Pros: The great thing about it is I know how to replace because i have done it 2 times.
Cons: One replacement lasted 10 months, the next less than 2 months.
The original drive lasted about 4 years, first replacement about 10 months and the second replacement less than 2 months. This is in my part time spare machine, use it 1 or 2 times a week. Now, I have a warranty replacement from Seagate, so I can replace the bad drive with the warranty replacement, send the bad drive back to Seagate and get another spare drive.<br />It is easy to psychically replace the drive, but restoring the software takes days, about 5 years of Microsoft updates!

located the customer service phone number for Seagate and called it. The gentleman at Seagate that assisted me was extremely helpful. In fact I think that it was the best service that I have ever received by phone. He explained to me that I had purchased a Mac unit and should have purchased a different unit for the system that I had. I told him that the store that I purchased the unt from was about 20 minutes from my house and that I could return it for the correct sysem. He told me that I could use the unit that I had purchased but some conversions would have to be made. He first started explaining how to do this but immediately realized that I was not going to be able to understand his instructions. At this point I gave him permission to access and take over my computer to make the necessary changes. There is no way that I could have followed his instructions by phone and done what he did. Everything is now working great and my computer is being backed up daily. The only reason that I did not give an overall rating of Excellent is due to the "Ease of Installation". Without the assistance that I received from Seagate I would not have been able to use the unit that I purchased. I feel that the sales associate at Best Buy should have asked me about the type of system that I had.
