Panasonic 42" 720p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV
I expected a better picture. I have just watched TV on a tube for years and heard plasmas are great, but maybe I need the 1080 as well. I don't know enough about electronics to really know if the 1080 would help with the picture but up close it's a little spotty. It's great from a distance and it serves it's purpose for me. I am thinking about getting my dad the same one with the 1080. I love the flat screen and the size is perfect!

Panasonic 42" 720p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV
After two months of comparing models & prices, reading internet reviews, and visiting stores for hours of free viewing, I finally decided on purchasing the Samsung 42" plasma, due to the family's budget.
Sadly my bedroom's 32" Olevia LCD died in about 15 months, so I really did my homework this time. Unfortunately, my decision to buy was during the no-tax weekend, and the local BB was like a human feeding frenzy.
However this particular day turned out to be advantageous. So anyway, I'm standing in front of the Panasonic 42" Viera and absolutely loving the picture quality! The Samsung and the LG both looked great also, but the Panasonic was noticeably better. The store clerk interrupts me and asks if I'm ready to purchase. I said yes, but informed him that since my "out-the-door" budget was under $1K, I wanted the $897 Samsung. The Panasonic's price tag was $998 + 9.9% state tax.
After checking for availability, he returned and sadly said they were out of the Samsung

LG Washer/Dryer Pedestal with Storage Drawer
I own a Panasonic 50 inch plasma TV - just can't rave about that TV. So, when I needed a 42 inch TV to attach to a PS3 - I was wavering between a plasma (yet again) and LCD tv (the first try). I know Panasonic Plasmas rock - but then again getting PC connectivity was very important consideration, Panasonic Plasma's didn't have a PC port (s-video ports are poor substitute for pc connectivity as picture quality is very very bad). For PC connectivity - you can't beat LCDs.

Made my mind to buy Toshiba Regza 42 inch lcd TV based on Reviews- Looked TVs at Circuit City, then again looked at Best Buy with my family. This LG set seemed to beat Toshiba both in clarity, and picture details in every one's opinion. Panasonic 42 inch (and 50 inch) 1080P plasma's (picture and) sound quality will blow any thing in 42-50 inch TVs and there is no doubt about it. This LG TV looks great - picture with PS3 in 1080P are stunningly beautiful, the set looks very nice and sound quality is good (and crisp) (but

Panasonic 42" 720p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV
This is the 4th Panasonic HDTV that I've purchased in the past 2 years. Always had good luck with them until now. This set worked for about 30 minutes and then the picture and sound were gone. Called Panasonic and waited on hold for over 35 minutes, was put through to the wrong dept. twice (another 15 minutes) and then the person that finally set up an appt. for a repair person to come out was RUDE. The repair was done in less then 48 hrs. and the person who came to the house was terrific. I am, however DONE with Panasonic. The product is good, but when there's poor support it's not worth buying.

Panasonic 42" 720p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV
I've had it for only 1 day so far. Whereas the manufacturer recommends about 100hrs break-in period, I have seen a huge improvement in picture quality since just in the last 24hrs. Of course, I put the TV on a channel that doesn't constantly show their logo and left it on the whole day while I was at work. Regular standard signal looks very clean for an HD TV set. Its not too grainy at all. HD signal over the air looks sharper. I matched it with a sony upconverting DVD player hooked via HDMI and the sound and image quality is superb. It upconverts automatically to 1080p. This TV has an optical out so you can get the best digital TV sound to your receiver. The one HD station I received broadcaseted in Dolby digital. I picked this set after weeks of research from which I concluded that for a 42 inch TV, you really won't see a difference between 720p vs 1080p. And an added advantage is that 720p looks nicer if you have standard signal for your tv. For those who are picky - the remote looks

