Spent many hours comparing models, technology, reviews, etc... and am 100% sure I picked the right TV. This is our first Plasma and we couldn't be happier. The picture quality is excellent, even if it is the 720, and we've had zero glare issues. I compared it to others in the store and the Samsung just blew them away - not to metion the great price $799 (+a free home theatre). Sound quality is great as far as we're concerned. I was worried about mounting it on our wall because of the weight but we bought a highly rated Sanus wall mount and it is mounted perfectly. Next purchase will be the Samsung LED LCD (WOW!!!) - just can't afford it right now... Highly recommend the Samsung product line.

Got this TV a couple of weeks ago. Had the choice between this Samsung and its Panasonic 50" 720p counterpart (TC-P50X1). They were both priced at $799 and I picked the Samsung because it has a PC input (great for streaming Netflix/YouTube/etc) while the Panasonic does not.
If you don't hookup your laptop to your TV, go for the Panasonic instead as BB currently has it for $699.
Bottom line: Love this TV and will certainly keep it for a while. 720p looks great to me and the sound is fine too.

Very good tv. Great tv for the money. This one was half the cost of others. The sound could be better, but we hooked up to new speakers and that fixed our problem. The kids love to use it for the Wii - really good picture.

Pros: 3D Ready, 1080p capable, Great Picture, Great Sound.
Cons: Plasms so be careful of burn in images, Some features lost at 1080p resolution. Also 3D mode is 720p only.
I've been looking for a flat panel of any kind that was 3D ready and finally found this one. At 720p this TV out performs many TVs this is one of Samsungs best and I replaced a broken 1080p LCD with this one and I was very surprised that the color and sound was actually much better and this TV was half the price. You have to be careful of burn in but other than that it performs great. Found ou tthis TV can support 1080p but the refresh is reduced to 60Hz. Actuallly my wife figured this out for me and at that refresh motion blur is painfully obvious at times but bareable. At 720p it is back up to 120Hz with 600Hz subfield and motion blur is no longer an issue. Also at this lower resolution 3D is possible. This is the first of the new 3D techs which supports everything 3D (not just movies). Does require a pretty powerful computer attached but since I work on them for a living I already had that covered. Basically if your computer has an HDMI out you should be safe. If it has DVI

I have been waiting to purchase a plasma for a long time now, just waiting for a reasonable price drop on it. I have always been a Samsung fan when It came to any product I considered purchasing, Cell Phone's, Home Theater System's and Especially PLASMA'S. I purchased it for an incredible $750.00 and am completely amazed with the picture quality, Dim lit rooms? Not for this, You can have the sun shining right on it and it still has brilliant picture quality, what I love the most about the television is that I hooked it up to my reciever and have 1500 watts of bass pumping, room shaking surround sound watching a movie on my HD DVR reciever or playing the vintage Atari 2600. Another amazing benefit of owning one of the best brand name television on the market, is the fact that I took my pc out of my office, and hooked it up to have a 50" computer moniter with one quick plug in. Thanks Samsung, you really knocked one out of the park with this one! I'm even considering purchasing 2 more, one

I originally purchased a Sony Bravia LCD because of their "reputation", however I was totally dissappointed. The picture quality was awful, especially on standard definition channels. The sound kept going in and out, I thought it was the station, but it also went out when my son was playing his PS3, I knew it was time to take it back to the store. I exchanged it for this television, the Samsung 50" plasma. I am so pleased with this television, I am a Samsung consumer now. The picture quality is beautiful, and that mess about not recommended for well lit rooms, is not true. My room has lots of natural light and the picture is still beautiful, I am SOOOOOO PLEASED. Thank you Samsung.

I've had this TV for 5 months, and it already has 5 games burned into the screen. One of witch after only 3 hours of play. Also network logos like Nick Jr and Sifi channel are burned in. why dose it have a game mode if you can't play games on it, you can't even watch most TV channels because there logo will burn into your screen. What good is a TV you can't watch? No help from Samsung with this. VERY UNSATISFIED!!! PS. My complaint is with Samsung, not Amazon.

Great TV. I've been killing my XBox 360 with HD graphics and 5.1 digital sound. Even has a rotating stand so that I can change my mind and connect things differently without rearranging furniture. Wish they had allowed for at least one other analog signal set (Left,Right,Video) with the rear inputs. I have an HD DVD Receiver and an XBox 360 and the 2 HDMI connections are all I need, there are 2 analog connections, one is consumed by my satellite receiver in the rear and one is on the side; so my Wii had to be connected into the side until I found an HDMI outpt cable from Nyko for it. Other than that, It's All Good!

Purchased this Tv for my 91 year old grandmother. Her vision is getting bad and needed High definition to see her programs. The TV is perfect for her, she didn't need 1080p capabilities and the PC input allows her to see the computer better. Overall a great Tv.

Bought this 720p because I couldn't afford the 1080p... was SHOCKED by how great the picture was. Sat mezmerized for a good 12 hours watching this in the bedroom... the 50 inch screen dominates the small room like a movie theater screen. Need a magnifying glass to see the difference between this and the 1080p in the livingroom, but when you sit back there is no perceptible difference. Hook this up to a Hi Def cable box with an HDMI cable and you will not be sorry. Most satisfying purchase I've made in years.

Get a sound bar with wireless sub-woofer and you are good to go! Love this TV. I have an 07 model with no issues and purchased this model and set it up for my mother in law. Couldn't be happier. I really like Samsung's tv's.

I got a great deal on this TV, along with a Samsung home theater system. I compared picture quality at the store, with original intent to buy an LG. But the Samsung was much crisper, with better contrast. I also noticed that text on the screen was much clearer. Sound quality is not bad for a TV, but as with any setup, it's much better with a sound system.

I bought this TV almost a year ago and I love it. Perfect picture and sound. It is only 720p and it looks so much better then my brother and fathers 1080p LCDs. This TV is great for games and when I watch a BluRay on this I feel hypnotized. I love this TV and plan to buy a second one soon!

