Excellent camera for the price. I will have to replace it because the display cracked from a thoughtless misuse. It's nice and small. The picture quality is very good. It's pretty easy to use, but it takes some navigation and you should get familar with the camera before you take it out for serious use. It fires up fairly quickly in bright light, but takes a few seconds to charge the flash in lower light conditions slowing down the first shot time when using indoors
Lots of great features, and the display is quite visible even in bright light. Time between shots is pretty good for a camera at this price point. It takes AA batteries and Alkalines last about 100 pictures, not the best, but they are readily available and cheap. I've had kodak cameras in the past, but would not hesitate to replace this with another Samsung. Great camera to throw in the purse or car.

Purchased this camera just before going on vacation. I was a little worried about response time from clicking the button to taking a picture because of past cameras. I have been impressed with other Samsung products, so I decided to give it a try. So far I have been impressed. The response time has been great. The exception to this is when using the flash or digital image stabilization. Both of these features can cause a delay. Otherwise it is quick to capture the picture and then the screen stays blank while it processes. This is better than some of my other cameras that blanked the screen before capture. I have been very impressed with the image quality in well lighted areas. With the flash, indoors works well with the tendency to blur, and that is why the image stabilization is nice. So in the end it has some of the same problems as other digital cameras(blurred low light pictures), yet it also has the options(flash and image stabilization) to overcome these problems if you

I love samsung, kind of a loyalist ever since I got into a plasma tv from them. I wanted to buy a samsung camera that was small enough to be portable and powerful enough not to let me down. I liked the features on the outside of the box and it was cheap, I had only hoped the thing would be easy to use (powershot was a nightmare, and same with my fujifilm finepix). The menu system is pure genius and you can get to what you need very quickly. Battery life is "ok" considering how much this thing does and how great the pictures turn out. I bought a 2 gig card to go with it. My favorite feature is actually the video recording, it does this in VGA and at 30FPS! I then hooked the camera up to my Playstation 3 and it recognized it immediately and I played the videos right off of it! Awesome camera for the price. Samsung- you rock my world.

The manual that comes with the sl30 recommends Alkaline batteries or rechargeable Ni-MH batteries. I have found that, no matter which type you use, this camera goes through batteries much more quickly than my previous point and shoot, the Canon Powershot A95. I believe the problem is in the design. The Powershot used 4 AA cells and had a smaller display, and the Samsung sl30, with a larger display, uses only two AA cells. This design choice kept the camera compact and light. But I think Samsung was somewhat disingenuous in making the calculated decision to get the consumer in the door with the sexiness of this little camera, and then leave them holding the bag when it comes to the most routine aspect of ownership/upkeep. Whereas I was able to take the Canon along for a nine hour day at Disneyland this summer and never give a second thought about battery life, the Samsung sl30 has depleted one of it's three bars indicating battery power left just in casual (not constant) shooting around

I actually picked this camera up for free with Chase credit card reward points. It's a nice camera for the price range it fits into. Takes good quality pictures and video is surprisingly decent as well. There are a couple of downsides for me: 1. Image stabilization doesn't seem to work with the flash. You can't use both at the same time as far as I can tell. I have very shaky hands so if I need the flash I just have to concentrate and take a deep breath before I shoot. 2. As others have said, it sucks your battery dry very quickly, so I would use rechargeables if possible, or at least always have a spare set with you. Nothing is worse than having your camera batteries die when you need it the most (I am an avid angler, so this has happened to me too many times lol). I hesitated on choosing this camera because the specs do say it doesn't work with 64 bit Vista. I however have had no problem transferring pictures or videos to my 64 bit OS computer. I'm not sure why it would work for me

The Samsung SL30 may be the perfect match for some customers but I am very sorry I bought it. It is incompatible with a 64 bit operating system and that means I cannot transfer pix to either of my computers. That makes it pretty useless to me. This severe limitation is not mentioned in any advertising materials I have seen but it is clearly described in the owner's manual. Sadly, to read it in the owner's manual means you already own the camera.

I recently bought this camera and I'm amazed at the quality of pictures it takes. They are simply amazing. The camera is easy to use and transfer to the computer is a cinch. I love the different scenes and modes the camera has and the price was lower than some other cameras that didn't offer the scenes. I would recommend this camera for anyone. The camera does use a lot of batteries if you use the review feature a lot, but it isn't a problem for me because the picture quality is worth it.

If you can get past the battery usage factor, you will love this camera! I bought it after reading good reviews elsewhere (it had just been released and there were no amazon.com reviews at that time). I wanted something reasonable (but better than a kiddie camera) for my soon-to-be 6 year old niece. She took the camera everywhere during a trip to Washington, DC and was able to operate it with ease (although she never quite got the concept of the zoom...but that didn't matter to her).

What is good about this camera is you can set the program to eliminate "shake" or motion from the picture. If you accidentally moved the camera while taking a photo, it corrects the picture before saving it. This is simply amazing. Using this function resulted in superb pictures every time. When I decided that this function was consuming too much of the battery life, I turned it off, but after a couple of photos it was clear that it improves the photo even when you think you have a pretty steady hand...so
