This drive was recommended to me by a counselor at the Apple store. My laptop is 6 years old and this drive is replacing a much smaller drive that was at capacity and beginning to under perform. The HD on my Toshiba A665-S5173 notebook alerted me to an imminent failure. This drive was only a 5400 rpm drive anyway and, frankly, I was looking for a good excuse to replace it with a faster, 7200 rpm drive. So, I got lucky (!!) and the issue with my Toshiba drive helped make my decision to buy a LOT easier.

Pros: Lots of storage for the money - a real upgrade to MacMini
The biggest problem in putting one of these into a MiniMac is getting the case of the MiniMac open but some you-tube video's showed how to do that. Once that was done, the Hard Drive was a no-brainer. Just plug it in and it worked.

I bought it to put into an HP laptop in place of the original 160 gig 5400. I didn't know if the capacity was to large for the older laptop. However I did not encounter any problems with it. I don't know if it was due to this drive being 7200 or the fact I installed Win 7 instead of the Vista that came with the laptop.....or the combination of the two.....but my laptop was noticeably faster.

My hard drive crashed and I had two options: get a new laptop or get a new hard drive. I went with the (much, much cheaper) option of getting a new hard drive. After talking with the Best Buy associate, I chose the Seagate Momentus 500GB. Installation was a snap, and my laptop is now up and running better than before!

To me, a hard drive is a hard drive, and I do not need extraordinarily fast retrieval times. But I do expect it to work. I bought this as a replacement for a failed drive and had it installed by the Geek Squad. I don't think it ever worked properly, but it went downhill quickly and had to be replaced within a week. The replacement to that drive has worked fine. We will see how long it lasts.

I bought this 500GB drive to replace my 500MB drive in my Toshiba laptop. I chose this replacement because of price and the fact that is was a 7200rpm unit, expecting much higher performance. You usually cannot go wrong with Seagate or Maxtor. Seagate won here due to price and speed. I've been running with the new drive for about 1 month now without any problems. Some reviews talked about it delivering better speed and being quieter. I really don't notice either one. Other reviews talked about it using more power (i.e., draining the battery faster). Again, I don't notice any difference.

This hard drive is used as a secondary drive in my gaming laptop. I use it to dual-boot Ubuntu and Windows7. Ubuntu is on the Momentus. I can tell that it is a 7200rpm drive seeing as how the boot time is about 1/4 the time as booting Win7. I believe it runs even more silently then my factory hard drive, which has never let me down either. I'd recommend this drive to anybody looking for more space.

When the HDD on my HP dm laptop crashed after 13th months of use [Right after the warranty expired on that laptop ;(, I wonder if it was programmed to do that as part of the new hardware sales strategy??] I was looking for an upgrade and it seemed like this 500 GB 7200 RPM Seagate SATA drive would be a good replacement in place of the original Samsung. Part of the reason I picked Seagate over WD due previous experience with Seagate laptop drive my other HP had which is 4+ yrs old and never caused any issue (touch wood!:)
