When the God of War bundle first came out I've been wanting to get my first PSP. Then, over the summer I heard Sony was releasing a new Ratchet & Clank 3000 bundle, so I bided my time... I'm so glad I waited! I bought it for my birthday recently. I've had no problems getting on to the inter-web, but it's a little clunky navigating for sure. The game is fun, I don't see the scan line problems that has been pointed out... Anyway, if you're like me & considering getting your first PSP; do it.

My granddaughter showed it to me and said it would be good to help me view my PSP movies. So I ordered it and wasn't particularly impressed at first because I didn't realize it needed batteries (there were no instructions included). But when I put batteries in boy was I shocked! The sound was wonderful. I could view hands free and even adjust the view. I immediately ordered one for my granddaughter and my 31 year old daughter likes it too and probably wants one.

The first thing I would like to say is that the scan lines are not nearly as big of an issue as others make them out to be. I have only noticed them slightly, and they are completely overlooked when comparing the overall quality of this new screen. It is brighter, has a higher contrast ratio to display more vivid colors, and ghosting is no more.
The included games Ratchet and Clank and Echochrome are both terrific in their own respect, but I have to hand it to Echochrome. It is a brilliantly done puzzle game that is as beautifully presented as it is mind-bending.
I highly recommend this unit if you have a PS3 because of the remote play capabilities. Being able to stream video, music, and pictures wirelessly is a dream. And now Sony is offering their Media Manager as a free download it is a breeze to add your own music and media right to the 1gb memory stick provided.
The best part about owning a PSP is that most games that you really want are now around $20, so you can beef up your

A great way to waste time on a trip, especially if you commute overseas to work. Also great if you are stuck for 6 weeks at a time in a country where there is nothing to do whatsoever (Saudi Arabia). I was worried about the reviews concerning the interlacing problems, but not a problem at least with mine.

There was quite a bit of hype surrounding the new iteration of Sony's PSP handheld. With a built in microphone it was a small step to enable Skype and use the system as a cheap phone in wifi hot spots. Its screen was a great deal brighter and showed more detail.
Unfortunately that came at the price of displaying scanlines among other things. While the visual blow has been voiced to death by the media another issue is less well known.
The silver Ratchet and Clank PSP-3000 units have an awful texture. In photographs they seem as sleek and glossy as the Daxter silver PSP-2000 units. This is not the case. The clear lacquer that protected the paint application is no longer used. What's left is a gritty spray-painted feel that doesn't even compare. I'm very curious as to whether the black units will still have their glossy feel.
The packaging is a terrible step downward. The unit I purchased had half-escaped its little coffin-hole inside of the box. The unit also lacked any sort of screen

Yes it's from SONY's Playstation site. It's new, they finally succumbed to the pressure that it SHOULD have been included in the first place with the PSP.
I have an XP, it works great for transferring video and music. You don't need it for transferring games/demos.

If you've bought a PSP 2000 or even the original, this is not worth purchasing due to the new "feature" Sony have implemented with it's screen. Sadly, there are highly noticeable scanlines with movement and an interlaced effect on the screen. It looks like small black horizontal lines across the screen. LCD's are not supposed to look like this!
It looks like there is something wrong with the screen much more so than with the motion-blur of the PSP 2000 or the original, which both looked crisp and clean in comparison.
Stick with the PSP 2000 if you have one, or if you're in the market to buy, get a PSP 2000 instead. That's a much better deal!

I own a God of War Red PSP. I am a video buff and any screen upgrade on any product, I usually pick up.
The PSP 3000 does have great contrast, brightness, and color.
The problem is that with any fast moving object shown on screen, scan lines show up. To describe, they are like tiny little horizontal black bars across an object. You can only notice them when you are looking for them, but still.
Sony announced that this is not a defect, but a feature and it won't be fixed.
If you already own a PSP 2000 series, there is no need to upgrade. If you don't own a PSP yet, pick up a 2000 series model while they are still available.

