VIZIO VSB210WS Universal HD Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer
My experience with this sound bar may not be typical, but be aware it does happen. I purchased this item to replace TV speaker with something better. I have a Vizio LCD TV so this should be a breeze to setup. First one didn't work. A call to Vizio tech for help, (they are friendly but just follow a script for troubleshooting), indicated the unit was defective. They sent me a prepaid shipping label to send unit back, upon receipt sent a new unit. Time 2 weeks. Second unit, did not function. Call to Vizio tech, same troubleshooting steps, indicated unit was defective. Again sent shipping label, time to next unit 10 days. Third unit finally worked as it should. The problem with the other two units was when you hooked them up and turned them on, all the volume lights lit, but the unit would do nothing other than turn off. No buttons on the unit or remote worked and unit did not indicate any inputs nor try to pair with woofer. Cons: see above, very poor manual, tech help is scripted only, remote is not very powerful (10 foot range), no SPDIF cable included, no off switch on subwoofer Pros: setup is easy, no wires to woofer, fairly attractive and unobtrusive, acceptable sound Comments on the sound. I am not an audiophile so please consider that. The sound is really better than the tv speakers, bass can be overwhelming but at least the subwoofer volume can be adjusted. Movies do sound more theater like in a typical living room (20 x 25) with full furniture, etc. Music is acceptable not great but not bad either. This is not 5.1 audio system. The SRS is marginal in imitating a full system. Overall if you don't want to invest in, and have speakers everywhere in the room, this is a decent choice to replace the tv speaker. The sound will be better, but far from a full theater experience. But be aware getting a unit that works may not be easy for you, it wasn't for me.

VIZIO VSB210WS Universal HD Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer
Purchased Vizio soundbar with wireless sub-woofer in March 2010. After seven months the audio on the unit now cuts out every five minutes for 20 seconds. Obviously, very annoying. After speaking with Vizio tech support they informed me the unit needs to be replaced, but refurbished units only have a 90 day warranty.... so, I am out of luck. Very disappointed in the quality of Vizio products - my Vizio TV died after 3 months (thankfully that was still under warranty). Buyer beware with Vizio products!

After a lot of research, both online and in stores, a friend sent me the review of this unit from Home Audio Magazine. So, I decided to go with it. I ordered the refurbished unit from Comp USA thru Amazon. First off, the unit does show some wear. Not bad, and unless you look closely at it, you don't notice it standing by the tv. The hook up was very, very easy. I hooked it up to my 52 inch Sony Bravia via an optical cable. I plugged both pieces in and couldn't figure out if it was on or not. The display is hard to read. I did call tech support, which has nice long hours, and they helped me to figure it out. Once the sound came thru the speaker, it was awesome. I hope I'm not blowing the neighbors out since I live in a one bedroom apt. Once I adjusted the volume and the subwoofer, I went to the neighbor downstairs to make sure it wasn't vibrating through the floor. All was well. I listened to a music channel and then watched GLEE. The music was fabulous! What a difference from the tv speaker! Sometimes I had a hard time hearing dialogue from the tv speakers. Not now. I had to readjust the volume several times because it was too loud, but clear. After just one evening, I am very happy with this product. Yes, the remote is a piece of crap, but overall the system is great! If I were to buy it again, I would probably not buy a refurbed one.

We bought this item on Amazon because of all the great ratings. Little did we know that there were no rating that justified how awesome this sound system is. When looking at this system you would not imagine that you could get such sound from something so small. We had been using the audio from our flat screen for over a year and I started to notice that a lot of the time, I couldn't hear what was being said on TV and in the movies and we soon realized that the audio quality was horrible. After investing in this sound system for $170 (we bought it refurbished from CompUSA on Amazon and it came looking brand new) we feel like we are in a movie theater. The sound is unbelievable from this system and the bass is superb. We tested it out last night by watching the newest Happy Potter movie and we actually had to turn it down a few times because our house was rumbling and our dogs got scared. It felt like being in a movie theater and the sound was crystal clear. If you are going to spend the money on a new audio system for your TV then this is the one, you will not regret it. The one and only thing that threw me off when I was installing it is that when you turn the unit on you expect to see the light on the power button light up. The light does not light up because if it did, it would shine on the TV so I was thrown off for a few minutes until I saw that when you power it on there are a few LED lights behind the fabric on the bottom right side of the speaker which increase and decrease depending on when you are changing volumes and then they shut off. The unit came right out the box, plugged in and was working in minutes. Its also gorgeous! A+ System, great investment!

The remote is nothing to write home about. It is very small and you do have to aim it just right. Also I don't like the Vizio LED indicators on the front of the unit, hard to read. Those are the CONS. However there are still enough PROS to warrant a Five Star rating. It sounds great and it worked without issue right out of the box. Paring of the the subwoofer happened more or less automatically. I'm using it with a Panasonic 42 Plasma and the improvement in sound fidelity is significant. The wireless subwoofer is very cool and although it does not go down very far (compared to my SVS sub that impacts my breathing when Sauron drops the ring)it is pretty impressive in the freq range it does support and it adds a lot to the experience, especially when watching action oriented movies. As far surround goes I cannot say i really noticed any real "simulated" surround effect but for the money I did not expect it either. The system goes as loud as I would ever want in our living room and on the whole I'm very satisfied and would consider other Vizio products based on the performance of this unit. Definitely value for money.

1. The sound is not discernibly better than the built-in speakers in my Samsung 50" DLP. The only real difference is that music plays twice as loud as speech, so you have to keep continually adjusting the volume. 2. The cheesy little remote has a true range (despite what the specs say) of about 8-10 feet. If you sit farther than that from your set, you'll get a lot of exercise. 3. The optical input port broke after a couple of months so it will no longer hold the cable. I'm getting rid of this thing. In my other house I have a Sony system, which works MUCH better.

This unit did not work out of the box. I was on the phone with two different customer service techs and they did not know what they were doing. One wanted to replace my TV and the other one wanted me to go and buy a new cable. Then they were going to have home repair come out. Then they were going to have it shipped back and send me a new one. I was so confused that I just put it back in the box and returned it to the store for a refund. Customer service was so bad that I bought a Samsung sound bar and it is a much better unit and it worked out of the box. The Samsung has a lot more features and has a much better remote.GOODBYE VIZIO.
