I bought this antenna for its aesthetics. I found the shape of it very convenient and, well, beautiful. Since machines so often don't work well and take up more and more of our time as we serve their needs, why not at least have something that looks good? I was able to follow its instructions without frustration, and it did its job scanning and memorizing channels without hurting me. Will it please everyone? I doubt it, but I do live in an area with problem reception and have no complaints in that regard. I honestly can't think of anything negative to say about this particular plastic and silicon divinity.

I live in SF near Sutro Tower and am able to pick up all the locally broadcast stations (the tower is about a mile from my house) in my somewhat obstructed apartment. I cannot, however, get NBC which is broadcast 40 miles to the south in San Jose. Still, I like this antenna because it hangs on my wall behind the TV and you really don't see it. When I want to watch NBC (go Chargers!) I pull out my Terk HDTVa antenna which has better reception but is quite big, especially with the "ears" up. Anyway, if your transmitting tower is not to far and you're going for a muted look I would recommend the RCA 1500.

I just purchased this antenna along with a 15" HDTV Toshiba 15LV506 15.6-Inch Widescreen LCD TV with Built in DVD, White. I purchased the antenna because TVs you buy today do not come with antennas. If you are planning to use the airwaves, you must have an antenna. This antenna promised to bring in a maximum number of analog and digital stations and look unobtrusive. I am not disappointed. Basically a white plastic slab, I was able to place it under my new set on a 20th floor window ledge in my kitchen. Instructions say it works best on it's side and the small tv fit perfectly on top. The antenna came with it's own cable, which is greatly appreciated and did not require an electrical connection. The cable easily hooked up to the tv. Once programmed, my TV brings in 3 analog and 47 digital stations. Everything is sharp and clear. Update 1-05-10: Although it works perfectly in my 20th floor apartment, this antenna did not work adequately in a small basement kitchen in NYC that had

I bought the antenna due to it's unconventional clean look, but I didn't expected much, since I didn't know if it really works. When I first tried it, it was a disappointment since I didn't get that many channels. But I read on another review that I had to rescan the channels. When I did that, I surprisingly got a lot more channels than the bunny ear antenna. So all in all, it works pretty good and better than the ugly bunny ears. One important thing to note is that the position on the wall is very important for reception AND also the wire connecting to the TV does affect reception in a major way.

This antenna works as advertised FOR UHF CHANNELS. This antenna DOES NOT work as advertised FOR VHF CHANNELS. Since I need both - I consider the money spent on it to have been wasted. I suppose antenna size is like automobile engine size: "There is no replacement for displacement".

When I saw this I was excited that it looked nicer than the wire antennas I had anticipated. After setting this up at home my tv found a whopping 4 channels. My brother who lives close to me gets more than that with rabbit ears that probably didn't cost him a dime, and this lovely thing cost me nearly $40. I will be returning this immediately and doing better research before purchasing a replacement. On a positive note, I guess the picture quality is what should be expected with digital tv, although I did witness pixels now and then.

This is a good indoor antenna. but cable included is just 6 feet long. I bought Philips SDV2940 later. but I found better channel results with ANT1500 than Philips SDV2940. I live in an apartment on first floor from 22 mile from NYC. One advantage SDV2940 has it can be installed outdoor as it has 20 feet cable. Still if you live one 2nd floor I would recommend ANT1500. Also check with [...] what you can get.

I bought this antenna because I had bought the smaller RCA ANT1400 and believed this one would work better. The 1400 was rated by RCA as having Great-to-Excellent reception, while the 1500 is rated as having Superior-to-Ultimate reception, so it would seem worth it (especially when it's on sale). The 1500 is bigger and includes a small metal bracket you can use to tilt the antenna at an angle for better reception. At 1st I wasn't too impressed. One would think from reading the packaging, you just sit down the antenna and it will work. You have to really tweak it's position. In one position you'll pick up some channels and lose others and vice versa. I ended up buying a coax coupler and a 4 foot coax cable to attach to the existing cable coming out of the antenna, so I could extend the antenna to a window in my apartment. What an amazing result! I have not had to tweak with my antenna once since I've done that and I'm picking up 25+ channels. I live on the 2nd floor in a garden

I had previously been using a Philips PHDTV1 Silver Sensor UHF/HDTV Digital Indoor TV Antenna for my OTA HD channels. It worked reasonably well, but it required position adjustments to receive certain channels. Plus, this summer, the tree in front of the window where it sits started blocking its reception making some channels not come in at all. I live approx. 15 miles from all the stations in town, most of them in either one general direction, or 180 degrees from that group. When I lived in a 3rd floor apartment, I could also get a bunch of PBS channels that have never come in when I moved to my current house. Also, the majority of the channels here are VHF and only a couple UHF. When I plugged in the RCA antenna, immediately all of my regular channels came in. Including the recently lost channel and all the PBS channels. A couple channels were a little low in strength, but some minor position adjustments gave me all channels with great signal strength. With the bonus that now I have

In use about 2 months. Placed antenna flat in a window using clear packing tape. Perfect, got every channel available. First placed next to the TV inside the room and got most channels, but when placed flat on the window, everything comes in without any adjusting.

