If you're thinking about getting a Blu-ray player might as well get the PS3. Now that Netflix is available on the PS3, you can stream movies right to your TV. Tons of fun for everyone. Once I turn it on, I get lost for hours!

Buy the extra Remote Control because,the Gaming Control that comes with the Unit is great for games but, confusing when accessing Menus.
This item eliminates having multiple DVD players. One can Signup for Netflex and instantly download Live Stream movies. Save trips to the Video store, no more late fees. Unit does not have to be in the direct line of fire with the (separate purchase) remote control. One can control from another room. The Blue Ray disc player is great for its value. I believe it is just as good as more expensive models. Unit will hook to internet via LAN or Wireless.One does not have to be computer savy. I didn't buy it for the Games.
I am 67 years old and if I can hook it up to the Internet so can you. It's too easy. So to all you that are afraid of new technology I say "Try it, you will love it"

I hate Xbox 360 because you have to buy Microsoft cards to play online, and you need to buy internet adaptor, also your console gets overheated when you play all day 12 or 18 hours of playing, and you need to replace your batteries everytime it rans out. I recommend to all the people has Xbox 360 to switch to PS3 (PLAYSTATION 3) because PS3 has the very outstanding performance in gaming. In the Playstation 3 you can play movies HI-DEF with BLUE-RAY, play music anytime you want, put high quality photos on it or even videos and PS3 has a built in rechargeable battery inside the controller and if you want to recharge it, just connect the USB cord , simple it that. In PS3 you can buy stuff at PLAYSTATION STORE (PSS) like adds-on,demo,or games for your PS3 or PSP, but you also need to put money on your wallet or your account so you can be able to buy at PSS, some of the adds-on and games are free. I like PS3 because you dont have to worry about internet adaptor or cards just to play online,

great system does everything and even steams netflix to your tv now. that a lot for $299. the new ps3 games look and play fantastic. This is my central piece in my home entertainment system it gets a lot of us. i am very happy with it.

Have had my PS3 for 10 days now so far i'm really enjoying though I haven't gotten any games yet but even without games it's proving to be quite enjoyable thanks to playstation home .

I almost wish I would have waited for the bigger, newer model... But no regrets! The casing on this PS3 is a flat finish, which is a lot easier to keep clean than the last generation of PS3s which were glossy. The integrated BluRay Disc player is definitely a perk, and also one of the reasons I pick PS3 over Xbox 360. Don't hesitate to pick one of these up!

The PS3 is the best Bluray system on the market.
Fast load times and HD is excellent if you have a Sony Bravia!!!
The only thing is the games do not match the system.
The games are extremely violent and gory!!! and some have bad language! But it is an excellent multimedia system! And Internet is free!

I have my ps3 system for 3 months now. So far it runs well and setup was a breeze. It is suppose to play games and blue ray movies so i won't talk about how cool they look. But what i will talk about is that the features that the xbox 360 has over it, the playstation is slowly closing the gap. Now the ps3 offers live stream movie such as NetFlix. So if you want to relax from gaming and take in a few thousand movies, ps3 is finally able to do so. the only bad thing is that you have to have a Netflix subscription and you will have to get the free disc from netflix to watch the movies. I am looking forward to see what else the sony will come up with for the ps3 to make it compete against its powerful rival.

If your going to get a Blu-Ray player, you might as well get a PS3. I fought as long as I could, I didn't like the idea of HD-DVD and Blu-Ray competing for the next stage of home video entertainment. (Plus, I don't like "blue" being in blu-ray!!) But Blu-Ray won, so I waited a little longer in utter defiance. But Blu-Ray is awesome!! First thing I watched was Heroes 3, the interactive and on-line extras are amazing!! But back to the PS3, other than the Blu-Ray player, I give it to Xbox 360. I have both and much before streaming music, video and pictures from my computer on the 360. PS3 worked too, but takes a lot longer to load and isn't as user friendly. All and all, PS3 4 stars plus blu-ray and Xbox 360 4.5 stars.

No soy muy bueno dando reviews, pero lo que puedo decir es que es una excelente consola, tengo un wii y la verdad el ps3 es mucho mejor, las gráficas no tienen comparación y algo que me gusto, es la cantidad de títulos para mayores de edad que hay y como valor agregado el reproductor blue-ray :D. Recomendado!!.

I never thought after owing Xbox 360 I would enjoy PS3 that much also after reading reviews of people who own both the systems, I am very much loving the system, I am liking third person games such as uncharted, batman along with ability to watch videos online such as Hulu and other Flash based programs, I have had this system since 3rd Sept and never played much on Xbox 360 since and I seriously repent suggesting my friends to buy Xbox 360 over PS3 when I didn't own PS3! PS3 rocks!!!

First, if you are looking for a great blu ray player, get this. You can then play games later if you decide. The PS3 Slim is, obviously, smaller than my 60gb and 80gb models. It has a larger hdd and seems to run cooler. Also, it has built in wifi if you want it. This model has no Linux support like the previous models if you are interested. Also the buttons are not touch buttons they are actual buttons you have to push. I personally think it looks better without the gloss fingerprint prone surface. There are a lot of great games now available with many greatest hits that are not only cheaper but fun. If you need a movie player and want a game player you cannot go wrong here.

