Emerson iTone Clock Radio for iPod (Black)

I bought this for the actual ALARM capabilities. The fact that I can choose the music to wake up with is the bonus. If I was using this primarily as a stereo, I might look elsewhere.

Because I bought this because I needed the multi-function alarm, I'm not inclined to be as choosy as other people. It also helps that I haven't had any of the commonly listed problems with my iTone. I bought this to use as a clock radio for my bedroom and love it! It has decent sound, it's easy to see the time in the middle of the wee hours and I appreciate the multiple alarm settings; I don't have to change the alarm from day to day when my schedule may vary.

Now for the negative aspects, for which I took away two stars. (Actually, I would have given this item 3.5 stars, but there isn't a way to go halvsies):

I wish that I could adjust the tone and/or bass. It's preset to where most people probably like it, but I would like to have the choice just the same. This is worth one star alone.

Secondly, it didn't come with the adaptor for a 5G Video iPod. Why not? They've been out long enough this should have been a standard. I am using the one they supply with the unit that is supposed to be for the 4G and it works fine. However, I wonder what I might be missing out on...

Finally, and this is slightly petty, the high-gloss black finish shows fingerprints and dust very easily. I think a matte finish may have been a better choice.

Having said all of this, if it were a very good price, I would think about getting another one to put in my kitchen. It's not a Bose, by any means, but you're not paying the Bose price tag, either. For the money, it's not a bad deal. If sound is a biggie for you, you may want to check out the iHome, also available here on Amazon. The sound on it is much clearer, and worth the higher price tag for audiophiles.

Say goodbye to changing CDs. Plug in your iPod and enjoy the music YOU want to hear!
