There's the obvious standard one, a future theme, a World Board, a Jungle Board, even food themes like chocolate and cheese. Each of these themes have appropriately named properties too (things like "Polar Bear Mountain" and "Blizzard Plains" for an ice themed board). There is a very strong variety of play here - without changing the basic game at all. And that is just in standard mode.

There is another mode called "Richest" Edition, where you play with some new rules. One of which is no money. Richest uses no money at all - when you owe someone money, you have to give or take properties. When I first played it, I thought it was going to stink - the formula is changed around a lot, but I have to say, I really ended up enjoying it. The lack of money gave the game a rather different, and very enjoyable feel to me. There are also mini games in between rounds in the "Richest" mode to play which are loosely based on certain aspects of Monopoly. The mini games are kind of hit or miss depending on which one you get (there's about a dozen different ones, including one bizarre one where you have to take X-Rays of the Pennybags character). But I do have to say I really took to the Richest Edition variant of game play. It's notably shorter than regular games of Monopoly, which is one thing to take into account.

So I was really quite enjoying this game, which brings me to the strongest negative to this title. THERE IS NO SORT OF MULTIPLAYER OVER XBOX LIVE! THIS IS A FAILURE OF EPIC PROPORTIONS! How a game like Monopoly could be created without any sort of online play in 2008 is beyond me. It's not like this a Gears of War game or a Halo 3 where you have to push massive amounts of bits up and down an Internet connection. It's Monopoly. I cannot fathom why there was no Xbox Live play here - it just boggles my mind that I cannot do this. This is such a major drawback, I can see it preventing a lot of people from buying the game. Yeah, there's multiplayer locally. You can play up to four people here on the same console. But to be honest, if I have four people in my living room, I'm going to play the real board game version. I might have been inclined to give this game five stars in my review, but the lack of Xbox Live play takes it down to three. It makes me think this omission is why the game ha a list price of $39 instead of the $59 most Xbox 360 games have.

Still, my feelings on lack of Xbox LIVE play aside, this is a very good representation of Monopoly. If you are big time into Monopoly, and always wanted to play but had nobody to do it with, this can work for you. It is a very good game of Monopoly, and the new modes bring a fresh flavor to a game that most of us know pretty darned well.

I wrote this review on the Xbox 360 version. It is also out on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, as well as the Wii. I do not know the multiplayer situation on those, but if they can play online, and the 360 version cannot, I'll be even more irritated at that.

me when i move on to the next game...nothing memorable except tons of zombies running at you...the game also is not scary..no spookyness to it...this game could have been way better(the 1 player story mode anyway)..but it still had me in zombie heaven...great animations when you shoot them, good graphics..old school zombie flick music that was perfect...good zombie game that could have been better.

I bought 1 bundle and am considering buying a couple more to give to friends kids. Viva Pinata also has on-line multiplayer, and my older kids can play with their friends over live as well.

'plot' lines are pretty laughable, and there are some seriously corny (though unintended) elements in the game, like Dizzy, the ol' timer with a cowboy hat who hand-repairs his broken mega-tank in about fifteen seconds while under mortar fire. I half expected a yeeeee-haw! from him as he got his 'Betty' working again... though Dizzy did give me a laugh when he hollered "I'm on your back like a buttcrack!"

A final complaint I have -- there's no challenge! This game isn't challenging so much as tedious. In GoW2, your options are a) hide behind a wall and pick off enemies, or b) hide behind another wall and pick off enemies. Yes, there are lots of them, but they're all the same guy, same tactics, same weapon. Maybe there are a couple different types, but they all look and act the same. So you gotta hide behind a wall. And pick 'em off. Then go to the next wall. And pick more off.

Sorry for the repetitive writing, but that's what this game is -- repetitive.

Still, the graphics are pretty, the game is semi-entertaining, and this should be fun for people who aren't picky about their video games. It's a generic title with gore, third-person perspective, and a 'game of the year' predecessor to buoy its sales.

If you're considering this and weren't a huge fan of the first, I'd say... play a friend's copy, or give this a rent first. I wasn't too impressed and would warn you to check it out before you drop all that cash on what is, in my opinion, a mediocre game.

If you're looking more for campaign than multiplayer, I'd suggest taking a look at Dead Space. Weapons, story, graphics, gameplay, music, and suspense are all of much higher quality than those in GoW2. Different style, but still gory and plays like a third-person shooter. Worth the shot over this game.

Sonic Unleashed: Xbox 360

it's like a less violant God of War (Literally down to the way he attacks, opens doors and finishes off enemies) and it still manages to be fun, though not as fast but it's okay and I'll say why later. You have to level Sonic and the Werehog up separately, though not to the extent of Sonic and the Secret Rings where you're running horribly slow, you go from fast to mach ten. Sonics day levels are pure speed and fun much like Sonic Adventure just MUCH faster when they have to be and more polished so to speech, the werehogs levels are slower but also more focused on combat and some light puzzles, where leveling with Sonic would get you more speed and boost, the werehog gets more attack moves, power and health, and there's also the Tornado levels where you fly with Tails to take down Robotniks (Eggmans) army which is more or less press a certain button to blow up a certain enemy..