I was looking for a Blu Ray player and realized that if I paid just a little more, I'd also be able to play some excellent games. If you're looking for something that will play Blu Ray and Games, the purchase of a PS3 is truly a "no brainer" move. I now own the 360, Wii, and PS3. Each has its own qualities and drawbacks. What I really appreciate about the PS3 is they don't try to nickel and dime you to death.... Wi-Fi is included... as is a rechargeable controller (with the charger included)... as is online game play. The nice thing about the Blu Ray capabilities on the PS3, if you're old, is that it really provides you nice cover for getting a game console "No, I am not a 50 year-old who plays video games, I just wanted to watch Blu Ray, and I guess I picked up some games as well."

What used to take up to four weeks to arrive now comes in a week. Slow shipping times to APO addresses has always been frustrating for me and my family. It is great to see that Best Buy is doing all it can to support the troops.

Once again, Sony releases a top entertainment product. The "second generation" PS3 is similar to the first regarding function, yet aesthetically it is a wonder. Packing all that performance and technology into a sleek, sexy package is a feat by Sony. I own a first generation PS3 as well, and the only differences I can find are the visual ones. I would recommend this product over all other gaming systems and even blu-ray players since it is such a great value and is so functional with the huge range of capabilities.

I do not, as a rule, review products online but in the case of the PS3 I will make an exception. My reason is simple: To warn would be purchasers of the product that the wide-spread opinion of the PS3 being an extremely reliable piece of hardware is somewhat exaggerated. After two years of a good service, my 60GB model's Blu-Ray drive died unexpectedly. As I purchased this machine at a much higher price point than the current offer, I called SONY for support and received a less than stellar "resolution" to my problem. In short, nothing can be done. I am out of warranty. I must simply pay $150 for a repair or buy a new system. A quick look around the internet revealed that I am not alone. Many people have experienced this problem, some have filed a class action lawsuit, and there is a healthy market for replacement Blu-Ray drives and lasers. Now, I do not believe this issue is pervasive, and hope the newer hardware is more reliable. In fact, I will, in all likelihood, purchase another

I was torn between buying an Xbox RROD I mean 360 and this console and I think I made the right choice. Did a lot of research and learned about a lot of things about these two and I ended up getting me a PS3. It's got almost everything you could ask for in an entertainment system but would have been better if it came with the basic accessories like remote and an HDMI (I classify that as basic lol) cable. Plus, with it's lower failure rate, I wouldn't bet my hard earned penny on something that my break down pitifully. So right now, I have the better and the best consoles in terms of low failure rate (I also have a Nintendo Wii).

I bought a new Slim Playstation 3 120GB yesterday and I had to test it on the new TV at home so I surpised about deep picture than I did imagine. Killzone2 game blow my mind so much and I got dizzy for a few hours. I dont have any problems with Slim Playstation 3 and TV so I am really happy about the price. It is a good deal!
If you are going to buy a Slim Playstation with warrenty and it will help you a lot. Warrenty's price is about $60.00 for two years. I am hoping that will help you for this review.

I purchased my PS3 from Best Buy the day it was released and it hasn't been off since. I use it for everything, if I am not playing a game I am watching a BlueRay or letting it up-convert my regular dvds into near blueray quality. I have always been a Sony man and this is a testament to exactly why, my brother is loyal to the Xbox, uses it less than I use my PS3 and has already been through three "red rings of death". I am on the same console and it shows no sign of stopping. I would recommend this system to anyone, whether hard core gamer or just someone who appreciates an excellent HD player as well as a multitude of downloadable movies and games. I don't rent movies from the store anymore, I just find what I want and rent it from the PSN, download while I am at work and it's done. Thank you Sony for a reliable and excellent system.

When the PS3 first came out and it was like 500 bucks, I was very skeptical of it. Ive been an Xbox man since playing the first halo demo in Gamestop at the mall but i always had the backup PS2. When this thing came out, i thought sony was crazy! Even with all the added hardware they couldnt possibly be asking for 500? thats a computer. Yea so PS3 was out for me. But now that this Price drop happened, i seriously reconsidered. With the price drop and some new features, I straight up bought it last night at wal mart after work. I would of got it at best buy but i get off work at 11 at night =P anyways Im keeping this bad boy only for the exclusives since all my friends have 360s but definityly worth the buy my friends. Also When is Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep coming out ?!?!?!?!?! >_<

I must admit, I have used the Blu-Ray player more than I have played games thus far. But the quality of the Blu-Ray player is absolutely perfect. The game quality is amazing. It was easy to setup, connect, and configure. The one downfall of the new PS3 systems are that you cannot play PS2 games on it like the original release of PS3. But everything else is amazing and I would definitely recommend to anyone!

A couple of years ago, my companion bought me a PS2, because she had recalled my mentioning in passing (after seeing advertisements for some pretty interesting sci-fi-themed games) that I was curious about what's going on in that medium. I was aware that several hit movies were based on games, so there might be something to it. The game technology seemed to have progressed light years since I last paid attention, sometime in the late 80s, early 90s. I have both the xbox 360 and ps3 and find I am using the PS3 most of the time.
The blu-ray player and free online play are the best pluses over the 360. You also can charge the controller without having to buy a charger. And it has some really fun games exclusive to the system such as Uncharted 1 & 2, Infamous, and LittleBigPlanet. And the published failure rates on it are far less than on the 360 (do your own search).

