Garmin nüvi 275/275T 3.5-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic
I boughr a refurbished Garmin 275 T before I left for Italy for a month. When I arrived in Italy, it took a considerable amount of time to "find satalites". I was well into the first week of the trip before it recognized we were no longer in the U.S. It was then able to tell me where we were, but when I went to program it to tell me how to go somewhere, it was impossible. When I hit the "A", B would come up, when I hit the "D", E would come up - making it impossible to imput the name of a town or street. The device was very helpful to have in telling me where I was, especially in Tuscany and Umbria where the roads are twisting and turning every which direction. When I came home, I called Garmin and they were able to calabrate the touch screen over the phone from my laptop. I wish I had known that before I left - it would have been much more invaluable. Another thing to know is that Garmin will update ONE of the maps if you notify them within 60 days of the purchase, BUT IF YOU CALL OR EMAIL THEM THEY WILL UPDATE BOTH THE AMERICAN AS WELL AS THE EUROPEAN MAPS. No questions asked - no hassle.

Just got back from vacation in Spain and France. Very happy with unit both driving and pedestrian modes. Be patient while firing it up first time. It is taking time (up to 20 min.) to find satellite however once it is up and running no problem. I traveled Spain, Andorra and France and was really surprised with unit performance. Would definitely recommend Garmin 275T for travel abroad.

THANK YOU GARMIN !! Just spent 10 days touring France. Could not have been done without this Garmin. Never missed a turn .. Never missed a destination ... got us on the perfect route everytime. Announced all the "hidden" speed trap cameras before we got to them and told me my speed and the speed limit ! And then... it's time for the semi monthly French strike/shut down demonstration. No gasoline. The Garmin saved our lives... showed us where and how to get to the next ( and then the next) gas station as we searched for fuel. Could not have made it without it. I bought this to replace my old one because it had all the new maps and buying the map uploads would have been just as expensive as this new one . But the new one is superior. I rate this a 6 star. Fast satelite uptake. No hidden downside. A must for any travel.

Some trouble in finding the signal but once locked in did well.Surprised to find fairly accurate maps in Europe. Tends to get confused in the narrow and winding streets in Europe and especially doesnot like roundabouts!

Bought to use in Europe. It was good for city to city and for major roads but seem to have problems in smaller towns and roads.

We bought a Garmin for use in the South of France (Provence). While the signal was good, the directions were often poor/unclear, and the voice prompt mispronounced everything (one of the more egregious examples was Rue being pronounced as "Rye" rather than "Roo"). It got us to where we wanted to go (eventually), but not without a lot of frustration. Our friends had a Tom Tom, which proved to be more reliable.

Garmin nüvi 275/275T 3.5-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic
I wanted to get a Garmin that had both Europe and USA because these two are my frequent travel destinations. But I was somewhat disappointed in the way this product led me from Stuttgart to Zurich, which are two main cities. I selected "fastest route" instead of "shortest route" and proceeded to follow the GPS. Based on Google Maps (which had a different routing) i should have taken around 3 hrs to arrive. But with the Garmins routing, I took 4 hours, and it took me thru residential streets and side streets when there was a clear freeway. After 20-30 minutes of side streets, I took out my blackberry and the google maps took me straight to the freeway. So, it took me thru roads with 70-90km/h speed limit, when, parallel to the road, was the Autobahn where there was NO speed limit. Well of course, if I had a choice of driving 50mph or 120mph (legally) I'd choose the faster way!! But the unit was very spot on when it comes to speed limit signs. The moment the speed limit changed, the unit will flash a new speed limit with my speed. So I was very happy with that. Perhaps the only reason it took us thru the routes was the fact that, when there is NO speed limit (autobahn), the speed limit on the unit disappeared. Maybe programming logic assumed a certain slower speed when there is no posted speed limit signs? Hard to say.