This unit performed every bit as advertised on the RCA web-site. I recieve more than double the stations than I did without it. The number of stations recieved will greatlly depend on what is available in a particular area, obstructions, transmission quality, etc. The placement location is critical for best reception. I had to move it around some in order to get better reception. This unit will work fine for receiving transmissions up to a max of 30-40 miles. For greater distance, investigation of another unit would be required. I live in an urban area with a lot of obstruction, aircraft traffic, etc. and still get good reception. The reception quality is as good as any digital signal from a satellite system (which I used to have). Investigation still has to be done to pick the proper antenna for the situation. This is an excellant unit for my application.

This antenna picks up less stations than plain rabbit ears -- even in the UHF spectrum where rabbit ears are horrendous. I've tried several lower priced indoor antennas. None of them stood out. All of them (except this one) performed a bit better than plain rabbit ears. This antenna performed MUCH worse. I tested it in many locations, in many different positions throughout my house and was stunned by the lack of signal. Do not buy. You have been warned. Very easy return through Amazon. I love you guys!

After owning rabbit antennas for so many years, this is a welcome style. I got this for a Zenith TV that's about 10 years old. I'm not sure if it's the switch to HD or this antenna but the picture is stunning! Just like having cable. It's a little tricky to set up the channels for your area but other than that, it's a wonderful product. You never have to move it when you change channels, perfect picture every time.

Bought this antenna to pair with a digital converter box. Once connected, scanning from the digital converter tells me 11 channels found. When trying to watch on TV, only two channels really have signals, and both of them are very weak and the pictures on TV are frozen. This item is not worth the money.

I'm about 12 miles from my digital TV towers and wanted to upgrade from UHF only to UHF/VHF since two of my locals are now on VHF. I was using a plain stick antenna and got every channel in UHF, but this thing got nothing in either band. I tried orienting it every which way and still nothing. I actually resolved my issue by pulling the antenna off an old tube TV that was in my alley. Got every channel, no problems. This thing looks good, but isn't worth the money.

I have owned this antenna for about two months, and I love it. It picks up every single digital channel in my area, and many from very far away. It is solidly built and easy to use and unlike most "rabbit ears" antennas it won't tip over or poke anybody in the eye. I recommend this for everyone!

I tried one of these because it was more discreet than rabbit ears. I actually got much better reception with a homemade antenna that cost me $1 to make, than I did with this one. If you live in a metro area, this will probably work ok, but if you are more than 15 miles from the broadcast location, you will need something better. Sorry, but this antenna was totally worthless to me.

Bought for an analog TV (Zenith 32") I don't use to often. Live about 2 miles from a major transmission tower and tried a Radio Shack inexpensive antenae which brought in a good number of channels but some I had been receiving were not coming in so I tried this one. It actually did not increase channel reception or picture so I stayed with the Radio Shack. I was going to return it but a friend had not set up a converter box for her small screen TV ( 13" Emerson ) so I set up her box and used this antenae just to see if it would work. On this set the reception and picture was fantastic with this antenae. I was very impressed. This home is about 5 miles from the major tower and has some terrain issues inbetween so I thought this was remarkable. I would certainly recommend this antenae but in seems to depend on the set as much as the location. Try it as the high end and also try the less expensive one to see which works best with your set and location. I plan on testing the Apex amplified

I bought two antennas - Terk HDTVs slim profile (outdoor) and this RCA. They are both made by Audiovox and square shaped. Terk is about twice as wide. The RCA's reception is about 80% - 90% of the Terk from the same spot indoors, which is pretty much what I expected. Nevertheless, the RCA is cheaply constructed. It needs rubber feet so that it doesn't slide easily. It also needs a detachable coax cable instead of a built-in light-gauge 6 footer. With the built-in cable, you lose the flexibility of attaching a longer and heavier-gauge cable. Oh, by the way, it's only 10" x 10" x 5/8" which isn't that large.

the reason why most people still cannot pick up many channels is because the televison stations have not fully transition their broadcasting to digital until june 12

I purchased this after reading many reviews that said it was the best. It was a total waste of money. I purchased a much cheaper antenna by RCA with the tuner dials and it works far better than this ever did.