The best thing Sony has done is drop the price, I didn't bother buying one be for because of it. Graphics are great of course when a you have HD it makes it a whole lot better. Can't really brag about this system much it does it all by it's self I can care less about blueray, but if you do its and added plus. I'm on this thing all day and feel it was worth every penny.

Before you buy this system you need to know that there is a 10.6% failure rate for Playstation 3's and of those people whos first system failed there was a 14.7% chance that there second system would have a hardware malfunction. On top of that Sony's Customer service only had a 51.1% approval. I speak from experience because my second system in 18 months just crashed on me. Now Sony seems more concerned about getting my credit card number for $150 to receive a third unit that has no guarantee it will last any longer the first two that were defective.

I am using the PS3 to link my computer with my TV using the PlayOn media server program. I can watch Netflix, Hulu, [...] and several other sites on my large screene TV. The picture quality is excellent and the sound is good using the HDMI connection. I installed an optical cable and now I also get excellent sound. The instructions for using the system for this purpose are not great but by going through the menus it is fairly easy to set up the video and audio. You will need to have an N router, fairly good (1.5 or better) internet service and media server program such as PlayOn to make it work correctly. Using this system and an antenna, I was able to eliminate cable TV giving me a substantial monthly saving. I would certainly purchase again.

the new ps3 three is everything and more, it has all the things the old one had without the over heating and finger print magnet gloss coating. plus dont forget that it has 50 percent more memory than the standard 80 gig ps3 shoot yah!

The price drop was great, but the 360 still out-games the PS3. Blu ray player is a good incentive to buy, but sony should have packaged the remote with the new slim console. Graphics, game play, and multiplayer gaming are still years ahead on the 360. Excessive lag online compaired to 360.
I'd recommend a decent BR player for about $150, and stick with Microsoft for gaming.

sony is just flat out too pricey even wit the price drop for the ps3 slim. they should at least include a game for the $300.00 system. you have to depend on having your internet at home give you updates for your system to function well. if you don't have the internet then you may be in trouble of playing movies on bluray, dvd and playing games. a minor bugaboo is the initial d/l time of your game/movie. free online internet is great considering xbox doesn't have that. bluray player is great for those who love it and havent experienced it yet. you need to have the internet to update the bluray player, system and games.

Overall, it is a great system, not only for playing games, but for blu-ray discs, dvds and cds as well. There are inumerous possibilities. It lacks speed when it comes to internet connection though.
PS3 has lots of acessories available for purchase. They are of extreme help for internet navigation. Keyboard, mouse, bluetooth headset, you name it! You can basically add anything to it. Blu-ray remote control is a must for watching movies.

I use to have a xbox 360 for 2 years and had nothing but problems out of it, i had to replace the dvd drive and it got so hot i had to sit it on the floor so air can get to it and it was so loud i had to turn the volume up on the tv really loud. So i sold it and got a ps3 and dang you cant even here it. doent get hot at all, and people all way says the xbox 360 is cheaper they are wrong if you add all the things ps3 has and go buy everything for the xbox 360 you will be broke lol, wireless internet card, rechargeable batterys for remote, bluyray (xbox no hd or blueray) free online, and more you can even change the harddrive out to a bigger one on the ps3. You just cant beat a Ps3.

The Graphics are fantastic! They are on par with maybe even better than the 360. The problem with the 360 (I have had 3 of them) is that is tends to..oh..I don't know...SHUT DOWN FOR NO REASON!!! I have never had this problem with the PS3. I wish that some of the games for 360 were availible for the PS3 but that is getting better so no big deal. All in all this is the best system, that is, if you like cutting edge graphics, Superb HD (Blueray), and a reliable system! The sixaxis control is okay, but the new Dualshock rocks!

You don't need to spend $100 dollars more to buy a wireless adapter just to connect to the internet and surf. Its has BD/DVD/CD player built-in. This is the next-gen console!

This system is awesome, the power consumption is really low compared to the fat PS3 and xbox, 45nm procesor and GPU means less power consumption wich equals less heat meanning more reliable system. Besides you are going to get a bluray player let say you want a bluray player with hard drive it´s cost is about $250 at least talking on sony so for $50 more you get the bluray and the video game function at least for me it´s a really good deal.
Talking on the games side you have a great selection of games counting all greatest hits, actual tittles and the upcoming tittles.
The only things that really disappointed me was the web browser, boy that thing is really slow compared with an real browser like firefox, safari, etc., you get lots of errors on the pages because pages don´t load correctly, the browser is full of bugs and even make the console to freeze, the font is really small i have a 42" lcd and beliebe me you have to be close to the tv to read the information

I bought my ps3 last week and have been enjoying it ever since. I've always been a fan of the Playstation ever since the first one was released in 1994 I believe. So far I've not found one thing this baby can't do, except play ps2 games which I was already aware of that. I love how it doubles as a blu-ray player, and web browser. If your looking into buying a newer system look no futher then the PS3. Some other reviews are saying that it gets hot and and some are saying its loud, I don't know if there just hearing things but my system has not been loud at all, far as it getting hot, it does get warm after a few hours playing it, but really nothing to worry about.