I bought this 720p 50" Samsung Plasma TV for my husband for Christmas. We already had a 1080p 50" Vizio in our basement. I can't even tell a difference in the pixels. When I bought it the saleman showed me a 720p and 1080p next to each other - couldn't tell a difference. I bought the extended warrenty on it "just in case" because of some reviews I've read, but I feel I got the TV so cheap I could afford to do a 3 year warrenty.

All i want to say is that i never believed i would see the day when a 50" Plasma would cost less than $1000.

Do NOT believe the hype ab!out LCD vs Plasma. Plasma is the way to go hands down! Better refresh rate....no motion blur (good for viewing sports)....deep blacks, excellent contrast ratio 2 million:1 vs 100k:1 on LCD's. Go with an LCD is your going to be using it as a computer monitor or watching the stock market. (Burn in)

I decided to buy this PLASMA TELEVISION after reading all the reviews and couldn't be happier!! Picture is crystal clear, sound is decent. You want a BOOMING SOUND system? Buy a Surround System!

I also bought the Samsung top of the line Blu-ray and the remote works on both! I researched this television for about 20+ hours. =)

I've had this TV for about a month now, and I just love it. Was going to get LCD but was lured into researching plasmas due to the lower price. Was worried about getting 720p instead of 1080p but the difference in picture does not justify the difference in price. The sound could use a boost, but our package deal came with a Samsung surround sound that fixes that problem. Only rated 4 stars on the features because I haven't explored all of the different options yet. This TV has calmed any fear I might have had about pruchasing a flat screen, and I'm glad I took the plunge on this TV. Looks great with a PS3, football games - overall, very impressive looking. Looking forward to hosting this year's Super Bowl party. Very satisfied.

This plasma television is great. Bought it in August and have not experienced any problems. We have an HD box from time warner and the HD channels look great. It set to output at 1080i . SD channels at 480i . Everything looks great. Its on a tv stand with mounting brackets. I would recommend it to anyone looking for 50 in tv at good price. i have not seen burn in on this television. Only thing left to do is buy surround sound. The sound on the tv is ok. Loud enough . We had it delivered to our house.

This is really a great tv. You get the Samsung quality, in addition to 720p you get plasma, which is of superior image quality to LCD (unless you need an ultra-bright screen to battle with soaking amounts of sunlight). If you go bigger than 54", go 1080p; otherwise, stick with 720p, since you won't be able to tell the difference.

In addition to the savings, your "HD" tv box is also probably compressing the hell out of your signal (I have FiOS Extreme HD and I see artifacts and blocky compression even on HBO). Also, get an LG blu-ray (not the Samsung crapware).

This tv is awesome. I think you will like, alot; I was a cinematography major in college and the image quality is good enough for me; it will no doubt be good enough for almost all others.

NOTE: Plasma tv's cannot be laid on their side; when picking up, remember this: You WILLl need a truck with STRAPS to get home.

Haven't really owned long enough to write a good review. I do know that this particular T.V. has the best of every thing per my questionare with one of the Best Buy Reps in Video/ Audio department. I also know that if they need repairing or are in need of major repair, it may be wise to just buy another because the cost to fix may almost come close in cost to buy another. I did notice that when I turned the T.V. left or right on its revolving stand it showed interference (static when the T.V. was turned left or right from its revolving stand) Other than that its a great T.V. and I give it a thumbs up on all its features! I would also suggest getting an in store extended warranty for the T.V. just in case something happens to it within a 1yr. period.

I have only had it two weeks and I have had two issues with image buring. Once when I was on the computer for a little over an hour and once while listening to a CD in the Surround Sound (it burned in the SAMSUNG logo). The first one went away in a days times, I am not waiting on the second one. I am taking it back today and getting a LCD.

Samsung does not cover image burning under the warranty. While they do have programs on the TV that will "WhiteWash" the images away. I just don't want to have to worry everytime I get on my computer it I am going to burn images into my screen. Or if the whitewash will always work. I am sure this has nothing to do with SAMSUNG as much as it has to do with plasma TVs.

The picture quality isn't great. My 36in old tube television put out a better picture than this one. The remote control has to be pointed directly to the bottom right hand corner of the screen to work. Also it shuts itself off if an input device is not found, which can be

I originally bought a 47" Insignia 1080P LCD, I was content with it but couldn't shake the feeling that I was missing something. After doing a little more research I saw an online deal for this TV coupled with a surround system for $814, don't need the system but it was $30 cheaper than the tv by itself.

I now realize that the LCD's I've owned only look great compared to what I was used to. This is my first plasma and for one of the low end models the picture is much better than I was used to. Suppose it's a matter of opinion, but I'm not into scrorchinly bright vivid colors, which is where LCD's win, I prefer richer more subtle natural colors, that along with just looking more fluid and smooth this is a good set.

This is not a 1080P set like some reviewers claim. When it shows that in the upper left corner it's showing what the input signal is, not what it's being displayed as. When I set my PS3 to output blu-rays or games as 1080P thats what it shows,(likewise with 1080i

This tv was a great buy! Completely worth the price and has been amazing. I was surprised how clear the picture is. And I have yet to have any issues with it. One other thing I really like about it is how easy it is to hook it up to any other piece of technology. All of the input and outputs are clearly labeled on the back. Overall it is a great tv. I mean huge beautiful picture what more do you need?

Initially I was looking for a 1080p LCD 120Hz when I came accross this 50" Samsung Plasma. It was on sale for $799 bundled with a samsung home theater system... I thought "what a deal" So I went for it! We are more than pleased with this purchase. We don't have HD cable and after playing with the various Video, and audio settings, this tv has a pretty good picture in SD. The further away you are, the better the picture. Optimal viewing distance for a 50" 720p is at least 9.8 Ft. Streaming Netflix Via my PS3 shows the great HD Picture this tv offers. Sound from the tv alone is just fine, I don't understand why so many have issues with it. At this price point you will be able to buy more than 1 thing for Christmas :)

If you only view HD (no Wii, VHS, or standard DVD's, and your channels broadcast with HD) you should be more than happy with the picture on this unit. Be warned, standard definition provides a very poor picture. I would say much worse than a CRT TV. At its best the screen definitely has a soft, cinema-like, quality about it. If you prefer a crisp, sharp, bright picture this is not for you; buy an LCD model. Also beware, this TV is from the 400 series which is the lowest end of Samsung's plasma models. You will not get full 1080p with this TV for Blue Ray at its finest or peak resolution HD broadcast after it matures. Check Samsung's website for a comparison of the various models and what they offer before settling on this one.

