Pros: Pretty box
Cons: Didn't work in my Dell
I have Dell Inspiron 519 mini tower. Asked salesman at store for a good card for Diablo 3. He recommended the Radeon 6750. Pricey, but OK. Got it home and discovered in fine print on the bottom of the box 450W power supply "recommended." Well OK, I have 300W, maybe it will work? Open it up and install, power up PC-- uh-oh, fan on the new board not turning, no video out. Back to the on-board video, and try the install disk to see if I missed something. Install disk reports, "No XFX product installed." A look at the Quick Install pamphlet reveals, "Some XFX cards may have a 4, 6, or 8 pin power connector on the card." Sure enough, a black 6 pin power connector I don't recognize on the edge of the board. I look around for one of these coming out of the power supply-- no dice. I did some research, and my options are-- 1: Buy SATA to PCIe 6-pin power adaptor on-line #about 6 bucks#, 2: Replace power supply #about 50 bucks#, 3: Give up on this card and go get something that works out of the box. So lets see, option 1 may or may not work, considering PS is only 300W, and option 2 would bring total price of this caper up to about 200 bucks-- $130 for the card, $25 for the DVI cable --no VGA out on the card, $50 for PS. 200 bucks is about half the price of the whole computer, all to play Diablo 3. Looks like this turkey's going back to the store. Regards required PCIe 6-pin plug, salesman did not mention, and also no mention of this anywhere in the on-line specs for this board, or on the outside of the box. You have been warned. Guess I am behind the times. It has been a long time since I dug this deep into the guts of a desktop PC, and thing have changed,
