NETGEAR Wireless Router - N600 Dual Band Gigabit (WNDR3700)
Netgear
- WNDR3700-100NAS
Pros: Easy set up. Everything in the house moves faster with great connections
Cons: Nothing so far
Was looking for something to replace a very old Microsoft router. Has worked well for years, but started to fail. This router was recommended to me, and I went out and purchased it. Speed of everything connected is very much better. Did not know what I was missing with my old router as far as speed. My Son's computer, which is downstairs, gets a much better/reliable connection. Have two computers connected wireless and 4 iPhones connected by wifi, as well as an xbox. No problems thus far.

Pros: Have not had any issues at all; works great
I bought this to replace an old Linksys Wi Fi which never worked quite right. This was easy to set up and has worked beautifully. There are no dead spots in the house; the security is good; all of our computers (PC laptop, Apple laptop, PC desktop have worked great;has become a permanant part of our computer system.

Pros: guest network, easy to set up
Cons: none
I've had one of these in my home for about 2 years with zero complaints. When the ~10 year old wireless router at my parent's place started dropping connection (even after firmware upgrade), I decided to look for a new one. I researched for a couple hours and my decision was between this one and a DLink DIR 655. The decision came down to availability and price and not heavily influenced by familiarity or brand loyalty.

Pros: Good price
Cons: Bad documentation, quality control
The box documentation did not match reality which made it more difficult to set up. (Box seems to be for V3, this is V4.) Firmware has problems which makes changing the SSID and password impossible unless you find the secret online. The Netgear web site is a mass of broken links. And the router died after about 8 days, unable to connect to the Internet. Back to the store.

Pros: Fast, good reach, easy to manage,
Cons: No ability to block wireless devices by MAC Address
I would recommend this as a fast router with excellent signal. It is easy to set-up, and manage. It is reliable. The indicator lights are very clear. What I don't understand is why I can't block wireless access to the router for specific devices by their MAC Address. Other routers allow this, and allow time and day for blocking, but I can't figure out how to do it this way with this NetGear router.

Cons: No instructions for installation in box
Once I got it up and running, there has not been a single issue. However, there are no instructions in the box so it took some time and a little frustration to get everything running.

Pros: Easy to set up, good range and great performance.
Cons: Nothing so far.
Bought this unit in preparation of picking up a Kindle at Christmas and I've been nothing short of impressed with the range and ease of use. I've never set up a wireless modem before but the onboard setup program made things exceptionally simple. Was able to set up a standard wifi network, a 5G network, and even a guest network without any trouble. I would recommend this as a great smaller home router. Will have to wait until the spring thaw to see what kind of outside range I'm able to get.
...
Cons: It won't keep a wireless connection
I purchased this with the intention of adding it to my existing home network. I wanted to use it to increase the wifi range in my house, as well as provide wired connections to an AV receiver and Apple TV which were located some distance from my U-verse Residential Gateway, which also provides WiFi.
...
Pros: Setup and documentation are easy to follow
Cons: Backward compatibility and online monitoring software does not do what it says
As a former IT guy, I was hoping for a real powerhouse product. I needed a wider range and speed. 95% of the traffic is simple internet access...no local streaming or networking. The online software for managing connections within the house was a key reason for picking this product. Unfortunately, this does NOT allow you to disable specifc connections (ie a teenager online after lights out). I also had an older desktop unit who's wireless card will not connect. WiFi strength within the house is only marginally better than my prior router. There is nothing WRONG with the unit, just does not live up to expectations.

Pros: It works great and has needed no tinkering.
Cons: Had to call India or somewhere to get help for installation.
Bought this to replace my old router which had died. Knew zero about these things so relied on Best Buy for help. I believe I got the right model for my needs and use, but the sales rep told me it would be easy to install and I could do it myself. WRONG! Ended up calling India or Pakistan or somewhere for help and they had to talk me through it. Now that it's installed it's working just fine, but I would not know what to do should it need some tinkering.

Pros: It never drops and I connect up to 8 devices to it at times.
Cons: Can't think of anything.
I highly recommend this wireless router. I ended up buying it after setting up the same one for a friend that's a little technology challenged. The set up was easy and the device seemed powerful. Went out and bought one myself and I love it.

Pros: Flexibility and speed
Lots of llexibility and the Netgear Genie is a nice tool once you get everything configured. Can't configure all the wireless networks using the Genie, but the router web interface is easy and allows you to fully configure the router.
...
Pros: Very easy installation and setup
I replace a wired router with this unit. My wife needed wireless and I wanted to maintain the faster wired connections througout the house. This unit does both and since the wired ports are gigabit, wired connections are even faster than with the old router. The wireless also works well everywhere both inside and outside the house.

Used to have a typical first generation router in my house where it was located in the basement and in the garage. Typically where I use the Internet is in the living room, which is a floor away and the complete opposite side of the house. I always had problems with my old router with the connection because the range sucked. Just purchased this NETGEAR router the other day because of how great the reviews are. They didn't have it at my local Best Buy, so I travelled to the Best Buy which is 30 minutes away from my house just to get this specific router. Could not be any happier with my purchase!!!! I never take time out to write reviews about products I buy, but this one is truly worth it. The range and speed is out of this world - I can now FaceTime so clearly in the living room, where I was not able to do at all with my old router. Everything is quick to download and no hesitation with YouTube videos as well. Buy this router, you will NOT regret it!

Pros: Simple set up, great performance
Cons: Nothing
Installed just like they suggested i.e. no changes to defaults and I was done in minutes. That's a printer, a Mac, a PC, an iPhone and an iTouch. Works great even in the garage!
