I purchased this to use on two of my home computers and they loaded easily (vista and XP)I have used Norton products in the past, and I was pleasantly surprised by the improvements in this version. As others have noted, the software appears to load faster/not delay boot up, works efficiently in the background, and can be configured to your liking. I primarily bought this for the virus protection. While the "pulse" updating seems like overkill (a marketing tool?), it has worked well for me.
I heartily recommend this to users who have been avoiding Norton due to its "bloated" structure in the past.

I loaded this program in February and it's August now and my computer is working very slowly. I figured out that I am loading a "security risk" after I go into one of my email accounts and have just contact Norton for help with the issue. They told me that I probably do have a virus but that they would charge extra to help me remove it via Internet. Why are they charging extra for doing proving that their product doesn't work? This product doesn't work, the company doesn't stand by their product, and it is literally unsafe to use the product on one's computer.

Excellent price and on-time shipping. Would do business again with this vendor. The only problem is that this Norton product is a resource hog. It works, but it really slows things down, especially reboots. The software gets 4 stars.

This version is advertised, and even reviewed, as a much-needed improvement over previous versions of this and competing products. I'll admit that my experience with antivirus and internet security software is limited, but this, for me, was a horrible experience. The first noticable effect is that many programs (not just web-browswers), slow down significantly (even on a fast dual-core machine). And within days of installation, the program started issuing the following message: "Symantec Service Framework has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." The program then terminated, only to automatically start-up again a few minutes later. It then repeated the same routine - over and over again. Symantec support was clueless - could only suggest removal and reinstallation (which did not fix the problem). They then offered a patch, which would not install. I would strongly recommend AGAINST the purchase of this product.

Small footprint; does not adversely affect system performance. Updates automatically throughout the day (and night). Highly customizable. Can be used to remember passwords for Web sites. Catches many more threats and most of the competition. Highly rated by most experts and deservedly so. I have used Symantec products since Norton Utilities during the DOS days. Delighted to see that their products have again found "the edge."
