I ordered this item several days ago. The page said it was in stock. Well, it's taking them *at least* 7 days just to ship it, so that it's guaranteed I won't get it for our Thanksgiving vacation - for which I bought it. No explanation whatsoever as to why there is such a huge delay on shipping it and no apologies either.
So, if you were thinking of getting one of these for a long drive, make sure you order it at least a month in advance.

This TV works great. I bought it for our hunting camp where we have no electrical service. As long as we have a fully charged battery on the camper, even the DVD player works great on this unit. Clear picture and sound. Easy to operate. Grandkids love it.

however, it is a tad on the large size. It is like carrying another piece of luggage. I want the travel case for plane rides and this would take up too much space. However, it is large enough to carry my 8" Sony, all of the cords, plenty of dvds, headphones (two good sized ones, and most likely a backup battery as the case still has space left. In addition, the padding provided is excellent, and the velcro strap holds my player in place perfectly. It is perfect if going on a road trip (player can even be viewed while inside of case), or in my case for use as a protective covering and secure location for all the items I require for my DVD. player.

This came very quickly and was very easy to set up. It has the ability to play from the iPod, but I haven't used this feature yet. I have played DVD movies and they are very easy to play. Nice that a remote control comes with it, though I don't need to use it often. The movies play well and the speakers have plenty of sound, easy to hear! The pictures are clear and steady, no flickering or fading. If you leave it on, but not playing, the battery will be dead at the end of the day. (duh! -- I forgot!) It will play while plugged in, but won't charge till you turn it off. I just plug it in at night, and it will run many hours. It's lightweight and fits nicely in the niche on the top of my treadmill, so I can watch movies or programs while working out. I use my earphones for this and the sound through them is great! (I got the Augen earphones from Overstock, and they are the most comfy with the best sound -- no more sore ears from extended use!!). The other thing that is nice about this DVD

This was a gift for my son, who is a young minister, in a ASL congregation, and views dvd's in his door to door ministry. There's a lot of information on his ipod that he likes to share on his dvd player. Before he used his laptop, but that was too heavy large. This is great for him, and is lighter to carry.

Picture quality was poor. It was pale and there was a lack of sharpness. Dealing with the company to return the set was worse. It was returned the next day at our expense ($26). Our refund was $17l.49, which was $99.28 less than the price we paid. Company policy stated that there would be a $50 restocking fee (unacceptable policy), but what was the additional $49.28 for? The company has yet to respond to our query. In essence, for the service of having a picture-poor TV delivered to us and kept for one day, we lost $125.28 (almost half) of the original price of $270.77! Do not buy this set or deal with this company under any circumstances.

I thought this was a GREAT value, however, I didn't read the "this is a refurbished unit" even though it was noted on the web page for the item . The packaging it was shipped in made it look as if it was a brand new product, however, after reviewing the packing slip, that's when I realized it was a refurbished product. I loved the fact it has such a large screen, and many options for viewing. However, I received the product yesterday, and the battery will not charge which doesn't do me much good in an airplane or out in the woods camping. Therefore, I'm sending it back. Toshiba is noted for quality products and I think I just got one of the few batteries that didn't take a charge. Oh, well . . . next time I'll insure that I read all the product information and make sure it's a new unit, not refurbished.

I purchased this player hoping to use it as an MP3 playback device, replacing my CD player, in my home stereo cabinet. (I've recently ripped my entire CD collection and have put the files onto a 32GB USB stick.) Unfortunately, the user interface for MP3 playback is unusable for anything beyond a small number of files.
- Coby's interface ignores filesystem hierarchy on the USB stick, so instead of allowing me to select one of the top-level directories I've created such as "classical" or "rock/pop" or "soundtracks", the Coby player simply scans the entire USB stick and presents me with a single list of several hundred subdirectories of MP3 files. No Coby, that's not how I ordered the files within the file system, and that's not how you should display them to me. Modern operating systems have understood the concept of "folders within folders" for 20 years now, but Coby's software doesn't.
- The interface shows only the first 6-10 characters of each directory name.
- There is no rapid-scroll

