This is all you need for a rear-view camera. I paid 3-4 times this much to another vendor for a larger-screen gadget for my other car; it attaches to and is bigger than the rear view mirror and provides great color. It was a royal pain to install and cost me a bunch of money for my local garage mechanic. (the other vendor gave me a store credit to make up) But all you need is this little 2.5" screen in black and white (most of the time). I wish I had known about this before I bought my first one. You don't need HD! You just want to know if a kid or a dog or a bicyle is lying behind your car, and this gadget will tell you that for less than $100. I installed it with a little difficulty, in 3 or so hours, with just basic tools. If you are reasonably handy, and you get lucky like I did in terms of the accessibility of your back up lights, you can do it. Basically you need to run a wire from the back-up light, inside the trunk, and finagle it through to connect to the camera which you attach to the top of your rear license plate. If you can do that, the screen just plugs into the cigarette lighter, and you're in business. Worked the first time, for me. All these cameras are of necessity extremely wide angle, so that you see all you need to see, hence it is very difficult to judge how close you are to something as you back up. All they really tell you is, is there something back there, or is the coast clear. But that, as noted above, is all you really need to know.