First, NO RED RING OF DEATH!!!! A HUGE PLUS. The PS3 slim is much quieter than the original form factor PS3, it runs much cooler and has a sleeker design. With triple A titles like Uncharted 2 coming out October the 13th, this is the way to go for gamers who want a hassle free complete entertainment system with less than 10% hardware failure rate (Xbox360 after several years is still has over 40% failure rate). This thing did not live up to my expectations. The graphics were horrible, and the online play is bad too. The Xbox Live subsription is so worth it compared to this. Xbox 360 has better games, better online play, better graphics, and more. While this wasn't that bad, the Xbox 360 is a much better experience and it's cheaper

I have been an owner of an Xbox 360 for a while until I was convinced by a friend to try out the PS3. After buying the accessories and everything I needed to get started the right way the price between the two comes out about even. The PS3 has the distinct advantage when it comes to connecting to the internet. PS3 has no cost where as Xbox charges fifty dollars a year. I do like the Xbox community better but I don't know if it is worth fifty dollars better. Also playing online with PS3 it is hard to play competitive when only about 5-10% of the people have microphones. Joining games in progress online seem to be difficult at times also. Whether it’s "following" a friend or just trying to find a game. There should be a way to simplify this process.

I got this so I could play Little Big Planet and watch Blu-Ray. It's small (fits in my entertainment furniture easily), and it doesn't seem to run really hot or anything, which is good. It is fun. I loves it. Also can play really pretty high-def games, like the Pixel Junk games, on it. I don't own any older PlayStation games, so the backwards compatibility issues with the Slim don't affect me. I think it's a good choice for a "first PlayStation."

for 299 you get a great game device with a huge game catalog also you get a blue ray player which is the new video format to replace the dvd as you all know you great also a great HD device to see the pictures or Videos in HD from your ipod or digital camera and PLUS without the awful technical issues that make you be afraid of playing or enjoying your invesment the only thing that sucks is that it comes only with a ship A/V cable so you can't enjoying HD from day 1 but those cable are really ship right here on amazon [...] bucks and that's it. also if you compare this PS3 slim with the fat one is smaller and colder it gets a little hot when you play but is only in the back part where hot air comes out which is good (because is taking out hot air from inside) and normal from the other hand the next months will be full of great PS3 exclusives such as: - God of war III - Gran Turismo 5 - Killzone 2 - Uncharted "among thieves" - Resistance 2 and well others that i can't remember

I just got this gaming system as a present from my brother, who bought it from Best Buy yesterday. It took a minimal effort to set up, and once it was set up, boy was I blown away with the clarity and the power that this slimmer version holds. I believe that it is correctly priced with the blu-ray and other cool features it has, like internet browsing, free playstation network membership, wi-fi connectivity, etc. etc. The last I had was PS2, which I bought like 4-5 years ago or so. Big, big difference in the graphics of these 2 gaming systems. I am hoping that more and more games are released for PS3. It definitely beats Xbox360 hands down.

If your a gamer and not a fanboy who likes good games get this system if your a videophile who wants to enjoy one of the best bluray players (get the dedicated blu ray remote from sony) on your big hidef TV get this system. So I bought it yesterday..just yesterday. Which was 10.2.09 from my local best buy. Hooked it up, poped in wizard of oz bluray and i was wowed. Then popped in MGS4..super wowed. But then it asked me if i wanted to update. So I did. After the update the game froze..i popped in a bluray and it froze. So I turned it off and back on again. But this time it started freaking out and started glitching like crazy with yellow line and what not. Finally I heard this high pitched sound come from the side of the PS3 and about 10 seconds after that it turned off, then wouldn't even come back on. Went to Best buy and they replaced it without a problem. So today..I'm not updating.

, After the price drop to 300 and the new design which is great size wise, not so great cosmetically, the PS3 is seriously an excellent investment. . I chose the ps3 for several reason.
The PS3 is a wonderful, sleek machine (would be sleeker with that piano black finish of the previous model) with serious power under the hood, it packs blu-ray, wifi, blue tooth, is dead silent in comparison to the 360. In addition to that, it merely warms up, and thats after 6 hours of constant gameplay on Killzone 2. Setting it up was a breeze, i placed so it wouldn't get in the way of my other things and plugged it in and now it works flawlessly. Games load in seconds because the PS3 installs the game to the hard drive.
I personally love the home screen interface which gives a sense of "wide" and "open", its seriously customizable. I've already placed my music, movies and several pictures on the 120 gig hard drive, all my media in one center, Now the only reason i turn my computer on is to

first of all, i played it for more than 120 hours already...watched blu-ray movies...listened to music cds...and watched dvds....not a single problem....i use it alot average 4-5 hours a day.
i was playing midnight club la...and it did froze for 10 seconds...that is the only thing happened...but it was still ok...
i highly recommend this over any other System out there...plus it has free online access...and PS home is like facebook....u can chill out there and make new friends...or do whatever you want.
Buy this if u r looking for a console or a blu-ray player. or just buy it bercause its an overall great entertainment system.