LG Washer/Dryer Pedestal with Storage Drawer
I just purchased this TV from Circuit City on sale yesterday for $1099. Right out of the box, the picture was fantastic. I did tweak it a little--brought the brightness up a bit and the color down at bit, and it looks really good now. I have Time-Warner HD service connected via an HDMI cable--it's awesome. The black levels seem very good to me, and the clarity of the picture is excellent. The non-HD channels are very clear too, but obviously not as good as HD. I have the audio runnning via a digital optical cable to my Sony receiver. I did test the speakers on the TV itself--OK sound--not gonna rumble your living room, but that doesn't matter to me because I will never use them.
So, in conclusion, LG has a fine product here--look at this one compared to Sony or Samsung--it is just as good or maybe even better in my opinion, because you'll save yourself $300-$500 over the price of those models.

Panasonic 42" 720p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV
You really can't go wrong purchasing this TV. Don't base your decision directly on the Cnet review and instead head over to AVSForum. You'll find a 80+ page thread with numerous reviews done by experts in the field. All of which are very positive and explain why CNet's review isn't too reliable.

Unlike Panasonic's earlier model, the 77U, this TV has an excellent picture right out of the box. There's no need for an expensive calibration or messing with service menu's. I've found my favorite settings, thanks to someone on AVSForum, is:

Picture Mode: Cinema
Picture: 84
Brightness: 40
Tint: -2
Sharpness: 50
Color Temp: Warm
Color mgmt: off
x.v.Color: off
Video NR: off
MPEG NR: off
Black Level: light

You'll find a ton of other settings there too so just do a google search.

This TV also seems very reliable. Out of over 3000+ posts I only saw maybe three that were returned due to a serious failure. (All of which were promptly replaced/repaired) Panasonic also has a really cool warranty service

LG Washer/Dryer Pedestal with Storage Drawer
I've had this TV for a week. Hooked it up to a Comcast HD/DVR via HDMI. HD channels are spectacular as you would expect. Seems to do a good job with SD channels. Black levels seem perfectly fine to me. Overall design is very attractive with hidden speakers and a simple thin chrome strip across the bottom and a light that glows red when in standby and blue when on. Sound quality is very good for a TV. Picture quality was pretty good out of the box. I did reduce the backlighting and red a bit. Liked that it has both a USB and VGA input in this price range. Got it for $1215. Photo viewing is good. Can play background music and slide shows from folders on the USB drive. The remote says its universal, but I cannot get it to work with the Comcast box or my Toshiba DVD. Did get my Comcast remote to work with the TV so not really a problem. No regrets. Would buy this again.

Panasonic 42" 720p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV
I purchased this TV hoping that it would be live up to the stunning user reviews and put my Samsung DLP to shame. I was afraid I would not want to watch TV on my larger DLP after buying it. Unfortunately, the noise reduction on this unit is really bad (most likely non-existent) and the picture has snow especially with dark scenes and HD content. The review of the TV on CNET.com also points out the bad noise reduction and warns buyers to look elsewhere if they want a crystal clear picture. I wish that they had posted it before I bought the TV . As every other reviewer has mentioned in their reviews, the black levels are excellent. However, in my opinion, the lack of proper noise reduction makes the picture look like a mix between HD and SD at a considerable 9ft distance. Anything less than 9ft should not be considered. When I sit 12-15 ft away, I get a clear picture that's comparable to my DLP but it almost feels like I'm sitting in a different room.

I have contacted Panasonic to

Toshiba REGZA 42" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
My Grandfather just bought this tv with my help, it is great (so far) we got the the Best Buy 4yr warranty with it ($149.99). I had a 10% off coupon (applied to tv price) so warranty really only cost $29.99. Picture is awesome, upgraded grandpa to HD channels with Bright House cable ($6.95 promo price for one year). He is now the big dog on the block with this tv. It has an awesome picture. I would have given it 5 stars if this wasn't such a recent purchase, never know what problems might crop in 6 months. Overall very pleased and have talked with others who made same purchase and are also very pleased. I can definitely recommend this tv. Also love the fact that it has 4 HDMI ports!!!

