This GPS was a huge improvement from my old Garmin 12. It is easy to navigate around the system. I haven't used it a whole lot yet but so far I really like it. The battery life is exceptional compared to my old GPS. I don't like the fact that it seems I have to recalibrate the electronic compass every once in a while for it to give me the right direction but other than that I don't have any other complaints.

Gave this to my hubby for his birthday. He takes it everywhere and is having a ball using it. Very trustworthy and one more reason not to stop and ask directions.

Wanted to map a round-the-world trip. The GPS 60 CSx never failed to get a satellite lock to within 50 feet, from an airline window seat. Worked from a jacket pocket high enough so the antenna could see out the window, with the shade up or down. Has a real antenna, not one hidden in the case. Does not work from an aisle seat. Took one local drive to learn how to use the track recorder and Mark functions, worked well with Garmin map software. Can output NMEA code for other map software. Set the track recorder to 6 minute interval, had no overflow problems. Only drawback is that it doesn't provide GPS altitude, just barometric pressure. But that's enough to tell when the plane took off and landed. Aviation models provide altitude but are considerably more expensive. Goes through a pair of AA batteries in 15K miles of flight. The receiver doesn't interfere with aircraft navigation, confirmed by the captain of one of the flights, but some airlines have a blanket ban on electronic devices.

I bought my 60CSx about 18 months ago after rave reviews from friends who are in Iraq and Afghanistan talking about how great the 60CSx is. I can say without reservation that this is the finest piece of travel gear I have. The SirfIII chipset means quick signal aquisitions, so even when my cell phone's GPS is struggling to get a signal, I've got one and am off to the races. When out and about in a foreign country, I'll mark my tracks so I can always find my way back home. It's quick and holds signal in urban environments (Chicago's the land of highrises) and the wilderness (I used this while on day hikes in Mongolia.) The GPS itself isn't intiutive, and you really need to sit down with a manual (or rent GARMIN GPSMAP 60C; 60CS; 60CX; 60CSx DVD INSTRUCTION GUIDE from Netflix). Once you sit down with it for a good 30 minutes, you get the hang of it rather easily. I also updated my GPS with a MicroSD card to have TOPO maps on it along with Garmin's North America maps. It's not as great

I have had my 60 for a couple of years and geocache with it. I have dropped it a few times but Last night I stopped to get my mail and as I got out of my car my 60 fell off my belt to the ground and then into a storm drain. I had to leave it there all night as I was going to work. This AM I went to the storm drain and opened the cover and retrieved my 60. I turned it on and its still works great !!! . Garmin makes good stuff!!!!!!