Sony has revamped it's system and made it even smaller. Though they have removed backwards compatibility the system is still as good as ever (Just pickup a PS2 for 99.99 if you need to play the older games)
The last reviewer was wrong when he said the HDD cannot be upgraded. There is a small tab under the system that you lift up and unscrew then slide the bezel under the blu-ray drive, from there you can upgrade your systems HDD.

This is my 3rd PS3 and my first go at the slim version. I had a 40gb and the MGS4 80gb versons before and my house was broke into so i had to replace em. I was skeptical to choose the slim style but decided to do it for the extra drive space for the price. the only thing im not happy with is the ability to swap out hard drives if you wanted to (no slot on the side like before). Thats a good feature on the older models. Other than that its a great machine and i have never had any problems with any of them. If your happy with PS3 you will be happy with the Slim!!

i have been a sony fan for years. even before the playstation even came out. i don't recall ever having problems out of sony merchandise when used normally. just in case get the extended warranty from best buy. things will wear out eventually. i went thru 2 ps1 and ps2 systems, but they lasted for years. the ps3 is no different. the price is great. better value than the 80 bulky system. people who complain about the slim either plays other systems and is basis to sony or they had to pay the higher price than what the slim cost for a shinny bulky system. who cares how the slim looks or weighs, you play the system, not look at it. a ps3 is a ps3 point blank. with the titles due to come out with in the next year you can't go wrong with this system. as with anything in the gaming market, quality comes with time and sony delivers well IMO. so what if xbox has more games. whats the quality of them. for those who have always loved the PS platform, we love the fact that they kept the controllers

this is the 2nd Ps3 slim i've had in 1 month,,,i'll play the console for 2 hours max a day 3 to 4 times a week....the audio sound skips doesn't matter what game (all i have are brand new ones)...maybe it;s a bad batch of them i don't know....thank goodness a 2year BB warranty was also purchased with the ps3 slim...this return will be number 2.....
Geek squad said it is a reader problem,,,and there have been numerous returned to BB....there was a stack of them behind the counter all reader defective.....
considering just laying out another 100 for the fatty ps3...so much for new stuff....................BUY A WARRANTY WITH THE PS3 SLIM.............IT WILL PAY FOR ITSELF.....

As an older video game player, I have been through the history of video games and computers (I used a slide rule in high school and even college). From this perspective, the quality of the gaming experience with the new PS3 is amazing. I will let others describe the technical attributes of the new PS3, but for the money, and given it includes a blu ray player, it just seemed to be an amazing deal to me. The PS3 sets up very easily. My one warning - keep up to date on the software updates. I ordered early and so I got one of the PS3s without the software update. My PS3 did not work correctly. As soon as I updated, it worked fine and still does. Also, it took me way too long to update through the PS3, I used the USB method with my PC. It worked much faster and much better.

I purchase this PS3 before lunch, I get it on expected date. The console is really quite respect to my PS3 80GB. The size and weight is amazing, the design is nice. It's a really redesign of the console with the same performance. Also is more cooler.

Great graphics. It is a very nice upgrade from the PS2 for me. I'm a little disappointed in the noise the machine makes after it has been playing for about 1/2 hour. Disappointed it will not play PS2 games. The cord to charge the cordless controller is too short.

I bought a PS3 Slim about ten days ago, and am extremely happy with it. The graphics are breathtaking, and I am just playing on a sdtv. The controller is not clunky, as previous posts have stated. It is just the right size, and carries the design of the original PS2 controller, which was revolutionary. The fact that it is wireless is great, because you may play with your friends and wires can sometimes get in the way and cause problems. If your system is positioned above the television, wires can get in the way of the picture. Now you, and up to 6 of your friends can play wireless. I have yet to own any blueray movies, so I can not comment on them. The game selection has been scarce, but that is going to change with the sheer amount of amazing titles that are upcoming for the system. Wifi is great, and membership to PSN is free. It has many great downloadables. Notice how I did not bash any other system. That is cheap. In whole, the PS3 is a great buy for a low $300 for plenty of reasons

I'm a single forty-something and I have been patiently waiting for YEARS for the price of the ps3 to fall under [...]. Thanks to Amazon's super saver shipping and no sales tax, that finally became a reality last month. My new PS3 Slim arrived quickly and has worked flawlessly. I've held off on downloading the new firmware until Sony works out all the kinks. I was an avid Atari fan as a teen, and the graphics nowadays are a hundred times better. Every morning I look forward to blasting aliens---what a great way to relieve stress. I also bought my first Blu-ray movie and the clarity is awesome. Although it's kinda goofy to run a movie using the Dualshock controller, hey---it works! This is, by far, my best purchase of 2009.

There is not much more (if at all) to add to what "Aragorn" wrote in his review. Just wanted to comment on the issue of the temperature of the unit. After playing online for about 3 hours straight, the unit's exhaust temperature is still less than 95 deg F. My PS3 is in my media cabinet but the back of it faces a cut out so the exhaust is not hindered. Also, I leave the front of the cabinet open when it is in use. Love the unit. It paired immediately with my Motorola H350 headset and off I went. It is really a remarkable machine. My wife immediately commented on how good the graphics look and the true social networking application that is Playstation Home. I think I will get a wireless keyboard and mouse for it soon just to complete the package. It would be cool if FPS could use the keyboard and mouse rather than the controller to play but that is not a deal breaker for me. For all who decide to purchase this amazing bit of computing genius, enjoy!

