A nice compact lens that fits the bill. It may not have spectacular bokeh (octagons, not circles), but the size and low light capability makes it worth the money.

I bought this lens with the expectation that it really was for all SLR cameras, but when I tried to use the higher f/stops, it would not lock or even let me take the photo, sending me an error message, that it needed to be locked. When I looked at the manual it stated, that it was compatible with most Nikon DSLR cameras, except for (Nikon D5000, D3000, D60, D40, F3AF), the box even indicates that this lens is for D-Series Nikon cameras.

It is so nice to finally have a super-fast lens to use inside in low light. I am now able to capture what I am actually seeing instead of having to use a flash or get blurry images. Super fast, quick focus, great lens!

Great little lens. Very light-weight. Large aperture for selective focus and low light situations. Stops down to f/22 for great depth of field. Sharp focus.

Bought this to go with my new D7000 instead of the kit lens. I'm very happy with it so far. <br ><br >I haven't done a bunch of testing with it yet, but currently it appears that it has better clarity and color when stopped down just slightly -- however, that may not be a fair trial because I was outdoors in the currently snow-covered midwest.<br ><br >It's a good lens at a good price point and will be in my bag for regular use.

great lens for everyday shooting in most situations. Especially in low light. Better value<br >than most any lens you can find. I picked it for a d90 based system and went with Ken Rockwell's<br >(and others') recommendation. Enjoying every shot.

I bought this lens for my Nikon D60 but when I brought it home I realized, it will not autofocus. I had to return it for this reason. I don't know how the lens works on other cameras, but just make sure if you have a D40 OR D60, this lens WILL NOT AUTOFOCUS.

This lens was the &quot;best buy&quot; (cute huh?) for my D90. The image that the 1.8 aperture can deliver is really sharp. Very versatile for indoors and outdoors; low light or bright light, it works for both. If you want a cheap, high quality, mobile lens, this is a must have for the Nikon.

I used this lens for portrait, the picture is very sharp (start at f2.8), nice bohek bokeh and excellent in lowlight. but the material of lens body looks cheap but anyway I can say this is worthy lens.

Unfortunately this lens do not autofocus with my D40, so it takes a bit of getting use to in terms manual focus. Overall the lens is feels tough and I will definitely use it more once I am faster with manual focus.

This was a great lens. Very sharp photos, even in low light thanks to the f1.8 aperture. Only problem was that, even though Best Buy's site says it is compatible with all Nikon SLR cameras, it would not auto-focus with my D40x. Looking through the manual for the lens, I found that this lens will not auto-focus with all models. So, unfortunately I had to return it. Check Nikon's website before buying to be sure it will work for you.

I am very satisfied with the pictures this lens can produced. Only one thing to point out it doesn't have auto focus for me is not an issue but for some people it might be. I highly recommended.

This is the best lens ever! It makes the most awesome portrait photos with incredible color and sharpness. I wish I had bought this a long time ago. It would have made my life so much easier.
