So much can be say about Sony's VAIO, but one thing is for sure: it's the perfect companion for working, studying or even for just have some fun on-the-road. I've bought this unit 2 weeks ago, and I couldn't be happier. Its runs smoothly with the 2 Gbytes RAM, the display is bright and clear, the keyboard is very comfortable (the keys are very well spaced), it comes with 4 USB ports (more than enough!) and with a 160-Gbytes hard drive (not too big, but considering it's a laptop you shouldn't keep all your data on it). The design is very stylish (I bought the night-blue model; I'm a blue-freak!). It's elegant and (perhaps the most important thing to consider) it is totally affordable. Honestly, I just can't believe I've got a VAIO for less than 700$!
Windows Vista runs quiet and quickly in this VAIO. Although many people find it annoying, I don't fell offended for all the software trials that come with it. And it takes only about 5 minutes (10 minutes top) to uninstall all of this software.

This is a smooth and fast computer, but watch out for the touch pad on these Vaios, they are relaibly faulty, recommend a mouse... Otherwise, a good strong machine for the price.

We bought a Gateway and Windows got hosed for some reason. We called 1-800-GATEWAY for support. Guess what? If you buy a Gateway anywhere but their website you must call a separate toll number. WTF!? Then we needed to restore it but the restore partition was bad. Had to get the recovery disk. They charged me $20 for a $1 CD-R. Then it wouldn't work, and they wanted to charge me to tell me how to use it. Again WTF? These people are horrible. Save yourself a lot of trouble and get a Mac. Get HP. Get an abacus. Anything but Gateway.

Cons: Instalation is a breeze. Speed is excelent; Capacity in RAM and Disk is superb for the price.I am more than happy with this purchase.
Cons: Battery life is very bad. Just imagine leaving the battery fully charged, turn it off from the wall aoutlet and when I turn it on two days later the battery is almost exhausted. Probably there is something wrong this it. It is not normal.

**-*-*Exc seller, I purchase for 5-9 Bussines Days, And I get The PC in only 3 days.*-*-*
--------Here are some Pros and Couns regarding the PC, -------
**Cons ** 1st -The pc only works w/windows Vista, I contact the Sony Support online, and the told me that for the moment the product will work only w/Vista, after some month will upgrade to XP, I hope so!!
**Pros**, The pc is very fast, The processor helps a lot, and the 3Gb memory too..the HD is enough to safe your videos, Music, files.
**Pros** The desing is exc, is for people who like high tech.
**Battery** like 3hrs.
Comment for the seller, The specification sd the machine comes w/ a processor Core 2 duo, but I recibe my pc w/ a sticker that sd Centrino, I find out the internal processor was the one mention on the box (the 2.0Ghz Core 2 duo). But at 1st time I just get scared about it.
In General, I love Vaio....

This computer was such a good deal for the price. It has a trial on the microsoft office and you can purchase it later if you like it. Has Windows Vista which is fine too. Nice wide screen and no problems so far. I have had it for a couple weeks. I am not up on all the technology, but I can tell you it accomodates a couple of usb cords, has been user friendly, no problem with internet and has slots for my memory card from my camera. Everything I need. Touch pad works well just had to disable some of the "assistance" features in order to not have it do some things for me automatically. Great purchase!

I've had this PC or just over ten days now and have had to do TWO System Recovery's, and then reload all the peripherals, software and files (twice!) I've spent hours & hours on the phone with tech support, who, although very nice and helpful were unable to solve any of the problems with this particular computer and each time had to result in the suggestion to do a system recovery.
The problems were: first my speakers went and after hours with Tech Support that only thing left to do was a System Recovery. Several days later my network card went and I lost internet and email. After more hours and hours, no solution and the only thing left was a System Recovery. Then, after another day or two we started having "unexpected shut-downs" and "screen freezes." When the screen freezes there is nothing you can do but unplug the unit and plug it back in. The mouse doesn't work, CTL+ALT+DEL does not work........the power (on/off) button doesn't even work. We spent another three hours on with Tech

This unit is terrific. Beautifully designed, great speed and features. A really nice value. Quite beautiful too. The only complaint I have is I wish I had a standard sized firewire.

I placed an order for this laptop on Aug 16, 2008. Promised to deliver 18th and then 22nd but actually the product is out of stock (per CSR comment). I finally bought this from CC where it is much cheaper (incl taxes). If you can get the product from Amazon right in time at a lower price than others, it may be a worth. This review is not for the product but for Amazon. I am going to leave a detailed product review in the store which offered me great price and wonderful service.

I bought this IQ504 thinking they had already worked out the bugs...guess what. I have spent many hours speaking to very nice people from tech support who are genuinely interested in helping me with a jerky DVD player and slow graphics, but the problem still exists and I can't seem to get any further with the device. I never use the touch screen option because most web pages use font that is too small to allow accurate finger touch control
I don't understand why the DVD video is so jerky, but it makes watching my music DVDs too jerky to enjoy.
I should have waited a year before purchasing so the bugs could have been worked out.

