Having read some of the less positive reviews, I put off getting these for a long time, but finally picked them up last week, since logic insists that the dual element driver cannot be anything but an improvement, and others with similar technology cost more than my iphone did.. The improvement in bass response over the earbuds included with my ipod and iphone is really major. The sound is shockingly clear and the bass is just so much more than I expected- not overpowering, but much much richer and more clear. I can only assume that people who didn't care for them were wearing them wrong, as the difference is really very dramatic. I will still drag my iphone pack-ins along for phone calls, but for music I wouldn't use anything other than these. Very very happy I picked them up.

These headphones are really nice... until they break. The sound quality is great and if you get the remote ones, that's nice too. But they seem to just fall apart and with apple lacking warranty and the fact that they seem to break right after the return period is over seems hardly worth the 80 bucks.

I wasn't happy at all with the earphone that came with my iPhone 3gs and have been looking for replacements that has remotes. I had my mind set on Bose in-ear, but since it didn't seem to have volume control, I settled on this earphone based on some of the positive reviews by "audiophiles". This earphone is just horrible, no base and hollow sounds. The only way I can describe the sounds are as if every one of my mp3 were ripped to 64kbps...or less. In fact, the ones that came with the iPhone and my bluetooth Motorola S9 sound far better than this. Only positive thing I can say about this earphone is that it fits comfortably in my ears. I had a high hope for this and bought 2 for our iPhones, and both are going back for refund.

I purchased these to give my Bose some much needed rest thinking that Apple made big strides on sound quality. Boy, was I mistaken. Treble is great, but that's all you get; treble, treble, and more treble. You ask about bass. Well, there is no bass. None that I could hear. These are not worth the $80. If you ask me, these are worse than the last 2 models that Apple produced. Add a few more dollars and check out Bose. You won't be disappointed.

So let me first add the disclaimer which seems more and more necessary with Apple products: I am a big fan of Apple design, and their products. Between my wife and I, we have 3 Apple computers, 5 iPods/iPhones, and I've helped other people in my family make the switch. All that being said, when my Shure e2c's finally died, I figured these would be a welcome step up - I mean who could turn down a well-rated dual-driver in-ear headphone from Apple which would work with my iPhone Gen 1 phone (I knew that the volume buttons wouldn't work). I couldn't be more wrong - this is the first Apple product I've purchased which is shockingly under-engineered for it's intended purpose. I'd be fine with the added sound transmission from the wires (my Shure's had virtually none), which definitely affected the sound, but the fact that they can't handle a little sweat from a workout is absolutely unacceptable. I use the Pandora Radio app regularly, and right when I'm getting into my workout (read: I

I purchased these for my Ipod touch because I wanted something with a microphone so I could use Skype to make calls. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend them, given the price. They are accurate at mid and high range, but the bass is extremely lacking. I can get some more bass when I push them carefully/deeply in my ear canal, but compared to my far cheaper Sony EX-51's ($25), this expensive Apple product is a disappointment. The mid's/highs are more accurate than the Sony, but the lack of bass from these Apple headphones leaves you wanting for more... far more. Listening to Britney Spears' Circus, I could feel the bass move me with the cheap Sonys, but the Apple product didn't reach down nearly as far. I adjusted my Ipod's bass to bass boost EQ, and it helped the Apple earphones, but when switching back and forth between my cheap Sony's, it was no contest (in terms of bass). The Sony's kicked Apple's premium headphones -- noticeably. Again, in the mids/highs the Apple beats the Sony

These are the best headphones for your Iphone hands down. I just upgraded to the Iphone 3GS last week and these headphones work flawless with them. The mic is clear enough for me to use the voice control feature which I come to really enjoy. The sound is perfect because I can hear highs and lows. I also have the Monster Turbines and Vmoda Bass Freq headphones...and compared to both they deliver. They fit more snug than my other headphones and I know they will be perfect for working out and everyday use. Play music and receive calls all at once. You can also control the Ipod functions right from the control pad on the headphones. I don't know why I was second guessing APPLE.

I purchased a set of these in ear phones a several days ago and have been trying to evaluate them ever since. I was initially rather dissapointed upon first hearing them I must admit. I suppose I was really expecting something spectacular and it just didn't happen. I thought I'd be getting thumping bass and sparkling high frequencies but found that both ends of the sonic spectrum was somewhat subdued. Yes, I did have a tight seal and experimented with all 3 sets of the supplied ear pieces. It just ain't there! I also see the problem other reviewers have mentioned concerning the aggrivating noises transmitted by the dangling wires if you're doing anything other than sitting perfectly still. One other odd thing I have noticed with these phones is how much more battery drain I see with these over the same listening period than when using the other Apple earphones models. I'm really trying to learn to like these things, but I was just made even less fond of them by Apple's support and customer

