I've been a PC guy my whole life. I briefly owned an iBook with OS 10.3 Panther and I hated it. I was a bit reluctant to buy another Mac but I've had about enough of Windows Vista.
I had been using a Sony VAIO with Vista for about a year before it started giving me guff. Certain music production applications (Ableton Live and Reason) would stall on start up and it would take me 3-5 time of ending the task and restarting the app before I could getting it running properly. These two programs were the only ones that had this issue. I tried reinstalling the programs but that solved nothing. I also had issues with a couple of the MS updates, IE updates and a .NET update would not install. After contacting MS tech support, they prescribed a complete Vista reinstall as a remedy. I thought that was a bit much just to install a couple of updates. These issues along with Vista's sluggish performance convinced me to give OS X another try.

The computer is what it is supposed to be in terms of quality and efficiency. However, Amazon dropped the price $175.00 3 weeks after my purchase and refused to make the difference up. In the words of the rep, you pay what you pay, there is no price match, even if it is from out own store. I won't lose any hair over this.......and Bezos has no hair to lose....so, back to my life.

The macbook is a decent computer, but the lack of firewire or STANDARD display ports does not meet anyones standards. Plus, the computer gets hot after a while.

this laptop is so convenient. the trackpad is one of the best features for it makes navigating around the web and applications so easy, smoothly, and fast. it has so many fun aspects to it but it is also perfect for a business and school. it makes everything easier and more pleasant. buy it.

Macbook its perfect. I went through 2 other laptops (Asus A20, Asus G50) before finally saying nothing can replace a Mac. Now that i have my mac i have totally forgotten why i even thought you could replace a mac with a PC. It has a great interface very sleek and clean. The keyboard is easy too use and looks really good w/black on silver. The screen quality is definitely an upgrade from the previous macbook so i like it a lot more. IDK everything about this mac is just better than the PC's that i tried to use.
*ready too use out of the box (would recommend running the software update application though right away.)
*clean sleek interface
*small yet not tiny
*great battery life i mean at 82% i'm showing 2:55 min of battery life left
*comes with free music&movie mixing software that could cost hundreds on a PC

I owned a Mac Book Air before this one, and I am amazed how this computer runs. The Mac Book Air over heated and made my programs run so slow. This was my first mac, and I thought I would give Apple another try so I went with their lower end one, and WOW! I am sticking with Mac for ever!!

The Apple MacBook MB467 is a wonderful product and so 'right' in many ways. However, it's shortcomings are significant. The continual glare from the screen is a constant distraction. The other bothersome issue I have with the unit is the lack of USB ports. It comes with 2 and one is typically dedicated to the wireless mouse. A major oversight by Apple.

I use a PC at work and our last family computer was an ibook. I really enjoy my work PC but want something more at home. When the ibook died after 5 years of heavy use, I looked at a number of laptops to replace it, including PC laptops, particularly the HP and Sony models, which seemed to be the best made of the PC group. After all, now that Macs have Intel chips in them, it literally is like comparing apples to (non) apples. However, I could never persuade myself to purchase those machines after testing and holding a macbook. They are a superior product from a design standpoint and the superior design should lead to increased durability. So, although they cost more up front, the macbooks give the user more value in terms of durability and performance. Next time our family needs a computer, like separate ones for the kids when they get in school, I will probably be tempted to buy a netbook. I think they show great promise, once they figure out the form factor and performance is up to par.

Made the mistake of buying first version of Unibody Macbook. No firewire, no SD Card slot, absolutely horrible display! New ones have been released now which have a better display, firewire and SD Card Slot. Just what I needed, but too late. The horrible display ruins the entire experience. I would rather use my old Sony Vaio, which has a clear, sharp display and is a pleasure to use, except for the fact that it doesn't have OSX for an operating system. Maybe someone will buy it on ebay, I hope.

First off, I think apple really thought about "little things" that a lap-top user wants. The aluminum body keeps clean, battery life is long, full support system, even the charger is magnetic. It's filled with a bunch of little things that make life much easier. I was really nervous about switching to a mac, but I have no regrets. It is so much easier than a PC. I love it! I am NEVER going back. EVER. It was expensive, but I'm going to college this fall, and I needed a high quality computer. We've had Dells and HP's, compared to my mac they are AWFUL. I will never, ever, buy another PC...EVER. My mac changed my life <3
I'm obsessed.

The Mac Book is light and portable. The touch pad makes it easy to move through the apps, files and the browser. Nobody does it better. The disadvantage is that I can't keep my daughter off of it, even though she has her own, (PC). The wireless connection lets me be in the living room with the rest of the family.

I've been a PC user since 1995, and always wanted to buy a Mac. This past May, I finally bought one and let me tell you, I will never go back to a PC! I love this machine. It was very easy to use and set itself up.
I can't believe I went so long without a Mac. It has made my life so much easier, and I love that you can run Windows software on a Mac if you need to, but I don't think I'll need to because all the software I need is also made for Mac.

As a former pc user, it was daunting to take the plunge and go Mac. This is my first laptop and my first Mac. It is an absolute delight to use. For those of you considering one, do your homework, and then just do it. Students/school employees should know there is an education discount available through the Apple store. There are also some great incentives (like a free IPhone or iPod) so look here, buy there!

this laptop is the greatest thing ever. If you are thinking on purchasing this laptop. you wouldn't be making a mistake. the graphics are so clear, and you wouldn't imagine how fast this computer is. I would recommend this computer for any one who will be going to college.

I purchased my laptop from Amazon in February 2009. Although iLife '09 was announced in January 2009, my laptop was still shipped with the old version. The upgrade costs an extra $80. If you purchase your laptop directly from Apple then it only costs $10 for the upgrade. Just something to be aware of.

