Had this camera a couple of months before it broke. When I turned it on the lens came out crooked and the camera wouldn't work. Since it was comfortably under warranty I sent it to Casio, which in turn sent me a repair bill for $94--$10 more than I paid for the camera--with no explanation. The camera was never mistreated, but I sure feel like I was. They even wanted $10 to return the broken camera if I didn't want it repaired. I told them to keep it since the photo quality was never that great to begin with and the control buttons are way too small for human fingers. I understand that inexpensive cameras sometimes break but we have every right to expect the manufacturer to honor its warranty if said camera breaks within the warranty period. So, no more Casio products for me. My Canon Elph has been providing trouble-free service for 4 years. It cost more than twice as much as this Casio piece of junk but you really do get what you pay for.

The biggest benefit with this small camera is its 10x optical zoom. Exercising that great feature, however, requires an extremely steady hand and/or use of a tripod during indoor/low-light situations. If you understand that limitation going into it, you'll still enjoy using this camera. The only real complaint I have about it is the excessive delay in between shots at max quality..nearly 2~3 seconds. You need to plan for that delay appropriately when taking photos of your high-speed children!

My first digital camera was a Sony Mavica (MVC-FD73) --remember? The one that recorded to 3.5" disks. I loved that camera but became unhappy with the low resolution. My second digital was an HP. I was unhappy with that one because it had such a slow response time. Not a good feature when you're trying to capture pics of active grandkids -- also, I missed the 10x zoom of the Mavica. I read all the reviews of high zoom cameras and decided to go with the Sony Cyber-Shot. My good experience with the Mavica was the deciding factor in purchasing the Cyber-Shot. I have not been disappointed. The camera is easy to use, takes excellent pictures, has an almost indetectable click-to-record delay, and has many other good features. I was very impressed by the clarity and color of the pictures. I also like the feature that allows you to select the resolution from the 480x640 size to a 10 Megapixel file. With a 4 GB memory stick, there's room for hundreds of 10 Meg images or thousands of lesser-sized

When I first got it the screen was black and had to send it back. Then 12 months later same issue, now I have to pay to get it repaired after paying over 200 dollars

I was looking for an affordable extra-zoom digital camera. I've owned a Canon the past 10 years and was leary about purchasing a Sony. The only 2 con's for me at first were: 1) didn't take AA batteries and 2) Duo Memory stick. I actually like the fact that I can just recharge the battery when I need it and I got a 16 GB duo memory stick on sale (for the same price as an 8 GB). The camera lets me know how many pictures I can hold (depending on the pixels) so right now I can still shoot 5,000+ pictures. I'm leaving for Hawaii for 5 days so am excited to use my new camera.
I printed out the manual on the CD and found out a bunch of little features that I wouldn't have known about otherwise. You can set the camera to beach scenes so that the water will come out bluer. So far I've taken all sorts of pictures using all of the features and I love all of them. I love to just dabble in photography so this is a great start.
You can't go wrong with the price either.

I looked at this camera for months. I researched for longer than I would normally have, because I was deterred by some of the comments I have seen on other reviews. I wanted to make sure this was the right purchase for me. Photography is a hobby of mine. I have never been one to concentrate on F-stops, aperture, white balance, and shutter speed like someone who may delve deeper into the functionality of a camera like a professional. I just enjoy photography and taking pictures that mean something to me. Digital photography has opened up the world for someone like me due to not having to rely on film, film development, and/or limiting how many photographs you can take.
I have owned several digital cameras over the years. My personal favorite used to be a 3000 series Fuji Fine Pix that I owned and took thousands of pictures on. I take care of my equipment and it takes care of me. The Fuji was a camera that had a 6X optical zoom, but after a few years I found that it was too bulky

I bought this camera as an upgrade for an older model point and shoot camera. She is not much for settings and learning how to optimize a cameras functions and features but wants great pictures. She especially wanted a good picture taking zoom and the 10x optical zoom takes great pictures. This met her needs perfectly. Easy to use, great pictures, including clarity with proper exposure in the auto settings. Also it was very reasonably priced. It also has much versatility if I want to use the camera and tweak the settings.

The camera is great in picture mode. Annoying when you wanna look at the pictures giving it a delay before seeing the picture. The quality on the video is so bad unless it's just my cam. I would record my friends playing rockband and i can barely hear my friend sing. i would go to the club and alll the camera is taking in the bass and you cant here the person sining giving a shaking sound in the camera. i record my friend speak and i would miss some part of him talking. the microphone is the worst part. i called sony and they said it is like that.
if your looking for quaility in both picture and recording this is no the camera for you.

