Very solid machine and the unibody design is great. Feels solid and balanced. The display is out of the world. The Mac OS goes to sleep and wakes faster than windows could ever get out of BIOS bootup. I have been a windows user for 16 years and it was Vista that turned me away. This is what an Operating System should be. I can see why Microsoft has been chasing Mac for so long. Bootcamp works great for those times I do need to boot into windows. It handles Virtual machines with ease also. Very quiet machine and has none of the fan noise that my HPs had when under a load. Solid buy and worth the few dollars extra.

Only down side is that unless someone like Dynex makes an accessory, you are stuck with paying a premium for Apple branded products. Also would be nice if this had a 2nd Hard drive. Actually a dual platter and SSD configuration would be nice.

At first, I was hesitant to spend $2500 on a notebook, but with a suggestion from the local BestBuy Associate, and after reading reviews on the internet, decided to do so. I didn't like the Mac OSX 10.6, so I was brave and decided to load Windows 7 on it. It took a little time and patience, but once loaded, it ran like a banshee! Everything works well, it is VERY QUICK, the graphics are great, the lighted keyboard is neat, and it holds a great charge on the battery. I love the LED display, the hard drive is quick, and the WiFi is ridiculously quick. I am glad I spent the money because this unit is one of the best I have ever tested.

I put it next to my brothers new Alienware (it has higher specs), and my MacBook Pro 17 beat it every time. He was shocked, especially after he spent about $3500 on his notebook.

I HIGHLY SUGGEST this notebook to anyone who appreciates brilliant design, execution, and quality. I am glad I did it.

Defnitely the best laptop you can buy. It's almost perfect and hats saying a lot considering how great their products are already. They just keep getting better and better, but this machine is so great it will last me a long time before another upgrade. Bravo!

You know, I've always loved Macs. I guess I'm a sucker for the commercials and ads but you can't help but love them if you're into media and stuff. I know a lot of people complain about the price but I seriously doubt that Apple would lower the price knowing that most people are willing to make the switch from a PC anyway. Though even I find it pricey, like someone mentioned in their review, you 'get what you paid for.'

The truth is, PC's are less expensive but they do tend to require more maintenance, and I've even found myself spending more money JUST to acquire the different programs that don't actually come with your computer. Most of the time you just get trial versions and are pressed to buy the full versions of most of those programs. Plus, you know software (any kind of software) is expensive. Lately I've even found myself installing updates almost every week for one of our PC's. It's not a HUGE deal but it is annoying and makes me question how secure my PC actually is.

I bought this laptop as my first ever Mac purchase and I couldn't be happier. It does so much more than my many PCs ever could. I'm a college student and the 6-8 hour battery life is great for taking notes in class.

The display is without question the most beautiful I have ever seen on a laptop. The 512 video card is great for games and movies, which play seamlessly and beautifully on this Mac. I also love Garageband, and as a guitarist and one who records music it's fun and easy to use.

I also have an iPhone with mobile me, and iCal (calendar) is a great app that keeps my schedule straight for me. All-in-all this Mac is fast, reliable, and fun to use and I wouldn't recommend anything else if you are wanting to make a great investment that will last you for years to come.

Why do people still buy PCs when Apple makes laptops like this one? To say it is miles ahead of any PC is an understatement. It's almost insulting to compare Apple products to any PC. The MacBook Pro is practically maintenance-free.

This is the most reliable computer I have ever used. I have two 17" MacBook Pros. One is 3 years old and still faster than just about every PC I encounter. The other is the new 3.06GHz version of the 17" MacBook Pro. My 3-year-old MBP still has many, many, many more years left in it. I'm still stunned by how quickly they both perform. With the solid-state drive on my new Mac, startup is about 20 seconds! With the standard SATA hard drive in my older machine, booting up takes about 35 seconds. Waking from sleep is instantaneous on both models. For their size and power, they are still the thinnest and lightest 17" models on the market.

It's definitely worth mentioning that with internet, iTunes, Mail, Word, and Photoshop open, I still achieve

I've only had this laptop for about 3 weeks and I just love it. Little things about this laptop impressed me. For example:

-It wakes up immediately from sleep mode. With a PC laptop, it takes about 10 to 15 seconds.

-There isn't junk installed on it...the apps preloaded are actually USEFUL. iDVD, iPhoto and cool stuff like Garage Band and Front Row. There is not one program that is only a trial.

