I agree completely with the previous review. I also wanted to add that, in case you hadn't picked up on it and it's not mentioned in the product description at all, this unit does not have any internal speakers. And it does not come with a stand. So that's another $200-$400 dollars. Other than that, once it was all set up, I loved the picture and sound.

I purchased this TV as a Christmas present for my son. He had the Geek Squad come out to mount it as it did not come with a stand or mounting brackets. They told him Sony hadn't mad a plasma TV in three years and that this set wasn't even Hi Def, and it was hopelessly outdated. It would cost a lot to even try to convert it. They also said that it wasn't even a "real" TV but some kind of a monitor to be used in business settings i.e. boardroom, airport etc.

I am embarrassed to have given it as a present as it looks like it was something I picked up at a flea market! Now I need to go through the hassle of returning it.

I bought this based on the information provided by Overstock.com, which was woefully inadequate.

I
would love to share my experience with this product after opening the
box. Warning up front! You will need lots of help on this! There are so
many new hookups for this, your old cable or Satellite set-up may not
be able to fully function. I had to go out and buy a s-video cord, then
have Direct TV send out a tech just to help me set this up. Finally
after a WEEK, we got it to work.... however... if you don't have a HD
box... you channels will look over pixelated, overly bright and blurry.
So, if you already have a HD ready unit to hook up to this you are
fine, but for the rest of us who thought all we had to do was buy a new
set and it would work... I'm sorry to say no.
