Xbox 360 20GB Hard Drive
For the same price, you can get a harddrive of 750 GB for PC. It proves just how crazy the Microsoft is to rip customers off. No wonder so many people don't like this company and their product.

I got my xbox 360 console as a gift, and I have already spent 200 bucks to get together the controllers and harddrive(to play xbox games such as ninja gaiden, you must have the harddrive, oh, man, who would know for xbox it request additional parts to be backwards compatible?)

Don't buy it.

For a 20 GB hard drive this thing is ridiculously expensive. So expensive it easily deserves 1 star. For a desktop computer you could easily find a 500 GB drive for this price, and you can even get a 160 GB laptop hard drive in the same range (which would work with a PS3). You are basically paying $80 for a hard drive for 360 that people are giving away on craigslist for computers.

I haven't had any functional problems with it, but then again I would expect that from most any hard drive manufacturer. The space is enough to store a small amount of songs and a half dozen demos at a time (and of course your saved games).

The only reason I could find to rate this higher is that without it your 360 would be crippled, but I really don't think making an expensive hard drive required is a good thing. Just buy the premium console instead with the hard drive included. Even if you have already boughten a core, just sell it and buy a premium.

Xbox 360 20GB Hard Drive
Where are the GB's for this system. They claim it comes with 20 GB, which is quite small- but in all actuality it only comes with 10.3 available GB. They preload the unit with 3.7 GB of advertisements for X Box- which brings us to 14 GB total. Yep, that's a missing 6 GB. And, if you are unlucky enough to call 1-800-4-My-X Box about this problem; then, you will probably speak to someone who barely understands English and will tell you to return the item because it should have 20 GB. If you are lucky enough to reach someone in the States; then, they will tell you there is a tiny statement on the back of the box which says some space will not be available. Also, they will act like it is an "industry standard" to have lower available Gigabytes than what is posted. This is only half true. The "industry standard" they are speaking of is a translation issue which causes a 20 GB hard drive to read as an 18.4 GB hard drive- not a 14 GB hard drive. Furthermore, if you are lucky enough to

Xbox 360 20GB Hard Drive
The drive itself is fine, it works exactly as advertised. I like that it's really small and attaches right to the unit itself, putting it completely out of the way.

My sole complaint is the cost relative to the space you're given. Ninety bucks for a twenty gig hard-drive? For the same price or less you could find another external HD that's probably triple the capacity or more. Unfortunately though, Microsoft's HDD is proprietary, using a third-party isn't an option.

I want to illustrate just how small a twenty gig drive actually is. As was mentioned before, game demos are starting to average about a gig a piece. A few of those demos, all your game saves, a few xBox Arcade games, and some media content downloads (TV shows, Movies (God forbid an HD movie), etc) those 20 gigs get soaked up a lot faster then you might think.

Microsoft recently announced that a 120 gig drive will be available soon for "under two-hundred dollars" (i.e. $199.99). It's still a lot of money for the space

Xbox 360 20GB Hard Drive
- Owning a HDD allows you to download patches from Xbox Live to play original xbox games.

- Download game demos from Xbox Live Marketplace And Movies and Tv shows and Music videos etc

- More storage than a memory card

- You can add music
etc,etc

CONS

- 20 GB* is actually 13.4 GB. For some reason, MS has 7 GBs reserved on the HDD.

- 13 GB isnt very much when you consider game demos and movies and music and other goodies average about .5 GB to 1GB in size. If you're going to be downloading patches and add-ons for your games, as well as demos, that 13GB of storage is going to fill up sooner than you think.

I barely download One movie and 4 game demos and it left me with like 10.0 gb left but if you want to play to Original xbox games, and arcade games, and watch highdefinition movies and shows Your going to need this i still recomened getting a memory card to save up some of your space

This is pretty much 'required' for an Xbox 360, no doubt. If you don't have it, you miss out on Xbox Live Demo's, Arcade games, custom music, etc. etc. The hard drive adds to the experience.

But why is it so expensive? PS2's 40 GB hard drive costs $99 and comes included with a game. I can understand a 20 GB included with a Premium System, but why not instead offer a larger hard drive for $99? Most notebook hard drives (what the Xbox 360 uses) is $50 for 40 GB... RIP-OFF!

And why hasn't MS announced a bigger hard drive? My 20 gigs went from 13 gigs (what is actually included, so its a bit deceiving) to 25 MB in a months time... no exaggeration. Why focus on a stupid HD DVD player when you can bring out an 80 gig HD or something?

Xbox 360 20GB Hard Drive
I recently bought an xbox 360 harddrive which i didn't have too much difficulty as some people report, but that could just be in Michigan, I do not know. This harddrive is a must have, if you don't, you'll be like me at first where you play your games and you can't same, then when you get far, you have to shut it off :(

This harddrive is 20gb but it saves 7gb for games, downloads, patches, xbox live...ect. I love my harddrive and felt really stupid not having one. Well anyways...the only problem I had with this harddrive was the fact that i had to wait just a little bit to find it, but believe me, it's worth the wait and money.
