I purchased this Macbook Pro 2.53 with 4GB DDR3 ram. A month later I noticed the processing speed slowed significantly and the cooling fan became lower. I took it in an Apple store nearby and I was told that the the fan works and there is nothing they can do about the noise. I asked them if they could replace it with another one considering it was only a month old, but I was told that replacement is never an option unless the computer is broken. I am very disappointed considering how much I paid for this computer.

I think the best way to justify getting a higher end notebook like a MacBook Pro is to think about how long you sit in front of the computer each day. Most of us rely on our notebooks a lot more than a few years ago, and so if you get this kind of mileage out of a computer, doesn't it make sense to spend a couple hundred dollars more on it? We throw away money every day on useless junk, but a computer is such a necessity, doesn't it make sense to get a high quality one? Speaking of high quality, a MacBook isn't just all hype and marketing. It's mostly in the engineering, and it definitely is well thought-out and flawless. The aluminum unibody is amazing and sturdy, and you feel the quality on every edge and laser-etched surface. The precision is astounding. The keyboard is tough and elegant, and the little features and attention to detail are marvelous. The screen is a huge selling point for this notebook. It is absolutely stunning and vibrant. Not owning other LED screen products, this

I have the highest hardware configuration you could buy in February 09.Substitute a solid state drive for the conventional one. First problem was the browser would shut down for no reason and then messenger later. This progressed until it would only stay open for one or two minutes. Certain DVD's won't play in the drive. Running two applications like messenger and the browser at the same time results in crashing requiring forced restart. Computer is slow despite using little space. For more than twice the price of a similar windows machine this thing is a disaster. Completely unreliable.

I recently made the switch from PC to Mac and I honestly couldn't be happier. Macs operate a little different than PCs so it takes some time to get used to everything but once you do, it's a fine powered machine. I actually returned the 13.3" and got the 15.4" as it was only $200 more. The MacBook Pro enables you to run Windows on it as well. I have run XP, vista, and 7 on it and they all run better than on my PC.

I bought a Macbook Pro solely for the Final Cut software (video editing software used by most major studios). Because of the software (another $1200), the computer is actually a good deal. Other than that though people have to realize that this is just a computer, and has problems:

(In order of severity- High to Low)
A terrible hard drive. To be able to claim that the computer's battery life is so high, Apple sticks a 5400rpm drive in these laptops. A terrible choice for anyone who does more than surf the internet, and it is especially slow for video editing.

Apple claims to be innovating with a mini display port. Unfortunately, I did not learn until after the fact that it contains no audio support, so no HDMI support. To connect to an HDTV now, you have to use vga (since most tvs have no dvi support) which is an analog signal, plus another cable to transmit poor 2 channel audio. For actually previewing anything that you edit, the computer is terrible, and you have

I've used a PC all my life and I was getting sick of the freezing and crashing. A PC might be good in the beginning, but gets slower and freezes more the longer you have it. So far, I haven't had any problems with my macbook. It's very lightweight and the aluminum body is great...quality build. The battery life is great, even with constant internet use I still get AT LEAST 4-5 hours of battery life. The screen is very clear and vibrant. Mac OS X Snow Leopard is great, and gives some improvements. The Operating System is really easy to use-a lot easier then using Windows Vista. The look of the OS is also more appealing then that of any Windows system out there right now. It's very cusomizable. A lot of programs that work on PC WILL work on Macs. I have Microsoft Office working on my Mac and it seems easier then using it on Vista. So far I haven't had any problems, if you have questions ask. I would definitely recommend this to any current PC user, or a Mac user looking for an upgrade.!!

My husband and I have been considering purchasing an Apple laptop for the past few years. He surprised me this year and bought it for me for my birthday. The graphics are incredible - I have not seen another product that can compare to the quality of the MacBook Pros screen display. My previous laptops have all been Dell's. I have found the MacBook Pro to be much faster, better organized and a lot more options with organizing your desktop/applications. I have been very pleased so far with our Apple purchase.

I have had PC's all my life, mostly Dells, and have had so many break on me I got fed up and got a mac for college, best decision I every made! I was worried that some software I would have to use in college would require a PC, but because so many kids have macs now a days, colleges offer most software in either format. It is so much fun to use, great looking, functional, and so far I have had 0 problems with any of the software. It isn't a myth that macs are better, take it from me!

I was very against buying a Mac because of the type of people you associate yourself with when you purchase one. You know the type. Extremely against PC, and if it has an Apple logo on it, you need to buy it and brag about it. I currently use both PC and Mac, a I have different needs that both operating systems are required.

For the price of a Mac Book Pro, I could get an extremely awesome PC laptop with all the bells an whistles. Sure, you then get the "PC's get viruses" lecture from Mac people, but then why does Anti Virus and Anti Spyware exsist for the Mac?

