Great Laptop

I must say that I am extremely pleased with this laptop. I was a little nervous buying a refurbished computer, but I had no reason to be. I have had this computer for about a month now and everything works fine. This is a great computer for me as a college student. It's large in size, but lighter in weight than other 17" laptops which is great for me when I have to haul it across campus all day in my backpack. I highly recommend this product to anyone and everyone, but especially for students who are on a tight budget but need a high-performance laptop! :-) Daniel, Florida Panhandle

DV7-1243CL is Excellent

Great laptop if you like the size of a 17". Strong performance with an excellent feel and look. Suitable for use when making business presentations. Easily upgraded to final release of Windows 7.The only con is that shared by most reviewers... The bronze keyboard is very difficult to read dim light or glare.

Nice laptop

I bought this laptop for my wife and am very impressed with it. Our friends bought the exact same one for their daughter who is heading off to college and they paid nearly $1000 for it at a retail store. It has a lot of features that we probably won't even use, like the wireless remote for doing powerpoint presentations and such, but it sure is nice to have that capability. It seemed to be a little slow when we first got it, so I went into msconfig and took all of the programs out of the task bar that were slowing it down, and now it zips right along(and it also runs cooler). It connected flawlessly to our network and gets very good signal anywhere in our house. Overall, we are very happy with our purchase!

Fast and handsome

I love this laptop: it is sleek and beautiful, performs well, and I was able to download my existing software (Microsoft Office Home and Student and Adobe Acrobat) onto it without having to pay twice for the software - since each allows you to have it installed both on your Desktop and on your Laptop.It is larger than I needed, but I am very happy with it as the 17" screen makes it easier to read than a smaller screen.

nothing but problems

I have had nothing but problems with this computer...I am on the verge of returning it. The DVD drive does not work half the time...the Vista operating system is horrible...and HP has this Media program that never loads properly. The webcam freezes continually. I am not a novice using computers, but this one has me stymied. The features sounded great...they just don't seem to work that great. I am wondering if it isn't the operating system? Or is it the computer.