These are some of the best headphones I've ever used. They have a very neutral sound that lets you customize the sound through the EQ settings rather than using the EQ to fix the headphone's sound. They compare well to my $350 Sennheiser over the ear headphones which are way too bulky to use on the go with my iPhone. They also block outside noise extremely well. They're great for use anywhere you just want to listen to music and not be bothered by anything else. Likewise, be careful if you plan on walking around with these on. They block outside noise so well and let you really get into the music that you won't be as aware of your surroundings.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I've been seeing a lot of the lower ratings complain about the "walking noise" or "movement noise" caused by these earphones. This is caused by people not using them properly. The earphones come with an often-ignored clip right by the place where the wire splits up to the two headphones. This clip is designed to slide up and eliminate that noise. I find that if I put the clip about six inches up from where the wire divides into two, the noise from jogging, walking, exercising, etc. is completely eliminated. I would imagine that there might be some variation on this "sweet spot" for the clip depending on your body size, if you put it too close to your neck, it can pop out. I find that you don't want it too tight, but definitely closer to your chin. Now that we've addressed the walking issue, I find these to be the perfect headphones. They block out a very good amount of external noise, come with three sized ear plugs so that you can find the right size so that they won't

Sent these back as soon as I tried them on. The cord makes such a loud sound every time it hits your clothing. Personally, I did not like them. Found a set of in the ear headphones for $9.99 @ Bed, Bath and Beyond that work much better. Amazon credited my account immediately, so thanks!

Firstly, and with no disrespect intended to the other reviewer, if your getting bad bass with these headphones, your doing it wrong.
I personally exclusively use in ear headphones because of my subway commute and need the noise cancellation they provide. I have owned various brand/styles/price range of in ear headphones, and can tell you, for a fact, that every in ear headphone design is based on the latex ear bud making a perfect seal in your ear. Without the seal, the headphones will perform exactly as the reviewer here attested to. But this is not to be confused with a flaw in these particular headphones, but a design quirk of using in-ear models.
I have the utmost confidence in saying that if the person who reviewed these poorly because of the lack of bass were to wear them properly, would see a marked improvement in bass response.
The headphones themselves are an excellent value supplying 2 drivers to create sound and where most in these price range supply

I decided to purchase these headphones to replace the older apple headphones I bought 2 years ago. At first they impressed me with their noise cancelling structure and amazing treble, HOWEVER, as soon as I tried to play a song with bass I returned them...great treble, horrible bass. If you like bass, don't waste your time with this product.

I used this with my 1st Gen iPod touch for about two months before writing this review.
WARNING to potential buyers, the remote capabilities are NOT supported on the 1st gen touch.
Sound: The sound is good. As good as other premium earbuds costing more and less. Sound is very subjective, but if you get a good seal with the buds in your ears you'll get good tight (not exaggerated) bass response and clean (not harsh) high end. I listened to all types of music and spoken material, and all performed really well. Rock was tight with good kick drum and clear guitars. Classical exposed subtle room tones and delicate instrumentation. Podcasts came through with good presence and no harsh sibilance.
Build: This is where these phones suffer. If you are over 6' tall and keep your iPod in your pants while you listen prepare to keep your head from sudden movements. The cord is too short to allow your head to freely move without starting to pull the buds from your ears.

I have purchased Bose, Shure, Seinhauser, Panasonic, and the list goes on. The Apple In-ear Headphones with remote and mic are the best I've owned, and the least expensive of the lot. My Dad lived with us for a few years and the phone is the way we would communicate when he needed to get up at 3:00 a.m. Sleeping with the ear buds allowed me to hear the call, and respond with the mic to let him know I was on my way. The downside of the remote is that (for the iPhone at least) the volume buttons do not seem work.i

As always with apple, every detail is taken care of, especially in the packaging and presentation. The product is very good, comfortable and excellent audio quality.

I've got a couple pairs of Etymotic in-ear headphones. I was really hopeful that these would be a replacement for those, with the benefit of the microphone for my iPhone, and controls for my Shuffle. But these fall short of the Etymotic earphones. The bass definition just isn't there - it seems to fall off more than half an octave above where my Etymotic ER-6 pairs do.
Don't get me wrong. The sound is very good. You WILL be happy with the sound if they're not A/B testing one set and then the other. But if you really like to spoil yourself, even if you get these you'll want to keep an eye on Etymotic to see if they ever get around to releasing a headset with the iPhone mic. (Someday? Please? Grr?)
One tip with the Apple In-ear headphones: Go small on the earbud choices. You get three sizes - try them all and use the smallest that you can comfortably use. Even if the largest earbuds fit, try the next set down. The deeper you can get these into your ears, the better they sound. The bass

Sony MDR-EX71SL Fontopia In-The-Ear Headphones (Black)
I purchased these used on eBay for nearly half of retail MSRP. The reason I went with these was because I enjoyed the look of the all-white buds, the positive reviews and the fact that it contained both a line-in microphone and a volume control. Both features I was looking for in order to use with my first generation iPod touch.
After receiving them today in the mail and plugging them into my iPod, I was disappointed. Firstly, the sound lacks a bit of bass compared to my Sony buds, but otherwise are unremarkable. The buds are quite comfortable and fit in my ears exceptionally well. Secondly neither the microphone nor the volume work with Skype. The microphone can be understood, however, considering the 1st generation touch is running firmware 2.2.1 and can assumingly run 3.0 as well, the lack of microphone support is disappointing to say the least, but, typically Apple behavior. Secondly, the lack of volume support is horrendous.

