I tried this c330, couldn't return as the box has been opened. Sold within a few days for $30 below my purchase price.
The c330 is very accurate, but I missed more than 5 turns since it only says "turn right in .5 mile" instead of "turn right on Main Street"
Say, how do I mentally calculate if it is .5 mile while I am driving and the side streets are close to each other?
Now, this c330 was good one or two years ago, but now it is out-dated.
I purchased the c340 just days ago. c340 works with text to voice; and boy, it is so much better and let you have worry-free driving experience. When it say "turn left on Rivera Street", my eyes can double check easily with the street sign. So far with the c340, I have not missed a turn.

Amazon's listing for the C330 says that "every unit sold will come with the most recent map version". This statement is not true. I just got a brand new C330, which is loaded with City Navigator North America "V8" maps (found by touching Map, then Map Info). Today I visited the Garmin web site, went to the map update page, and entered my device's serial number. The web site told me that an update is available for my unit: "Map Update 2008 City Navigator".
Somewhat perplexed, I called Garmin's customer support line and received the following explanation from Peggy. The V8 map package was issued in June 2006. A newer mapset, version 2008, was issued in June 2007. However, the size of the improved and more detailed database in version 2008 is larger than will fit in the memory of the C330. Therefore, when you install the update, you have to choose whether you want to load the database for United States, or the one for Canada. The Canadian subset includes all of Canada plus the border

FYI: If you bought a c330 series that has v8 version, don't worry. Just call Garmin at 800.800.1020, they will send you the updated map for the current year you buy their product without charge. (You will have to pay for the next update map) No matter where you get it, they will send you the CD okay. Hope this help. Happy Thanksgiving!!

At first we were not sure how much we will use it or not, so we were hesitant to spend the money. But we use it a lot. It is much more helpful than we expected and easy to use (even if its your first one, like ours). I thought it was mainly to find an address. It offers a lot more. At any point you can look for gas, food, parks... . Later I bought a Honda with a nav system. Let me put it this way, if where I have to go is important or we go on a long trip, we still bring the Garmin.

I have had the StreetPilot 330 for a little over a month and just completed a 4000 mile road trip. The StreetPilot is very user friendly and very intuitive on set up and operation. This GPS is extremely useful in navigating through major and unfamiliar large metropolitan areas (Nashville, TN, Kansas City, Memphis and Little Rock).
I did discover that entering an incorrect address will take you to the incorrect location, but using the search function for my motel, I was able to get to the correct address.
There were a few glitches as to a right or left location of resturants and exits. The SP330 would tell me the restaurant or exit was on the left, but it was on the right side of the road.
There were occasions where the screen showed me in the middle of a field while I was on the highway. It may have been that it was a new road and the map version was not the latest version.
Overall I am very happy with the easy to use StreetPilot 330.

I bought the c330 for a few reasons. 1.) One of my jobs requires me to do a lot of driving to places I am unfamiliar with. 2.) I am moving to a new city soon and I don't know where ANYTHING is.
For my job, I was able to create my own POIs in Google Earth & POIedit and import them into my c330. From there, it would tell me where I should go based on what was closest to me. It cancelled out hours of planning and printing.
The voice is very clear and I changed it to have a british accent because...why not?
There is so much you can do with this...and on the rare occasion it gives me a weird direction, I just disobey and it gives me new directions.
I honestly don't know what I would do without it and I cannot wait to use it once I move :)

Not if you own this little gem. We were shopping for a used car, there was one at a good price in Atlanta, we rented a car and the cashier asked if we wanted to rent a GPS, I almost said no, but not really knowing Atlanta all that well I said yes, the GPS astounded me, precise directions from door to door, and I even made a wrong turn and the GPS got me back on course, unbelieveable! I went home that night and ordered this little GPS, I found a car that we wanted, it was in Miami, almost 800 miles away, my GPS arrived the day before we were to drive down to get the car, piece of mind, knowing that my journey was now trouble free.
After dropping off the rental car at the airport we took a taxi to pick up the car, the taxi driver had no clue where the address was, I asked him to pull over, went in my suitcase and got my GPS out, within a minute we were going in the right direction, the taxi driver was so amazed that he asked where I got it and how much it was. If you drive. you should have

I purchased the TomTom 510 for $399.00 and the Garmin 330 for $299.00
At first I perfered the Garmin. Then after a few days it started losing the signal on clear days without a building in the vicinity.
The POI's are very limited as compared to the TomTom. I couldn't find the local movie theatre or Ryan's. They have both been in the area for over 7 years.
If I wanted to put in a new POI for the Garmin, I had to use the TomTom for the coordinates. The Garmin doesn't give you that information.
Finally, I brought the Garmin back to Walmart and stayed with the TomTom 510.

I bought this Garmin StreetPilot for my daughter, as she would have to be doing a lot of driving in the state of Florida. As for its function, it works great. Easy to program, though at times, it has some difficulty initially finding the satellites. But after it's locked in, it's very reliable, easy to read, easy to adjust the volume and will re-route you in a heartbeat if you miss a turn.
However I also purchased the windshield attachment for it which is terrible. It has a locking suction cup, a type of similar unit I've used for years as a volunteer firefighter to mount my light or radio. But this one refuses to stay attached to the windshield. We've cleaned the windshiled to remove any residue, dirt or grime. No good. We had an auto detailer clean the windshield. No good. No matter what we've tried, the suction cup will only remain attached for maybe 10 minutes, on a good day. Don't waste your money on it. Find another solution!