I used to have a Dell M1210 but it was to small although it was portable it was too heavy. Anyway I went to Best Buy and brought a MacBook! I was so excited as I am using it for school and all my classmates have a mac. When I got home i set it up and the first boot is much easier than windows as on a mac leopard first starts up by asking your name, apple id and then it boots up leopard and off you go! It is super fast, reliable and worth every penny. The screen is glossy and it looks stylish with the black edging around the side of the screen. Good screen resolution and would get the same screen as a monitor. The keys on the keyboard are well spaced and you get used to them fast. The mousepad is amazing with its multi-touch gestures and after a day or two I got used to them. There are lots of keyboard shortcuts that lets you have easier access and all printer drivers are pre-installed! I have purchased Need for Speed Carbon from the apple store and works fantastic on my laptop. If you are

After having a dell xps m1530, and then switching to the mac book, the most noticeable difference is the fact that i leave my home, with only the MacBook, no wires, no charger, no chords no cables not even my wireless mouse. I just slide it in a very small umbro bag. The size and weight plus the battery life, makes it so convenient to carry to basically anywhere. I get 4 - 5 hrs straight from my macbook, more than enough time to be away from an area with an electrical outlet. The track pad, is not only for use, but to play. The multi-functionality of the track pad, makes work look like play. Zooming, scrolling, switching between windows or applications, rotating pictures to name a few, all done by sliding your finger or a combination of fingers on the track pad. The screen/display is stunning. We took for granted the fact that we remain seated around the table watching a movie: and the table was round. It is only after a while my friend observed that normally we would have to get

A beautiful and stunning notebook both inside and out. I can not even begin to tell you how passionate I am about this device since the day I got it. The Unibody Macbook is generations ahead when compared to equivalent notebooks with similar specifications. There are countless reviews out there so in this review I would like to share with you the little things that are often overlooked, yet can make an impact to your buying decisions.
Hardware:
Build and design - Unlike the polycarbonate version, the unibody clearly feels solid. It is not a marketing gimmick and by far the most solid notebook you'll ever pick up. Lenovos were traditionally viewed as the 'tough' book class for business environments but the unibody manufacturing process has changed my view completely. (Although not recommended), there is virtually no flex picking up and holding the unibody by the edges.
Turn the macbook over and all you find is a clean and well presented underside. There are no ugly FCC stickers, no Windows

I'm so happy my girlfriend and I decided to purchase this Macbook! We each bought one!! The price is great for the quality. The battery life is great. It's so user friendly and fun to play with. I recommend Mac to everyone. PC's shouldn't even exist anymore!

I also have a Toshiba E105-S1402 that I purchased at Best Buy about a month and a half ago. This Mac is an amazing machine. The price is a bit hefty but it was well worth it. The OS is really easy to use after about a day of getting used to it (like holding down command instead of ctrl for shortcuts). Compared to the Toshiba, the difference in processing speed is slightly slower (Core 2 Duo P8400 at 2.4GHz) for this mac when it comes to bringing up applications. Editing photos on the Macbook is a much easier process as it is with editing movies and videos. iChat is really fun when you have fellow Mac users. The Toshiba has a backlit keyboard which I absolutely love and unfortunately this one didn't. Its comes in handy especially when you're in a dark room with a room mate sleeping or in a dark auditorium where its pitch black. Battery life is slightly longer on the Toshiba, but its a very minimal difference, about a 15 to 30 minute gap with video playback. My PC gets a lot hotter than this

I've been a PC/Windows User for 10 years and decided to switch to Mac recently.
So I went and bought the 2.4GHz-$1599 model and I really like the new Macbook & Leopard OS. Macbook has a much better screen & hardware design
compared to Dell/HP systems on the market. Leopard is way better than Vista and slightly better than Win7RC.
Here is my take for anyone interested in buying the new macbook -

This is a very nice machine. It uses the Mac software which is so much easier and better than Windows. The design of the laptop is very nice also, with the aluminum casing, light up Apple logo, and so on. Out of all my other laptops this is so much better. I don't get why people complain about the price? It seems to me it is a good price for what you get.

Went to best buy and originally planned to buy the white macbook but they were out of stock so the guy told me hed discount me $50 and i took the deal. i love the set up of macs and their style. glad i went ahead with the aluminum. doesnt get as dingy as the white, lighter, and slimmer. display is great. wireless internet range is good. and the trackpad is nice and large. love that the clicker is built into the trackpad also! you can't hear the thing run at all. gets a little warm at times but not hot like some pc's. speakers aren't surround sound, but it's a laptop, what can you expect? takes amazing pictures. oha nd from what i hear, macs can't get virus, so that means you save your money on anti-virus and spyware. it was a pretty penny. however, i love mine and im glad i went ahead and got this one. i'd say i'm definitely ready for college in the fall. awesome graduation gift :]

You can see why Consumer Reports rated this computer tops in its class. I'm a long-time Mac user and keep waiting to be disappointed by the next one I buy. Hasn't happened yet. This machine is incredible. I love the multi-touch trackpad. The screen is beautiful, incredibly bright. Battery life is great; I can get 5-6 hours of word processing time, plenty of life for almost any flight.
System 10.5 is great and incredibly stable. I love it. Put me down as another satisfied customer... again.

1) All Mac laptops should come standard with the backlit keyboard. This one DOES NOT. You don't think it would make a difference. Try typing in a dark room.
2) The speakers are terrible.
Past those 2 things, I will recommend this to anyone (well to those that can afford it).

My parents bought me a PC laptop with a reputable name brand, but it crashed a year later. I did everything right, I had "top of the line" virus protection, seldomly download things, but sure enough, it wasn't good enough. My best friend and brother in law both had PC laptops from another brand that they were both satisfied with. I debated wether or not to by this brand or a Mac...I'm SOOOO happy I went with the Mac. After I bought it, they both started experiencing problems. I've always heard PC users saying that Macs are difficult to use...well let me tell you, this is the most user friendly computer I've ever used. As just about every reviewer on here states; I will NEVER go back to being an PC user.

In the first couple days after getting my Macbook, I felt like the guy who is last to see a movie everyone loves. Everyone has been laughing and quoting it and telling me I have to see it, and when I finally get around to it, I think "Oh . . . but it's just a movie." After about six months of researching and being sold on Macs, I thought "Oh . . . but it's just a computer." It was a sad moment when I realized it wasn't going to change my life. I suppose as sort of a non-computer person, I was seduced into expecting it to hold me when I cried and make me breakfast in the morning. It doesn't do either one of those things.
I'm happy to say that I've grown quite fond of my Mac, after a fashion, even though it consistently refuses to do my dishes and hasn't actually changed my life. I will probably never be the Mac culty I thought I might become, but I don't see myself going back to Windows. I've sipped the kool-aid and found it delicious refreshing.