Great product, Great value- I purchased this with the Samsung surround sound and it blows me away. This is a solid system that will instantly improve anyone's viewing enjoyment. At first I thought that I would be missing something with 720 however my concerns were not warranted, the picture is dynamic, the sound is awesome and the price for the combo was perfect for my budget.

For $799 this can't be beat. It's a great TV! I was hesitant to buy a plasma, but after doing online research I found that they have evolved over the years and the Samsung is rated very highly. The picture is a little grainy on non-HD channels but not enough to ruin the viewing experience. Probably would be the case on any HDTV. We love that viewing from wide angles does not affect the vivid quality of the picture (the way my friend's LCD TV does).

This was a great buy for the price, and 1 day later they added a 1000 watt Samsung Surround Sound for the same price......TV and Surround Sound for 799.00. Went back and they honored the price adjustment and gave us the surround sound also. We had all of the connections done and programming in a matter of minutes and the picture and sound have been great. For someone looking for a 50 inch and not into paying the high price this is the set for you. I am watching it from about 7-10 feet and the players during a football game look as if they are coming out of the screen at you. Take this home and you won't reqret it.

I spent weeks fretting over whether to buy plasma, lcd, or led. I saw this tv advertised for $799 with a dvd sound system and could not resist. To say the least, i have been very satisfied with purchase. When my mount arrived I wasted no time getting this thing on the wall. The sound was terrible. I went in and toyed with the audio functions on my hd cable box. I used the "narrow" range on the volume options and this helped the tv's sound drastically. I had run everything thru my stereo receiver anyway, but thought it would be a pain to have to use the stereo any time the tv was on. In my opinion this is the best buy at Bestbuy. Do yourself a favor and buy this tv, you will not regret it.

I agonized over this purchase for two weeks. I worried about plasma burn-in. I worried about not having full 1080p display. I worried about power consumption. My worries were unfounded.

This television is amazing. It is very reasonably priced. The quality of the picture is fantastic and more realistic than the LCD sets I looked at. Don't be confused by brightness when comparing pictures. The LCD sets can be brighter and the images seem to "jump" out at you, but they lack the contrast, deep blacks, dark detail and realistic colors of a good plasma tv.

Watching blu-ray, you'd never know that this wasn't 1080p. Most broadcasts are 720p anyway, so display at native resolution.

One thing that I really appreciate about this set is its ability to display non-HD content. Many sets that I saw looked great in HD, but regular definition pictures looked terrible. This television displays regular definition very well. No blocky areas in the SD picture.

As far as power

This is an excellent TV especially when you get it and a Surround Sound system w/ an up-converting DVD for $799. (sale going on thru 11/21).

At Samsungs website and some other online retailers this TV was stated as having 1024*768 resolution however here at BB.com it says 1360*768 after hooking my PC up to it I can confrim it has a 1360*768 resolution.

Also for those who don't understand the 600hz sub-field drive feature it is referring to the refresh of the cells in the Plasma screen not the vertical refresh rate of the entire screen. In other words this feature eliminates any chance of motion blur or ghosting due to a fast moving image however it draws 60 frames per second not 120 frames like some of the 120hz LCDs do. This is not really a bad thing as No media except for some PC games runs higher then 60fps anyway. The 120hz or more TVs use a feature called frame doubling to make up for lack of frames and to me this can lead to an unusual and almost nauseating look

This Tv Is wonderful I recommend it to anyone looking for a new Tv. The price is unbeatably it was only $799 the picture looks more like 1080p than 720P it also has a really slick design so if your look for a new tube check this one out!!! The only minor thing is when switching between inputs it takes a couple seconds put really its no big deal.

Okay..if you have been reading these reviews let me confirm that this TV is 1080P. You are getting a 1080P for the price of a 720. I have a 52" Samsung LCD for the Living Room which is awesome (paid $2400) but I have to admit.... my whole family agrees that the PN50B450B1D has a better picture. We are using this one for the game room/family room. The PS3 never looked better. BluRay on this TV is outstanding. Now we have two awesome TVs. I hope people read these reviews and listen closely....I repeat...1080P ! ! ! ! I wish I had another big room because for this price/value, I would buy another one.

Also, in case you are wondering, the sound quality was absolutely fine.

I agree with a couple other posters that that when switching the inputs there is a slight delay, but that is no big deal at all.

Great TV, great price. Again people...1080 P !

This was to date one of my greatest electronic purchases! I love this TV! I just got this the day the new Call of Duty 2 came out and was barely able to leave the room to go to bed! The sound is a pretty good quality especially for stock speakers. Luckily I have Dolby surround sound for picking up all the directions that shots are fired from in FPS games. I really have nothing negative to say about this TV. I already had an LCD that was good quality but this Samsung just squashes it. Even with only being 720p it is ridiculous!! I went to Bestbuy three different times in one day (Iwanted to be sure on this purchase) and Samsung always stood out from every other brand. THey say this really isnt a difference as far as stats but from the naked eye Samsung just seems to have a slight edge on the competition when it comes to their picture quality! SAMSUNG ALL the WAY!! I don't think I will ever purchase another brand when it comes to the Plasma!

I have used this for 2 months so far and have had good experience with this set. It is very clear and the contrast is nice. Don't forget about the Size....very impressive. I have not had any problems with it. There is a slight design flaw with the switching of inputs. The TV makes you wait until it initiallizes each input before allowing you to move to the next one. So if you have a cable box (HDMI), xbox(HDMI), and a computer(VGA) hooked up to the TV you cannot simply switch between them instanty. You must select the next input(above or below), wait for it to figure out if there is anything coming in on that input, and then it allows you to move to the next input. So you must wait at least 1 second before switching to the next input. Very small price to pay considering the rest of the features and the value of this TV are simply amazing.