I mostly use my PS3 for Blu-Ray, for which it works fine. I wish the Sony remote would let me turn off the power to the PS3 with one button, but no big deal.
I bought about 10 PS3 games, and am not very impressed. The graphics in the games look great, but the control schemes are clunky and awkward. I also have a Wii, and first-person-shooters are much more immersive with the Wiimote. Just point at the location on-screen where you want to shoot.. Clearly the PS3 graphics are WAY better than the Wii. If only Sony would release something like the Wiimote. Or Sony could just let me use the mouse to control my FPS games, that would be fine too. The PS3 will work with any bluetooth mouse, but unfortunately very few games support it. (UT3 is the only one I know of).
Also, very few games allow 2 people to play. Most games let you play against other people ONLINE, but if you have an actual friend in the room with you, you have to take turns on almost all games. Even on the two

I had a 360 that went bad so I exchanged it for this. Its a great system, free online play, built in wireless. I don't know why people say the online has lag it, because I have not experience anything like that. I guess they have a bad internet connection.
You can use as a Blu ray player which is great bonus, and you can rent movies from the Playstation network. The system is very quiet to hear compared to my 360 that I returned. Also it does not got hot at all, and I have it in a closed environment playing for hours non stop.
I got Metal Gear Solid 4 and Uncharted and Killzone 2. I don't have any complaints and I looking forward to God of War 3 next year. Its a great BUY!!!

I have both formats, and this is a dead tie, Xbox I will give more content to online, but Xbox 360 backed the "Wrong" format out the door and now they will pay for it. Xbox 360 needs to get with the program include a blu-ray drive as this content is the best for gaming and watching movies period right now. I will give the slight edge to the Xbox flower child graphics and some more online content, but Sony gets the nod on better hardware period. Take your pick you can't go wrong either way. The whole bashing either system at this point is laughable! Just enjoy... I am on both systems.

overall disappointing game system for pre teens or teens that parents monitor what games thier kids play. Without the ps2 library being compatible with system it is unsuitable for kids due to limited library of titles on ps3. graphics are good and blue ray player is nice and its a good system for adult gamers if they like mature themed games. If you have kids that are going to be using the system I'd suggest going with a different system

I own both major consoles, the Xbox and PS3. Sony need to step up the online play, downloadable content and just the quality of their games if they want to keep up with Microsoft. Sorry Sony fan boys just because the PS3 goes on a diet doesn't mean its better. The blue ray player is nice and all but who buys blue ray anyways? I download all my movies from net flix and stream them to my Xbox 360 in HD. I don't see Sony being in the race very much longer. This price drop should have come a year ago.

We currently own a ps3 80 g, a x360 pro, a x360 elite, 2 wii consoles and each of us has our own nintendo ds lit (thats 7 of them)....everyone here has thier own prefence to what they like but we all agree that the PS3 slim is awesome!!...We are one by one replacing each DVD player with a blu ray player. Recently my son graduated from boot camp and his gift from us was to be a blu ray player for his home......we were looking at an average cost of approx $300.Then Sony released the ps3 slim.....ps3s are known to be the best blu ray players on the market.....so how could I NOT BUY THIS???? I couldn't !!! from the position of a blu ray player alone, this item stands out..then you get the bonus of the awesome features and upgrades on this product that make this item stand out!! I plan on purchsing more of these as for it is cheaper for me to outfit each bedroom with a PS3 than it is to buy a blu ray player alone!! We already have extra controllers and own most of the games on the market

I was one of those who got the original 60GB version when it came out which was a very good system until it gave up on me a few months ago. Was really mad at sony since I took very good care of my fat PS3 vacuuming the air vents regularly n stuff but it gave me the YLOD. Looked at the xbox 360 reviews and probably would have plunged for the one with the Jasper chip but the annual online membership fee always gave me second thoughts until I heard rumors about PS3 slim. Well I got rid of my fat 60GB PS3 and bought the new one from amazon and this thing is so silent compared to my old one.....it was just amazing. The old one would beat the sound of the Vornado Air Circulator in my room within 10-15 minutes of FIFA 09 or Fight Night R4 and it heated up my room. I turned this one on the following morning at 10:18am and continued playing Fight Night Round4 until 5:49pm!( I took breaks but just paused the game for 5-10 mins) I could have played longer but I didn't have FIFA 09 since I sold it

Great gaming system. Only had 1 issue, and that was not the fault of the PS3. If you have a older HDMI cable, you might have (hand-shake issues) with your HDTV. After calling sony Tech support because of the signal being lost between HDTV and PS3 . I did as they said and tried a new HDMI cable and it worked perfect. The other HDMI cable works great with the Xbox 360 I guess the PS3 is picky. It dose not get hot, and the blue ray looks great on HDTV. The playstation network is not as flashy as the xbox live but none the less it has some features that xbox dose not have.

