Satellite L305-S5907 Intel Core 2 Duo T3200 2.0GHz Notebook
I purchased this Toshiba Satellite L305-S5907 laptop three weeks ago from Amazon and I've been impressed. Amazon shipped my machine quickly via UPS. It was on sale for about 24 hours so I got mine for $579 with no tax, and shipping was included. This is the best price I've found on a laptop with these specs. The Toshiba is fast, quiet, two pounds lighter than my 7 year old Dell, and looks great. I've had no troubles with Vista Premium working with this machine. My only complaints are the glare on the glossy screen, if you're outside, and the glossy plastic case, which looks good, but shows fingerprints easily. I don't play alot of games on my computer and this is certainly not a gaming machine with a separate graphics card. I have a Wii for that. It also isn't a television with a Blu Ray player and 17" widescreen. I have a LCD TV for that. The 15.4" widescreen is perfect for my use and looks great. You could spend $1200 for an entry level Mac but it would have much less memory,

Apple MacBook Pro with 15.4" Display
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3RM83V7DHZIBQ My name is Michael Manna and I host the T4 Show. It's a site that covers all technology news as well as performing podcasts and videos. I just received my MacBook Pro today and shot a quick tour. I haven't had a chance to fully review it yet, but I want to make a comment about Amazon Prime. It is the BEST. I ordered the MBP with 1 day shipping for $3.99 on Saturday, assuming it would be delivered on Tuesday. It arrived Monday before 10am. This is not the first time that has happened. I am a huge proponent of Amazon Prime, especially for Christmas shopping. Now I can play with my new MacBook Pro and not get bumped and shoved at the malls. Prime is the best!

HP Pavilion Elite Desktop with Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q9300
Worked well out of the box, better when I got rid of the garbage software, games, etc., that comes with all HP computers. My purpose was to run graphics programs, Photoshop, Lightroom quickly and well. It does that superbly; the fastest PC I have used. A bonus is that the computer case is very quiet, with no audible fan noise during normal operation. The various slots for insertion of HP's proprietary removable drives are of no value to me. Most of us would want a transportable drive to be useable on any other PC, not just another HP PC. My biggest gripe is the lack of a disk to reinstall the operating system or portions of it separately if needed. The built in push-one-button backup system using Microsoft's backup program is also pretty useless because one cannot restore a particular file from the backup. It's all or none.

ASUS M2N-MX SE Plus Desktop Board-MCP61P AM2 MAX 4GB DDR2 UATA CPNTPCIE16 2PCI SND GBE 2000M
The one IDE connection can only support 1 hard drive and 1 CD/DVD-ROM unless you add a PCI card to one of the slots or go SATA. The easier way to go is all external components as there are 8 USB connections. also any SATA devices can be hot swapped either external or internal.
I chose to buy an IDE/SATA to USB external extension cord to plug my old hard drives in for the migration of applications which is slightly cheaper than alohabob (the store PC relocater).
Although it is ready for TV out and Sony/Phillips Digital Interface, the Hi/def or Legacy97 connectors are labelled contrary to most Audio Front Panel jacks.
The only problem I had was the initial BIOS setup did not take the first try but worked fine on try2. Instructions said VERY IMPORTANT to load Xp OS first before adding Nvidia Driver support CD and I found that took 3 tries to get all the .dll's loaded, but finally worked.
Love all the BIOS features and the onboard ethernet jack got me on the web alot faster

Toshiba PSLD8U-00G001 Satellite L355-S7831 17.0" Notebook
I bought this computer for my father in law. I chose it because of the huge hard drive for a laptop(250GB), the 2.0 GHz Intel Pentium Dual Core Processors, and the 17" widescreen and full keyboard (has the numbers to the right). At my house we are a Mac family, but my father in law is 75 and has only known windows so we decided to purchase a pc for him. For the price, we got an awesome computer. It has the same processors as my 20"imac, and for half the price.

The only cons I have with this laptop is that:
(a) it's a pc (we just love macs)
(b) it runs on Vista (at least it's premium edition).

Other than that, if your looking for a lot of computer for a little money, then this is it!

My father in law only uses it to surf the web, check email, and look at pictures of the family we send. So for him, it works out perfect.

