I have had this for over 2 months. Like most that invest this much money in a TV I did a lot of comparison and research. I settled on the 46 inch A550 model because it had the best features for the money. Thought about the A650 but not wild about the maroon frame and I saw little difference in features and picture quality between these two models but a big price jump to the A650 I couldn't justify.
Picture - wow, out of the box it was just right. The menus are easy to navigate. I played with some changes to see if I could improve the picture but ended up going back to the settings out of the box. The blacks seem dark and natural to me. Yes plasma's are a hair better but certainly not noticable or anything I would complain about on this LCD.
Viewing angle - one of my concerns since the reviews say LCD's don't have as good a viewing angle. With a u-shaped couch in my home theater I still get a great view sitting at the end of the couch. Probably a 60 - 70 degree angle.
Remote - I like samsung remotes, well laid out easy to read. Durable
Sound - I haven't found a TV with a decent sound system. I am an audiophile and have a surrond sound system. It is the only way to go for true theater like viewing. The sound from the TV speakers is probably as good as any other but really haven't used it much.
Features - I like the way the TV automatically detects which AV ports are active so when you go to select a source it starts with an active one. It has 3 AV in - 2 on the back and one on the side. I was a little surprised to find that only the side AV in had an s-video jack. The backs ones don't . Not a big problem but some older players are not HDMI ready and s-video is still a good option.
Since I had checked out this model and seen it in stores my biggest concern was having it shipped by a freight carrier.
All I can say is it was Fast and Smooth! I was required to be there for delivery to sign. No problem at all. I had the TV on the wall 5 days after I ordered it . Picked it up under 1300 with sale price and ilivesearch cashback refund which I have received.
I highly recommend Overstock.com and the Samsung LN46A550