This antenna may work good in a city environment, but trying to get a signal inside the house from a repeater 30 miles away only gives static, even for the strongest channel which almost comes in.

I bought the little Haier 7" Digital TV in late January for my upstairs bathroom, but with the included rabbit ear antenna, it picked up diddly squat. So I tried an external amplified rabbit ears setup, but it was barely better. I could get maybe 11 channels, only 2 of them digital and them only with absolutely perfect weather. I live on a hilltop between Baltimore and Washington, so I should get a LOT more channels than that. So I bought this RCA ANT1500. I had to experiment with the placement a little (horizontal, vertical, different wall orientations), but I'm now getting 34 channels, most of them digital. Baltimore's HD TV channel 2.1 even looks like HD on that itty bitty screen, with all the data scrolling across the bottom of the screen during the morning newscasts completely clear and legible. I am absolutely completely satisfied.

I live about 40 miles from Chicago and with this antenna cannot get anything more than the 4 different "flavors" for the local PBS station, NBC and Fox. My neighbor gets ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and several more. I borrowed his atnenna and it pulls in all of his stations and 4 more! I'm returning this product to Best Buy...

I was first concerned about ordering this antenna due to some of the low reviews here. The antenna was to go along with a new Sony 19" LCD TV for my kitchen so I wanted something that wasn't going to be too ugly like the old fashioned rabbit ears that I use on another LCD TV in my house.
Well to my surprise it's better then the rabbit ears! If you do have any receptions issues, just move it around slightly to find the best reception. I found that when the antenna was sitting right next to the TV that it didn't have as good of reception as when I moved it about six or so inches away from the TV. But like I said it has better reception then the rabbit ears I also have. Plus this antenna does not require that it gets plugged in as some digital rabbit ears require.
I plan on ordering another one for my other LCD TV.

I am very impressed with this antenna. I set up my new box and attached this antenna and started my scan. It picked up all the channels in the Phoenix, AZ area with the exception of one. But since I don't speak Spanish it is not a big deal for me.
All the channels come in crystal clear even with a storm in the area. I am glad I bought this.

RCA ANT1500 Large Multi-Directional Digital Flat Passive Antenna (White)
I bought this RCA ANT1500 for my new LCD digital TV., since this product is advertised as multi-directional, eliminates constant adjustments, outperform traditional antennas due to patented design. I received my order the next day.
The RCA ANT1500 does not work as advertised. I tested it with my digital TV and my analog TV : it works no better than my rabbit antenna, or worst by giving flurry

we live in a TV market that had lots of VHF and UHF broadcast stations. never needed cable because you could watch 15+ stations for free.
Last year we bought the HDTV and the reception went from crystal clear to lousy. if it rained the reception was bad, if it was windy, if a plane flew over....if you walked too close.....etc.
this was with the rabbit ears that had worked for decades. I bought two different amplified rabbit ear antennas and one was OK, but ugly and still very sensitive. plus we lost a 4 channel UHF signal from outside of town.
Got this antenna, took it out of the box and it has been great. Occasionaly there is a bit of a stutter, but 99% improved. Looks nice, doesn't need to be plugged in, moved, adjusted, etc. It is actually sitting on the floor behind the cabinet. It really works! Over 20 stations coming in great.

No complaints about seller. They did a good job.
The antenna is just not very good. I found that rabbit ears work just as well. After some research I found that it boils down to the laws of physics-an antenna this small can't do a good job. I built a DIY antenna from easy instructions found all over the net. Just search for "DIY DB4" if you're interested. I plugged this home-made thing in and rescanned the channels. It's amazing how many channels were missed by the reviewed antenna and now come in strong. The stations are located within 15 miles.

This antenna is a piece of plastic and USELESS. Do not buy this antenna folks it doesn`t work. I changed locations, turn it around, point it to South North East West, UP or DOWN ,point it up, point it down and still NOTHING. The worst antenna i`ve ever bought. I returned it to BEST BUY and use my regular rabbit antenna that i bought for $6 .