But the unit is fine. I do graphic design, photgraphy, and animation on it. The downsides to owning the system is the lack of an HDMI port, not a lot of hard drive space, and when I first purchased it the CD/DVD drive had a hard time reading anything I put into it. After returning it to Best Buy, I got a new one which worked just fine

So Pros? Great operating system, like the design, backlit keyboard is

The computer is for my daughter and I wanted her to have something that was not virus prone. The price is hard to justify at first, but she will be using this computer for a longer period of time than a PC laptop can take her. I find myself picking it up to use over my current computer because of the ease of use. We both love the programs and it is easy to transition over. Also, love the aluminum case because of durability.

Wow! I've wanted a Mac for a while and have been very intimidated by the layout of it. I went to a Best Buy and there was a table set up of just Macs and the guy sat there and gave me a tutorial on everything and once he was finished I felt totally comfortable with it. I am so glad I finally bought one! It is so easy to use and has everything I need (I did buy the software that has the similar programs of Word, PowerPoint and Excel). Am loving the light sensor that dims the screen if the room is dark so I can be in bed with my husband sleeping and not bothering him with the light. The keys all light up as well which makes typing a lot easier in less light, not to mention the quietness of the the keys :) The CD/DVD slot takes getting used to....it doesn't suck it the CD so you pretty much just push it in and then it makes some sounds. I got a little scared the first time I did it that something was wrong but....it read the CD and then ejected it easily. I would highly recommend a Mac!

The price of the MacBook is pricey for the specs in comparison to a PC. But it will impress you with its simplicity, design, and easy of use. The computer is very easy to use. Does not crash or freeze like most Windows PC's and does not slow down. Apple is worth saving up some more money and buying over a PC!!! Buy it !

As i said above most people will turn up their nose at apple because of the price but it is really worth it.

For starters Mac OS X Leopard that is the operating system is fantastic I will never be going back to windows. People say mac is not compatible but that is not true it is easier to make mac compatible with windows rather than the other way around.

On to the hardware, the Macbook Pro is an advanced and more powerful and better looking version of the White Macbook. 4GB RAM is plenty for multi-tasking around 5 demanding programs. 2.53GHz is very fast on the Mac OS rather than Windows because Windows is more power demanding. The battery life is fantastic and great for school, I get about 5hrs out of mine on half brightness and the backlit keyboard off.

The macbook pro's aluminium unibody is stunning and you wont find any better craftsmanship on a laptop. It is just amazing. There is no creaking plastic or anything.

Overall the macbook pro is a striking

I love everything about my Macbook Pro, I got it for my birthday a couple of days ago and I cant say anything negative except for the price, Its a little more expensive than other laptops on the market but its well worth every penny, The display is beautiful edge to edge glass, the webcam works great and has a flash ! , It is extremely easy to set up it does all the work for you !, the keyboard feels great under your fingers and it is illuminated and looks beautiful in low light conditions, the track pad is great and big, its like one huge button it self, and the Mac OS really makes this an outstanding purchase I`m so glad I got one and I think if your looking for a nice looking, small, well working laptop I`d say to definitely look at the Macbook Pro's.

This Macbook Pro 13' is amazing! Seriously anyone who is thinking that the price is too high, its well worth it! Unlike a PC this computer actually works, straight outta the box. Or if you don't know how to use a Mac don't worry its easy! This is my first Mac and I was shocked how easy it was to learn. This computer has great software by Mac and can run Microsoft Office for Mac which is great. This is the best choice for any student, especially college! :) I am beyond happy and is worth every penny!

As a college student. my concerns were mostly about the price. I told myself I could have gotten a PC (like a Dell or sony) that works well for an even lower price. Even though those did receive mostly good reviews, they have shortcomings. They freeze, battery life is short (especially when multitaksing),some software malfunctions, and the internet speed decreases with time. The Mac is raved about everywhere for good reason. I finally broke down and bought one, and I dont regret it at all. I have had it for about 3 months and it has not let me down. Don't let the pricetag scare you, it is phenomenal and Absoultely Perfect for college students.

I've owned laptops since '89... when Gateway came out with black and white ones! After all the buzz decided to get on the mac wagon... given the good reviews and mac cult-like following!

The advertised battery life is only true if all you are doing is wordprocessing and spreadsheets with wireless and surfing off... if you do any music listening or even video browsing... count on it being more like 2 hours and 45 minutes. Big fat lie about battery life and on top of that you can't just purchase an extra one.

The shiny display is truly awful in bright situations.

This mac has nothing on a similarly priced Sony, Dell xps or Asus. AVOID!!!

I hadn't even considered an Apple laptop but was having no luck with windows based models. At the recommendation of the salesman I gave in and bought this model. There are a few things I'm having trouble adjusting to such as the way the touchpad works, but overall, I love it.