Apple MacBook Pro with 15.4" Display
This review is for the MB470LL/A (2.4GHZ CPU, 2GB Memory, 250GB Hard Drive) MacBook Pro released in late 2008. I bought this machine for my wife who had been using Windows machines for years, but never really "got into" them. I thought that Mac, known for its superior usability and user interface design might be a better choice for her. The rest of this review is in her words.

Let me begin by saying the following: I am a non techie, first time laptop owner. I have not owned any previous Macs, and all my previous experience is from a Windows PC. What I wanted from a computer was a place to keep all my photos, music, stories (I enjoy writing), etc; nothing extreme, just the everyday stuff that most people probably use their computer for. Why I wanted a laptop was because I have a little girl (9 months currently) and I wanted to be able to write from anywhere while still being able to keep an eye on her. So please take everything I write with this info in mind.

I had heard that

ASUS EPC900HA-BLK006X Eee PC 900HA 8.9" Netbook - Black
I have owned many notebooks including the older version of the EEE, "A big bang for the buck" is what I got with this one. Does as much as most notebooks worth more money. While the pro's are well known, I think it's important to point out some minor con's.

1) Battery life is not 5 hours, no matter how you use it. Best case 3+ hours.
2) The Touch pad comes with additional software, when activated has nice features (to use multi finger motion) but does not work as good on browsers other than IE.
3) Wireless: New networks are beter detected and activated if you use the software utility from hardware manufacture Atheros or Asus.

I would still recomend this Little work horse for is Price design and very minor problems. Good Luck

HP Pavilion Slimline Desktop w/Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor E5200
I've owned this little powerhouse for a couple of weeks now and have to say, coming from an almost 8 year old desktop and a core 2 duo laptop, I'm definitely impressed. I was a little leary of Vista due to some negative reviews/feedback from friends, but as of late I've been unable to slow this thing down! The other day, I had the entire Office 2007 suite open, editing documents, Winamp playing MP3's, e-mule running, several Firefox browser windows, burned a CD using Nero 9 and then decided to run CCleaner for kicks. No 'coaster' CD, not a skip via Winamp, no hint of lag whatsoever! Unless you're planning on some hardcore gaming, this thing will manage just about any multimedia task to your heart's content - the only thing missing would be an HDMI output. I have this hooked up to HP's 22" widescreen LCD monitor, which complements the very small and chic case the PC is housed in perfectly. Vista's only feature that annoys me (aside from oversimplification for someone who knows computers

Satellite L305-S5907 Intel Core 2 Duo T3200 2.0GHz Notebook
Toshiba Satellite L305-S5907 15.4-Inch Laptop (2.0 GHz Intel Pentium Dual Core T3200 Processor, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Drive, DVD Drive, Vista Premium)

FOR MANY YEARS I HAVE OWNED A DESKTOP. I FINALLY DECIDED IN DOING SOME RESEARCH TO EDUCATE MYSELF ABOUT LAPTOPS AND ALL IT HAS TO OFFER. IN DOING SO, I FOUND THIS WONDERFUL PRODUCT THROUGH AMAZON.COM. BEING A FIRST TIME BUYER OF A LAPTOP COMP, I WAS CONCERNED WITH THE PRICE AND SPECS OF A SUCH PRODUCT. THUS, I CHECKED MANY RETAIL STORES AND FOUND AMAZON.COM SAVED ME ABOUT $200. CUST SERVICE WITH AMAZON WAS A VERY DELIGHTFUL EXPERIENCE (WE ALL KNOW CUST SCE IS USUALLY A NIGHTMARE). I MUST REALLY SAY, AMAZON.COM WAS ABSOLUTELY INSTRUMENTAL IN ASSISTING ME WITH ALL MY QUESTIONS AND PURCHASE. ONE MORE THING, AMAZON INFORMED ME UPON MY PURCHASE, MY COMP'S ARRIVAL WILL TAKE ABOUT 7-10 DYS, WELL LET ME TELL YOU, I RECD THE PRODUCT VIA UPS IN 3 DYS. THANK YOU AMAZON. I WILL DEFINITELY RECOMMEND YOU TO MY FRIENDS AND CONTINUE DOING BUSINESS