We are in Kansas City, within 3.5 to 7.7 miles of most of the transmitters we are receiving from, except 1 UHF station 44.1 miles away. We are on a relatively high point in the city respective to them, although on the other side just below the top of the hill. All of them, analog and digital, come in crystal clear, without any interference. We have it lying flat on top of a television armoire about six feet plus above the ground, in the corner of the room by two windows, west facing and south facing. The directions of the transmitters are (on the compass) at 33, 46, 49, 81, 135, 344, 351, and 354 degrees. We cannot determine any of them are any clearer tan the others. It is a fantastic antenna.
As usual with these things, your milage may vary depending on terrain, relationship to transmitters, and a host of other factors.

Well its good for LCD TVs at 720p such as my Samsung 32 inch LCD TV. Its a 3 series 330. Works well I get all my local channels (Fox, Nbc, Abc, cbs, etc.) all in HD. It takes a second to hook up and is very durable. Don't move Antenna while TV is on other while the screen gets all messy. I mean also the price $60! I mean common would it hurt to make this $20 RCA! I mean the DTV is now coming in June wouldn't it be good for everyone to have 480i SDTV picture? Also the cord comes tied up in the box and when you unravel it, it still is in a weird form hard to describe which messes with the placement of this box. Also do not set anything on top of this. Set this on the very top of everything. Its good it works and you can tell comcast no more $5 for HD or locals. So in 12 months you get your investment back if you have cable or satellite. In your face comcast and DirecTV you should give us HD locals free since we pay $70-$100 a month for you anyways!

Originally I had this setting on top of my television and I was receiving a good signal , but I knew there were several more stations available (check antennaweb_org click on choose and antenna to see what stations are available to your location.) I have this attached to a Zenith DTT901 convertor box going to a 1992 Sony television.
So I added a 10' coax extension to get the antenna in font of a large window in my apartment. I now receive 14 more stations (for a total of 31) 40 to 50 miles away.
I was a little unsure if this was going to work well for me when I realized it was not amplified. I am very pleased with this purchase.

I have this antenna connected to a Haier 7" LCD digital TV (very popular right now). I've tried a few other antennas, and this one is by far the best in terms of reception. I actually have the antenna tucked away on the floor between a bed headboard and a wall, where you wouldn't expect it to pick up many channels, but right now it's picking up about 30 (I'd say about an 8 analog / 22 digital split), and they're all coming in very well. No other antenna could pick up more than about 15 channels, several coming in poorly or not at all.
I'm no expert in this field so I can't say whether your experience would be worse where you live (I'm in the suburbs), but I can recommend that you at least give it a shot.

After helping a few people convert to digital set-ups, this antenna has turned out to be my indoor workhorse of choice.
Probably most useful for those who currently have set-top loop/rabbit ears and are having trouble with some digital stations breaking up as a function of time, weather, or movement of people in the room.
In 3 of 4 cases (in two different suburban broadcast markets), the RCA ANT1500 eliminated the fluctuations, producing stable results over time, once positioned. The 4th case, a basement TV, has always needed a roof/attic antenna, though the ANT1500 came close, providing stable OTA DTV reception for all but one channel.
In each 100% successful case, DB4 (Antennas Direct) and Winegard SS3000 models were tried first -- I have been trying to get rid of them ever since they didn't work for my personal set up. And I still have not found a situation where the SS3000 provided viable performance.

I had installed a digital converter box for my bedroom which in the past has gotten limited/fuzzy reception picking up an analog signal using standard rabbit ears. I knew once I installed the digi converter box the reception would be worse or non-existent (which it indeed was), so I bought the RCA ANT1500 after being advised that it was a few notches above rabbit ears. I have been very pleased with this antenna which picks up all of the digi channels perfectly despite my simply having laid the antenna on top of the TV. I really can't believe how well it works. I definitely recommend this product for anyone who is ready to transition from set-top rabbit ears for picking up analog signals, to a higher quality antenna which is necessary for picking up digital signals via their digital converter box or digital television.

Looked like this would work for suburbs in the store, but signal too weak or poorly shield cable cause sound reception pause and image to pixelate and stop. Analog signal images had snow, but no interruption. Might work with amp, but not if cheap coax is the cause. Looks like a $20 to $30 antenna (circuit board, coax and plastic housing plus u shape bar to stand it up). This one goes back to the store.
Previous RCA 10" TV with single extending pole (one half rabbit ears) did about as well as RCA ANT1500 hooked up to 19" HDTV.

I have a cheaper RCA ant that I paid $20 for and it picks up stations better than this ant. Don't waste your time or money, you can get better ant for less money. I am returning this ant today and will try another one.
My rating is compaired to my current ant which I would so far rate 3 stars overall.