I finally got the mac book from best buy as i have always purchased all the electronics from best buy. They have best prices no one can beat like this on @ apple store its still from 1199 and at Best buy its $50 cheaper . Also from past experience Best buy had been great and now transferring from windows to MAc it should be a great experience.

this computer just works plain and simple, no hang ups or anything. everything runs flawless and fast. if you're on the fence between some windows junk and this, i'd go for this. and if you absolutely need a windows program then just go buy an OEM copy of windows xp and load with bootcamp and you're set. this thing runs harder than any other computer i have ever owned. and the battery actually lasts as long as advertised, not like other computers that claim a six hour battery life, but really ends up being around 45 mins. it is a bit expensive but it pays for itself in the long run, you wont have nearly as many worries with an apple product. so if you are looking for somethin new and fast i recommend this to anyone.

I was a die hard PC user but go fed up with the typical PC annoyances. MAde the Jump to Mac by grabbin their smallest yet powerful Macbook Pro. (Strongest 13.3 that is) First few days were frustrating, I kept trying to find a taskmanger because I swear I was leaving App's open and I was. IT seems honky to me that after I X out of the only open window in a Application, that I still have to go up to the Top Bar and tell it to close again.

Fast forward a few days I begin to get the hang of things, due to my job I need to run some Windows Applications so a friend pointed me twoards VMWare Fusion. It's literally like running Windows on a Mac except better. A flip of the wrist gets me back and forth from OSX to my Virtual Windows 7. As time passes I see my productivity and abilities growing.

In the long run, yes any switch is frustrating but in time (short time) it will all be worth the investment. A Definite BUY.

"The new Macbook pro 13" is outstanding. I've always wanted something very portable that has great battery life ("7hrs") and excellent performance. I've been a pc user for years.. I use Paralells for work and it runs great. Apple laptops are blowing pc's in the dust and so true it is. Instead of reading this review you should be heading out to your nearest apple retailer!!! I just got this new Mac. I haven't used one for about 15 years. It is easy to set up. The battery usually last 4-6 hours depending on what I am doing. The people at apple have been very helpful with questions, I am having to learn the Mac version of Office but the tutorials have been very helpful with this. Overall it seems easy to use.

It is just beautiful, quality can be palpated and felt from the first time you turn it on. If you have never used a MacBook, this is the time for you to get one and stop dealing with PC's poor performance and amazingly nonfunctional new operating system.

This laptop is very useful for the college student. You can carry it around without having to break your back the way you might have to do with other laptops, and, you can be sure that you will have everything you need to write papers, make and upload videos, etc. The amount of applications on this laptop is incredible and they are quite simple to figure out how to use, as well. I only wish this laptop was a bit cheaper since there are other laptops out there that are not as expensive. However, because it is an Apple product, and because Apple is known for its reliable and very intelligent models, one must take the cost as a by-factor.

I wanted to like it but it didn't do it for me. the battery lasted 6.5 hours if I just let it sit there doing nothing but when i actually surfed, played music, and stuff like that i just got 2.75 hours.

Now, I am not a PC lover either. But I can get a lot more bang for the buck and with my PC it never crashed once. This is because it has dedicated graphics chip whereas this mac you are looking at my review for does not. it has shared graphics card which is not dedicated and is not as performance savvy as a dedicated aka discrete graphics card.

The computer is very fast and the recent upgrades (4G memory, firewire port and faster processor) are great - especially with $100 price drop. The LED screen is the best I have seen. The startup is very quick and it runs quiet. The backlit keyboard is fantastic. You can't go wrong with this Mac. It works great for business and pleasure. The price drop makes it more competitive with PC's but the performance of this machine beats PC.

I've been a PC person all my life and this is my first Mac and it was an extremely easy switch. The MAC's OS is way better and more advanced in every way than Windows OS. This computer has not one flaw with it. The battery lasts up to seven hours!! That makes the portability of this computer outstanding! I will be using this computer for college and I must say that iWork 09' (like Microsoft Office) is way more advanced and it doesn't look like a third grader's presentation. I will never go back to a PC, from now on I am an Apple buyer..

Well I must say I am very happy i did not buy apple's first iteration of the 13" aluminum macbook last year b/c they really got it right the second time around upgrading it to a macbook pro! Its nice to have that "pro" stamp on a 13" now! Apple has listened to their customers and have added everything they wanted and more, and managed to reduce the price! Thanks! PROS - finally a price cut with a performance upgrade! $100 less with added performance, and many other features. i knew apple could do it. i was tired of paying for aesthetics and not performance. - upcoming Snow Leopard OS upgrade in September will be free to anyone purchasing a mac from 6/9 til December! nice perk! - much better lcd screen! inline with the pro models...still glossy and still some glare but much nicer! - backlight keyboard on all 13" models now! ( i really enjoy this as it can be controlled from low to high) - FireWire is back. Personally i don't use this much but i know this will make a lot of