ASUS EPC1000HA-WHI001X Eee PC 1000HA 10" Netbook - Pearl White
Overall, I love my new netbook. The 10" screen size is perfect, not too small. I can easily slip it into my purse, and 3.3lbs is light enough, the shiny black exterior is beautiful but can show smudges easily. Booting up is surprisingly fast as is general processing; I am not super tech-savvy, and used it right out of the box, without manipulating anything to increase performance. The keyboard feels almost full size to me, but I have smaller hands, so typing is no problem.
Some minor anoyances do exist, however: The right "shift" button is farther right on the keyboard than usual. In its usual place is the "up arrow" so there has been some mishaps when I type fast. The other issue is the netbook doesn't connect up to the internet through my Linksys wireless router without my rebooting the router. This doesn't happen everytime, but happens when the router is rebooted when the netbook is not on (as when the power goes off) .
I would highly recommend this netbook for its price-for-performance,

Apple MacBook Pro with 15.4" Display
The new MacBooks were out and boy was I ever excited. I watched Steve Jobs' performance, saw the machines were really and truly to die for, just like he was saying they were. These were the next best thing since sliced bread. I had to have one and I had to have it now. I went right online to the Apple store and ordered mine right up. Then I did my last backup of my fifteen inch MacBook, a machine I really loved, but I was going to love the new one so much more, so backup complete, I put my baby on eBay and seven days later I packed it up and shipped it out.

And for a whole two days I was sans MacBook, but then I got the knock. The FedEx guy was at the door with my new MacBook. I was one happy girl. Okay, I was a little disappointed to see I couldn't hook my new baby up to my twenty-three inch Apple Cinema Display, because Apple changed the connection on the new MacBooks and they didn't supply an adapter and only one company makes those adapters. Guess who? You guessed it. Apple! Was this

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi 12.2-Megapixel Digital SLR Camera - Silver
I have a one-year-old and a six-year-old. This camera probably is the best investment that I did for their childhood. With this camera, I am able to capture so many images that a point-and-shoot camera could not. Now I print out large prints and rotate them on my family room wall regularly. Everyone was delighted to see the pictures and surprised to know that they were done by me. When my kids are grown, these pictures probably will be the closest thing that can tell them how their mother saw them when they were young.

Apple MacBook Pro with 17" Display
Background:
I wanted to buy the new unibody MacBook Pro.
Tried it at the Apple store and here are my findings and opinions,
and comparisons with the March 2008 model (MB134LL/A - the one I bought and am reviewing).

Display on unibody model is super glossy and very reflective - and has no option for matte finish.
Keyboard on unibody model did not feel as nice as the March 2008 model.
Unibody model is slightly larger - bezel width is more than the March 2008 Model.
Also, the March 2008 model is a lot cheaper (about $700),
and there is an additional $150 rebate from Amazon.
Meaningful specs difference:
2.5 GHz versus 2.53 GHz CPU in the new high end one,
2 Gigs of RAM versus 4 Gigs of faster RAM in the new high end (I upgraded to 4GB myself for $60),
8600M GT 512MB versus 9600M GT 512MB in the new high end (20-30% faster),
250GB 5400RPM versus 320GB 5400RPM in the new one (more on this below),
The new one also has dual graphics (use the lower power one for more battery),
but I'd always

ASUS EPC1000HA-WHI001X Eee PC 1000HA 10" Netbook - Pearl White
The ASUS Eee 1000 pc is a fantastic little netbook. I got the HA because it was over 50 dollars cheaper than the H, with the only differences being lack of bluetooth and wireless N, neither of which I need.

This netbook is great for what I needed. I bought it so that I could take notes in class without having to haul my 17 inch monstrosity to class, as well as taking it to the library and study rooms. Interestingly, its use has expanded for me. I just use it as a secondary computer. My laptop might as well be a desktop because it never moves from the tabletop anymore. The netbook does just about everything I do with my normal laptop. I do plenty of word-processing, browsing the web, powerpoints, etc. When studying, I often have a browser with half a dozen tabs open, several powerpoint documents, and some word documents. The computer doesn't skip a beat.

This computer shouldn't be expected to do anything even remotely graphics intensive. I do, however, use it to watch hulu sometimes,

ASUS EEEPC900-BK041 Eee PC 900 8.9" Notebook - Galaxy Black
This is not a full review, just a informational post on Xubuntu 8.10 and this netbook.