Purchased my daughter's new Macbook 2.0 Ghz from Amazon. Excellent shipping & flawless delivery of perfect product as usual with Amazon. This particular computer is absolutely amazing. The "solid" aluminum body is a different creature altogether. Typical excellence delivered by Apple, and this LED display is more brilliant than you can imagine; superior to the LCD on the white Macbook, but both have their advantages (the LCD is not as visible from a side-view; security consideration). Nevertheless, this is the finest laptop line I've seen yet from Apple. They just keep getting better and better. If you're looking for a great computer for your kid going to college, this is the perfect size (not too large to carry, yet solid and rigid construction). I strongly recommend purchasing the AppleCare (3 year warranty), and Mobile Me, as well as the Mac Box Set (which has iLife and iWork - the later does a brilliant job of functioning as a Microsoft Office substitute), and you can use the remaining

OK, my plan was to buy a cheap laptop for travel and instal some version of Linux, so that's what I started out looking for. Obviously, I just couldn't bring myself to do that. I'm a MacHead from way back, so syncing with the desktop and application compatibility became an issue. I needed small and light, and this is definitely small and light. I needed rugged and this is rugged. But, the keyboard is absolutely wonderful. I'm not a trackpad fan, but I really like this one. Took about an hour to adapt to it, and now I wouldn't have anything else. The display is beautiful. On of the best I've ever seen with one minor exception. The glossy screen is less than ideal in some lighting conditions. By and large, I can adjust the tilt of the display and it's fine, but the reflections can be a bit much. OTOH, in decent lighting conditions it's gorgeous. I spent way more than I intended, but I'm using this machine much more than I intended also. It's seen every bit as much action as my desktop since

After months of watching youtube, un-boxing and review videos, reading review forums, reading Bestbuy.com forums, asking people in school, asking graphic designers, and doing a load of other research i finally decided to get a Macbook. Easily one of the best decisions i have made in my entire life. The speed is amazing. I upgraded to 4Gigs of ram and sure am glad that i did since i run large programs like flash and photoshop. This thing opens pages within 1.2 seconds. 2.0 GhZ Duo Core Increases the speed even more. You are basically running 4.0 The problem that most people have is that the screen is glossy. So far in my experience the screen has not been and issue. When I turned on the Mac I had my Dell siting right next to it. I looked at the Dell screen and saw a huge difference! Lighter, Faster, Nicer, there fore better.
If you are scared that you wont get used to the OS trust me i thought the same. And after the 1st week i was thinking of returning it. Give it a week and a

I've owned a white polycarb MacBook for just over a year, and recently bought one of these new ones. As such, this review largely covers improvements and differences between these two models. I understand that the older gen MacBooks are still available both new and secondhand, and as such many might be interested in knowing how they differ.
Sheer performance wise, this machine is on par with my older MacBook. This is significant when you consider that I upgraded that one to the same amount of RAM (2 GB) and that it had a more powerful processor (2.2 ghz, as opposed to 2.0). For sheer crunching power, it's a very fast machine- made more so by the innate superiority of the Mac OS. Startup time is measured in seconds, and it is good to go in a heartbeat from sleep mode.
The case design looks nicer, is less prone to scratching and discoloration, and is thinner and feels more solid. The whole package is lighter, and the screen seems to be improved as well (brighter in general, and sharper).

I was worried when I first bought the Mac, especially since I've used Windows for my entire experience of computers. I have to say it was SOO easy to swtich to the Mac. Everything is right in front of you - and after you learn your way around, you'll find that using the programs is easier. It's very fast, sleek, and portable. My only complaint is the price, but you get what you pay for and it was well worth the $1299!!! I am very impressed with the mac, and I will NEVER go back to windows!

This is my first mac and I couldn't be happier with it. I was excited to find out that it came with Apache and PHP installed on it right out of the box. Not that it is hard to put them on a windows machine, but it saved me time to do other things. I also love how easy it is to install applications. You know where they are being installed and you know where their associated files are. Since it is built on a UNIX foundation you don't need to worry about messing with the registry.
My only problem that I have with it is that I should have got the one higher up. The only reason is because the keyboard can be difficult to see in rooms that are not that well lit. The back lit keyboard would have been a nice feature on it, but the price for the next macbook up just couldn't be justified.

i ordered this item december 23, 2008,
received the item the next day,
completed the rebate process online,
got a reference number for the completion,
got an email in a month or so from amazon that the rebate was "approved of",
called amazon more than five times as i haven't seen the rebate,
only to be told
1) i didn't complete the process,
2) the rebate was on the way,
3) i would have to call the "rebate center" (that is NOT part of amazon) where i got irrelevant recorded messages and no real person to talk to,
4) i would receive it in a week or two since i indeed completed the required process,
5) i would get an email from amazon with "complete information" about the rebate.
i went to the order information page in my amazon account and there is NO way to contact amazon with this issue but to call.
so here it is.
amazon will probably block this review, as well.
but i will NOT go away, Amazon, until i get my rebate and your reasonable explanation for this otherwise

WOW!
That's the only way i can describe just how fantastic this laptop is. Not only do the features run extremely smoothly on this computer, I find myself more and more impressed with the Mac software over what PC has. Features like Front Row and the Dashboard make owning a Mac more entertaining and unique than any other computer I've owned.
I was absolutely gobsmacked at just how beautiful the laptop is. The aluminum exterior has a great look and durable feel to it. The full glass display is nice to look at and has great display of detail and color.
One of my favorite features is the ingenuity of the trackpad. It moves the arrow, scrolls, rotates photos, zooms webpages/photos, move backward and forward through webpages/photos and displays all open programs to be selected. The function you want it to do depends on how many fingers you swipe with. Not having separate left and right buttons is useful too since you can just click down on the trackpad as you go.

