Pros: access to all your files anywhere!
Cons: premium software not so good.
I saw the reviews on this hard drive and thought that I should be wary; however, my experience so far has been quite the opposite. I have been quite impressed with the hard drive, which is completely silent and is connected to your router so it can be out of sight. It just stays on and you forget it. After you install the software and set up the online access, it is truly remarkable. It is remarkable that I can put things on that hard drive while I am at home and then have access to them anywhere in the world. If you put music or movies on this hard drive, you not only can view the movies and listen to the music while on your network through your iphone or ipad, but also anywhere in the world that you can connect to the internet. This device literally allows you to have your own streaming service/cloud. The basic software sync/back up softward that this comes with is ok. I upgraded to the premium for a free 30-day trial and it slowed down the computer. I think the very basic software is not too bad. Furthermore, I cannot find any good back up/syncing software anywhere anyway. I have tried Novastor, Rebit, and others and found them to not be so great and you cannot stream or access the files while on the road unless you have their software. I just need a virtual cloud which this allows--without any annual/monthly fees. For $160, it is a bargain.
