I record videos and post them on TeamKLIPZ.com. The videos are of youth sports and the Flip camera works really well for this. It is easy to use, download and then upload the videos. I get some really good video of the kids playing their sports and I have fun doing it with the Flip camera.

The portable Flip ultra is the perfect device to carry to capture events as they happen. The fact that you can use aa batteries is a plus as you can carry a pack when away if the chargable batteries need a boost. The zoom could be a bit stronger but for the basic use it is fine. The battery charger and usb extension cables are all extra. I would hope that maybe instead of nickel and diming you for these that they would be included in the package price one would pay. Waiting for the extra usb extension cables to arrive to be able to upload clips without putting stress on the swing out usb arm. I bought a HDMI cable ( $18) to attach to my lap top and was able to view all my video clips from the flip recorder along with Hula TV, Picture slide shows etc....This is much cheaper than opting to buy the wireless option for $150 to view your flip videos on your HD TV. I like the available waterproof flip case if you want to shoot clips under water for snorkeling but $50 is a bit pricey. The emailing of video clips is simple through Flips email icon at the bottom of the screen. Have not been able to make a DVD movie yet as my DVD software program for some reason sayes the MP4 files are not supported. Have to research and get a program that is able to do this. Overall I am happy with this small portable recording device.

With my digital camera conking out on me during a family event, I needed to find something that wasn't bulky, portable, I can easily use on a PC and Mac and would give very good quality video. So, after a lot of research, everyone has seemed to rave about the Flip Ultra Camcorder (2nd Generation). As many have suggested, I also made a purchase of Eneloop rechargeable batteries and didn't go with the rechargeable battery pack and so far, I have been able to capture a good amount of video. Good light conditions, low light conditions and for the most part, it's easy to use, easy to sync to my Mac and PC and easy to access and pull any videos I need to for direct editing. The device comes with a pouch, strap and cables to connect to your TV (if needed). I did order this device with the Flip Video USB cables and people were right. You want those cables to plug in the device because it's a bit cumbersome to place on a laptop or if you are on an iMac, the back of your computer or the keyboard. So, the cables worked fine and made things easy. Software was easy to use and PC and Mac software was included in the device. Plug it in and your computer detects it and just install from the new drive. With a Mac, my iPhoto did come up but on the first try, wasn't able to download to iPhoto but was able to use the Flip software for the Mac quite easily. As for downloading video, it's easy to transfer to your computer and re-edit it on video editing software if needed. Takes a little time to transfer, depending on the size of the video. And the good thing is that the majority of the reviews from those on Amazon that have been positive were quite right in their assessment of this device. Now, I can't compare to other similar hardware but for its price, portability and ease of use and the quality from this little device, it's definitely worth it!

Pros: great design and idea
Cons: Product not made to last. No service after 90 days
I purchased the Flip Video and was instantly amazed by the simplicity and intuitive engineering of the device. I was an extremely happy customer until I needed support. Every once in a while I would turn on the camera and instead of getting a video image, I got a black screen. Restarting the unit usually took care of the issue.

Now after a year, I only get this black screen and nothing else, the camera will no longer function. I contacted Pure Digital Technologies for assistance and we began the troubleshooting process. I was told to take out the batteries for 2 days and put in fresh ones and try again. This did not work. Pure Digitals response? They informed me I was past my 90 day warranty and sorry for the inconvenience. Case closed and marked solved. They have chosen not to respond to any further requests for help.

A quick search on the net showed me that I am not alone with this problem... This appears to be occurring rather often with their product and they are unwilling to stand behind their quality if your purchase happened more than 90 days ago. This is by far the weakest link in Pure Digital technologies flip video chain. My advice... Spend the extra $ and get another manufacturer's product that is built to last. As cool as this video camera was, consumer electronics should not be a crap shoot.

Over all- this is a great little camera. I was up and running in a few minutes taking and sending videos over e-mail to family. It is easy to use and has a pretty decent picture quality until you try to zoom in on something especially at a distance. This is not a problem for me because I plan to use it indoors anyway. I am happy with it.

Easy setup, easy to use, quality is quite nice for the price paid. The only thing it could use is a short USB cord so pluging into a regular PC or hub is easier & it doesn't stress the connection if not supported.

The Flip is easy to use, has good quality pictures. and good sound. I have not used it enough but so far any complaints I use the video camera for dog training. I train service dogs and recording myself will improve my training skills. I can see mistakes and timing issues.

Good Purchase! I got exactly what I expected from my research on pocket cameras.<br/>The FLIP Video is now my number one accessory. It''s easier to pull out of my purse than a phone or even my digital camera and gets going fast!<br/>The ability to take snapshots off the video is good - high quality photos.<br/>Couldn't be any easier to use. I love technology, but it's nice to have something so simple to use for a change.<br/>Only negatives: There is no lens cover, so I am worried that I'm going to scratch it up (protective sleeve is nice).<br/>And I would recommend more editing software. What's included is easy to use, but you basically need to export the video into an editing program from there, so mak sure you have something to edit with.<br/>For the price and my expectations, this was a great purchase!

I think for a kid its the perfect video camera to video her and her friends. And it doesnt take much to down load the videos to the computer. So easy to function. Love it Love it Love it.

Easy to use and picture quality is very good. I like the fact you can immeditate view the videos on your computer, share them over the web or connect the camera to a TV for group viewing.<br/><br/>I have not quite figured out the editing functionality and don't know if it will allow me to do what I want to do. I use the camera primarily for my daughters basketball team to make it easier to record stats and to teach/show the girls how to improve. It would be nice to be able to edit out all the extraneous stuff and only have what I want to see.

Positives: Great video quality, unless your a professional videographer. then it's not for you. But for myself and the kids, its great. Very, very easy to use, lightweight, easy to transfer videos to the web or to show on the t.v.<br/><br/>Negatives: Received it December 24, and it doesn't work anymore as of January 11. Called the manufacturer, said keep the batteries out for 72 hours,,,,,,here we go, lets see if it works. Hopefully this is a simple fix :)

I've used this for one outdoor project so far, and done some indoor experimenting. Indoor images are surprisingly good even in low light. Just don't depend on the zoom, because that greatly reduces the photo quality.

easy to use, A+. A- is that you cannot get tight close ups. sound quality not so loud on play back. I bought it for a 12 year old. she likes it though. Good for a gift. Fun to use. great outdoors. Fun to play with on trips. <br >worth the $.<br ><br >Also, bought from J&amp;R music world . They are a great company out of NYC to deal with. Buy all my electronic, cameras, video, music merch needs from them since 1985!! After 9-11 I went there to buy a new camera ( as soon as they were open again) to show my love and support them, they are across the street from what was WTC) J&amp;R never fail to please. great staff knows their info, can help a novice. <br ><br >This camera was another example of a great purchase from J&amp;R. It made for a happier xmas.

Very easy to set up, use and transfer pics to computer. However, the picture quality on playback is just horrible. Very pixelated and grainy, even when hooked up to TV's via HDMI. The playback looks great on the small 2" screen or when viewed in a small YouTube window at approx 5", but don't try to play it back for family on any kind of normal scrren, you will be embarrassed by the picture quality!"

The flip has many more pros then it has cons. I am going to use it to catch bits of my family events. So an extended memory wasn't the main focus to me. What really attracted me to the Flip was the fact of how easy it was to use and that it only takes a pair of AA to work. Which can be found at any local store and gas station if need be. No need for film, cumbersome batteries or the bulky bag you need to store it all in. It is small enough that it fits conviently into your pocket. The only thing i think that they could improve on it is the low light filming.