This is the most amazing laptop I have ever used in my life. I love everything about it. When I was looking for a laptop for college next year, I wasn't sure if I should make the switch and spend a little extra money on a mac or just buy a cheap pc. I made the right choice. I would never trade my mac for anything else. I love it so much. Whenever I have to use someone else's pc I wonder how I ever used them. I do my best to avoid having to use pc. There is nothing wrong with pcs but sometimes they can be really annoying. I have for sure been spoiled with my mac. The trac pad is especially cool. The different finger strokes are so cool!! Like many of the reviews posted here, I am also a converted PC to Mac user now (been using windows since Windows 98 came out). Just before purchasing my macbook (which is the 2.4 ghz model with 128 gig SSD), I had a Dell Laptop with almost identical specs. For the PC laptop, within the first day of using it, I got the B.S.O.D. (blue screen of death, aka the blue error screen) 2 times. After many failed attempts dealing with the cust service (we all know how great Dell C.S. is.. absolutely horrible), I decided to return my Dell laptop and get my first ever macbook. All I can say is that I've had this laptop for 2 months now and have not had ONE problem with it. I updated all of the software updates with no problems at all, installed all of my mac programs that I bought with no problems, and pretty much coasted through everything else. In addition to the problem free experience I've had with this laptop, the programs open up almost instantaneously. There are no holdups at all and the

i purchased this computer yesterday, and since i was "lucky" enough to get one manufactured last year, i did not get the ilife 09 upgrade advertised on the apple.com website => http://www.apple.com/macbook/software.html.
Granted the Amazon.com page does say ilife '08, but this machine is now almost SIX months old and it doesnt have recent software?!
The Apple support were helpful enough to offer to sell me ilife 09 for $79.

Voice recognition is the coolest feature I found so far. For example, you can just say, "open browser" or "open safari" and up comes the internet. Also, if you are writing a document, if you are hooked up to a wireless printer, you can just say "print" and out comes your document. Also, it loads faster than I have ever seen.

i had used pc's for the first 16 years of my life until i got a macbook and i instantly fell in love with it. it is the best computer i have ever used in every aspect. it is fast, the operating system is reliable and safe, it is easy to use, it is at a great price for how much it is really worth, web browsing is so simple on it, and i havent had a virus ever on it where ive had at least 10 on my previous pc's. i highly recomend this product.

There are so many reviews on this already. There isn't too much to add.
So here were my big concerns and conlcusions after one month of ownership.
Is it hard to switch to a Mac-
very very easy. I used firefox on a PC, now I use firefox on a Mac. With all the cool gestures its even better than firefox on a PC.
Mac version of MS office is better and easier than MS Office for Windows, which is weird considering MS should really make its own OS version better, but I guess it has more to work with on a Mac.
Picasa- now available for Mac.
utorrent- now available for mac.
Glossy screen- I hate glossy screens, but the mac 13.3 glossy screen is fine. Never once had any glare ever. On a comprable pc glossy screen, glare was so bad I returned it. So the screen is actually one of the best I have ever used, even compared to my samsung 24 inch desktop monitor.
mini displayport- get an HDMI connector from monoprice. That way you can have video out to your HDTV for hulu and such. But

I can't say enough about how much I love my Macbook. It is a beautiful piece of engineering. The laptop itself is incredibly solid, there are almost no moving parts on the case, and it has no squeaking, give, or any other little annoyances that exist on other laptops (like weak-points in the case, seams that are coming apart, etc). The unibody construction is simple amazing. This *will* sound ridiculous, but even closing the lid is more satisfying than with other laptops. Finally, I am in love with the trackpad. It is incredible. I used to be unable to control a computer with a trackpad and I carried around a mouse with me everywhere. The trackpad on this macbook, though, has eliminated my need for a mouse. I don't know if it the gigantic size, the mouse button integrated into the pad, or all the awesome multi-touch gestures, but the combination of all of that has eliminated my need for an external mouse with this laptop.

I just got this new Unibody (Aluminum) MacBook yesterday and I am very much enjoying it. This is my very first Mac Computer and I am glad that I finally made the switch.
Mac has been around for a very long time and is well known based on their top of the line customer service and quality products. There are several laptops/notebooks that are currently available out there for half the price but none of them have the same quality and performance as the Apple Computer products. You get more than what you pay for! Despite this notebook being expensive, it is an investment that you can trust and expect to last at least twice as long as the other competitor's product.
Let me break this review down into bits and pieces.
Design:
As you may have already know, the new MacBook is designed and carved from a single block of Aluminum. This makes the product more reliable as it reduces the chances of other parts falling apart. You will not find any faults in its design.

Gift to person who had always lived in the Windows world. They were immediately happy. New touch pad really works as advertised. Price beats Apple store! Now I'm envious and want one.

I chose to upgrade to a Mac after a bad experience with VIsta. This computer is everything that I hoped it would be and more! I considered the $1599 model as well, but opted for the cheaper one because the back lit keyboard, while cool, is not something that I really need and I can expand the memory capacity myself for under $100 when I fill the 160gb up.
A few things:
-The screen seems bigger than 13.3" and is very clear and sharp.
-The computer runs very fast.
-The computer runs very cool.
-Lightweight, but a very solid feel.
-Very good battery life.
-All of the ports are on the left side, which is a bit inconvenient.
-There are only 2 USB ports.
-There is no card reader, but a usb adaptor can be purchased for $20 or less.
-Overall the computer is very quiet. The CD drive is a bit noisy, but I don't really use it a whole lot so it isn't a big deal.
-It is a bit expensive, but I feel that you get what you pay for.

Everything has worked as advertised and as a Vista convert (well, I still must use for work) I'm giddy over the update process, the quick response on boot times and shutting down, power consumption and overall ergonomics.
I have had the MB since October and not one complaint. (I must say I purchased this because I was not happy with the audio out of the 32GB 2nd Gen Ipod I purchased - tried 4 of them)
I watch DVD's, Napster, Skype... easy enough to carry everywhere and listen to music / multimedia... I also tether my BB Curve and it works every time.