I bought this camera for an upcoming trip and it performed extremely well - took great pictures, was very easy to use. Battery lasted all day of heavy picture taking (mfg. says 240 pictures which is about what I used). I highly recommend for its quality, features compared to its price. Btw: I was struck by the small size of the camera relative to the picture (looks like a large STL camera); camera is small, basically fits in your hand.
Drawbacks (basically message to manufacturer on how to improve):
- should be able to charge battery in camera (currently must charge in provided separate charger)
- should be possible (or easier, if it is possible and I just haven't figured it out how) to read memory card in computer rather than only by connecting camera to computer
- on/off button could be better designed to make it easier to operate
Overall, really good camera for the money.

this is my 3rd sony digital camera and each one has improved from the previous model. the sony h20 has intelligent auto which knows what type of picture you want to take and sets itself accordingly. compared to the h5, i lose 2x in zoom (10 vs 12), but the size is cut in half. i thought it would make a great backup to the h5. it looks like the h5 is the backup to my h20. i will write more when i return from new zealand and australia and let you know how the h20 faired.

first I was looking for price and second for zoom lens - but pictures quality, features and considering it so easy to use, gives me more than I expected

Within a couple days of purchase, the camera would freeze intermittently. It frose often at the end of recording video. I updated the software and had the camera replaced. It still fails.

My husband has gone through many cameras in his lifetime and has never been happy with any of them. He could not understand why the shots were always blurred. I kept telling him it was the operator. A friend recommended this camera. After much consideration, I purchased this for his Christmas gift, sure that it would be another flop.
THIS CAMERA IS WONDERFUL !!!! We put it on auto and took it to a hockey game to give it a first try. Pointed, aimed, shoot. There was not a lousy shot in the lot. We took over 200 photos, all during the game with a lot of movement.
We haven't explored all the bells and whistles that this camera has to offer. However, if we just leave it on auto, it has been well worth the money. My husband is happy and so am I. Now I don't have to take all the photos !!

Love the camera. This is the third camer I've bought in less than a year, and this is the best for action pictures. Would like to be able to diplay time and date, but this is a minor inconvenience.

This is one of the best camera i have had. I was looking for a professional camera but those were too big to carry specially in parties, wedding and other occasions so i decided not to buy that one, than i saw this Sony Cyber shot. I took so many pictures at the store and then finally decided to get that camera and i think i made a right decision any one who likes photography will love that camera you can say its the best substitute for the professional ones. I will recommend that camera to any one. There is lots of things that you can do with that camera just play around with it and you will find lot of cool things.

This little camera has TONS of features and was relatively inexpensive. Burst mode is great for taking fast consecutive shots. I have only had it a couple of weeks but so far have absolutely no complaints. It is very compact for a 12X zoom which is one of the features that impressed me. I look forward to using more of the features - plan on sitting down and reading the manual as there are lots. So far I have downloaded the pictures to my computer with no problem using Picasa, and have been pleased with the picture quality even when cropped or enlarged. From my experience so far, you can't go wrong with this little camera!

Had an Olympus before this, and loved it; didn't really wanna try Sony but.. the price was right. It annoys me when I take a picture then have wait for it to "develop" in a sense, on the screen... takes 2 secs from blurred to the actual quality.
Other than that, I love it. Bought it for myself on my birthday in late January.. I think I got it for $100? + the memory card... Love it.

I'm a mother of 4, 2 of which are under 2. I would miss all the cute shots of my babies due to the delay. It's good for outside only shots, but the delay comes with useing the flash which you need when you are taking pictures in the house

This is a great camera. I absolutely love it. I bought this as my old camera was destroyed by our toddler, and with a new baby on the way we needed a better camera anyhow. This camera focuses and shoots quickly which is great when you have a little one on the move. All the pictures are clear and great quality. After you learn all the features it's a great camera full of lots of stuff.
Don't like that it requires a memory stick and not an SD like most (which memory sticks are a little more pricier then SD) but other then that this is an EXCELLENT product and i highly recommend it!

this is a nice camera with lots of features. i got it for a great price on sale.
it is easy to use and the lcd screen is big. i couldn't use my sd cards with this so i had to buy a sony memory stick pro. it does take hd movies but for only about 30 minutes before the battery needs to be recharged. the movies are in a quicktime file format, which i don't like. you also have to recharge the batteries if you don't use it for awhile. overall, a good camera for the price that i paid.
