I'm very pleased with this product. It does not bog down my system as have previous Norton System Works products. I did have a problem with LIVE UPDATE. Turns out that Windows One Care was blocking it. Nortons tech people fixed it. My only complaint...the wait to reach a technician was LONG.

This is the 3rd time in 5 years of trying out Norton Internet Security for me. Every year prior just wanted to make me scream. I always had a software bug during the installation process, even though my computer is new. After several hours of trying to get 2007 to install, it finally did, but with frequent problems during the usage of it.

But I broke down, after swearing never to use Norton again, and purchased the 2009 version. Wow, what a change to the better! This software has a process during the initial installation download that removes any prior Norton software links in the registry and cleans it up, for the download of the 2009 version. I had to do a manual shutdown, due to this process sticking during the scanning process for an excess of 25 minutes. But when it rebooted, it promptly completed the process and advised that all prior Norton remnants were removed.

As of 1 week of usage, I have no bootup problems, no excessive CPU usage at any time and the internet usage works

I have it loaded on both Windows XP and Vista. It runs fine on both. It updates very quickly and can do scanning in the background as you work on other things. Overall I think this is a very good product. I have used the product for about three weeks now and have encountered no problems.

The new Norton Internet Security 2009 is a substantial improvement over previous versions. Symantec's end goal for 2009 was "Zero Impact". From what I can see, they have pretty much done just that. 2009 monitors your level of activity and initiates updates and system scans around periods of no or low activity. The program has some new features and exhibits fast response. It also has a small installation footprint (less than

I upgraded to the new NIS 2009 and to my surprise it really did install faster than NIS has in the past and when I checked the hard drive space the decrease is very noticeable. I would recommend to experience Norton users and first time customers - its easy and quick and you are secure!

Norton made it!!!!!!!!!!
When would you expect a Norton product install in less than 2 minutes?!?!?!
Answer: Norton Internet Security 2009 made it!!!!!!!!!!
not only that, but it takes NOTHING of ur RAM.

I had NIS 2008 before, and I actually liked it to be honest, it was pretty easy to use, I liked the features, and it wasn't the fastest security suite ever, but it was fast enough in my opinion.

Now, NIS 2009 IS FREAKIN FAST!!!!!!!!!! full computer scan is WAAAAYYYY faster, and as I said, installation took me less than 2 minutes, which I did NOT expect from a Norton product.

Another thing that I really like about NIS 2009 over previous versions of norton is that, before, Norton ran LiveUpdate every 2 days or so, and that sucked cause it would take forever for you to get the latest protection for the latest viruses, which I don't find very safe. And the worst thing was that it opened a window, downloading the updates.
Now, updates run in the background, just like Kaspersky, you don't

For those who don't like to read much and just want to know if this product is worth the money, well this is the best security suit ever created. One thing, I do recommend to create an online Symantec account. Once you log in, you will find some good discounts on other Symantec products.
Now about NIS 2009 itself. First thing what you will notice, is how fast the installation is it took on my laptop about 2min. The previous version took about 30min. NIS 2009's user interface has been overhauled into a sharp, high-contrast and semitransparent screen stripped down to the bare essentials. Which makes very easy to see what going on and use it. Performance wise it's what I like the most. Folks if you even have an old PC with 512MB RAM or the brand new one, it only uses about 3-6MB of memory. It also has anew feature called silent mode, which automatically suspends alerts and updates to avoid interrupting or slowing down games, movies or other presentations. Ones your PC is scanned first time

For awhile Norton products went downhill, they lost a lot of their customers due to bogging down a user PC, which made most look elsewhere for system security, I was one of them that looked at other alternatives, but I took the plunge and bought the new Internet Security 2009, and I must say I'm very pleased with what they did, they made this sucker very responsive, and the interface has a nice elegant look. I looked under my task manager and noticed it takes up about 3 to 6 MB of resources, that's very impressive especially since they include so much with this package. Norton is back in the game after so many years of pain staking slow downs, ESET, AVAST, AVG, TREND MICRO, and others now have something to worry about, because this new version is now doing a better job than the rest, when it comes to speeds. Everyone who is hesitant to go back to this Symantec product should no longer worry, because the new version is a major improvement, If you're going to buy this wonderful software,

I have been using NIS since 2006 for both my desktop and laptop for virus protection. While none of them have given significant problems to me, this is by far the best NIS yet!

Installation: Installation was a real snap. It was amazingly quick. Removal of NIS2008 (automatic) took a few minutes and with one restart the whole installation and live update was finished in under 10 minues (My PCs dont have the latest processors: one is a pentium D 3.0G/1g memory and the other is a centrino 1.8 with 2G memory).

Interface: The interface looks very similar to NIS2008, but more sleek and informative. The phising protection and log=in key cards in your browsers look better than before. much smaller though!

Configuration: NIS2009 retained all my configurations regarding which networks are safe and all other preferences from NIS2008. This was great! I didnt have to reconfigure anything (except the add-on; see below), saving me a lot of time. For new users, there are many options configured by default