Toshiba REGZA 42" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
I have the 42RV530 hooked up to my PC (DVI->HDMI). Wow, what a picture! This HDTV supports 1:1 pixel mapping/native mode, has lots of settings to tweak, has a fast response time (no ghosting), and even has a game mode to reduce input lag, should you need it (I don't find it necessary). Blu-Ray movies look amazing at 1080P, PC games (e.g. Crysis) are so much more enthralling on the big screen, and text is crisp when surfing the web. The 42RV530 has tons of inputs, and even offers an optical OUTPUT. I now have a self-powered Over-the-Air antenna and receive HDTV for free (NBC, ABC, etc); aside from the 1080i/720P OTA TV, you can also use the 42RV530's optical output to send Dolby Digital-encoded sound to your receiver. Watching Lost or the Office in high-def with DD sound is great! 1080P LCDs are pricey, but I've found the 42RV530 to be worth every penny.

Panasonic 42" 720p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV
Can't expand much more than the other 5 star reviews of this TV. It is everything I expected and more. Absolutely stunning audio and video. Best value I found after a good month of looking.

I'm using the TV exclusively as a monitor. It's connected full time to a Mac Mini and HD OTA Antenna. I cancelled my satellite subscription, saved $60/month and am getting 40 HD channels (I live in Long Beach, CA..good antenna reception) and unlimited HD internet content between iTunes and what major networks are posting on their websites.

Would have been nice to have a PC input..but DVI to HDMI cables are pretty cheap. Overall I am extremely happy with this purchase.

Panasonic 42" 720p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV
First, I can't believe I've bought the hype that it's a good deal to buy a 42-inch TV for 1K (12/2007), even if the prices have stayed about the same.

This TV has a great picture, colors are vivid and blacks are black. We put this one in our bedroom. It's borderline too large for our bedroom. It's close to looking like we have a bed in our TV room. This may be a bit of my envy showing. This TV is far better than my living room TV and even though I'd like a slightly larger set for the living room, this set is so much better than what I currently have. The colors are just so much more vivid. I moved my Xbox back to play Bioshock. The picture was stunning.

The only complaint I have is the sound. It has been tough to manage it, especially after my wife falls asleep. I feel like Goldilocks. The sound is either too loud or too quiet, but never just right.

Digital shows look good, HD shows shine. Just remember if you are watching shows not shown in HD, you lost a lot of the TV screen.

Toshiba REGZA 42" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
I have been shopping around for my HDTV since November. The biggest issues for me were price + size + reliability. I was never set on 1080p, but when the prices for the older models went back up after the super bowl, I couldn't see paying MORE or EQUAL for a 720p.

The Samsung models claim to have Picture In Picture, which was a feature I really wanted, but don't be fooled. The PiP on the 500 series Samsung's is extremely limited: the picture in picture window can ONLY display analog television. You can not have two hdmi sources on the screen at the same time, and if you have satellite or digital cable the only possible use for this limited PiP is to have rabbit ears or analog cable channels in the PiP.

Due to the lack of real PiP being available, I went with the Toshiba because I played with it at a store, and it had the best remote/on-screen menus for quickly switching between sources. I only have 3 sources I use, digital cable -hdmi, my computer (using a DVI to HDMI cable, much better

Toshiba REGZA 42" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
After researching various makes and models online, it was time for us to view the televisions in-person this weekend and this 42-inch LCD by Toshiba came out the winner. Actually, it's a toss-up between whether we or the TV happens to be the winner, but here's what went into our decision:

Full 1080p - sure, the 720p's are out there and they look fine at this size, but the minute you feed a true 1080p source in (blu-ray dvd, a gaming system, your computer, etc.) you would have to content with loss of picture of some sort, so we opted to not have to upgrade this set for a while.

