I bought the Vaio after having an HP laptop for 5 years without any problems, should have stayed with HP. This laptop would connect to the internet after 10-15 attempts but then would freeze up almost instantly. At first I thought it was my wireless at home but then I hooked up my 5 year old laptop and it connected first try with no problems. The battery would last no more than and hour and 45 minutes, not 6 hours as advertised. Sure it's pretty to look at but was more trouble than it was worth. Took it back after a week of total frustration and got an HP and I love it!!!

This laptop has worked great i have had for one month. The only problem i have had was once the wi-fi had stopped working i checked my router, modem, and everything you could think of but nothing still wouldnt work. Two days after the problem occured the problem went away. Other then that this computer has been working perfectly. The only problem is the battery runs for only about 2hrs and 30mins with average use, but with heavy usage it only runs for about 1hr 20mins.

I love this computer. It has a very sheek look and is simple to get up and running! Setting up wireless internet was easy, but you do have to be careful b/c there is a wireless on/off switch by the keyboard that seems easy to switch w/o realizing. The only bad thing is the short battery life and fingerprints.

I bought this Monday and knew I was going to return it Tuesday. I wasn't able to get onto the internet no matter what I tried. I continually received messages that said "this computer has limited connectivity to the internet" or something similar. After googling on my home PC I found that this is not an uncommon problem with these laptops. It could be vista too, not sure.
Equally as aggravating - the battery life was advertised in store as 7 hours. It may run for 7 hours if you have the computer set to something like Super Saver battery - the screen is very dull and the machine runs slowly. To run at a regular speed you get maybe 3 hours, if that. The long battery life was a main selling point for me.
Having said all that, the size of the laptop is nice, the screen seemed to have good resolution for video (but I didn't watch anything other than a sample video already on it) and it is a very pretty machine.
But I'm going to exchange it for something else tonight.

This is one sexy computer!!! Beautiful, streamlined design. Brilliantly designed keyboard. It's like a fusion of Mac and PC... Genius!
This was our first time with a Sony and this laptop made us believers!

I fell in love when I first saw this. Very stylish and has nice color. It almost look like a Mac book, but much better in style and price. Unfortunately, the FN (function) key works only with Sony drivers. Why is this bad? It is bad because the function key doesn't work with Linux or any other operation systems that Sony's drivers is not made for. One more thing...I don't know why Best Buy raised the price. It was $749 (without being on sale) last week. Now it's $779, but it's still a good price.

Great computer. Bright and vivid display, webcam works great on skype. Keyboard has a nice feel to it with raised keys. The only downside that I have found sofar is that the battery life is only about 2 1/2 to 3 hours, maybe a little less depending on what programs I am running. . I would have given it all 5 stars if the battery life was closer to as advertisedOne of the main reasons I bought this over some other models is that this computer can be upgraded from the standard 4gb of memory to 8gb.

I chose this laptop because of the different look. Love the keyboard and the screen. The weight of the laptop and the size were two the mandatory features that I was looking for. There is not a lot of 14.1 laptops out there anymore.
Have been using it for 3 weeks now and have found that the battery only seems to last 3 hours, which WAS the other key feature I was shopping for. I knew that while it advertised 6 hours, I had hoped for a least 4 or more. Nope, 3 hours is about all I get. (I will be going back to the store to inquire about this, it seems only 3 or 4 of the reviews note this concern.)
The only other issue I am having, is the wireless feature has an on and off button on the outside of the cpu on the right hand side. I happen to use the laptop on my lap quite often and find that I routinely turn the wireless off accidentally with my hand when I am balancing it on my lap. The good news is that as soon as I turn it back on, it does not miss a beat!

I bought this computer for school and love it! I originally got an HP touchsmart and have never had a slower computer so I traded it in for this one and it is incredibly fast. Had very quick set up. The keyboard is set up a little different than most laptops and takes some getting used to, but in the long run I make fewer mistakes with it as the keys are further apart. The only thing I would change is, longer battery life, less bloatware, and the odd on and off fan noise (but from what I have read, this is a sony issue in general). We have owned about 6 laptops in the last few years including HP's, Toshiba's and now a Sony, and this one is definitely on the top of the list!

This laptop is great for surfing the web and other simple tasks. My friend has it and she said that it's definitely the best laptop she's had so far. I like the motion eye web cam, and i like pretty much everything about it.

