I bought as a third little computer for the kids. The Niveda video card along with the Atom processor blew the other computers out of the water. This little compact machine is just Awesome. The best $200 I ever spent on a computer.

If you are looking for a fast, clean, responsive machine this is the one. I did get the 12 cell battery for extended life. The display is clear and no bad pixels and very good refresh. The drive is fast and the processor is lightning fast. The machine is quiet adn runs cool. Then wireless N is a nice feature and the remote control is convenient. All in all the best laptop I have owned. Watching movies and multimedia off the net is fabulous. I stream Netflix with no issues,

the machine stop working after the 3rd day. possible due to power supply cause it will not switch on. vista is not that bad!
bought a new one instead. this time i spent more money and bought the CG series (i7 core/8 gig/ 1 tb etc). very satisfied with that purchase. more computer than i need (movies and music mostly) but i figure im holding on to it for 5-6 years so making sure it will last. the last computer i had (built it) cost me around the same and had it for 6 years. im no gamer so i dont upgrade as much.

for the money, asus is good.

For the price it's well worth it but the flaps around the disk drive falls apart.
supposed to come with the option to upgrade to windows 7 but site isn't that helpful. If you're cool with windows vista and you already have a moniter and love to multitask, this will be perfect for you. Just ignore the fact the it can easily be taken apart & you shud love this computer.

Bought the system on sale to replace an aging Linux box.
System specs were a good deal, HOWEVER there are some limitations.
The included PSU does not have a connector for a Video card so if you intend to update that be ready to buy a new PSU.
Also the build quality suffers.
My system came missing the spring which holds the DVD drive cover closed.
Which gave me a chance to try Asus online support. I filed the report asking about the spring on 3/2 and still have not heard anything from them (it is now 3/12). Had they responded I would have been impressed, as it is I am NOT impressed.

One other thing to beware of. My system came with the BIOS password set (and I assume someones data on the system). I had to find the manual online and reset the BIOS so I could change the boot order.
Refurbed evidently doesn't mean a whole lot was done to them other than put into a box.

Aside from that the bang for the buck is pretty good.
6GB of Ram and a big HDD

ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1201N-PU17-SL 12.1-Inch Silver Netbook - 5 Hours of Battery Life

Hello, First off I want to say WOW. This is an awesome little netbook! The size is perfect! It is very thin and extremely light. First thing to note. When you first turn it on it takes a little over an hour to "initialize". So make sure it is plugged into a wall and that you DO NOT turn it off while it is doing this. It may seem like it has hung but just give it some sweet time to finish. There will be options to fill out information as you go so check in on it every once in awhile. The Operating System. Windows 7 Premium is amazing. It runs so much better and overall smoother than any previous Windows OS. After it has finished its initialization boot time is right about One Minute on the included 2 gigs of RAM. The high res screen is very nice. For only being about 12 inches it still manages to give you a good bit of room to play with. The Trackpad. The trackpad is Multitouch and is pretty easy to use. Especially scrolling. You simply use two fingers and glide down or up to scroll.

The Intel graphics has a 4.0 Vista rating but only if you remember to download the drivers and utilities for it from the disk they give you.
The OS is a 64bit so be sure you buy the right hardware or software for it.
I replaced to the 300w power unit with a DYNEX 400w. I also replaced the wirless internet card with a TRENDnet 300mb Wireless N Adapter. (All From BestBuy)
And the word refurbished dosn't always mean it well be a bad computer, this one isn't.

I set up the computer this morning without any problem. After loading some of my programs I decided to check the system's properties. I was shocked to find that the RAM was only 4 GB and not the 6 GB that was advertised.
I plan on calling Best Buy's service tomorrow to see what they can do, without having to send the whole unit back. The unit looked brand new and if the RAM was 6 GB this would be perfect. I did not have any problems with the dvd doors, however they do look quite delicate.

Like other reviewers have indicated, DVD drive door arrived broken; replacement by ASUS for $2 door requires $30 shipping cost and a 6,000 mile round trip to California. Of course, they won't just send you the door even though they already know it's defective. The guy at ASUS said they know they have a problem with the door on refurbished units, but they insist on the customer sending them the whole PC for replacement. Translation: Customer, live with it.

Case in general is poorly designed and was obviously intended for folks who have no desire to expand the hardware. Example: although there are two hard drive slots, putting another one in requires way more work than is necessary and in the end places two hard drives almost on top of each other with virtually no air circulation.

One other reviewer had the right idea: take all the components and move them to a different case. That's how bad the case is. It's like ASUS, not really known for desktops, decided to experiment

I must say, I just recieved my Revo 3610 yesterday and it was more then I could have expected, for the price it did everything I was hoping it would, and was a breeze to set up, the HDMI and 7.1 oprtical output worked perfectly. Windows 7 come with Windows Media Center that includes an HD movie player, It excepts movie files in DVD format and upscales, so there is no need to but additional software such as PowerDVD 9. I have attatched a 2TB external drive and can store hundres of movies eliminating the need to burn DVD's. both units together are small enough to hide and has more then enough ports to suffice a HTPC. a really cool item I got tho was the LG super multi 2TB NAS storage system, with a blu-ray burner, it's small, does the funtion of a player, burner and an external drive will hold at least 400 movie files in DVD format and thousands in AVI, look into it, this was a perfect combination, it makes a nearly invisible complete HTPC

