I tried Beats (Monster), Shure and Denon trying to find an in-ear headphone as good as the Bose (because the Bose falls out easily). To me, this one is as good as Bose or very close to it whereas Beats, Shure and Denon were not even close--and at $150 each they were all $50 more than Bose! Don't even bother with those 3 brands. This one by Sony is $20 less than Bose and is comparable quality.

These headphones actually sound pretty good, but I wanted to make sure everybody knew that the advertised "frequency range" specifications are completely false. I believe that because the specs are wrong on Sony's own website, that this information has been repeated on all others. I'm not sure if Sony is aware of this misinformation themselves, so I took the liberty of writing a review on the Sony Website as well. The online specifications for the "frequency range" (sound range output) states that these headphones can output at 4hz to 28Khz. This is wrong. This model's actual frequency range (as stated on the actual box it came in) is 5hz to 24Khz. This is a huge difference in numbers, and I think it's very unethical for Sony to put false information for it's product. I bought these headphones to upgrade from my Sony MDR-EX75 headphones. The MDR-EX75 were rated at 6hz - 24 khz... almost identical to these new MDR-EX300. And because the MDR-EX75 are much cheaper (with virtually the

Great Headphones for about 6 weeks.
After that don't even bother, the left ear went out on my first pair and then the right on the second.
If you want to every 6 weeks get new ones get them, if not go get something else.

These are the earbuds that I am currently using for my Sony X-Series Walkman. In the past, I have used the Sennheiser CX-500s, Klipsch Image S4, and now these. I love these the most because of the excellent design (I like how it goes behind the neck), Amazing sound quality (crisp highs mixed with solid lows and mids), and the cord adjuster which makes the cord length perfect for when I am outside. Also, these buds are very comfortable and block out external noise significantly, although they are not noise-isolating earbuds. I find that these earbuds present music the way it is supposed to be heard. In comparison with the Klipsch S4's, the MDR-EX300s can still produce detailed highs when turned up to high volumes, due to their large 13.5mm drivers. I found that the S4's highs sounded tinny when turned up at high volumes, probably because the buds could not handle it with its drivers. The Sennheiser CX-500s I found to have too much base and not enough detailed highs. The Sony MDR-EX300s provide

I've owned and used the Sony EX51s, 71s, 75s, and now the 300s, and these are by far the best of them all. The larger bass drivers make a huge difference in the sound, and the dynamic range overall is much better than anything I've heard before, even with traditional over-the-ear headphones. Even with the drivers, these earbuds fit snugly and unobtrusively in your ears, and while they will try to fall out if you're working out and sweating, it's easy to just push them back in. Some people dislike the cords, which are made so that the cord to the right earbud goes around the back of your neck. They are not supposed to hang down in front like the traditional stock iPod phones. That's why the left cord is so much shorter than the right cord. The idea is that you can remove the earbuds from your ears (for a conversation, for example) without having them fall off, and also if one of them slides out of your ear, it won't fall off. If you prefer the original iPod cord design, stick with

the cord is short on one side because it's supposed to go behind your neck. I baught the vmoda for 50.00 and returned them to get thes. The bass hit's a little harder on the vmoda but the sound quality is not as good. These have great bass and great clear sound. Perfect for work.

Absolutely terrific sound, however, the cord is enough to drive you crazy. Instead of using a format that had nothing wrong with it (ie, what the stock iPod ear buds use) Sony "daisy chained" the leads. The line coming from the device goes into a "Y" approximately 5 inches from the Left bud. Then, another 18 inch lead branches off to the Right bud. This proves to be a HUGE pain if you snag the cord on anything (and you will) causing the left bud to yank right out of your ear. Despite the great sound, I have come close to returning these for this reason alone. There's no question that these ear buds are of much higher quality than the stock iPod version, however, the cord may drive you to drinking.

Yes, left ear went out today, had them about 4 months.
Comfort - about the same as any I have used
Sound - I did not see much of an improvement in sound over a $20 pair
Bass was ok

These headphones may be a bit on the spendy side, but I think they are worth it. The sound quality is very clear, full, and luscious. I agree with the other reviews, in that, you don't have to have the volume very high at all to enjoy your music, due to their excellent sound clarity. It also helps that the (comfortable!) silicone buds fit snuggly in the ear, blocking out at least 85% ambient noise. I also like the silicone wires since they are less prone to tangling than other headset cords I've seen. However, I'm not crazy about the chintzy carrying case they came with. The buds don't fit securely in the plastic mold/tray and fall out when you try to wrap the cord around it. And if you want to keep the shortening device on the wire, it won't fit back into the case (LAME design)! I just carefully coil them up without the tray and just put them "loose" in the Velcro pouch. Overall, I am very pleased with these headphones and would recommend them to a friend.

First I bought a pair of Altec Lansing BackBeat Pro's which were $8 more. They were very uncomfortable and kept popping out of my ears and sound quality was about as good as a pair of $20 buds. Returned those and got a pair of these, right away there's a HUGE difference. Very comfortable to wear, very rich sounding audio, and a good cord length. Would highly recommend these.

I love these headphones. The bass is incredible. The sound quality is out of this world. The cord is a little short for me. I am 6'2" and when i walk with these in my pocket, they almost fall out of my ears because the cord rips them out of my ears. Other than that, they have great sound reduction, and it comes with a carrying case.

