I researched DVD/VCR Recorders and read all the reviews before I purchased this unit. In setting it up I discovered that you can't use Timer Recording if you have a cable box. I don't remember reading this anywhere. When I called JVC customer support their comment was "It's been that way for so long we thought everyone already knew that". I didn't know that and I wish I did. Now I'm working with my cable company to determine if there is a way around this problem.