I switched from the Xandros linux that the eee pc 900 came shipped with to Xubuntu 8.10 to run a USB727 modem through Verizon. It works great but I had to add another script to get wifi working on Xubuntu, as the original distribution would not recognize this computer's wifi.

I previously installed Windows XP and it was so much slower than Xandros or Xubuntu, so I reinstalled a linux platform (Xubuntu) and it works great. Even the internet and browsers work faster. What a difference! I do prefer Xubuntu/Ubuntu over Xandros.

This netbook does exactly what it's meant to do. Light, portable, nice GUI. Three USB slots which is a huge plus. And lots of free and very useful applications because of linux. The 1.3mp camera is a great addition and Skype comes in a linux version as well. You can install other platforms through the usb drive if you don't have an optical drive to plug into the usb port. Try Fedora's

Apple MacBook with 13.3" Display
I'd previously owned the first $1099 white Macbook that Apple introduced when the switched to using Intel chips. It was a good machine, but this one blows it out of the water. Not only does it take on some of its older brother's look, but it truly is an impressive machine with the the additional touch pad.

Pros:

- Beautiful, seamless design similar to the previous Macbook Pro aluminum design
- Easy to open compartment on the bottom for accessing the hard drive, battery, and RAM
- Doesn't get very "Hot." I've yet to think I need to put it on something when its on my lap, even despite watching DVDs or doing other intensive work.
- Quick little machine. As mentioned, blows my original Macbook out of the water
- Side Battery Readout
- Touch Pad (this is a plus and minus)
- Bright, LED screen (although its glossy, I personally prefer the matte finish)
- New Nvidia graphics chipset... Much better than the Intel GMA

Cons:

- Sometimes, for me, the track pad doesn't "click" (seems to be a known

Apple MacBook Pro with 15.4" Display
I just purchased the pro yesterday at my local Apple Store. I have had it for less then 24hrs so far, and I love it. I was going to get the high end Macbook, and then at the last minute decided on the low end Pro upgraded with 4GB of Memory. I am so glad I did. It is so fast, and powerful. The display is what made me make the final choice. It is still very portable. It weighs the same as my black macbook, and is thin. It would be very easy to just to throw in my backpack and be on my way. Also the firewire. It was going to be the easiest way to transfer all my data from my old black macbook to the pro. It only took and hour and a half, and I have all my information. I didn't have to do anything, just started it up and began to play. I didn't have Leopard on my old one, and I love it so far. It is easy and the graphics and set up are great. I love the stacks options, and the lighted keyboard. I also love how the controls for the dashboard, screen brightness, keyboard brightness,

ASUS Eee Box PC (1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB Hard Drive, XP Home) Pure White
I love this little machine. I would buy 10 more if I only had the need to do so. I probably use this computer a little differently than most, but really this computer gives 98% of the people out there all the performance they need, all while taking little space, making virtually zero noise, using little energy, and all at a very low price. If my 79 year old grandmother didn't already have a desktop PC, I'd have bought this machine for her in a heartbeat.

Now, like I said, I probably use this machine a little differently than most. I have it set up behind my entertainment center, behind my HDTV. I have it attached to my network, really, to serve 5 different purposes. One, as a general file server for the various machines on my network. Two, as a streaming media server (music and video files) to my PS3 and XBOX 360 to enjoy everything on my HDTV and through the AVR. Four, I use it to operate as my BitTorrent box; I use this machine to download and seed torrents without tying up any

Nikon 12.9-Megapixel Digital SLR Camera - Black
Got the camera and the 18-200 lense a few weeks back. I am upgrading from a D70. Overall, I am very satisfied with the quality of the pictures - much better response in low light - higher ISO and better focus than the 70. Love the lens as well - this will be all I need for everything.

I did have an issue with the camera where I was getting F-- errors intermittently - depending on how I held the camera. This is a lens error per documentation. I was also getting CHA errors on the camera which is a chip error and only recoverable by removing the battery. Given that I was only 2 weeks into the camera I spoke with Amazon and exchanged the unit and lens for a replacement. I am confident that the new unit, which I got very quickly from Amazon - will function fine.

Great unit and the video is a great feature.