I placed an order on August 12th. No update until August 19th, and suddenly I received an email saying that they do not have it in stock and thus they cannot make delivery in line with the estimated schedule. It's cheaper than other stores (like circuitcity) but don't but from Amazon right now. I really like the laptop and it's a pity; I will write a serious review once I get one (maybe not from Amazon). I am sure I will like the laptop. One problem with the previous version of U405 (using T series processor) is the heat; the laptop seems to get a bit hot. But I am expecting that this P-series processor exhausts less heat as the processor uses less power. I also expect the battery life to be longer because of the same reason. I will come back to the full review once I get my hands on it. Hopefully Amazon will handle my order MUCH better next time :(

Setup of the TouchSmart was easy. The only drawback, the CD/DVD drive was defective. HP sends you a new CD/DVD drive together with photo and written instructions. You have to have the right size of tools when you get to the drive and it's not easy to get the PC back together. My opinion is, the drive can be problematic. Otherwise, it's about as good as one could expect.

Alright, so I bought this laptop for college. I wanted something small, lightweight and powerful, but also good-looking. I though about the 14.1 inch Sony Vaio's and was extremely close to buying one when I found out about this PC.
I've had it for about a week now, and if I remember, I'll update the review as time goes by.
The laptop looks amazing, it has this shiny finish that's reflective, and i just love the feel of it, I would recommend heading over to your local PC/electronics store to see it in person, because that's how I fell in love.
I'm not going list all the specs, because you can find most of them on this page, I'll list some cool features I liked though:
The PC comes with Ulead DVD factory for Toshiba, which I love because i make mini movies, and the title menu's you can make on it are amazing. The laptop also has a flashlabel drive, so i can print awesome labels on my DVD's, a great feature if u use that stuff.
It has a built in camera/mic which is cool. It also comes

If you are looking for a powerful PC, but don't want to spend all that money on a Alienware or HP Blackbird, this is a great machine. I have owned mine for about a month now and I'm still impressed by how fast it is. It comes with Vista 64 OS, which I have had very little issues with. My only gripe is that it did not include a DVI > VGA adaptor, but instead came with a DVI > HDMI. So, I had to go to the store and get another DVI > HDMI adaptor and go that route, which in the end gives a superior image with a (expensive) HDMI cable. Even with that problem, I highly recommend it.

I picked up this laptop a few weeks ago as my desktop was getting rather dated. Not to mention I wanted to enjoy the rest of my house as I surfed the internet. I am really quite impressed with the unit. Read the specs and you will see that there is really very little left out of this laptop. Plenty of juice to run x64 Vista and anything else I have had it attempt to run.
The blu-ray player is an absolute blast the picture quality is amazing and I now realize that my antiquated television is sadly going to have to be replaced in the very near future for I have been spoiled and it is good.
Many laptop keyboards have left me disappointed over the years but the one on this HP is quite nice....very good feel and plenty of wrist support from the case. I really like the ability to switch off the touchpad as it makes typing easier. The scroll bar on the touchpad is also a favorite feature of mine. Always hated having to manually scroll a web page on older laptops.
My gripes are few.......this

This is an awesome gaming machine. I researched different gaming machines, read all the reviews and went ahead and took the plunge. Yes it is expensive, but well worth the price. Very easy to set up, and very quiet. It is a large heavy machine, but how often do you move your computer? I've had it for a month now and no complaints at all.

I ordered this product about 4 days ago. I have used it a couple of times since then and things seem to have been working fine. On about my sixth try I turned on the computer and nothing appeared on the screen. I turned it off and tried again. The moniter again displayed nothing and went into the standby mode. I called HP and was almost immediatly connected. The bad part is that they had this mostly computer novice do the trouble shooting for them before they would do anything. So I got to tear down my own computer while getting directions from tech support on the other end. We almost came to a stop when my hand was to big to reach in and grab the battery that they wanted taken out and put back. I asked what if I can't get to it. The tech told me then I could either return it to Amazon or paid to get it fixed. HP would not pay for the shipping or to have it fixed until all the steps in the trouble shooting process were complete. I got someone in the household with smaller hands to help

I purchased this computer. While I found it attractive to look at and it had the features I wanted, it was a nightmare attempting to set it up. First the promised adapter for DVI to VGA was not included and I had to go running around acquiring one. Then I attempted to connect to the internet via my cable modem and router. That would not work no matter what I tried. Even though the same connection works on an older gateway and one I purchased six months ago with Vista I could not get it connected with this machine. After several hours of working with Gateway they gave up saying it was the ISP's fault even though I started with the ISP first. Delays of over 30-40 minutes were routine on my calls. All I can say be prepared for a lousy experience if you have any trouble with this machine. I am certainly going to return mine.

I'm not one to give 5/5 stars to anything, but this computer is awesome. I added the 24" HP flatscreen monitor, and the graphics are amazing. My old PC was running well with XP, and with all the moaning about Vista, I thought about running XP on the new computer as well. That would have been a big mistake. I'm using 64 bit Vista on the HP, and with 6 MB of RAM, the thing runs beautifully. No crashes, no glitches, despite using all the Vista eye candy extras (which I recommend--they're fun after all!). I recently added a couple of Macbook laptops to the home network, and this computer was far easier to set up! Apple's built in networking capabilities are primitive, and getting the Macs set up to work with network printers was a pain. Everything worked immediately with my new HP running Vista, however, and the system has been rock solid.