Great picture and color representation. I compared this with both current and last-year models of Samsungs, LG's, Sony's and so on and of that group (in factory-standard settings) I found the color of the toshiba to be the most natural (Samsungs seemed a bit "fluorescent" and LGs a bit "wiggly." In addition, watching both slow and fast action shots on this set were both fine whereas the others may have had trouble

Toshiba REGZA 42" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
I just purchased this Toshiba 42 inch 1080p television and have been blown away by the picture quality both in HD and SD. Set-up was about 15 minutes from the box to turn-on. The stand was easy to install and the set-up on the TV was a snap.I have it hooked up to my hi-def cable box and I am quite impressed by the clarity and sharpness of the picture. The HD is outstanding and the SD channels looke great! I am watching a standard definition DVD of a Boz Scaggs concert, which looks hi-def, and it is hooked up to the component video connection. There are plenty of audio and video inputs to satisfy anyone. I am not surprised by the beauty of this television, as I already own another Toshiba 42 inch HD TV with 1080p resolution, and I have always been happy with that set. My next purchase will be a hi-def DVD player to complete the HD experience. And by the way, the sound from the TV is actually quite good, so I can take my time to find a compact speaker system to connect this to. I would highly

Toshiba REGZA 42" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
I researched for over 6 months on LCD tv's and finally made the decision to go with this model. I am very happy to say that ive made the right decision! I compared this tv side by side with many other higher priced tv's and could not see a difference. I admit I was hesitant because the price was much lower than other tv's with the same size/capacities. I figured, my family owned a Toshiba tv that lasted for over 12 years so it was a brand I could be comfortable with.

After taking it out of the box, it took 10/15 minutes to install the stand with the provided nuts/allen key. afterwards, just plugged the HDMI cord with the cable box and it was all ready! Side note, I purchased a 25 dollar phillips hdmi cable from walmart. (Even that might have been too much to pay), and turned on the tv. The picture was good but a few setting changes were needed. Some picture settings were set all the way to 100 (I guess thats factory default). After moving around some settings, the picture looks

Panasonic 42" 720p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV
I spent months researching TVs to see what to buy(plasma or LCD)and how to buy it. I purchased this TV and was I surprised. Not only did it arrive 4 days before I thought it would which was great. The delivery service unwrap it and lifted it up on the platform for me (bad back).
The picture is so clear its almost 3D. AMAZON ROCKS !!! I payed $100
less than any discount store could offer and I didn't even have to slep it home myself. The only problems I had were with the cable company turning on my HD cable.

Panasonic 42" 720p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV
I spent a few months reviewing plasmas and lcd's both in the big box stores and online. I watch a lot of sports, and the lcd's still have the motion blurring problem (except the expensive new ones). For me, that narrowed it down to the plasmas. Like others have said, the Panasonic's stood out from the rest of the plasma's (except for Pioneers, but they are almost double the cost). In terms of 1080 and 720 plasmas, I could not tell a difference between the two in 42". Maybe a little in the larger sets, but not in this size. Not worth the extra cost IMHO. So, I finally took the plunge on Panasonic's 720 42" when the price dropped below $1000, no tax, free shipping. A great deal for a TV that has been on the market for less than 2 months.

Delivery on the TV was fast (about 5 days early). They called a day ahead and delivered it within 1/2 hour of their estimated arrival. They made sure that the TV worked, and offered to take away all the packaging material. A+.

The TV was a snap

Toshiba REGZA 42" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
I purchased this two weeks ago, I got to look at some of the newer Samsung tvs and Sony Bravias and found this to have accurate colors and better specs.

I currently use this with an Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and a Scientific Atlanta 8300 Explorer HD dvr and everything looks great
I have no issues with the tv and ghosting is not a problem with this tv that plagues the previous models from Toshiba.

Blu-ray movies are gorgeous, at the price I paid $1199.99 nothing came close to it. I think this is the best 42" LCD TV you can buy right now, so if you got the cash go for it.

One thing that I suggest is you invest time tweaking the color modes, the default modes are sub par so I suggest you dive in and find out what suits you best.