I'm very disappointed. The PSP has a scan lines problem and you can easily see it when playing a sport game. Acording to offical press release from SCEA "it's a hardware issue and there is no way to fix it through software update".
So long PSP 3000.

I am a 27 year old gamer who owns all 3 of the home consoles and has had a DS for the last couple of years. I always wanted a PSP but hesitated due to many people stating the games are of poor quality. I finally got fed up with my choices of high school musical and Pokémon games for the DS so I sold it and bought this PSP. I could not have made a better choice; I purchased 8 games to get me started, all of which are better than any DS game I played that didn't have Mario in the title. I am super impressed with the size of the PSP screen and the graphical fidelity the system offers; it makes the DS look like an 8 bit NES and a child's toy. Amazon was wonderful; the system was at my door on the 14th when I got home from work just as promised. While the DS is great for the kiddies and the casual gamers, this is the system of choice for gaming adults. Overall, I would recommend this system to anyone looking for a more grown-up portable gaming system.

I ordered this product in August 2008, and just this week I received my refund. This seller lied twice in stating that he sent the item, and after two letters to Amazon, Amazon finally decided that yes maybe you did have some problems with this particular seller.
I think resent more that Amazon beat around the bush before responding to my two inquiries.
I gave low ratings because thanks to the deceitful nature of the seller, I could not play the game.

Do not waste your $$$$ on a PSP!
they are great & the kids love them but the screen cracks too easily & then you are out your $200!
we have been through 2 of these in a year & I will NOT buy another one!
We will go back to Nintendo if this is how shoddy Sony makes their products! I feel very ripped off.

OK, so I was very happy with my iPod touch, but sticker shock got the best of me. I decided to go for something a little different, and so I jumped on the new PSP-2000.
A little background: I had a launch PSP back when they first came out. I liked it then, but it was very limited by a lack of software and support.
Fast-forward to today: I'm quite happy with the PSP-2000 as a media device. It's lightweight, slim, and doesn't take up much more space than an iPod touch. It has user-replaceable battery packs, and you can upgrade the memory as you see fit. I grabbed an 8GB Memory Stick at a bargain price, and I'm happy with the amount of data I can store on it.
Other bonuses versus an iPod touch:
* Controls for games.
* Built-in stereo speakers.
* WiFi switch allows you to turn off WiFi when you're not using it.
* Bigger screen.
* Extended battery available.
* Comes with wall charger, but can be charged via USB just like the iPod.
* Costs MUCH less than iPOd touch.
* Web browser has limited

The PSP works fine. I'm not to much of a Madden fan but I'm sure I'll get into the game. I bought it for the 1gig memory stick and for the fact the the PSP is blue. Anyway, I love the product. Thanks,
Henry

I was afraid my nine year old would scratch his PSP so I purchased this protector, it is great,
it protects perfectly and does not in any way affect viewing capabilities.
I highly recommend this product.

Excellent. Works wonderful. It's everything I was hoping for. Good, quick delivery service as well. That's a big one for me. I usually order at the last minute and the product came in a real timely manner. Very happy.

the battery that is advertised is not the battery that they send you. it turns out that the battery they send you is one of the fake batterys that isn't made by sony. very disappointed in this purchase, and i'm going to see if i can get my money back and find a site that will actually sell me the battery that they advertise (and one made by sony), not a fake one that they send you instead of the one shown.

My son was thrilled when his PSP arrived. Had one from two years ago. Alot more pricey. Of course all prices drop as things are on the market longer. This PSP is lighter and more accomodating than his original one. I was a bit concerned that buying from OS I would end up with an early model leftover, but not true at all! He is very happy and thus I am too!!!

I got the Limited edition madden PSP as an intro to the system. Never played PSP but always was curious. Am going on a long trip this weekend so figured it would be a great time to get one. The game plays well, better then excepted and the PSP is cool. The blue is a fine color... The add ons didn;t blow me away... I would recomend this system to anyone who wants a PSP game system.