I have had these headphones for about 4 months now and i have enjoyed them very much. These headphones by far have the best sound quality that i have heard in the sub 100 price range. Instead of the shrilling highs or boomy bass that many headphones have the sonys have a balanced sound. if you are looking for loud and boomy bass these are not for you. instead they have a balanced sound and tight bass that isnt artificially enhanced or changed. in other words your music sounds the way it was meant to sound.
The only problems i see in these headphones is that the cable is very thin and could be prone to breaking in the long run. Also the asymmetrical cable lengths could bother some people and make them hard to wrap up and store.

i've owned other sony in-ear headphones and the quality has never let me down. but with these, i was in for a nice supprise. they gave me the shivers really. absolutely full sound!!! dont miss out on these headphones. moderately priced!!! ive tried bose and some other $100 ones that blasted my eardrums with highs (yes earbuds were the right size) anyway these are just amazing. im so happy!! finally. These things are choice.

These are disappointing. I can't reccomend anything else but I can say don't buy these. Bob Dylan sounds like he's playing guitar through a telephone. The sound is tinny with a high treble, even with the I-Pod set to bass boost. No midrange at all and the bass is hardly recognizable. I'm returning mine and trying something else, especially at this price.

Best bang-for-the-buck headphones out there, in my opinion. As some previous reviewers noted, the highs can be a bit overwhelming for some. I eq the treble down a tad. The large drivers really help with the lows. Very comfortable headphones too!

I have had the Sony MDR-EX-300/BLK for about 2-weeks and very happy with them. I got them at Best Buy on sale for $56. My cat chewed up my V-moda ear buds right before a long plane flight. The Sony buds had a few good reviews and I had to have my music for the flight. For ear buds they are very comfortable. I use sound reducing ear muffs to reduce the plane noise over my ear buds. This is a cheap way to get noise reduction. The problem is they are not very comfortable. I found the MDR-EX-300 did a good job of noise reduction and I did not have to use sound ear muffs. One thing I have found with my V-moda and other ear buds I have used, the rubber piece that goes in your ear falls off easy and I have lost several. On the Sony's they have a very tight fit and will not fall off. They are actually a little hard to change for a different size - but that is better than too loose. My ears are a little burned out with too much load Rock & Roll. But I find the sound to be very good for the price.

I couldn't have asked for a better set of 'phones. I paid the same price for my last pair, which was also by Sony. It's my first experience with the in-ear versus ear-bud style phones, but I have to say that for the price that I paid this is still an excellent deal! Couldn't be any happier. Not my first pair of Sony headphones but definitely my most favorite.

I haven't ever spent more than maybe $35 or so on a pair of in-ear headphones before. But when my iPod headphones bit the dust, I decided to see what was out there. These are magnificent headphones. The audio quality is easily the best I've heard out of all of the in-ear headphones I've ever had. Bass is clear and strong, and the high end is not tinny or distorted like on some lower end headphones. Even with the volume high, the clarity is amazing. They come with three different sized silicone rubber earbuds, a "cord adjuster" which allows you to change the effective length of the cord for your needs, and a nice nylon/velcro carrying case with an insert that allows you to tie up the cords neatly. The description says it's a leather carrying case, but there's only a small tiny portion of it that is made of leather, a strip less than 2 sq. in. in size that has the Sony logo on it. Looks nice, but has no useful value other than aesthetics. The vast majority of the case is nylon. But that's

I have tried 6 different headphone in the last 3 days, Bose In-Ear, Shure SE115-K, Sony MDREX85LP/B, Sony MDRAS40EX, Apple In-Ear, and this one... I'm amazed of the sound of the bass and the overall comfort of this earphones, I have never experienced something like this. The sound is A LOT better than all of them except by the Bose which have pretty much the same sound, I couldn't hear the difference, but the Bose don't stay in my ears and this one stay VERY GOOD, actually them been an "in ear" headphones I didn't loose any bass sound just put them on my ears, I didn't need to stick them in to hear for hearing the bass which made them a lot more comfortable to wear....

The 3 sizes of ear buds should fit most quite comfortably and provide a great deal of isolation from outside noises. The high output provides great dynamic range with punchy, tight bass. The only downside, at least for easy on the go storage, is that the right ear bud cord is about 10 inches longer than the right. It makes winding them around something evenly a little challenging These are studio style buds tho, so it does help keep the cord out of the way to one side while listening.

These are one of the best headphones I have ever owned. They provide unintended noise cancellation while also being comfortable to wear for in-ear earbuds. These earbuds are unintrusive as some others may be and provide stella sound quality. Buyers will find detail in their music that cannot be found with stock headphones.
Some issues that I may have in the future is the cable thickness. These aren't very thick (compared to shure headphones) and may be prone to breaking in the future. These headphones are not for those who are on a budget as they will cost you $80.00 (from this review), but for the sound quality, they are worth it.

I just purchased this product at a local BestBuy store. The store selection was pretty limited. But I spotted this Sony product and was told it was "New" on the market. I was looking for comfortable, high performing in-ear headphones without noise cancellation feature or other expensive bells and whistles. I checked out the tech specs. The superior frequency response - 5Hz-24 kHz - provides faithful sound reproduction. And with 105 bD sensitivity the sound is powerful. No need for an extra base feature - there's base enough. The 13.55mm driver and neodymium magnet top off a great product. I recommend it highly.

Being in the radio/recording field I am very particular to sound quality. Let me first say, that everyone's ears are different and what sounds excellent to me, might sound different to someone else. I am not bragging, but have been told that my ears are very sensitive and can pinpoint many quality sounds, that others cannot. I guess this might be true, as several radio stations have retained me to fine tune their on-air processing, since my ears have that keene sense of sound quality.
In any event, I have the Sony EX90LP headphones which I have always thought were very good for the price. Very loud sound pressure, good quality high end, a fair amount of base, and a great price. Obviously, not studio headphones, but for I-Pods, Walkman's, not bad.
I decided to try the MDR-EX-300/BLK and I must say, at least to my ears, a big difference, especially in the low end. The bass is more pronounced with more depth. The high end on the other hand, is almost too high. I had to lower my EQ