Sony (and the PS3 in particular) has really turned itself around within the last year or so to become a massive force to be reckoned with. With the recent inclusion of the Slim, the price drop, the increasing popularity of Blu-ray and HDTV's, upgraded firmware and a list of Exclusives the size of my arm: really, Sony is King. Or soon will be. I'm proud to own a Playstation 3. :)

After months and years of frustration with a overheating, freezing Xbox 360 (Its Microsoft what do you expect) I gave up last weekend and just went out and bought a PS3. I dont regret buying it ether, graphics are great, has built in wireless, a big hard drive, FREE online play, and has never froze or got too hot. A little difficult to set up, HDMI settings took awhile to figure out, WiFi is still a mystery every so often I get a DNS error but some say Sony has a bad communication with Linksys Routers.

I bought this PS3 for the sole purpose of having a Blu-Ray player. Well the unit takes forever to load a movie, and will not play most of my regular DVDs. I did do a firmware update and that seemed to make things worse. The PS3 remote is garbage as well. I will be returning the unit today!

This is the 4th PS3 I bought!! There is nothing wrong with the operation of the older units (60GB, 40GB and 80GB). The new slim stays much cooler, is virtually silent (Like the PS2 slim), and when it comes to electricity, uses quick a bit less!! I love the design!! I love the old design, but I am enjoy this unit much more!! Great job!! I don't worry about backwards compatibility, because I play my PS2 games, on my PS2!!

I saw the New PS3 Slim online and was taking smack about it to my friends how it looked. I mean I only saw it online did see fiscally. Let me tell you! I take it all back…first you have to see it for yourself. The new PS3 slim is all that “tight” it’s small 11” X 12” it doesn’t have the shiny body anymore only on the front where the disc goes and the symbol PS3 on top. I can only say that I love it and highly recommended. If you have the old PS3 sell that thing and get the new ps3 slim...trust me...I did. I sold my 40 GB PS3.

It is also a HEAVY processor that pushes A LOT, especially with the Blu-Ray, so will run hotter.
2. The 3.0 Firmware update took about 14 minutes for my PS3 on a wireless-G network that is probably 6 years old (I plan on switching to N really soon). No, 14 minutes to me is not that long for a clean download and install.

All of the fanboy bickering and bias leaning aside, people who can only afford one $[...] gaming console want to know which system to choose between the PS3 & Xbox 360. This comes down to a simple matter really putting all of the technical jargon aside. The PS3 is a superior piece of hardware to the Xbox 360. It comes fully loaded and if you have an HDTV and you need your gaming machine to double as your movie player then I say from a technical standpoint the PS3 is going to be your way to go. What the Xbox 360 lacks in power under the hood, it surely makes up for with its games and gaming experience. Xbox Live is vastly superior to Playstation Network in all aspects save price, but you truly get what you paid (or didn't pay) for. I needed a bluray player to go with my recently purchase 52" lcd tv, sold my 360, wireless adapter, and subscriptions. Got this all around entertainment system with some money left,haha,,. Bluray and Free online gaming. Best value barnone, finally grew out of 360 money sucking gaming platform. Slim performs so quiet and cool. Bluray is so awesome :))) ***super slick looking******

Its not only for games but for media, such as blu-ray movies, dvds, music, pictures, and even comes with a full internet browser. and speaking of internet, you dont have to pay for it, its completly free for the online play. which you have the option to connect to through a ethernet cable or through the built-in wireless. and just to be clear on this topic, people who say that "i might over heat" the possiblity of it doing so is still slim, due to the systems 9mm fan with 17 blades on it. but i gave you guys my over veiw of the new ps3 slim, and im just gonna say PS3 all the way.

i got the ps3 and have not been able to get off of it i love it so much stay awake all night playing and when my mom comes and tells me to get off i say ok and then get right back on

I just picked up ps3 slim from a best buy store and u can not even compare it to xbox 360. Ps3 slim is so great...
I purchased xbox 360 last year bc it was 200 dollars cheaper than ps3. I could not afford ps3 at that time. Now they come with the same price tag and I am sure that you are confused which one to pick if you are not a real fan of any of the systems no matter what. Here is my opinion:
Although there are some good games on xbox 360, hardware is really low quality. MS could have sold this piece of hardware a lot LESS than what they r asking for since the beginning. And they did not reduce their price tag until ps3 reduced theirs to 300 dollars. After you see ps3 slim, you will understand for sure what I am trying to say.
If you are looking for a good game console and entertainment center, ps3 slim is a must. Don't even think about xbox 360, you will be dissappointed in about a year. Unless a new xbox console comes out, 360 is out of console wars imo.

I have two PS3 systems. My first was a 40 GB old school machine (CECHG01) which was good. It was running my main home theater system for a few years doing a great job. Then I purchased an 80 GB for my office (CECHK01). I notice my 80 GB was faster during the 3.0 update than my 40 GB. So I thought maybe the new slim is even faster... After reading reviews I noticed that the sound processor for the HDMI chip would bitstream TrueHD and DTS MA and I thought maybe it is better. I sold my 40 GB for $150 and bought the new slim and I am more than pleased. After hooking the slim up and updating it (4x faster than my 40 GB), I thought I would test the Dark Knight and man was I impressed. Totally worth the money. I personally like the new look as well. WHY SO SERIOUSSAH!!!