I baught the Garmin c330 around a year ago. I am very happy with it so far. Reliable, operates on battery power for lon periods of time without need for recharging. COuld recharge from computer via the USB cable.
There are a few negatives that I have found so far though.
It tends to lose reception easily if you are driving between high rises and under overpasses and then it takes a long time to recalculate the route after the reception is back. The map that was installed on my unit was released in April 2006. Even then it was not very accurate to reflect new changes such as new subdivisions or lane changes or exits on some highways. I stayed at a hotel that had changed it's name around 2 years ago but it was still listed under the old name on my unit. I tried locating it up by entering the street address but it did not recognize the name of the street and it only recognized it when I enetered it as the street number.

I bought two of the Garmin c330's for my boss. He asked me to look into a GPS for the frequent business trips and deliveries we have to make. After reading the reviews, I chose the c330 for him, and then borrowed it for a few days to go house-hunting upstate with my wife. We never worried about where we were at ANY time during the whole trip. Can't really think of a better recommendation than that!
Anyway, I decided to invest in my own GPS, but I am notorious for always diverging from the tried-and-true. My impulse sends me toward a thing that holds the promise of new, unexplored functionality. I went with a "TomTom ONE" for roughly the same price. WHOOPS!!!
The TomTom had some extra bells and whistles, but the POI listings were HORRIBLY outdated, and they were organized in a completely counter-intuitive fashion. No ability to look at restaurant categories means that you simply have to scroll down until you see what looks like it might suit you. Then, there's no location info on those

This unit is already over $100 less than what I paid for it in September of 2006 (not complaining, that's just the way it goes these days). I paid $800 for my first Garmin 3 years ago and this unit, at it's current price of $260 on Amazon, is a must own. It is reliable, accurate and the size is perfect for sticking in my laptop bag to take with me on trips. I have also used it in Europe (Bought the maps separately) and it worked flawlessly. Don't debate, make the purchase.

I've been using Garmin products in airplanes for years, and I find them to be some of the most informative and intuitive instruments on the market.
So when I wanted to get a GPS for my car, I knew it had to be Garmin.
I bought the C330 for $300. It's great. Right out of the box, you just plug it in, and it's ready to go. VERY intuitive. Just like their aviation products, you hardly need to read the manual.
I know somebody else here complained that it doesn't display Lat and Long, but for automotive navigation, I can't imagine why you would need it unless you're off-roading. Believe me, as a geography major and a pilot, this unit displays more than enough information for the average motorist.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a simple and effective GPS unit.

I puchased this item as a Christmas present, and put it to use on a two week trip to Florida and South Caroliina from Vermont. It worked without ANY problems! Absolutely amazing; quick to acquire satellites; easy to use; extremely accurate with only one mistake (gas station I was directed to was closed). Screen is large enough to see quite well, and my only complaint is that the suction cup does not hold its' suction for any length of time and the device will fall off whatever you tried to stick it to in two or three minutes. No big deal as loong as you know it ahead of time! Very, very pleased, and the price is now $100 less than I paid last December. Bummer! Glad I had it though, as it sure knew where it was going!

We are very pleased with our recent purchase. It worked well and we felt comfortable with the instructions and directions it gave. At one point we felt that it was taking us off the beaten path but realized at the end of the day this would not have happened as the route it would have chosen would have been a better one.
The only place it was a little confused was a gravel secondary highway with sharp turns.
Thanks for the great product and we will never travel without it.

I am using StreetPilot C330 GPS and I found it good. Initially I tried from my home and it was not able to get the connection from sattelite. I was afraid how it is going to behaive. But customer support is good of Germin, they guide me technically and it is working fine.
This is slow(3-5 mins some time) in getting sattelite initially but it works fine afterwords.

This IS the apsolute best one I have used and seen. Way better then the Magellan. It's a little smaller, not the screen! The Magellan has the buttons on the outside of the screen but the Garmin is right on the screen itself. Makes it easier to control. Even Grandma could figure this one out. It is so simple to use. I figured it out with out opening the manual.

I've never used a GPS before, but I had an idea as to what I would like mine to do. I have to say the c330 passed all my expectations. Here's why:
-The unit itself is small enough to carry around with you.
-Even with the small unit size, the screen is still plenty big to read and very bright.
-The maps are very up-to-date. Only a couple of new places aren't on the maps and even so, the GPS gets me close enough.
-After some digging, I found a cd you can order from Garmin to, I believe, update the maps on the 330. It seems the maps are updated once a year or so.
-The 330 calculates the path to the destination very quickly and can also recalculate very quickly if you miss a turn. My understanding is that some GPSs would tell you to make a U-Turn and go back to your missed turn. This unit recalculates a new path to the destination
-The unit also seems to hold a charge for a very long time.
All in all, I've been very pleased with the Garmin StreetPilot c330. The bar has definitely

Bought this as a gift for 73 year old mother. She LOVES it and doesn't go anywhere without it. Technically easy enough for a senior to use, so the most unsavy computer user will operate with ease. Portable enough to take anywhere, seems to be highly accurate and up to date. Can't ask for anything more.

The Garmin Streetpilot C330 is sure one neat little invention. Use it around town or on a long road trip, you will not be disappointed. No need for lengthy instructions. Most people can figure out how to use it right out of the box. No set up is required. You can set it to find an address, find the name of a restaurant, or a hotel. You can ask it to find you food by category such as Italian, fast, and many more choices. It will give you a list from closest to furthest away. Same with lodging. It will give the phone numbers of the choices too. I am a trucker and have found it invaluable to my daily job. Once in awhile it might be off by a few house numbers, but it has no problem getting you on the right street. A great buy!
