I was told that W7 would be the end of the cable card compatibility issues and that it was so much more stable than Vista. What a huge disappointment and waste of money. Vista was working better and offered more utility than this new, "improved" O/S.

The "Media Center" application crashes regularly. The most frustrating experience of all was the night that the system crashed 9 separate times during the Pittsburgh Steeler - Denver Broncos Monday Night Football game. Task Manager says "Not Responding" and you have to reboot. In the meantime the teams score and it ruins the entire television experience. I've been troubleshooting the configuration with my OEM since the install on November 1 and now I'm being told to reinstall it all over again.

Don't believe the hype - wait until the bugs are worked out. I wish I had.

I was really excited that this might finally fix my computer and give me the speed and efficiency I expected. Vista was terribly slow and prone to viruses. So far, the only thing that is better about Windows 7 is some of the changes in the look. But after so much change (the wrong direction) in Vista, do I really need more change? And its soooo slow. Maybe with a new computer it would be ok for free, but definitely not worth over 100 bucks!

I ordered this (Win & Home Premium) to do a clean install (no previous operating system). It seemed to work but the activation key kept not working, with a wrong product error code. since nothing on Amazon, or the packaging, indicated this was an upgrade disk (and the Amazon price was non upgrade retail version price), i was in a quandry as to the activation errors. after contacting Microsoft and Amazon, it appears the product they sent me was an upgrade disk. since neither the order info or the received package were labeled as an upgrade, it is a bit disconcerting. the product should be clearly labeled as an upgrade to avoid confusion. as always, Amazon was extremely helpful and the correct verion is on its way just make sure what version you are ordering !!

i loaded vista on my imac, no problem, everything works. Win 7 will not load, on either full version or upgrade. further, on my 32-bit vista laptop it will not upgrade to Win Home, despite the compatibilty test showing it will run both 32-bit and 64 bit. i am now trying a clean install, losing all my executables, some where i have lost the disks, so they will be lost forever. as bad as vista is, I've wasted $300 on Win 7 so far, and can't get it to run on any machine at home. I don't dare upgrade my XP machine, it runs flawlessly, and you cannot upgrade to Win 7, you have to wipe the drive and lose everything. I know i can't find the drivers anymore, so upgrading would kill my XP machine.

I have used every Microsoft OS since DOS 5.0 and Windows 3.1. Until now my favorite was Windows 2000. XP was pretty solid (after service pack 2) except for all of the security holes. Every time I would need to fix an XP machine it wasn't because of something wrong with the OS itself, but because the machine had virus/spyware/trojans etc. Enter Vista. MS fixed most of the security problems but did so at the expense of performance and stability. Now with Windows 7 you get the best of both worlds. XP was released in 2001 and hardware has come a long way since then, but the OS itself remained relatively static and could only take advantage of newer hardware at a basic level. Vista was an improvement and Windows 7 handles it better still. I think Vista, although I had few problems with it, will go down as ME 2.0. At the same time Windows 7 will be XP 2.0. People will cling to it and MS will have to kill it off before people will move on to it's next offering, whatever that may be. With that