It was extremely easy to set up. As soon as I connected it to the Dtv box and turned the box onto set up, it picked up 38 channels right away.
I was having a problem with the rabbit ears picking up ABC and WNET (PBS), and this antenna picked up both right away.
Only problem is PBS disappears sometimes so I do have to reposition the antenna at times.
Other than that, GREAT ANTENNA! Picked up 13 more channels than RCA1450 that I bought in March.

The compact design enables placement of unit to be used in tight spaces. The unit comes in white, which could be painted to match decor. My space requirements would not allow a convention dipole antenna to be extended or positioned for best digital reception. Once this unit is placed for best reception all digital channels over air came in perfectly.I was surprised that a antenna the size of spiral bound note book could have such great performance. This unit is placed in a location that is 12-15 miles from most stations transmission.

Not sure why this antenna doesn't get better reviews from others but this antenna works absolutely PERFECT on my Sharp Aquos tv. I get all the channels I want (2.1, 4.1-4.4, 5.1, 7.1-7.3, 9.1, 11.1, and 31.1) except for the PBS ones. Not sure why they are hard to get. Now I only use the antenna to access digital channels so what little I've seen on the VHF stations you are probably better with another antenna. But if digital HDTV is what you want then this is perfect for you!
TIP: I know the box says you can lay this puppy flat on a shelf but I found it works best if you hang it on the wall (Mine is behind the Sharp LCD HDTV) as high as you can without it blocking anything. Mine is set up about 6 1/2 feet off the floor on my wall and that gets me perfect reception (Minus PBS stations). Now I know this antenna may seem pricy but you really do get the best reception for digital TV, a item that blends into the room, and something that does not require to be plugged in like some other

We bought the RCA flat panel antenna at the same time we bought a second digital converter box. We have an older Phillips amplified antenna that we use on the main TV. It works pretty well, but does not bring in all the channels we could get.
The RCA antenna worked pretty well on analog signals, but did not bring in as many digital channels as the older Phillips antenna. We only got two digital signals for channels we would watch, whereas with the Phillips antenna we get 12. For the two digital channels this did bring in, I could only get one at a time. I had to move the antenna to a completely different location to get the second signal.

I've two HDTVs; one in living & another in ma bedroom. SO, to start - all I had was just one HDTV antenna (from RCA as well but base model which cost me @ $10 from Best Buy earlier) which I tried to work in for ma bedroom TV but due to too many walls and corner place that portable "V" shape antenna didn't seem to work at it's fullest.
But this one did it for me (except it's price!) and I threw the old one out in the living room, which like usual worked 100%

Let me start by saying you need to take all these reviews with a grain of salt, as each circumstance is unique - and may or may not apply to your situation. There are SO many variables, you just never know whether a product will work for you.
I have an HDTV and an old bedroom TV, both currently using amplified antennas with mediocre results. I bought the ANT1500 for a basement TV, based on good reviews, hoping that it might possibly work. I was not terribly optimistic, based on the fact that that analog signal in the basement produces a grainy, less than satisfying picture.
Imagine my delight when I placed the ANT1500 as high as I could between some floor joists and two galvanized heat ducts, connected it to a converter box and wala! 11 channels, locked in as good or better than my TV's upstairs.
I was stunned, and have ordered another to see if it can improve the other TV's. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Needed local channels to come in HD so I could watch football. This product did the job. When I set it flat the strength was OK, about a 75. However, when I flat-mounted it to the wall above the TV the strength increased to 90-95 on all local channels. Pretty impressive for such an easy set-up.

I got this antenna as a test to find out if I should get an outdoor antenna. I was amazed at the channels I received, and now going to order the db4 and get rid of my dish network. What people have to understand is you can not just buy any antenna and think it will work great. There are many considerations. antennaweb.org will help greatly, the more yellow you see, the better off you are, please check this site before you even consider an indoor antenna.

We are pretty close to broadcast locations, but this antenna does not get all the signals clearly. I have tried multiple locations near the TV and also tried flat & standing positions. It just doesn't seem to work very well. Rabbit ear device was just as good if not better at getting more stations. It is a nice design, but I can't recommend it.

I bought this antenna for its appearance. It is compact, easy to place, and unobtrusive. I placed it flat on a shelf near the HDTV and no one notices it (it has a handy bracket if you wish to stand it upright). To my great delight, when I turned on the TV the picture was crystal clear -- all that HDTV/digital TV is supposed to be, and without cable boxes or ugly rabbit ears. It has strong stable reception for digital tv stations as far as 35 miles away, so I strongly recommend it for urban areas. I would not recommend it for stations more than 40-miles distant. In short, this antenna is a great combination of function and form.