I have the Samsung 1000W DVD/HTIB(Home Theater in a Box) that came bundled with it for $900 hooked up to the TV with an optical audio cable and

Everything about this TV is solid. Picture, Sound and Extras. Maybe another HDMI slot would be preferable but for less than 900 dollars who can beat this TV?

The TV was carefully delivered and brought all the way into the house. Set up is easy and the picture is awesome! The sound is very good. The sports channels feel like you are at the stadium. Recommend to everyone that you treat yourself and buy this product! We now watch way too much television! Thanks Samsung!

I was a bit skeptical about buying plasma and 720p. However, after watching this TV for a month, the picture is fantastic. The 50-inch screen is very nice and the color and resolution of the screen is excellent. For the price, this TV is an excellent buy. Samsung makes excellent TVs.

This is my first review on Amazon, I'm a Prime user and have been with Amazon since basically day one. That says a lot about this product. Recently my Sony Wega decided to melt on me, after ten years of being the primary television in the house. I loved that set, and was sorry to see it go. After a ton of research on a replacement, and expecting to spend at least $1200, I came across this set and it stopped me in my tracks. The cost per inch grabbed my attention at first on Amazon, along with the free shipping and zero sales tax to Florida. I noticed that the local big box had one in stock so I went to take a look, and I wasn't disappointed. That being said I don't believe the big box shops run full 1080p through their sets so mostly you will not notice the difference between a 720 or 1080 set. I was having a really hard time justifying spending anymore that $799 at this point, and something would have to blow me away in order to pass on this tv. Nothing did, so I picked it up.

I wanted a plasma 1080p 120hz. When i saw this, it caught my attention. I did some research and finally came up with a decision. I bought it.

It says 720p 600hz. I was able to get 1080p 60hz when I use my xbox and ps3. There are times that it will give you only 720p. I guess that is depending on the disc.

So far I am happy with my purchase.

By the way, I have a 42" Phillips LCD 1080p 60hz. You will not notice the difference on the picture quality.

Make sure you use a high end HDMI cable (15gbps) recommended. That is another $80 investment.

If you use a low end HDMI it will show 1080i on the xbox.

I hesitated on buying a new TV for a long time, I tried to research as best I could. I also visited Best Buy about four times before making a decision. I think that I hit a home run when I decided to spring for this TV. I don't have a large living room by any stretch of the imagination, though I suppose there technically exist even smaller living rooms. I was initially shocked by the size of the TV, thought I had gone too big, but actually it's just perfect, it's really not that big. I also use Vista Media Center (my PC is hooked up to it) and so the large screen and "modest" resolution are a great match for being able to read text from the couch (I'm typing this review from my couch using this TV). The resolution is in fact 1360x768 as stated in the Best Buy specs, Samsung's webpage is wrong 1024x768. Repeat: 1360x768 resolution. I strongly considered going two models up (1080P and stuff) but I opted on this one because it had a more computer friendly HDMI input (which was a tremendous

I have owned it two months. Great picture. However after a few weeks I noticed a bright green dot that would appear. Not large but very bright and it flickers, sort of like saying, look at me, look at me! Extremely distracting because the rest of the picture is perfect. I thought, no problem, I have a one year warranty so maybe I should wait to see if it goes away. It did not, just got worse. So I called Samsung and worked my way through the menu system. After I explained the problem, the sympathetic person assured me that this would be repaired, but then transferred me to another person to whom I had to explain everything again. So these people told me that they would contact my local Samsung repair center and that I would get a call from the service center to set up a time for the repair. But the next day I received two calls, one from Samsung technical service, and one for AT&T technical services or something like that. After being on the phone with AT&T for 40 minutes they explained

Price first off, The TV has an awesome picture and I looked for quite a few weeks and this one was, for the price mind you, the best Plasma picture I found. I like the look and lines of the unit and plenty of Inputs available. Takes to cable can't watch much TV this week cause everything they broadcast is still in 4x3 type size. But DirecTV will fix that on Saturday:)

Overall great TV for the price

Bought this on-line after seeing it in couple of big box retail stores. You can't set the picture of this TV apart from many others you'd see on the wall and that is the real point of buying it. This is a great choice for anyone looking at using this as a bedroom/living room TV (for HD cable/regular movies). I have dish network TurboHD package (HD content only) and it performs admirably. Great value over LCDs of similar size. The colors and contrast is fantastic (better than LCDs) and unlike Panasonic plasmas, the picture is a whole lot brighter(main concern for folks considering Plasmas vs LCDs). LCDs still are a lot brighter but it won't make a material difference to your TV viewing. For less than $800, it is really a steal. Outside of Blue Ray and old HDDVD movies, next to no HD content is available in 1080P. In case that changes in the next couple of years, your unused 1080P capability that you pay for today would have depreciated more than the price of this TV. You'd probably be able

I liked the first one I got so much I decided to get another one. Picture quality is much better than LCD even compared to 1080 but I don't think I would gone much bigger than 50" with a 720. I strongly believe that, in general, you get what you pay for but this is an exception. My situation is not the same as everyone but if you don't watch much TV, play video games, or have a brightly lit room for a TV, this is a no-brainer to save the money and get this 720 plasma rather than 1080 LCD. The money you save will help buy you the next technology. The first delivery of this TV was damaged - the screen was cracked so I would advise others to open the box before signing the reciept that you "received the item in good condition". I didn't have any problems returning it but I was initially concerned when looking at the delivery receipt.

