My Glyph drive failed after one year of moderate usage. I have returned it to the vendor and it has gone to Glyph for ATTEMPTED data recovery, estimated time line of two weeks. This drive failed sooner than any external drive I have used in eight years. I can't comment yet on warranty service, but for a drive twice as expensive as other drives of the same capacity I should not need to find out. The ventilation system fan noise is more noticeable than other drives, and clearly did little to prevent the drive from failing. My advice: buy two drives for this price from another manufacturer and back up to the second drive after every work session.

i've been using glyph drives for about 10 years. this is probably the 15th firewire glyph drive i've purchased. i'm an engineer and producer in the music industry and glyph has become (for the most part) an industry standard. we use these drives for our digital recording systems. i have yet to run into any major problems with these drive. they're fast, durable and reliable. and i do all my backups on glyph drives. i've had a lacie and ezquest drive fail on me while the glyph's have been solid. this is the one to get for a portable, professional hard drive.
