Gateway's Customer Service Terrible

I had this product for just two weeks. When I tried to register the desktop online, I spent 2 1/2 hours on their "help" chat room and when I requested a help line # (not found on their website), spent another 1/2 hour with them. It turns out that the serial number did not match their records and there was nothing they could do about that. Very frustrating! I returned this computer to Best Buy, who happily exchanged it. I got an HP product because we've had great luck both with their products and their customer service. Best Buy also had exemplary customer service and have our family as customers for life.

OK machine, confused Gateway support

Computer seemed to run OK. The problem was that when I tried to register with Gateway, it couldn't recognize my machine. (There is automatic recognition over the internet.) So I manually entered the serial number. Not recognized. Then I started dealing with tech support by email. (No phone number or chat available.) Each email was from a different person, none of whom had read what had transpired before, so they would keep telling me that my serial number was invalid. Of Course!, that's why I contacted them! Too frustrating. I couldn't upgrade to Windows 7 without that registration and wasn't sure if I could ever get support from Gateway if I couldn't register. I finally just returned it to the store after 2 days. Best Buy was nice and gave me a full refund plus shipping costs. Gateway might be fine as long as you never need support.

Great computer to me!

I had this for almost a year came with monitor & printer great deal! Its fast everyone loves using it and I cant stay off it! I couldn't find a better price on a pc with this much memory so I'm lovin it!

Not so great

When I bought this, it was a good machine, my troubles started a month or two later after I couldn't return the product. PS/2 ports fried, Power button light on the verge of dying. Media Card Readers are too flimsy to put in media cards, sometimes they get stuck or they won't go in properly. This computer is also a dust magnet.

Graphics aren't as great as they can be, 3D can sometimes lag a lot.

Great Desktop from Gateway

I bought this on Sunday 9/22/08 Bestbuy only had 5 left, I had to go all the way to the West Side Store to get this GREAT DEAL.... it came with the 17" Monitor, but I didn't want the printer, so, I was able to upgrade to a 19" Monitor, I thought it was a good deal, with the 6GB of RAM and the 500GB HDD, also the monitor has a DVI and VGA port, so, I could always upgrade to a PCIe Video card later, I however did upgrade the On-Board sound with a PCIx1 Creative sound card, you get what you pay for, and with the specs in this desktop, you can't go wrong..... Way-to-go-Gateway for offering this desktop, and WHAT A DEAL I got form Bestbuy, the sales guy was very nice in getting me what I wanted in this deal, and I saved some money too, and that's always a good thing now-a-days