The 360/PS3 versions are almost completely different from the Wii/PS2 in every way, the levels are the same theme but are completely different in design, there is no leveling for Sonic and it's done automatically for the werehog. The werehog is more of a button masher than it is the 360/PS3 version where they have a long move list. There's more of an even spread between Sonics and the Werehogs levels, while the Wii/PS2 seems to focus more on the werehog. There is no towns to explore in the Wii/PS2 version, which is more of a picture/text adventure rather than running around, which is fine, but it's fun to see Segas new art style with the human characters that actually fit in this time around.The 360/PS3 version seems to be larger in scale to the Wii/PS2 versions but that's not to say the Wii version isn't good, it's just not as large as the 360/PS3.

I'm so happy with this game, even if you're not a big fan of the werehog levels, there's enough fun in Sonics levels to keep you coming back for more. They don't try to over complicate a story with characters wierd events and certainly no Final Fantasy looking characters. It focuses on Sonic and his Werehog form and has a very fantasy/silly story, but it's very fitting for Sonic I must say. The game is the best Sonic game I've played in along time, and though I expected it to be not great, it turned out to be my favorite 3D Sonic game.

When playing, I can hear quite a difference from the original pads, and the sound dampening is indeed doing its job. However, it doesn't soften the sound *as much* as the silencer pads that are sold separately, so if you ended up buying those prior to this set, you may want to hang on to them. In fact, because I don't have a surround sound system on my TV, I found it hard to hear the different noises coming from the velocity sensitive pads unless I turned the TV up uncomfortably loud. In other words, the pads are softer, but still have some clacking going on that may interfere with some people's playing.

Visually, I can see a difference coming from the velocity sensitive equipment, and it gives you an on-screen cue on the lights at the bottom to tell you if what you just did was a soft or hard hit (there isn't anything in-between soft and hard) The velocity sensitive angle strikes me as a nice addition to the franchise, but it's purely for show.

The pedal, meanwhile, is holding up like a champ. I've never been one to slam down on it very much, but the metal plate will give me some added comfort while I play. On the other hand, it is only a plate covering the (still plastic) pedal, and not a replacement for the hinge at the bottom of the pedal, which is where most people have a problem. Expert level players or people who tend to bang on the pedal might still consider a replacement kit to make sure nothing happens to theirs.

Lastly, I bought the 2 pack of cymbals to plug in the expansion ports, and although I won't review them here, I will talk about how they make the game different. The striking part of the cymbals are rubber, so in theory they shouldn't make much noise, but in practice, they are as loud if not louder than the sound dampening pads. Anyone with thin walls or parents they don't want to wake up should be aware that this might still be a problem.

In-game, I've found myself avoiding the cymbals to start off with, because of the added difficulty of switching from pad to cymbal, but also because there is no in-game indicator of which one to use. I suppose I should have known this going in, but I supposed that there would be a way to switch the note charts somehow in the game so that it knew whether the player was using a standard kit or one with cymbals, and changed the notes accordingly. As it is, I'm certainly no drum expert, so knowing instinctively when I should be using what (pad or cymbal) is somewhat of an exercise in frustration, and makes me think that I'm really just picking up bad drumming habits that I'll later have to break. What it comes down to is that if you know a song by heart, or play live drums, this won't be a problem. For everyone else, hoping that this would be something of a drum trainer, the cymbals come off as a tacked-on experience. (Yes, I realize the irony of saying an expansion is tacked-on, but still)

With 20/20 hindsight, $90 seems like a steep price to pay for the relatively small advancements that this kit allows you to do.

Tomb Raider: Underworld: Xbox 360

new cash-in squad at SE. The graphics are better than FFXII, so I wish people would stop making that comparison. The art technique and layout of the world itself CAN be compared to FFXII only because that is the type of rpg world SE seems to want to build now. I think their plan is to try and make rpg more accessable to American's by getting away from the Japanese form, which seems to be less popular(god knows why...).

I can tell from 10 hours I will love this game but, having said all that, I am going to wait for the PS3 before I purchase my copy. I own both systems and can wait 4 months or so for the release of what will hopefully be a much more rounded out and perfected version of the game. It seems like SE tried as hard as they could to push this game to market before the holiday season because it was never supposed to come out before early first quarter of '09. Its simply presonal preference though, because I really want to get the best version of this game because it is THAT GOOD, honestly, and I do not want anything to take away from the experience.

If you do not own a PS3 and want every rpg that is worth playing, you sincerly need to buy this game because it will not disappoint you. Tenchnical issues aside, its the best your going to get before FFXIII is finally released(unless you own a PS2 still, then it is Persona 4 ;p ).