Like everyone else, I read all the reviews. This was my third HD tv. My first was an 32" Akai 1080i. It lasted about 17 months and one day it wouldn't turn on anymore. I found a computer monitor repair place who fixed it (power supply) but it only lasted another 8 months. . I picked up a 32" Sanyo at Walmart for $360, but I just wasn't happy with the size. I sold it to a friend and bought this unit at Best Buy for $799, along with a $89 Inuit wall mount kit. I trucked it home myself in the back seat of a Suburban (the box is 58" long). Anyway, to make a long story short, I managed to get it up on the wall in an afternoon. Yeah, set up is easy. I've got Comcast with a DVR, so all I had to do was plug in the HDMI and the power cord. (I'll hook up the sound system later.) The TV works great. The picture is simply outstanding on some (about 10 or 12) channels, but not all. It appears there is a wide variety when it comes to quality sources. Colors are indeed rich and the shades of black are

I purchased this TV after reading all of the reviews on this site along with all on the BB web site. I was very impressed with the number of people raving about this TV. So I ordered it without even a trip to see one. No one lied, as this TV, for being a 720 versus a 1080, is outstanding in every way. I purchased it for a second TV to free up our 65 inch from the kids during football season. I have had this TV for a month now and I love it in every way. The clarity of the tuner (no cable box) and the PS3 games is phenominal. The plasma vesus my DLP is like watching an ultra clear tube TV. People say about the sound but for normal use, I have no complaints. The boys use the PS3 with the sound about 13-15. Plenty loud enough to warrant me not hooking up my old sound system. I ordered this on a Tuesday and it was in my house working by Friday lunch time. Now that may not be the rule, but I was certainly impressed. If you are looking for a nice sized TV for a living room, look no further, order

I've ordered tons of stuff from Amazon and to this point have had a good experience on orders, the only exception being a book that arrived smelling like smoke. However, that was an independent seller, so everything with Amazon as the seller had been fine. Until now. This was the worst experience I have EVER had with ANY retailer. Not only did the TV arrive with a completely shattered screen, but I was NOT contacted at all by Amazon in regards to a replacement. When I called and was finally able to get through being on hold they weren't even aware I had refused delivery. I was then informed that they would not replace my order-the order THEY had damaged. Instead I would be refunded so I could then purchase again. The reason for this? First I was told they didn't have a comparable product. That seemed bogus because it was still listed online and there were more available. When I questioned how that was possible I was subsequently told that it was because the TV wasn't sold through Amazon.

I have had this Plasma for a week and love it! You cant beat the price.
I haven't had any problem with Motion Blur like one person complained about.
I have my PS3 connected to it and the picture is great.
The only thing i would change with this tv is the sound Quality. I would recommend this plasma tv to a friend.

I have a Panasonic 720 60 hz. the picture is awesome, the sound great. After reading several reviews I purchased this Samsung. I have a 26" monitor I purchased several years ago (before HD) that has a better picture and less sports blur! I can't tell you how dissapointed I am. I guess every once in a while there is a lemon.... I'm just sorry I had to get it this time.
Lots of cool features, good sound (not great), easy to hook-up.
Good luck if you decide to buy this one.

I was all set to spend 1000 plus tax for a 46" 1080p 120Hz lcd or panasonic 50" plasma ( below X series - at sams club). I even bought a great 60hz lcd but the motion blur during football was just not acceptable and that was 5ms, so I knew it was a deal-breaker regardless of brand- thats how I jumped off of the LCD bandwagon for a split second and looked into the so-called "dead technology" of plasma. I wore myself out with the reviews here and everywhere else on the net, questioned the salespeople (3) in 2 different stores. I could not justify the difference in price ( paid 799) for any of the others i was considering. "You get what you pay for, or less" was my concern, though. Out of the box it's pic quality was stunning, especially color depth, black levels, and lack of blur (plasma!). I knew immediately that I had something here. Very little calibration needed. No problems period with image retention on any source. Did not do the 150 hr plasma breakin recommended by many online. Watch

The TV arrived with a damaged panel but it still worked. Amazon offered me $50 to keep it the way it was. I countered with $250 to roll the dice but they refused. When I asked for an exchange they told me I would have to wait as much as six months for a replacement. I asked for it to be returned. I had to box it up and take time off work to wait for the freight company to pick it up. No more TVs from Amazon.

Like other reviewers, we bought this TV at the store on sale for $799. I was told the store's sample programs were 720P, which probably explains why the picture looked no better on the 1080P sets. Nonetheless, I liked the picture on this set more than the pictures on all but the most expensive of the LCD's (outside of the Magnolia section, that is). My goal was to replace a fussy 720P MItsubishi DLP, and this set is superior in every way. The wife and kids love it - I just hope is doesn't fizzle out in three years...

Two moderate downsides are apparent. The long, narrow remote must be pointed almost directly at the lower right-hand corner of the screen to operate the TV. It also does not illuminate for easy low-light use. The sound quality of the speakers is also noticeably poor. Given the great picture and overal clean design, you are somewhat taken aback by the AM-clock-radio sound. I will be hooking this set up to some sort of receiver or powerd speaker system in the near future.

Otherwise,

Really nice looking TV. I don't see how the 1080p option would be worth the extra $$$, maybe if you are REALLY REALLY into blu-ray. Got a nice price at Best Buy ($799). I've had this set for less than a week and I would like to give it 5 stars BUT....there is some interference with my cable box and remote...in other words, when the TV is on it becomes difficult (sometimes impossible) to use my cable box remote to change channels or manipulate the DVR. I'm looking for a fix to this if anyone has had the same problem!

Picture is so much better than the specs say, this 720p TV looks better than most 1080p LCD's. the colors are amazing, the blacks are awesome, and very little glare. this is in my walkout basement that is very bright and i have to look for the glare to notice it. The touchbutton manual buttons on the TV are like the ps3's and is pretty cool. The price was awesome, 799.99 on sale at BB is awesome, an LCD with the same great picture and size is going to run you $300+ more.

Only con is motion blur. it is noticable, but I know with it being 60hz, but the blur is GREEN. The reason i didnt knock a star on picture, is due to the fact that i need to do a firmware update that came out 4 days ago and i need to finnish adjusting the settings, so if that doesnt work, will have to knock it a star, but not overall

P.s. Sound is AWESOME compared to any other TV ive heard. stereo decided to stop working and this is doing just fine on it's own.

