I was immediately taken aback by this player. Its design took some time to get used to, but after seeing it up close and getting used to its controls, i feel like it is a good choice for any casual music listener.
The Good: 1. I like the design of it. Something new is always good for a market that has nothing different to give these days. 2. The sound quality is excellent. 3. The battery life is Amazing! I clocked in at 41.3 hours with all 128kbps songs and the screen off thanks to the lock. i havent done test with 192kbps songs yet, but i dont think it really matters too much. 4. Navigation is another plus. not just the default layout, but the customizability of it. you can move the menus around, add, delete, and set a certain item to the hotkey. this gave me the feeling that it was actually "My" mp3 player, unlike the Sansa, Ipod, and Zune mp3 players that do not allow any modification of the default layout.
The Bad: 1. Slow buttons. i noticed that when i scroll through the menus,

I was mainly interested in the video playback features of this unit. I did listen briefly to the sample MP3s that came on the device, and they sounded fine to me. File transfer and charging are via a 5-pin mini-USB connector. Under Windows, you access the device through Explorer under the path My Computer\a105\Internal Storage.
While you can directly place music and photo files through Explorer, video files must be converted and transferred using Windows Media Player. Consequently the Archos 105 requires video files in windows media (WMV) format. The resultant file that resides on the device is about 75 MB per hour, which means you should be able to cram 20-25 hours of video on the 2GB of internal flash (non-expandable). In the settings, you can choose for a video to playback once and stop, or to loop. In my test it played video for about 4.5 hours on a single charge. While the screen is small (160 x 128 pixels), it's good enough to watch tv shows on. You can fast forward and

These are nice mp3 players the navigation is a little hard to control, but so is the ipods. I like the fact that it has a fm radio, but it doesn't get to good of reception where i live. I think it is better than the ipod, but not too much compaired to other mp3 and mp4 players.

I absolutely LOVE this MP3 ! I bought one for my daughter for christmas since she loves to listen to her music. It was extremely easier to use, and even a child under 10 can figure it out. Adding & deleting songs are a snap. I liked it so much, I bought a second one for myself. Highly recommend !

I have an ipod nano, but bought the black 2GB Sony for my husband for Christmas. I liked his so much, I bought the pink one for myself! It is way easier to load than the ipod - just drag n' drop - and plays many formats without having to convert song files (which you DO have to do with the ipod using the ipod software ~ and it took forever to do that on my pc). I am VERY pleased with this 2GB Sony, and at almost half the price of my nano, it is a great buy. I haven't used the nano since.

It keeps freezing up and now this time after trying to do a update on it, it is frozen up and won't clear up. I have taken the battery out for the night and this morning it is still stuck on "database refresh". Can't seem to get a good solution for this on going problem either. This has been going on for about a year now, but this time it has had it I guess and is ready for the trash. I would search other places for product review besides amazon before buying, because there is a whole lot of other people out there having the same problems with this and the other 200 series as well and customer service is poor. I will never spend money on a SanDisk product again.

Purchased b/c of the strong reviews others had written - they were correct this is a great product.I purchased the pink color b/c it was cheaper then the others. Sound & video quality are great! I didn't like that I couldn't delete music from the device itself- I would need to connect to a computer to delete music. It only came with a usb cable to charge it with no AC plug. I purchased a USB to AC adapter so I could charge the player at work-haven't tried it yet. I wanted to purchase a case for it but it seemed like all the cases I could find were a third of the price of a new player. So,I just purchased a screen protector for a couple bucks( those screen protectors you buy for digital cameras)

Overall this is a fairly good product. I like the option of the FM radio in addition to the MP3, screen looks good, easy to use. The down side is that the battery doesn't seem to last very long, the plug for the USB doesn't seem to stay in very well when charging, and the software is not very intuitive. All in all it is still a good option over the iPod especially for a kid.