The reviews for these headphones are pretty mixed, and perhaps I've found the reason why.
I got one of these as a gift from a friend, but ended up selling it since my ITouch died. The piece I sold was very good in sound (as far as IPods are concerned since their sound quality isn't that good to start with), and I didn't notice any of the problems people described in their reviews.
I got myself a new Itouch and also needed a pair of headphones that recorded audio, and since I already knew this model, I bought myself a new pair. What a waste of time that was. The new pair has terrible sound quality - a very muffled bass, anytime the cord touched my clothes clicking noises came up all over the place, and the mid notes were literally painful. Not to say that whenever walking the headphones would stop working completely. I don't know what kind of insulation was used, but Geez. That's unacceptable for 70 dollars.
Unfortunately I lost the receipt, and after much arguing with the seller, I gave

Bought these to use with my iPhone. They're great. Similar quality earbuds run >$100. The volume controls don't work with the phone, but hopefully the next software update will remedy that.

I wish I would have read these reviews before I bought the new Apple in-ear headphones...
I have an iPhone 3G and there is not a day, when I am not listening to some music on it. As an eager Mac fan, checking their site every now and then, I too got excited when I saw the add: "Sounds like you haven't heard everything yet." I thought this must be great and for months I went to stores asking for the headphones.
And today I finally found them (I live in Estonia), bought them with no hesitation and... disappointed. Badly. Took them back.
If you're like me and you've set your equalizer on bass booster and you really enjoy various types of music, then you may very likely be disappointed as well. No matter the artist: Seal, Jay-Z, Bee-Gees (you name it), the overall atmosphere of the sound of the stock headphones sounds so much better.
At first I was euphoric, and while listening to the music, kept on thinking "Oh, this must be great." But after my ears really started hurting (may be

I agree with some of the other reviewers that these could easily sell for twice what they do. The sound quality is very neutral. The only problem I have had so far is that the orifices are so small that even a tiny amount of earwax will clog them. I have to clean my right earphone every few days because of this. That is the only reason I did not give these earphones 5 stars. Otherwise an excellent value for the money. A word of caution for iPhone 3G users. These phones are not made for iPhone 3 G as I was told by personnel at the local Apple Store. As an experiment I connected to the 3G and sound was excessively tinny for some reason and sounded nowhere near as good as the iPod Classic. If you have a 3G I highly recommend the latest Vmoda Vibe IIs made for iPhone. Far superior to these when used on the 3G.

As with Apple's old in-ear headphones, anyone who has given these headphones under a 4-star rating is NOT using them correctly. You MUST use these correctly to get the full effect, or you WILL get poor bass. Based on Apple's specifications, and being fairly sound-educated, these headphones are able to produce a very wide range of frequencies, including the best bass you will find in any affordable in-ears. I have reviewed these headphones coming from proper testing. I tested these headphones coming through a Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer sound card, with the equalizer custom set, the crystallizer all the way up, and other bass/treble settings properly set. In this method, the card is sending out award-winning, studio quality, sound. After saying that, the headphones are absolutely amazing, and rival my full surround sound system. The bass is unrivaled by any other affordable headphones, and the treble is greatly improved from its predecessor.

Very impressed with these!! MUCH MUCH better than the typical iPhone / iPod headphones. Bass response is very, very good. I didn't have any 'cable noise' like a previous reviewer. These are in-ear headphones, they need to be pressed lightly into the ear canal for best use. By far the best headphones I've had yet for my iPhone - I also had the V-Moda Vibe Duos and the bass response and frequency range of the Apple In-Ear Headphones KILLS the Vibe Duos. I'll eBay those... great headphones for the price, highly recommend.

I am a long time audiophile and dedicated headphone/earphone buff. I currently own the top line `phones from most of the major manufacturers including Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, Sony, Etymotic, AKG, AT, etc. I state this only in an effort to establish my bona fides and not to put down the views any other reviewer. This said, let me state unequivocally that I consider these earphones to be an excellent value. Contrary to the previous review, the bass response is both plentiful and very well balanced. However, as with all in-ear-monitors, the seal between the silicone tip and the ear canal is all important. No seal, no bass--it's that simple. These shouldn't be confused with Apple's other, cheaper in-ear model. These are dual driver earphones and offer considerably higher fidelity than most single driver designs. Despite being much cheaper than most other maker's dual driver models, they are the equal of earphones costing twice as much or more. To compare them to iPod earbuds is absolutely