This is a great TV, especially for families that need it for a family gathering spot. It's in our living room and everyone has a great view. Not too much clutter to confuse you-just read the quick start up guide, follow the directions, and you're done. Great picture and sound quality. And, our kids can use it without changing the settings by mistake,

I, like many others on this review, have done a lot of research about HD TVs. Plasma vs Lcd, 120 vs 240 vs 600 hz, Pansonic vs Samsung vs Sony or Sharp. I wanted the best picture quality with the best price possible. I did not want to go over $1200. After getting tired of doing countless research, I've finally concluded to buying this plasma tv. Here are my reasons to purchase this tv:

The first reason that led to my conclusion is Samsung name brand. I will not spend this kind of money on 2nd tier or 3rd tier products even though they appear to offer more for less for example the 50" plasma by Insignia. Reviews are good for this product but with second hand manufactures you'll never know when their products will die.

The second reason for me to by this plasma by Samsung is the picture quality. I could not find a difference between the 1080p model and this 720p. So I saved $300. Sure I would like to have the best resolution but purchasing the 1080p will put me past my budget

I read many reviews about countless HDTV's before I bought this one at my local Best Buy. I could not be any happier with this screen, everyone i show is entranced by the picture it produces. I am in love with the rich and deep colors produced by plasmas. I have a 40" Sony Bravia LCD thats a few years old and this new Samsung puts it to shame, seriously. Don't have any doubts that this HDTV would be perfect for you, I promise you will be more than happy!

I went to Best Buy and looked at the TV's they had on display. The Samsung had the nicest picture. I compared the price with others and found this TV to be "more bang for the buck." It has a high quality picture. I was tossed between the 1080 and the 720, but I dont have Blue Ray and my cable/satelite company is only 720 so it didn't matter much to me. Also, you really wouldn't notice the difference unless you watched the 1080 and 720 side by side.

I researched TV's for about 2 solid weeks for 6 hours a day (when I was supposed to be working)....Me and my wife weren't TV guru's by any means....my last TV was a RCA 62" projection TV which I was okay with....but we needed something that didn't take up so much space. I first picked out a Panasonic 1080p TV for around 1k. Went to the stores and watched the TV's a couple times....did more research and on the blogs where people know what they're talking about they said don't fall for the 1080p hype, the 720 is just as nice! BOY WAS I HAPPY I READ THAT! I couldn't agree more...went with the Samsung which clearly was better then the other brands......the picture is awesome! Movies on my cheap DVD player look unbelievable....but now I just purchased (after reading the blogs again) the Samsung DVD-1080p up-conversion progressive scan DVD player for 70 bucks so I can't wait to see how much better they even look!!! The only thing I will say is the sound is just okay on this TV...but I'm going

I'll preface this review by saying that I'm not the type of consumer that makes impulse purchases. I have never purchased an item that I haven't thoroughly researched for weeks, months, or even years: I read, rate and compare, and then, read, rate and compare.

If you're are going back-and-forth over plasma versus LCD then I suggest you read, rate and compare, and then think about what you want. Bottom line: If you are into sports, gaming, or care more about picture quality go with plasma. If your home has a lot of natural light and you are concerned about glaring, you're planning to display a lot of still images, or you'd prefer that your tv consume less energy, go with LCD (although, the energy thing is becoming less of a plasma detractor because companies are making them to be more energy efficient these days).

This Samsung PN-50b450 isn't my first plasma or flat-panel television. Prior to purchasing this one, I owned a Panasonic Viera TH-42px75u. My Panasonic wasn't

I have never written any reviews before, but PN30B450 deserves a review. As many others, I spent lots of time on the internet doing researches before I purchased this TV, as well as visiting many electronic shops (e.g. Costco, BB, etc.). And I ended up with this TV with some skepticism mainly because it 720p instead of 1080p. Worst case, I was planning to return it if I don't like it. I have owned two projection TVs, and I wanted to upgrade to a better TV. Since the projection TV I already own is 720p, I wanted to get me a 1080p TV. Initially I wanted to get a LCD TV since it is the trend that everyone likes, but as I spend time looking at them, the motion blurry bothered me. Even looking at 120 Hz and 240 Hz, I still saw lots or motion blurry when I watch a sport channel, and it is much more expensive compare to 60 Hz. As I researched on the internet (including avforum, CNet, Amazon, etc.), it seems plasma is better choice than LCD TV at least now. I was concerned about the power consumption

This product is amazing. Bought the TV in March and have enjoyed every minute of it. Menu's are easy to understand and use. The HDMI make everything easy to hook up and enjoy. Bought the cable HD TV package and bought a SAMSUNG dvd/home theatre package too and they are made for each other. Both Samsung units "talk" and make it that much easier to use for this simple infantryman. Sprung for the optical cable to plug in from the cable receiver to the dvd/receiver and listen to my shows with awesome sound. If you are looking to SAVE SOME CASH go with this product. You will not regret it!!!! No way you are going to tell its not 1080i and like all plasma's just be mindful of the screen burn in. I have not had any issues.

Nice picture of course. Had it delivered sometime in early June 08 or late May 08. On the Digital Transition day (June 12 2009) I noticed 3 vertical lines on the left side of the screeen. Hoping it was just a setting problem or a signal problem I switched to DVD input. No such luck. Lines still appeared. E-mailed Samsung, got no reply until a month goes by, then they give me a number to call. Call them, guy seemed willing to help but he gave me the impression that he thought I bought the TV in May of 2009. After I told him it was May of 2008 he told me that it might still be under warranty? The local service center called me and told me it would cost $530 to fix the TV. So much for that. And oh yeah, I now have 13 vertical lines running down the left side. THANKS SAMSUNG!