If you use your MP3 player for music only, my one star review is very harsh. For the money, it is a decent player if you never listen to anything over five minutes long. However, if you listen to audiobooks or podcasts, do not buy this player. I have used about a dozen different players over the past few years and I have never ever seen one so ill suited for playing lengthy files. There is no bookmarking feature and the fast forward is so slow that it is completely useless. You cannot start and the end of a track and rewind back to your spot either. Worse yet, it seems like the designers almost were determined to make it impossible for someone to maintain their spot on a long track. The record button has a hair trigger and is very difficult not to accidentally touch, and you had better manage to listen to that audiobook on one batter charge, because recharging will also cause you to loose your spot.

I purchased this MP3 player recently and it's wonderful. I was not that computer savvy in converting the music format to smaller kps so that the tracks could fit on the player, but once I figured it out, it was easy, hence I wish the instructions were of more help to those of us who need a little "music download 101" (smile). I am new to the MP3 music format, but it's wonderful considering they replace the hundreds of CD's that I have..I am a die-hard Sony(and Amazon) fan for years, and this is one more star in my collection..You rock Sony..Thanks....BJ

This mp3 player is great. Very small and easy to take everywhere. It even hooks up tp the stereo in my car. Easy to use and the battery lasts a long time. Great value for the money. I recommend this product.

I purchased this little gem about 2 months ago instead of an IPOD, because it had the FM receiver option. I have never owned or operated an MP3 player before, but I found this one to be extremely user-friendly. To load your music, you simply connect it to the Windows Media Player (software disk is included0, then just drag and drop your music files. The battery life is unbelievably long -I've charged it maybe, twice? And it is soooo cute! The only thing I think they could have added is a "sleep" function that would turn it off after awhile. Other than that I love it!

I bought this MP3 player thinking I was going to get just an MP3 player but I got so much more. It has a built in voice recorder which comes in handy in college during important lectures and moments I feel smart and need to say some thing and don't have enough time to write it down. This MP3 player also carries your photos and movies. It came with this compact disk you put in your computer, which makes it easy to up load movies into your player and T.V shows too; which is cool because I got to watch Gridiron Gang and smallville on it lol. It really comes in handy in situations were you're board too ha, ha. The great thing is I got it for $59.99; I dropped it tons of times and it still works. I also bought the clear case for it, it makes it a whole lot better and safer too. the MP3 player it self plus with the clear case is way lighter than an ipod. It also comes with a usb drive to connect and charge to your Personal computer :) pluse theres a wall charger sold for it too; just search it

I bought this item about 6 months ago, to replace my outdated Creative MuVo n200. I have loved every minute with it.
The user interface is very intuitive, and in my opinion it makes more sense than the ipod's. The touch controls are great too, because there aren't any moving buttons for dust to get down into. The casing is very sturdy, and with six months of shuffling through my backpack and being thrown on my desk, it still has only a few minor scratches on the back and none on the screen/front.
Two more great things: 1.) The earbuds. I have tried several that I have bought in the store, expecting greater sound quality. I haven't found any. The earbuds are comfortable for long periods of listening, they stay in my ear, and they have good sound quality. 2.) The battery life. I can use this for (it seems) days on end without recharging it. I drove 8 hours in one day, 4 to my destination and 4 back, listening to music the entire way. The battery still had 3/4 charge left.
One possible con:

I am pleased with the product, but when I purchased the Sandisk and didn't realize that I was purchasing a reburb item. I was either not understanding the screen or it was not obvious that this was a refurb item. I saved a whole $10.00 buying reburb. I am still pleased with the item, it is easy for my kids to use.

I got this for my TWEEN, who's 10 yrs old, she doesn't leave the house without it. I was a little leery about buying this item due to being marked as refurbish, but I'm very happy with my purchase.

Just got this for Christmas and love it, works great. Easy to upload from computer and unlike an IPOD you don't have to up load ONLY from Itunes. I got an IPOD last year and it froze up the first week, and it was new. So I would say for the price the sansa is a great option for anyone who want's a simple mpr player for home/car ect.

This is a sharp looking MP3 that looks real stable. The price was great, we gave this to our 10 year old for Christmas, we don't have to worry about being out $100's of dollars if it gets lost, stole, or broken.
