I got this for my new HTPC. I was amazed to find that WMV HD audio was only in 2 channels out of the optical port on my motherboard. I don't know if this is a problem with Windows 7 or just WMV/A HD in general but this effect my Amazon Unbox videos so I wasn't happy and I really didn't want to deal with analog outs. This sound card fixes that problem by flat converting everything to Dolby Digital. I was pretty skeptical that it would actually work or I would have bought a higher end one. In any case it does exactly what I wanted I think the only downside here is that everything is in Dolby Digital so that includes anything that was in DTS but I'll live with it.