As an early adopter of Macs back in the day I was looking forward to this computer. While I work at the office on a Vista Dell machine I decided to go Mac for my travel laptop because nothing impressed me in the Windows world as much as the MacBook did.
So after two weeks here is what I like:
1. Fit and Finish. No laptop in the Windows world comes close. The aluminum unibody is an engineering marvel and a thing of beauty.
(The new laptop coming from Dell very likely will rival the MacBook but we will have to wait and see.)
2. Keyboard. A real strength. Very easy to work with. Has good feedback and nice key travel. Silent but responsive. Very very nice. Backlighting on the 250 GB model is very nice but kind of gives a spooky glow as the light leaks out between the keys. Horror film fans will be happy as they wonder what entity is trapped in their keyboards.
3. Touchpad. Very intuitive and responsive. A little hard to click but leap years ahead of the current one button or two button

I bought the 160gb macbook on 2/28/09, and I have to say this computer is amazing. It runs faster than any other laptop that I ever owned, has the ability to run numerous applications/programs at once without a problem. The battery life lives up to the time span that is stated on apples website, doesn't overheat while in your lap. Although this model doesn't have the backlit keyboard that the 250gb has, I can still use it in the dark without a problem, and the screen doesn't blind me in the dark like the other laptops I have had in the past.
I have become a macbook fan for life, will never buy another brand again.

Recent PC user yada yada yada.
13 Inch Aluminum Macbook 2ghz - from a pure price to spec standpoint these things are about 2x as expensive as a comparable windows PC, but you also get more than just a laptop as well. What you are paying for is the packaging and design beyond the hardware; which is actually worth quite a lot.
What I love. Aluminum design, trackpad, screen (yes I actually like the glossy screen and better than the white macbook), battery life, speed, bootcamp, easy upgrade-ability and just overall "work of art" styling Apple produces.
What I don't like. Price, only 2 USB ports, only 2gb of memory (doesn't affect speed, but should be 4gb just be competitive at this price range) and hard drive size.
What I experienced. New user to Macs and OSX so the keyboard takes some getting use to, shortcuts are confusing, dock is confusing, bootup is really fast, battery takes long time to charge but lasts a long time, and wireless is fast.
Final. I really like this and don't regret

This is my first Mac, and wow I am impressed, iLife 09 is fantastic and this laptop is extremely quick to load and without all of the Vista errors and crashes I can tell that it is going to be a great laptop for years to come. It feels amazing and the trackpad is fantastic with the multi-touch feature it feels just like my iPhone. Overall I am so glad I purchased this and its official I am hooked!

Great software already included in mac, new addition of Nvidia graphics card makes this cpu great to Load another O.S. and run Boot Camp. Trackpad is very convenient when scrolling, etc. Recommend an Apple over any other PC anyday!

Ok let's see...I just bought this macbook today, so I haven't had a chance to learn all about it yet. But so far I am loving it. This is my first laptop ever and my very first Mac. The trackpad is awesome, has taken some getting used to. I also have had to turn off my Window's mentality and go into this with a fresh outlook. it's hard to do, but when I don't think about how different it is from what I'm used to, it makes it easier to transition. just like learning a new program for the first time. I also love the keyboard, the keys are flat and smooth and it is very easy to type, doesn't make alot of noise. I know the macbooks are a little more expensive, but it is so worth it. From what I have been told from many many mac users that if taken care of these products will last a lot longer than a PC. I know if you try this laptop, you will love it as much as I do. Good luck!!

Have had the product for a little over a month now and it's by far the best laptop I've owned.
It has:
Bright LED LCD display
Amazing up-time with a single charge
Stellar keyboard
Brilliant O/S w/ Leopard
Outstanding speed and performance for all applications!
It doesn't have:
A number pad, sorry... I had to think of something.

"This computer rocks. I love everything about it. I make videos with my friends all the time. It is soooooo easy to use and it is sooooo stylish. The only thing that I have a problem with is the price. I mean it was totally worth it but it was kind of expensive. I have only had this a mazing computer for about 4 months and not once have I wanted to throw it out the window. As you know it"s Mac and I used to have a Dell. I had soooo many problems with it so I got this laptop. It's awesome and if you decide to buy one I hope you like it too."

I got this product about two weeks ago, only I upgraded the HD to 250gb. It is by far the best computer I have ever used. I am relatively new to macs, and I have never owned a mac before this. In high school we had macs but they were old and poorly maintained.
After I took this computer out of the box I was online in no less than 15 minutes. Soon all my music was transferred as well as pictures and videos.
The track pad took some getting use to but in no time I was learning all of the gestures and getting use to the fact that there was not separate button.
All in all this is a great computer and I don't think I will ever be able to switch back to PC now.

Price aside, lack of firewire, and glossy screen aside this computer is as close as it gets to perfect.
The most important factor I think people should look at is actual performance. Specs for macs and windows computers arent comparable. Its speedy and it stays fast like most macs. Great applications in the application suite iLife that allow you create nifty projects that school or life might throw at you.
The illuminated keyboard, multi-touch pad, and upgraded graphics are great improvements over the previous generation.
The fact that it looks simply beautiful and sleek is an added bonus.

I absolutely love this laptop. I went to Best Buy with every intention of buying an HP I'd been looking at online for about $450 less. However, after I used this laptop everything else felt like a cheap piece of plastic. I couldn't convince myself to WANT another laptop after I saw this one. And I haven't been disappointed, although I do kind of which I'd sprung for the 2.4 Ghz processor model with the backlit keys because they would've made typing in the dark a lot easier (but I couldn't justify the $300 price increase just for that feature!)
The sound on this laptop is beautiful-- way better than my old Dell. It's like the entire case is a speaker! I love it. The case, by the way, is gorgeous. Apple did an amazing job designing every last piece of the computer. The keyboard feels like a normal keyboard-- not like a lot of laptops which feel like plastic glued to foam. I was also concerned that I would not have enough memory (only 2GB of DDR3 compared to 4GB of DD3 on some PC

I purchased this unit about a week and a half ago and I really love this computer. This was my first ever Mac purchase and I am very pleased with the functionality and the speed of this computer. Bootcamp was very easy to use and I was able to install Vista on the second partition with no issues at all. The MacBook runs OSX/Vista flawlessly it truly is having the best of both worlds. OSX comes with all of the preinstalled apps that you need to do everything from photo editing, video editing, text editing and even composing music. I felt OSX was very easy for me to use because i am familiar with some of the various Linux platforms. I would recommend this computer to anyone that is looking to purchase a Mac and would like to become familiar with the Mac without putting too much of a strain on their budget. I am so please with my MacBook that any other PC I purchase in the future will definitely be a MacBook or a MacBook Pro.