Looks pretty cool, and is free, since any other sony blu ray cost 299 anyway... this one comes with a "free ps3"
Took for ever to update it's firmware to 3.0 ( I have excellent internet connection) Then, I try to play GT5 and it had to do a download that it took half hour and then and update that took 20 minutes! so by the time I was done, I had to go to sleep!!!
The I buy another game, Uncharted! IT DOES NOT WORK, thanks to our friends at Sony!
I never had so many problems with my xbox 360, (they have their own problems too) but at least I can play games instantly!

(I can't wait for Uncharted 2, Gran Turismo 5, God of War 1 & 2 Remake for ps3, EyePet.
While xbox I only play Left 4 Dead, and at my friends house I play Gears of War 2, Halo 3 and something Fable, but that's mainly it. ( I'm just waiting for ODST)

I HAVE A 720p Tv and with this PS3 my Tv looks like a 1080p is great BUT is this new PS3 suppose to be that noisy it drives me crazy i don't know if it's only mine o not, cause this is my first Console and i went on with Sony over the Xbox cause the brand! but for me IT'S TOO NOISY!!!!

Just got my today and i love it im playing nba 2k9 on it and its crazy also not bad for $40 protection plan on it at best buy for 2 years. parents if you have kids get this for them and trust me on this they will the games on it and not mess with you all day. i know my lil brother hasn't mess with our mom all day.

After reading a particular review on the slim PS3, I wasn't sure what to do. I have an Onkyo receiver that can decode TrueHD and DTS-MA, but the old PS3 did not support bitstream audio via HDMI. In the report I read, the reviewer said that standard DVD quality wasn't as good and load times for blu-rays was a bit slower. After wactching "The Dark Knight" on blu-ray, I did not notice any difference. Having the TrueHD decoded by my receiver was great. I did notice a sound difference, but I had to re-adjust some of the settings to get the sound to where I wanted them on the Onkyo. I then watched "Star Wars: Episode III" as my standard DVD test. I think it looks awesome, not sure how it compares to the old one, but I thought it might look better on the slim PS3! Other than these observations, the size and weight of the unit is MUCH less. I couldn't believe how much lighter the new one is. Also, before selling my old PS3 to a friend, I updated it to the 3.0 firmware. It took about 20-30 minutes

Just got my today and i love it im playing nba 2k9 on it and its crazy also not bad for $40 protection plan on it at best buy for 2 years. parents if you have kids get this for them and trust me on this they will the games on it and not mess with you all day. i know my lil brother hasn't mess with our mom all day.

ok so i got a new ps3 knew that it didnt play other playstation games so i never even thought to try, i came home from work and my boyfriend is playing on it and is playing a ps1 game ff. i couldnt believe it but i havent checked to see if it will play ps2 games but i dont know if they just told people they were taking it out and decided that it wouldnt be a good move but hey i dont know, i would like to know if other peoples do as well but i love it awesome blue ray player and i had the old ps3 and it broke like a week beofre this one came out so i can deal with this one for sure! :) :)

This is a great system! It does everything: plays games, surfs the internet, links to your PC through DLNA, blu-ray player, etc, etc, etc.... It is the only gaming system out there that has that many features and it is at a great price.

Games play great with no lag on the frame rates. Blu Ray was great! The picture looked like it jumped out from the TV. I like the fact that you can swap out the hard drive in it now and put a bigger one in later one if you want to. Have had an XBox 360 for 3 years and finally had to move on since it overheated twice in 3 years. And it sat in an open area with plenty of airflow. Have not regretted moving to the PS3 at all.

My ps3 broke on day 1, what a waste of money, games online all suffer from lag and dropped games, framerates are poor, sound is ok, the bluray is sloooooow to load movies, no netflix, now i know why sales have been so poor for this system, smashing my hand with a hammer is more fun than this junk

I picked this up from BB before the launch date because I couldn't wait to fire up this baby. All I can say is "awesome". This is way better than its predecessor. I mean it's cheaper, lighter, quieter, more energy efficient and most of all, it finally bitstreams Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HD MA to my high-end AV receiver. What else can you asks for? Last night, I just updated the firmware to ver 3.0 and "wow". Sony really did a great job with this system. Highy recommended!!!!!

This is my favorite console, the most precise and on demand of taste for my type of games. It has Wi-Fi which makes online accessibility easier than you can believe. No payment either. AND, you have your Blu-ray, your DVD-Upscaling, and 120GB hard disk drive provides ample storage for streaming your very own games, music, videos and photos. It has unbelieveable exclusives like infamous, God of War 3, Little Big Planet, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, MAG, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, Pixel Junk, And Tons more. I mean all these games have very high ratings, higher than Xbox, I mean come on would you rather wait till the real physical part of the year for all those up-coming PS3 Exclusives? or wait for halo 3:odst I mean Do I HAVE to spell it out for all you Xbox Fan boys? great design with a quieter fan and helps with my electric bills too compared to the orignal ps3. what a great looking product in my entertainment center. I had people ask me what is that in your entertainment center. they loved it too. now I can sell my old ps3 orignal console.