I like this laptop because it looks awesome, I like the keyboard on the laptop its way different on other laptop, It has a long battery life which is good. The only thing I don't like is the price, if the price was alittle lower that would be great, but other than that this is a great laptop.

the configuration of the laptop is very good. the performance is good, especially in sound and display. while the batterry can work 3 not 6 hours as said in the advertisement.
I order it online and pick up at the store, it is so convinient.
the service is also good. I found some bad pixels on the screen and the guys helped me to make a change at another store since they have sold out this model that day.

The look alone makes me like it. The white slim design makes it look like a mac, whose designs I always admire. It's thin and relatively light. The keys are distributed and feel nice when typing. Touchpad is big and easy to use. There are a few scroll buttons on the keyboard that are meant to facilitate media; I found the volume button not so smooth. Nice features include DVD-RW, camera, card reader, 3 USBs. The system is fast enough for me, who often use three adobe illustrating and office softwares at the same time. You can count on sony vaios to have tons of entertainment softwares but I'm too busy at the moment to test them out; I use freewares for entertainment anyway.
I had another sony vaio for 5 years; its harddrive died after 3 years. It takes a lot for me to consider another sony vaio. But I'm happy at the moment:)

Pros: I really like this laptop in general. The feel of the individual keys are nice and easy to use, the picture quality of the screen is clear and bright and the memory and processor is great for the price.
Cons: The sound quality of the speakers are not great. It reallly doesn't have adjustments to change tone and base, even in the settings. The volume is not too loud either. As for the battery, it states a 6 hour battery life on the computer on the website, it is not, expect max 3 hours.
I did have a couple of issues signing onto my wireless connection and I had to call Sony to have someone add a new driver to recognize the RCA router. The issue was that I really need to update my router, it was the compatibility of windows Vista, not the computer that was the problem and the Sony tech was great.
Overall the computer gets a 3.5-4. I feel the sound would be my first issue and the misleading battery is the second.

i did a vast research before getting this laptop, looked @ hp, dell, toshiba but didn't like any of them coz of price, stuffs in it (ram, harddrive, graphics).... i looked @ this laptop....4gb of ram , expandable to 8gb (awesome), intel graphics( but no dedicated memory :( and 320 GB harddrive (287 GB available to use)...for 749.99 + tax. it think it's the best deal u can get on sony vaio... i wish it came with 13.3" rather than 14.1".

Went in to look at a Dell for same price. I won't lie, the Vaio's pinkness is what drew me over to look at it while Hubster was checking out the Dell. The white Vaio was nice too, but hey, I'm drawn to pink ;)
Quickly became apparent that the Vaio had everything the Dell had and some pluses for me. I like the smaller size. Extremely portable. Better battery life. The keyboard is the most 'comfortable' I've found on a laptop. And this thing is screamin' fast and uber quiet.
The clincher was something you can't learn in the store ... our desktop is a Vaio and their customer support has been out of this world. They came to our house to fix a dead hard drive (accidental unplugging while in use = not good) two days after we called. No charge (under warranty). And no long phone wait either. And their live chat online is always fast too.
Took the pink laptop home. Pain free set up. Called customer support to tweak setting for optimum battery life. Very short wade through

Dear all,
I’ve been craving to buy a laptop for a very long time so I picked mine carefully and I am very fond of it. The price is good ( I am unpaid intern, so it couldn’t be a pricy and with sometimes worse specs mac). I was considering getting hp laptop (which had the same specks) but in the end I decided to get this one.
Why? Well, I do not trust too much hp brand laptops as many of my friends’ laptops had some manufacture faulty which made their lives miserable. Also, battery is good (power saver mode it least for like 4-5h), it’s fast and looks stunning :D Design is very feminine and I love keyboard. It’s nicely spaced and you have a good feeling writing on it.
I am not a specialist in area of laptops but I got it a week ago and I love it. There was no technical problems at all and everything runs smoothly (obviously there was some pre-installed sony programmes which were highly annoying but you can remove them easily).

I bought this Vaio last semester, but I had to replace it twice. This time it makes a problem to me again. Vista worked really bad, it protected me from everything and rebooted very often. The blue screen showed frequently. I don't want to be patient on it anymore. I am now looking for a new laptop; absolutely, not Vaio and Vista at all.

this is an excellent laptop, especially the battery life. About the price, it's quite reasonable compare to other sony vio. The colors are nice- white, red and black. It's very easy to set up. It runs very fast. Quite light so it's very convenient to carry from place to place.
I love this laptop. I have no complain about all Sony products. They are nice, good......but sometimes quite expensive,...but that is OK.