I love mine! My Mom bought this for me after we looked at different ones for months. It's great, it comes with alot of features so you can do a bunch of fine tuning so it's just right to see, many others don't have that capability. I've taken it all over, plays CD's audio books you name it. I put my picture discs in I've made in it & everyone can see what I've taken anywheres. Picture is very clear & easy on the eyes & that was a big plus for me as I'm a diabetic & have migraines. It doesn't trigger the headache & some will. The battery doesn't go flat in a short amt of time like some do & the USB port adds even more versatility. I've dragged mine around for almost a year & never a problem. So much fun & worth the money spent too! Great little player!!!

I purchased this system in January of '07. It had always given off a lot of heat so I purchased a laptop cooler. However, it still ran very hot.
One day, I realized that it would not close all the way. When I opened it up, I realized that the plastic bezel around the screen had expanded from the heat and actually split apart. I call HP technical support and even though it was still under warranty by one day, they said I must have damaged it because "it was impossible" for the bezel to come apart like that. They said I could send it in to be fixed but it would cost 700.00 to fix the display (the entire system had only cost 1000.00).
I called back another couple of days later and they said they couldn't help me since the laptop was no longer under warranty.
HP had always had a reputation for solidly built PCs. However after the problems I had with this system and the lack of sufficient support and the actual rudeness associated with tech support basically accusing me of lying,

The other people didn't read the package: it says 6 hours playback when the brightness of the screen is dimmed. On an airplane or train with the shades down it is perfectly visible on the moonlight setting.

Got this player to use on my treadmill as I walk. The only complaint I have is the audio. Even off the treadmill the volume is so low that it is difficult to hear. Otherwise, it was a good value for the money.

This dvd player works fine. The problem is if you want a spare battery you have to buy a battery pack (toshiba & their dealer do not have a description of this) for $169. They are not avail. until Nov. 2008. For the price of a spare battery you might as well buy two DVD players or buy a different brand.

I am a bed-ridden invalid who spends a great deal of time reading or watching DVD's. As such, i have used many of these portable players. i have purchased several of them from Overstock.com. they are not intended to be left on twenty-four hours a day, but i confess that this is often what i must do. in addition, they sit too close to an ashtray and in a room with a down comfortoer that releases small bits of floating white goosedown. these small pieces of fluff land on everything. They get caught in fans, in my hair and also on the DVD players. Some of these players do not last long under this sort of duress. Phillps dies fairly quickly but two brands I keep coming back to are Polaroid and toshiba. The toshiba about which i write is wonderful because the picture is fantgaststic, you can run many of the options it has without the remote control and when i fall asleep and leave it on for twenty-four hours, it seems to take the beating.

Great price---great sound---connects to your TV, if needed---it is so light compared to older portable DVD players---easy to use and the screen is bigger than the average one. Long lasting battery charge, too! I bought this for a gift, but would like one for myself. Worth buying!!

This is the first portable DVD Player I have owned. However after reading many reviews on other systems I took a chance with the 9 inch Audiovox. So far this unit has proven to be a good buy. With the 9 inch screen the picture quality is excellent especially when watching movies in wide screen mode.
Like most other portable DVD reviews I saw the external speakers will work fine if you are in a quite place, if not you will need earphones to hear the movie or music.
This unit has comes with a 3 point AV Jack conversion so you may use the system as a standard DVD play with a TV or LCD Projector.
I have used the unit with DVDs, DVD-R, music CD's, MP3 disk, and have also dropped some MP3 files onto a USB Tumb drive all work very well.
The only drawback I will note is the short battery life, only plan on two hour maximum. The product details only indicate a 2.5 hour battery. This is not an issue for me because I am almost always near some type of power outlet. This unit comes with

When this product was originally advertised, it included at 2-hour rechargeable battery pack, but when received, there was no battery pack, and the item number was different from the product I ordered. It seems they ran out of the product with the battery pack, and just sent a replacement (without informing us prior to shipping - I guess hoping we wouldn't notice).
The product itself works well, but is not "completely portable" without the pack.
VERY DISSAPOINTED