Let me hit the low points first. This laptop is more expensive than their PC counterparts. Expect to pay $300.00 more than a comparably equipped PC. Also the display doesn't have a large range of view. You have to look spot on to avoid color wash out. Two gigabytes of Memory is not enough for a computer at this price, nor is a 160 GB HDD.
If you can get past those few issues then this will be a great computer for you. I own an iMac at home and got this laptop for school. I highly suggest including a MobileMe account ($99.00) a year if this computer is going to be a satellite for your desktop. I am able to sync my life between these two computers. I store my documents on the Idisk. Meaning any changes I make either on the laptop or the desktop are automatically synced. I no longer have to worry about where my files are. Plus I can access them from a PC at work. All of my email accounts, bookmarks, and contacts are synced beautifully from both computers. I always hated having to

After a 10 year experience with Windows based PC's I bought an iMac last year. I bought this for Christmas for the portability and prefer it over my desktop Mac.
For anyone hesitating to make the switch to Mac's, hesitate no longer. Our family has had 8 Windows based computers over the years. After Vista came out, that was the final straw. I bought the iMac and 2 of my son's did the same.
Now, my 12 year old wants to convert!
It's ironic, but Vista runs better on a Mac! Windows XP (SP2) or Vista can be installed on a Mac using an included program called Boot Camp. So, you can run a windows program if you absolutely have to.
As for price, some may say it's too pricey. I say, you get what you pay for. Apple is known for their top rated support. You need help, you talk to a person you can actually understand!
There's a reason why Apple computers outsell any other brand these days.
Once you go Mac, you'll NEVER go back.

Overall an absolutely stunning machine. People have claimed the cpu gets slightly warmer than other laptops, but heat dissipation feel better than the thinkpad i had before. Screen can get smudges that are a pain to wipe away, but which screen doesnt have that issue? Overall it's pretty solid, but slightly pricier than equivalent pc machines. I think the os and upgrading to new os' make it worthwhile(Look at buying mac os x vs vista upgrade) along with the stability mac os' offer.
I currently use it at school for Engineering. First day i got it i installed windows xp via bootcamp for some apps that are windows only. Easy setup and install. Im a little worried about xp security, but xp runs flawlessly on it, and the graphics for some games i have running are pretty good.

I was nervous taking the plunge to a Macbook. I had always had PCs growing up. After what everyone was telling me about how easy they are and how similar they were to PC I had to give it a try. Macbook is just amazing in all around performance. Starts up in no time and battery lasts for hours. I can go to class all day and not have to worry about having to charge after class. MS Office for Mac is great. Ilife 09' is really cool with the facial recognition software and very easy to use. Everything about the computer just makes sense and cannot believe that I waited this long to switch to Mac.

This is my first mac and although the price is a little high for a regular laptop of equal specs its well worth it. I purchased it expecting to want to upgrade to the more expensive model within the year but i doubt that will happen.
The display doesnt seem as small as 13 inches if you are worried about that and it can get painfully bright. Honestly the only problem i have had with it is a utility called boot camp. For those who don't know its a utility that comes standard to allow you to repartition the hard drive and install windows on it. I needed to do this because i own a zune and microsoft doesn't make the software to run on macs currently. After partitioning the hard drive and installing windows it wouldnt boot up to either program resulting in having to reinstall os x and start from scratch all over. Not really that bad of thing just a bit annoying. Other then that only other flaws i can find are that the edges are kind sharp so it can get uncomfortable to sit at certain

I paid for this New Apple Macbook, and got it on Christmas day! When I opened it up the screen was bright like I had never seen one on like a dell or an HP laptop. I was stunned on seeing how fast it was! Thank You Apple For making this ingenious product! Please Buy, It will not upset! Watching and making movies is great also (iMovie) I recorded some songs on my Macbook with (Garageband) and mixed it. And it sounds superb. Thanks Again, you guys are so smart out in California!

After trying out several laptops at Bestbuy I gave up and went with this. It was about $500 more than a similar PC with similar or even better specs. The build quality is excellent. The display is not flimsy like some other laptops. It's also encased in glass. The touchpad is very nice and probably the best i've used. Same with the keyboard. If you hate the Apple Wireless keyboards, this is so much better. Trust me on that.
2gb is ok, but most similar computers have around 4gb. A 120-160gb hard drive for such an expensive computer is just wrong. It's bad enough they used a cheaper and somewhat slow drive in the system.
One negative is USB only for external devices. USB is slow and it takes forever to back up a hard drive. Why not eSATA?
I have to give credit to Apple on the redesign though. It's super easy to upgrade the hard drive and memory. It takes less than a few minutes for each.
Glossy displays are also bad. This isn't just glossy, but far worse.

Who'd have thunk that Bill Gates would be bribing people to pan the new MacBook on Amazon? Yet, the proof is in the pudding. The new MacBook is, frankly, the best consumer laptop Apple has every sold, and I've owned just about all of them. It's also the finest consumer laptop out there, but, I suppose, I'm repeating myself. Yes, there are a few folks who elevate the lack of a FireWire port to the kiss of death, or complain about the "quality" of the screen, even though it is the same quality screen that made its appearance in the last iteration of the MacBook -- and, more importantly, it's a damn fine screen that no reasonable user could find fault with. It's bright, vivid and clear, backlit by LEDs that truly make it quick to light up, easy on the eyes, and a beautiful display for watching videos or slide shows. Those who complain are a lot like the folks who could be convinced that tap water is actually Norwegian glacier drippings, or that hand-rolled oregano is a joint. Finding

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
I had to give up my HP laptop so I saw this as an opportunity to try out the new Macbook. Granted, it was a few hundred $ more than an equivalent PC but I really don't mind paying extra for quality - and without a doubt, quality was what I received. I've checked it out quite a few times at Apple Stores prior to making my purchase, but for some reason I was a lot more impressed after getting mine and having hands-on with it for a few days. The unibody gives it a very solid feel and the build-quality is un-comparable by any PC that I've seen/used. This is a work of art. I find myself wiping it obsessively on a daily basis and I would leave it on top of my desk just to show it off. The magnetic power cord is genius as I've already kicked it off quite a few times.
THE SETUP:
I've never used a Mac before and was a little bit hesitant so I Boot Camped it and installed Windows 7 Beta on it. The installation went flawlessly. All the drivers were included on the CD. Just