Garmin nüvi 275/275T 3.5-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic
I got my Nüvi about 4 months ago when I was in the states visiting family (I currently live in Europe) and purchased it primarily because my older GPS company (whom I should name, but I can't remember the name...maybe I'll add it in an update) wanted to charge me more than was reasonable for map upgrades. The Garmin Nüvi 275 model came standard with all of the Europe (not just Western) maps and all of North America maps pre-loaded for not much more than I would have paid for just the map data upgrade for the old GPS. Additionally, my old GPS couldn't hold more than Western Europe or only parts of the US on its memory card. I could have possibly bought a bigger memory card to accommodate more map data, but then I would have still needed newer maps. So after 4 months I've given the Nüvi a decent run for its money and for a quick BLUF (bottom line up front), I have to say I'm fairly impressed. I'm a fairly comfortable map guy with a decent sense of direction so even when I use a GPS, I tend to have at least a basic mental layout of where I am and where I want to go. I do know people who 100% blindly follow their GPS and though that might work most of the time, they have (at least in Europe) been led on some less-than-direct re-routings (and the occasional dead-end) because of the GPS having inaccurate road data or less-than-clear directions. So, I temper my expectations on what the GPS will deliver and I'm not usually too disappointed. I've used it a bit in the states, substantially in central Europe and even rang it out on the back roads of Crete in Greece. Pros - Good operating interface and easy-to-use touch screen (not too hard to figure out if you have any GPS experience) - MUCH more complete map set than previously offered (on my old GPS anyway) - Nice travel summary statistics (average speed, average time in motion, average time stopped, etc) - Easy to use mounting bracket - Out of the way power plug (on the back of the unit, not sticking out on the sides, where it's easily snagged) - Small and unobtrusive on the dash - The decently low price Cons - Doesn't always calculate reasonable routes (sometimes because of faulty street data) - Not as much information on the main direction/routing screen as I'm used to (distance to destination, altitude, etc...both of which you CAN see but you have to go to different screens to do so) - Have to go through several menu options to switch from 3-D view to "map/overhead" view. I frequently like to zoom out and see the whole route just to see where we are in relation to everything Again, I'm fairly impressed. Maybe all GPS devices have improved leaps and bounds in the last 3-4 years, and I just wasn't aware of it, but this was a substantial bargain (price-wise) over even an updated version of my old GPS. And it does everything I need it too, in a very useable and manageable package. Four and a half stars (loses half a star for the "cons") rounded to five.

Garmin nüvi 275/275T 3.5-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic
Just came back from a 2 1/2 week trip to Europe. Visited Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Slovenia, Croatia and Italy. The maps seemed very accurate and helped me on a number of occasions. It was like having a local with me on my trip. The traffic feature worked sometimes, but at times I was stuck in traffic and it didn't appear on the nav until I was out of it. So this feature should be improved. Also I was never fond of typing on the nav (to search etc). My iPhone is so easy and the nav is much harder. A few times the nav acted wacky but most of the time it was reliable, accurate and dependable. Good value for the price I paid though. Will I keep it forever? Probably not. I will upgrade to a better one in the near future. But for now it's great for the US and Europe.

Pros: European + North America maps
Cons: Price
Little bit expensive, but works great so far! Haven't traveled to Europe with it yet, but plan to in the next 3 months. Hope it works as well there as it does in the US. That's one of the main reasons I bought it was for the European maps.

Garmin nüvi 275/275T 3.5-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic
Pros: Maps for Europe included
Cons: Screen size, hidden volume control
Bought this GPS specifically for an upcoming trip to Germany. Had used built-in GPS systems in rental cars in Europe. They were OK and even though it could be changed to English, all distances were still in kilometers. However, previously owned a Garmin and was very accustomed to their menus. Bottom line - I was very happy with the maps, directions driving around Mannheim, Ludwigshafen areas. Very precise directions and accurate speaking turn-by-turns. Also, used it in the US with real-time traffic enabled. Saved me a few times with suggested detours. Wish the volume control was on the outside vs. accessible only from the menu - an annoyance. Also, although I would have preferred a wide-screen version, the smaller size is perfect for simply placing in your pocket. Bluetooth to my Blackberry worked very well with audio very clear and the caller could hear me clearly. Would definitely recommend.
