Purchase this item so I could play my digital files (movies, music) on my TV and home teather, and love it, so easy to use, you could connect any flashdrive or even your ipod and i'll play almost any type of files. Great product

I love this piece of electronics.. I enjoy movies so right now I have almost 600 movies on my harddrive which is also western digital.. both are hooked up to the TV.. so easy to use .. depending on the quality of movie the picture is great.. Now I just need to learn how to put more on my hard drive.. I am hooked now..

This is the best thing I ever bought. I bought one for my mom and take over new stuff via a hard drive for her. Just plug it in the USB port and she's going. I first bought one for my house, and just carried it back and forth from the living room TV to the bedroom TV as needed. It is super easy to plug up and play. Just bought a second one for the LR TV, as I find I use the thing so much. So this is my 3rd unit.
It is definitely worth the money. I have a hard drive full of movies, and series episodes that are just so easy to load on a portable hard drive and take to the TV. Plug it up, and you're going. And if you stop it in the middle of a movie, it will remember where you left off the next time. It has turned into a gadget I can't live without now.

The WD TV media player for USB was a breeze to install without instructions. The options in the menu are fairly self-explainatary.

Great so far 4 storing movies! We loved our son-in-law's "hook up", so he recommended this. He installed it, hooked it up to our surround sound, TV, and we love it! No more digging for DVD's!

good gadget!!...it can play almost all type video codec from my hard disk.
Unfortunately this product has no video component output or VGA output for my old projector which is capable to display High Definition too.

It's true this is a very good player for the money though it does have buggy issues as many have reported. Too bad western digital has not released a firmware version yet to fix these problems. once they do this will be a hard to beat player since it can do ALMOST everything you would want it to do. Seems there are two types now: with and w/o hard drive. those with HDD like the Mediagate or Popcorn hour are a good choice. those w/o hard drives like the WD TV, IOMEGA Screenplay are good too but you have to attach some sort of external usb storage anyway. So choose wisely. If you are looking for something that may be better than the WD TV, search for this: "Mediagate MG-M2TV". this is the newest player from Mediagate which can do everything the WD TV can but actually supports more formats like RMVB (real video) for many Asian videos. so this is one item i'm really looking forward to. hoping the reviews are good on this one.

Update! the Medigate MG-M2tv is a turning out to be a great player! Looks like Mediagate just released a Korean language firmware too for the MG-M2TV. found the link on xpcgear.com http://www.xpcgear.com/mediagate-mg-m2tv-korean-rmvb-player-hdmi.html