I have had the 2.4 gb macbook for over three weeks (from Amazon) and I can feel the positive differences between this and my last generation black macbook, which developed a squeaking problem at the palmrest. The screen is a plus because the use of LEDs makes the sleep-wake process almost instantaneous and the images do look sharper (the glossy screen has not been a problem but I am only using it indoors) and the screen also bends back more. And if you don't take care of your computer screen like I did before, you will for this one because fingerprints and dust are very noticeable on the screen and bezel.
I use it to primarily to surf the web and to do word processing for school. The start-up of most programs are quick like with the older macbook and if they are slow it probably has to do with the program because MS Word takes a long time to close and is the only program that has caused the beachball to come up multiple times. The iSight is the same as the old macbook and it serves it

This past "black friday" I was tempted to upgrade my current laptop to something smaller. My HP 17" laptop was like a brick and I wanted something that did not weigh a lot. I originally was planning on spending half a grand on a cheap laptop. I guess I ended up spending much more!
I first went with a Dell computer and liked it a lot. The price was great and it had the best specifications I could find for the money. Unfortunately I had to return it due to some minor issues.
The problem I had with making the initial purchase at first was the price. It cost almost five hundred dollars more than a comparable PC with even better specs. The hard drive was also too small and only came with 2gb of ram. Since I absolutely need to run some Windows programs, i'd have to also purchase a licensed copy of Windows.
To me, 160gb on such an expensive computer is just not acceptable. It seems that Apple always has put smaller hard drives in their computers. To be honest, until I opened and used my

I just recently switched from a PC to this Macbook and I have to say that I love this computer. The screen is so bright and crystal clear. I would also recommend getting iWork. It is easy to use and you can easily save a file as a .doc, .xls, or .ppt so that windows based computers can view the files.

Made the move from windows vista and glad I did. Super fast surfing but wish Apple can do something about the price so everyone can enjoy something else then Vista!!!

battery life is very good when i watch a dvd it last about 5 hours when i browse webs it last about 6 hours, only 4.5 pounds, bright screen, but the only thing wrong is the sound is not very loud. i have had 4 other laptops and all were with microsoft operating systems. I was skeptical when changing to Mac, but it actually worked out great i do not regret it at all. I would say this laptop is only good for students.

I've had this for about a month now and so far so good. The only thing that really annoys me is the lack of firewire and media card reader. Also, with such attention to detail, I would have hoped they made a charger that matches the aluminum body. The touchpad is amazing and the keyboard is soft and precise. The body feels solid and the screen is bright and clear. The glossy screen can get annoying in brightly lit rooms however.
I also own a high end gaming PC running Vista and I think both PC and Mac OS have their uses. Vista is not the unstable monster portrayed in Mac commercials or by many users on this site. It does however require a more computer savvy user to truly use it to its full potential. An equally priced laptop PC at this price point could easily outmatch the MacBook is performance, storage and features. The MacBook or any Apple or PC components (hard drive, ram, graphics card) comes from pretty much the same parts bin anyways. Granted Apple is a little more selective

I purchased this laptop for a number of reasons. For school, research, computer programming...I also DJ, and it's the greatest sidekick anyone could ever have. Opening up the box, the manual read "Congratulations, you and your macbook were meant to be." How very right it was! It has excelled in every task I have given it. It's the perfect laptop. Easy to use, comfortable trackpad, portable, light, sturdy, fast, reliable. Everything you look for in a laptop.

Last year I decided to give a try to Macs and bought an iMac. I must tell that I fell in love with it and a few months later I decided to sell my brand new Sony Vaio to buy the MacBook. Best decision ever! This computer is just great! I love how you can do anything with it way easier than in a PC. It never crashes or freezes, keyboard is very comfortable, trackpad is just amazing with the new gestures, battery life is amazing too. And, of course, it just looks gorgeous. It's thin, elegant and I love the fact that I don't have to hold the lower part while opening the lid. It has so many amazing things that you have to try it to believe it! If you're having second thoughts, forget it, just buy it, you won't regret it!

As a high school student i need a notebook that is reliable and does not stall. At my school we have MacBooks available to students(1st gen). I can surly say this is one of the best laptops out there. I know some people reading this are complaining that i am just a high school student and this computer wouldn't stand up in a business environment. I totally agree , if you need a computer for heavy business using this computer is not for you. If you need a computer for school or for fun or for even light work you should get this machine. It will be ready when ever you need it.

I've been using Windows since 3.1 and have never really cared for learning about Macs...well that is until Windows decided to make Vista. Since my first experience with Vista on a friend’s computer, I knew I needed to start looking at Apple. Finally found a reason (Christmas) to purchase this and I must say I am thoroughly impressed with what Apple has been doing all along. It also helps that this little sucker is extremely powerful (and can be easily upgraded to 4GB of ram and a 500GB hard drive for about $200 more off online vendors). If you’re really into graphics and video, then you might want to opt for the MacBook Pro. A friend of mine has the new unibody MBP and the graphics are pretty impressive. A little bigger body, but still fairly mobile.
I definitely think we are approaching the plateau of hardware-based computing technology, and all you need is a computer with some great hardware specs (this MacBook!) and just let the software that Apple writes take full

This is my first Mac. I have had several PC's and was very disappointed with Windows Vista on my laptop. I purchased the Macbook for school and was pleasantly suprised how easy it was to set up. I even was able to hook up my wireless printer with ease. I still have to call support to hook up my windows based computers as I was unable to figure out how to configure the printer and computer. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. I plan to change my home computer to an Apple in the next few months. Oh, did I mention that it is very difficult to get a virus on a Mac. I was sold right there.

I bought this laptop for my wife because she has had a history of installing spyware and acquiring viruses so I felt a MAC would work better for her. I am very impressed by this laptop. The batter really does last over 5 hours, even while connecting to WIFI. The screen is incredible, and the overall feel of the laptop is that of quality. The aluminum enclosure instead of plastic really adds to this feel. On a PC she would come to me every 30 minutes with stuff not working right, however on this she has only needed my help once. This is a great machine, and even if you are on a PC I would highly recceomend this laptop.