I just brought this set home a little over an hour ago. Weighing in a 75 pounds, this 50-inch TV is relatively lightweight and easy to haul up a flight of stairs with the help of another person. After positioning the set on the supplied stand and securing it with the screws, it was a cinch to lift onto my TV cabinet. I swapped out my old TV and simply connected the video cables to the new TV and fired it up. The swivel-stand made getting behind the TV to make the necessary connections easy as pie. Set-up took a little more than 20 minutes. The hardest part about it was taking my old CRT set down from the TV cabinet.

After sampling some of my favorite DVDs, cable TV channels in both standard-definition and HD, I am extremely impressed with this set's picture. Colors are accurate, there's practically no motion-blur, and the resolution is sharp and clear. The menu system is highly intuitive and making fine picture adjustments are simple and straight-forward.

I have seen many

I am so happy with my decision to go with this set over some other higher priced options. I don't miss my Sony 1080p set at all. If you're watching TV and not blu-ray/ps3, you'll never notice the resolution difference. Most bang for the buck by far...

This is my first flat screen HD tv. Have used a tube flatscreen before and coming from a 30" tv, this is amazing. From pic quality, controls and all features, this is a steal. Paid 900 and this deal was unsurpassed. We have had this tv running everyday for about a week now, way better than LCD. Cant tell the difference between the 720 & 1080, so why pay more for 1080. We have Comcast HD and the quality of HD and non HD channels is amazing. Its a huge change for me and I am so happy that I bought the Samsung. Also I have the samsung home theater and the hdmi-cec anynet works wonderful. No regrets on this buy folks.. definately worth my research adn worth every penny!!!...

I would almost guarantee that BestBuy could sell this TV as a 1080P and 99% of people would never know...in fact, I have read professional reviews that say the same thing. When I was at BestBuy watching a in-house broadcast at 1080P 1 ft from the screen I couldn't see a difference between the 720P and the 1080P...at least for Samsung. I did notice a quality difference between Samsung and other major brands, as in Samsung plasmas just flat out had a better picture.

And if something goes wrong with the TV, I got the black-tie protection thrown-in to cover me for at least 4-years. You can pay more for a TV but it will be hard to trick your mind into justifying why.

$1134 including taxes and 4yr Geek Squad Black Tie in house warranty. This is a steal folks! You have to destroy the box when you get it home to get to it. Set up is quick...did everything myself. I bumped up the sharpness and brightness and I was done. I am using a Scientific America cable box to get HD. I had a slight problem with getting the universal remote to work on everything...slept on it, got up in the morning and actually read the owners manual...all is fine. Duh! Overall, HD is phenomial...ESPN is painfully perfect. The picture is relaxing and accurate...this HDTV enjoys what it is designed to do. 1080i is for people who have more money then I to throw away. 720 w/ 600hz is more then enough. The 18-month no interest is another MAJOR selling point. My family is happy with this purchase and I hope your's will be also! Buy it!!!!!

Let me first say that this is my third Samsung TV to receive from Best Buy in the last two weeks. The first two were the 430 model of the 50" Plasma.

The first one I bought had a single dead pixel and at the advice of family and friends I returned it with the thought that worse things were yet to come.

The replacement I was given was another 430 model. I opened this one up and the sound that came from it sounded like an overheating breakerbox. The bottom right side of the frame was bent, and the sound did not work properly.

After the two 430's, the manager upgraded me to this 450 model. I took it home, opened the box only to find that the screen was broken.

Tomorrow I will return this TV and try to obtain a fourth Samsung. I have not been impressed at all with the quality of these TV's.

I am not saying my experience is typical with Samsung TV's, but I am saying that you should think twice before buying or investing in either the 450 or 430 model.

I

I was a little worried about not going with 1080p at first, but once we statrting watching the tv all regrets went away. The picture is clear and the colors are great. Like to ability to expand with all the inputs. We really like the fact that you do not see any of the bottons on the tv... very sleek looking tv. Very happy.

I have had this product for about a month now and I am completely satisfied. Picked this baby up for only $797! Yes, $797! An unknown competitor had the TV on sale for the price, I would not pay face value purely due to my frugleness.

This is the first HDTV I bought, and I purchased it because it was the very TV a friend of mine who is a Best Buy employee owns. The Plasma Video quality with no delay is absolutely amazing. Black levels are extremly black, touch of red color is a big plus, have not had any "Burn In" and Ive uced my TV with high contrast and brightness the entire time. Burn in is a thing of the past for Plasmas, and with geek squad they have you covered if there was a fluke. Glare is nonexistant.

I use my TV mostly for playing my Xbox 360 games and wathcing movies. This is the absolute best new HDTV for the money, guaranteed. You wont find a better quality for the money.

Soud level is good but could be better. I like to feel the sound and bass when

I purchased this tv on sale for under $1200 with 4 year warrenty. Blu-Ray looks fantastic with this television. This TV accepts the 1080p signal and downconverts it to 720p, but if i told people that you are looking at a 1080p picture they will beleive you, the clarity of HD is amazing. It also accepts the 24p film motion as well, for cinema like video. The 600hz is not to be confused with 120hz like lcd has. The 600hz only means that there are more subfields which makes the colors more smooth and accurate. Standard definition looks better than average. PLEASE NOTE - ALL PLASMA CAN BURN IN EASILY WITHIN THE FIRST 150 HOURS. So let it break in before you play video games, watch wide screen movies with the black bars, and calibration. The sound is ave. for the most part. But this is the best TV on the market..dont waste your money on 1080p sets....trust me you will not see a difference btwn the Plasma dsplays.