Pros: -- The keyboard is a nice size. It feels nice, and types well. -- The LED lights look sweet - and the little ideapad logo is really neat -- The sound on this thing is nice - it has a subwoofer - which is noticable when tested against my fiancee's MacBook Pro that is broken and basically plays sound far too loud. -- The screen is bright and easy to read -- The computer can run, illustrator, photoshop, world of warcraft and google chrome with no slow down. -- Great at running any application or game with the processor -- The graphics card helps with games - my games look excellent -- Lots of storage - 500 GB I've only used maybe 200 GB , a good portion of that photos. -- Windows 7 is great. I have little to no problems with it. -- The computer is light and is carried easily in a backpack (I'm 5'2") -- I love the orange accents -- HDMI port yes! -- Not a loud fan. I heard others complain about this but I don't see it at all. Not when I have an airplane launching in the MacBook Pro that

ASUS N71JQ-A1 17.3-Inch Versatile Entertainment Laptop (Dark Brown)

Didn't buy this at Amazon but have found Amazon reviews extremely helpful in the past so I thought I would add a review of the N71jq-A1 as I was unable to find too much on this model as of yet but took the plunge based on similar model reviews. I've owned it for 3 days and am very impressed so far. I've only owned HP's in the past and have experienced both good and bad so I thought I would branch out and try ASUS based on their warranty and many positive online reviews of the company. Firstly I must say this is a nice looking computer; a much better looking machine in person rather than the impression I got from pictures on the Web and it is sturdy and well built. I would describe it as classy. It gets a 5.9 on the Windows experience. The start up is quite fast, I would say it is at least twice as fast booting up than the other laptop (HP) we have in the house which is one year old. Sound is very good with nice volume. Keyboard is good but I am by no means a real typist so I can't

Great Laptop, super fast. No problems with set-up. Love windows 7.
BTW, for the price BestBuy should have included full version of Norton instead of 60 day trial. Very cheesy of you guys!

HP Pavilion P6230Y NY549AAR AMD Phenom II Refurbished Desktop PC - Black

This PC is a great investment. I am a college student and I use this PC for mostly that, However, do play all of the COD's and they run awesome. Bought a XFX ATI 4850 for this PC and is is Awesome. The only draw back is I wanted to put a 1.5 TB HD drive in it and the video card and did not have a large enough PSU so had to buy a BFG 550 W PSU. All in all it is well worth the money for aAwesome PC. Oh almost forgot Windows 7 is so fast and reliable

HP Mini 311-1000NR 11.6-Inch Black Netbook - Up to 6.25 Hours of Battery Life

I bought this while stationed on a small Army depot, which has nothing to do within walking distance. It will definitely do all your web surfing, document writing and other normal use you would get out of a portable PC. The charge lasts a pretty long time, considering it has a large screen for a netbook. One big factor in my purchasing this over other netbooks was the Nvidia ION motherboard/Graphics processor, which is much more capable of graphical power than most netbooks which use Intel's shared video processor. Out of the box, it will play games such as Warcraft 3 and Unreal Tournament 2004 with graphics maxed. This wasn't enough for me, so I overclocked the CPU and GPU (I won't tell you how to void your warranty, there are plenty of forums with this info on them), and can play Age of Empires 3, Command and Conquer 3, Fable and Neverwinter Nights 2 with a great framerate at medium high graphics levels. Don't expect this little thing to be able to play Bioshock 2 or Left 4 Dead 2.

I HAD TO BUY A NEW TOWER BECUASE MY OTHER ONE (WHICH I BOUGHT FROM BEST BUY WILL NOT DO IT AGAIN) WAS FRIED FROM A STORM AND I NEEDED A QUICK AND INEXPENSIVE ONE FOR MY SCHOOL WORK. THIS IS A GREAT LITTLE TOWER, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS IF YOU NEED A FAST ACTING PROCESSOR, BUT IF YOU NEED IT FOR OMEWORK LIKE I DID IT DOES WHAT IT SHOULD. OVERALL I AM NOT TO IMPRESSED WITH IT AND IT TAKES TOO,LONG TO LOAD ANYTHING.

Buyer beware. The support you get from ACER is minimum to none. They require you to call a toll free number and pay $59.00 for 30 minutes, just to find out what memory card is installed in the pc. I have owned mine for two days and after 3 tech calls and 4 emails, I have yet to find out the total description for the memory card installed. I know it is a 1gb and is up-gradeable to 4gb, but can't find out if its a 200 pin or 240 pin, don't know if its a pc2-6400 or pc2-5600. I have researched it and found two different recommendations. If you call the tech number on the enclosed packet, you get no help. They refer you to the pay for tech help line. If you email tech support you get the standard: We're so sorry but call this number, and they give you the paid support #. They are a joke. Otherwise, I like the pc. I tested the wattage and it only uses 24 watts which is what I want for my mountain cabin. It is very slow, so I wanted to increase the memory, but so far can't. I have

Gateway LT2032u 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - Over 7 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Starter)
Got my little notebook for Christmas, thanks kids, and got to use it for several weeks before the problem started. I was getting power surge notices which was corrupting my work, meaning I has to stop and fix the message and restart thus loosing online work. Three weeks of online help with numerous 'fixes' from simple bios reload to a complete system restore. Kept telling them it was a motherboard issue. So they finally agreed to take it in to repair facility and I had to pay for shipping. Two more weeks, it is now March 5th, got the computer back yesterday and it still gives me an error message! Called again, number ? I forget how many times, send it back and we will definitely fix it this time. So now I will again be with out my computer for another two and a half weeks while they try to fix it again.

This model was ordered for me as a gift and I was extremely excited to receive. Unfortunately since receiving I have had nothing but problems. On powering up the screen was just black. Eventually sent back to manufacturer and they supposedly fixed the darn thing. I just got back the box (minus the sleeve it initially came with) and it worked for approximately 1.5 days. The screen has just fizzled again. I plan to send this back immediately and request a full refund. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