I bought an iMac about 9 Months ago, i decided to get a laptop i wanted a MacBook but since i was short on cash i thought i could survive on an Acer with Windows... was i wrong... it just wasnt the same having an iMac with Leopard then trying to go back to Windows. I had it for a day before i decided to get my MacBook so i gave away the Acer. It is a little pricier compared to other laptops but it is worth every penny...

I got this for christmas and it is really good. Its fast and works for me. The only problem is the battery life. Its not so great just like the iPhone. It must be an Apple thing.

This laptop is great, its my first mac and love it. It took about 5 minutes to set everything up and i was done.
The comp is real sturdy, and the trackpad is amazing, i always used to use a mouse and at first it was kinda hard to get used to, but its all i use and don't even think about my mouse.
The battery life is really fantastic, i've seen the battery indicator tell me 7 hours left... Its great
If anyone is on the fence about this macbook and isn't sure i would definitely recommend it

As a first time Apple Mac user, I have come to like the Macbook very well. A few minor flaws apart (which all laptops have), the Macbook is a solid purchase. I see many sore complaints in other user reviews, but if a lack of Firewire port or a display with whites/blacks not being as good is a problem for you, then this one's not for you. However, if you do not need a Firewire (I don't, my WD external HDD works on USB 2) and you get to decide the lighting conditions for use, then there aren't many other flaws. Don't let some biased 2 star ratings turn you away from the Mac - those ratings are by people who hate the new Macs just because of a lack of Firewire port or so.
Upgrading RAM/HDD is childishly easy - I did not even have to watch those online videos to learn how. The only precaution you should take (as I did) is to take care of static before touching the Macbook.
If you require ocassional Windows applications, get VMWare Fusion or Parallels - I'm personally on VMware and it works

I got this MacBook for christmas and switched from a PC. I love it. The best computer I have ever had. Bright display; it automatically adjusts to the brightness of your current location. I recommend getting iWork to go with it as it does not come with any writing Applications.

I have never used a mac as I have always been a pc person, but am very pleased so far. Very easy to use and the video quality when I use skype is excellent. Still learning how to use everything, but am glad that I won't have to deal with Microsoft forcing an operating system that hardly works on its end-users.

(Disclaimers: I am not an IT professional so I cannot judge the Macbook's performance based on any technical standards such as benchmark CPU tests, etc. Also, I got the machine, AppleCare and full software suite at a student discount from my university's laptop program, which I take for granted.)
My first college laptop was a Dell Latitude D610. It was a fantastic machine for its price, doing everything I needed it to do. But recently I heard that PC laptops are only expected to last around 4 years before giving out, so I decided to take advantage of my school's discount program and buy a new laptop before I graduated. A tech supervisor I talked to sold me on the superior quality and durability of the Macbook, and when I saw the new line of Aluminum Macbooks on the Apple site I decided after a lot of research and thought to go for it. It arrived December 1 and I've been using it ever since.
All I can say is that switching from PC to Mac has been a revelation. The new Macbook is the most

This is an amazing laptop. I bought it from best buy three weeks ago and do not regret my decision.. I will prob. never buy a windows computer ever again. The OS X operating system runs flawlessly and the unibody enclosure feels durable and looks unbelievably sleek. The best laptop I have prob. ever used.. If you are thinking about buying it... DO IT!

I love the fact that it's light. It's only 4.5 pounds which makes it very portable. The aluminum casing is very sleek and elegant. The track pad is the best. It eliminates a lot of the usual right clicking. Using a track pad in other laptops are usually harder with controls. But not with the 5th gen macbooks. I love the fact that you can use more than one finger with the multi-functions.
Macs can be a little pricey. But consider that you don't ever have to pay for an anti-virus software and spyware subscription every year makes it worth it.
It takes a little getting used to the controls though. Some of the keys you find in a regular keyboards are not present, like the backspace and printscreen. But it's still a great buy!

I upgraded to a new Vista laptop last year, and have been unhappy and frustrated with it from the start. When my daughter's laptop died a horrible death, I really didn't want to go through the same Vista pains with her, so I decided to replace it with a Mac (it's going to be a Christmas present, so shhh!). As designated tech support for my family and friends, I started learning everything I could about Mac before she started asking questions. The more I learned about it, the more I wanted one for myself, and now that I have one, I am really kicking myself for not switching last year.
It's simply beautiful. I know it sounds like I drank the apple-flavored Kool-Aid, but the Macbook really is a marvel of elegant form and function. It feels solid and substantial, without being bulky and heavy. the aluminum design is a work of art, and I really appreciate all of the eco-friendly choices that were made regarding the components.
The LED screen is brighter and clearer than my old laptop's

So you have decided to buy a MAC to replace your windows laptop? Well I can tell you its easy to goto a MAC and still have windows apps running. Go buy VMWARE Fusion. This will allow you to use UNITY which can run any app in your windows vmware image inside your mac. =) thus bridging the gap between windows and mac.
Hardware wise this machine was lacking. GO SPEND THE MONEY on the 2.4ghz as you will get BACKLIT keyboard. instead of this one which you do not. Of cheap out like I did, and then go buy 4gb of memory from newegg . com for 120$ and a 320gb hdd for 90$. and have one hell of a macbook on the cheap.

This is my first Mac and it has so many great points. Most impressive are it's speed and how quite it is when running. When I run any website with flash video on my 2 year old desktop computer, the fans immediately begin to spin at full velocity. The Mac manages to play flash video without breaking a sweat, and without so much as a sigh. Safari loads web pages crazily fast. Some pages load instantly, such as GoDaddy, even if the page has not been cached. Very impressive.
The wireless-N receiver in the MacBook works great and manages to pick up wireless signals with very high reception that my friend's recent model Dell laptop doesn't even recognize (even though it has a wireless-N receiver also).
I love the new trackpad. It makes navigation very quick and can be customized to suit your likes. By default, you have to press down on the track pad to click, but you can change the behavior so that only a light touch will click, very similar to how you click on the iPhone. Scrolling with two