I'd like to share my thought of process in buying this TV. First, I wanted at least 46" for viewing at 10' under $1300. My first choice was LCD with 1080P of course since it seems like everyone is going toward the LCD. I primarily watch sport and movie, not really plan for gaming. From reading from many resources (Amazon's user review, [...].), watching at different stores (Fry's, Bestbuy, Sears) in more than 10 visits, I concluded that plasma is better way to go in many reasons. From my eyes, I think plasma produces a better picture quality than LCD. Image quality from plasma looks more natural and not flat (don't know how to explain). Comparing color, plasma generates better skin tone (in photography or flesh tone in (probably) videography???) and a lot cheaper. I was worried about power consumption and dimmer picture comparing to LCD (when viewing in stores). Both of them are not really major issues at all at home. First I tried to find that how much it's gonna cost me for watching

With the purchase of this TV at $500-$600 dollars cheaper then 1080p 50 inch not only was there no noticable difference in picture quality, but the money savings bought a great home theater system!! I am so happy with this purchase, and love the ability to use my lap top with this TV. I will certainly look to Samsung on my next purchase what a great deal this has been for me and my family, and the Samsung blu-ray players steps the quality up another notch........ONE HAPPY CUSTOMER!!

First off let me say Plasmas are much better picture than LCDs but yes they do consume more electricity than any 50" LCD. I compare the newest Viera 600hz and this side by side (actually two 600hz Vieras and this one). This one is clearly better picture. The Panasonic 720 and this 720P are actually higher than what is advertised. They are actually not 720p, 1280x720 but 768P or 1366 x 768. "Brief Notes": * Of what is not true anymore: At 600hz, this is faster than even the newer generation of LCDs so retail store use to push LCDs (esp. gamers) since the refresh rating. * Burn in is not so much a factor any more. The screen saver kicks in early and Samsung has better technology to counterbalance the burn in effect that was in older generations. The 720p Viera X1 Series. * TC-P50X1 clearly shows blacks better but not quality of picture. The X1 does not have that good of rating as you see from Amazon and other review sites. If you have the money for a 1080p than go for it but I would go

I have been holding off on buying an HD tv for years now. Finally I had some room on my BB card and they had a 3 yr same as cash financing deal that I couldn't pass up. I had been looking into getting a 42" Panasonic but then I saw this 50" Samsung and that was it for me. You can't find anything this good at this price. The picture is amazing; I watch a lot of sports and the picture clarity is so good that it feels like you're right there on the field / court. I can't imagine that the picture for a 1080p could be that much better to justify spending an additional 300 - 400 dollars. I'm very happy with this TV.

Like most people I will say that the ONLY 'bad' thing about the TV is the speakers; they're kind of weak. But I've got surround sound so I won't really be using them anyway.

Wow, Samsung has really made the BEST, picture perfect 50" plasma tv out on the market so far. The sound and quality is more precise than any other item any company has made so far. No doubt this is the best tv yet, 5 stars( 6 stars if possible ).

I just got this TV yesterday and I'm are still in shock! It is truly amazing! I don't even have HD programing for it and I'm almost afraid to get it because the SD programing (from DirecTv) is such an awesome picture. I mean how much shock can I take, lol. It takes less than 5 minutes to set up and the only adjustment I have made so far is to turn the color down a little because the reds were so red they hurt my eyes! The sound is perfectly fine and I feel no need for a surround sound setup. I love the remote too, but since I have a DirecTV remote I don't even need it except to adjust settings on the TV. The size of this TV is perfect if not almost too big although I'm sure I'll get used to, lol. I watched a movie last night and could almost count the individual hairs on peoples heads. I sit about 11 feet from the tv. Amazing, just amazing. Delivery was even two days early and the man brought the TV in, unwrapped it and discarded the box. He set it up where I wanted it and even

First let me say that I own a Samsung 40" LCD 1080p, and I am very happy with that one and really like Samsung for home electronics. I found this deal from a Google search because Fry's had the PN50B450 on sale for 1,099.00. I found it cheaper through Google shopping at Best Buy. Though we had some very questionable service at best buy (make sure they don't set the plasma it on it's side, they know better!). This TV is just a great TV. I am viewing HD Clear QAM channels through the basic cable line and they look AWESOME. The only thing I ran into is the HDMI ports require the cable to be HDMI 1.3, so my DVD player has yet to work because I have to get a new cable. It says this in the manual though, so I wasn't alarmed. I looked for reviews like this, and I especially liked the one from the guy who used to install Home Theater Systems. This is a great TV and if you can find it at a good price, buy it!

The overall design is great, the 360 spin so i can turn it toward me on other side of the room, i love changing screen sizes. The on, off, volume, ect. button on the tv itself are pretty cool, you just touch them not even press them and they work. I like all the outputs. Games look amazing! And again HD looks the best!

Taking the plunge into HDTV from a CRT, I'm mostly pleased, and with decently-transferred DVDs the image quality is what I was hoping for -- a viable home theater. I made the mistake of making the Planet Earth DVDs the first thing I played. They almost looked better on my old CRT, and I was crestfallen that I'd just thrown away $900, but putting on a few other DVDs showed it to be a DVD issue, not the TV (I'm running a progressive scan DVD player with component cables directly to the TV). I'm also running Yamaha's entry-level receiver, HTR-5830, and unfortunately I'm noticing a little lip-sync issue. The next one up, HTR-5840, has lip-sync correction. One area that was a huge improvement from CRT was with the XBox 360. Really impressive. So to those making the move into HDTV for the first time, be aware of factors that will make it a less-than-ideal experience, but it's a great TV for the price and in the right circumstances. Update---------------------------- Not having bought a

The Samsung PN59b450 50 inch plasma HDTV is a very good buy. Extremely fast shipment. The picture on this set is very bright and clear. The B model runs much more cooler than the A model. This 50 inch plasma runs even runs cooler than my 37 inch LCD. All in all was a very good purchased and worth the price.

I think Plasma is better because you can see images from any angle. However, stay away from the Samsung line because, after less than 30 days, you will get an image burn regardeless if you play games or if you watch regular TV. I speak from experience. I bought Samsung PN50B450 50-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV because it had the best picture in the Best Buy store for the price. Well, after 20 days, the screen had started to get the burn-in. I called Best Buy, they came out and said they couldn't do anything because Samsung won't authorize a replacement. I called Samsung. Their tech came out and said the same thing. It's written in the warranty that screen Burn-In is not covered. I understand that, but after 20 days? How about repairing the TV? Samsung tech said I'm stuck with the TV and this problem.