-It works seamlessly with my HP printer. That's more than I can say for my laptop with the Vista OS.

-It comes with the OS and drivers disc. How many of us have spent money to get the OS disc from Windows??

-It plays media on the internet without skipping. Now I can watch a baseball game in actual real time without it freezing and skipping to catch up.

-You can switch from one program to the other without having to minimize anything. That is one my pet peeves with Windows.

-This laptop just works..period. It has only frozen on me once--for

This is my first Mac computer and I was more then excited to make the switch from PC's. However, I have had this Laptop Pro for only a few months and have had so many problems with it. Within the first 3 months the display quit working and had to brought in for repair. That in itself is a hassle and not what you would expect. However, I brought in to a local "genius bar" and was told that the parts would be in within 2 days, it took almost 3 weeks to get them in for the repair. Then about a week after that the trackpad stopped working altogether. Waiting for parts now. Absolutely not what I expected after spending so much money. Both repairs have been deemed equipment malfunction and nothing to do with user in case anyone wonders. Beyond those two huge issues, this machine runs super hot. When I tried to use it on my lap it would burn my skin through my clothes. The 7 hour battery doesn't last 7 hours. Usually 2 and sometimes 3 but not much beyond that.
The best things I can say about

I'm typing this review with my MBP 17". I love it more than any windows computer I've ever owned. I'm 110% Satisfied with the machine. The touchpad is extra large and the click button built into the touch pad is an amazing feature. The 1920x1080 display is great.

When I first got this computer I though the price was a little high, but once i actually got to use the laptop, I realized it was worth ever penny. I built my desktop and at the time, which was a year and a half ago, it was the best thing money could buy......but this laptop 1/10 of the size and twice as sleek, renders programs, games, and just simple computing operations twice as fast. its beautiful display makes it seem like you can reach out and grab things off the desktop, it's so clear. the backlit keyboard gives me the ability to type in the dark which is very handy when i want the lights out....or the lights go out. the battery life is also great. the laptop i had prior to this had a near extinct battery, but with this i can stay off the outlet and not think twice about whether i need to charge up. overall if i had the opportunity to buy this laptop with knowing what i know now i wouldnt think twice about buying. out of all the laptops i would recommend this one.

I've grown up with PC's my whole life and I never gave Mac computers a chance because I was ignorant as many of us are when it comes to Mac vs PC.

If you are thinking maybe should I get a mac?

Yes, they are durable and have a long lifespan compared to PC notebooks.

If you are even thinking the white plastic macbook... it is fast enough. I mean really fast. This 17" macbook pro I'm using can play Full 1080p Video
smoothly on its 9400M. If I turn on the faster card, I wouldn't know unless I put Sims 3 on Max graphics and resolution.

I'm impressed with MAc OS X... It is the bomb. I love more than windows and it is faster booting up, opening programs, shuting down than windows can achieve.

The LED backlit display is bright and sweet. The Color on this is so gorgeous it is like... better than any computer I've seen. The color is like real life color.

THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS MAC IS THAT IT DOESN"T OVERHEAT. I take this computer on my

I bought this computer as soon as it was available and I absolutely love it. I have not had any problems at all. The technology in a Mac is so much more advanced then PC's, It's alot of money, but it is well worth it. I was a PC guy and I hated Mac's, but then I had alot of PC trouble so I thought I'd give them a try after I had seen them work. O my gosh, what a great decision on my part. If your into making movies and doing stuff with pictures. This is the perfect computer for you. Thanks Mac. I won't share my comments on Best Buy, but I'm never buying from them again.

WOW ... I have heard about Macs for a long time and had become disenchanted with my Microsoft laptops always crashing and becoming infected with this and that.

I bit the bullet and bought this and I am amazed at the total difference of the experience. It is so simple to use though there is a learning curve from Windows OS run laptops.

It comes loaded with apps that you have to pay for in Windows and I don't have to worry about deleting and uninstalling all the trial software (that I didn't use anyway) on my Windows based laptops.

Shall I go on???

I only have had it for a week, but what a week it has been. All I did was setup with my email address and it automatically knew all my contacts and calendar dates. It knew me better than I knew myself.

I got home today and worked on it all day and I was still running on battery over 6 hours later and I had almost 30% of my battery left. I can't wait to get home tomorrow to find out what my new MAC can
