This nano receiver is very small, you plug it in and you tend to forget its there and it doesn't get in the way if you have a laptop on the go. When you use the mouse for the first time, it is very sensitive. But you can always change the sensitivity in your computer to your desired setting. The mouse can be used on any surface ranging from wood, plastic, metal surfaces, anything except glass surfaces. The battery life depends on your usage. As I mentioned this mouse has this feature that turns itself off after a period of inactivity thus saving your battery. I also turn off my mouse when I shut down my computer, also saving battery. So battery life can vary upon usage. It uses two AA batteries. I have used this mouse on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 and works on all three operating systems. All you have to do is plug it in and wait for the computer to recognize the device and enjoy. This mouse only has three buttons, a left, right and scroll button. It's a very simple mouse, no side buttons. The mouse also can open thus allowing for the receiver to fit inside. It's very convenient since you are prone to lose the receiver since it's very small. The negative aspects also depends your usage, it's inconvenient for me to turn on my mouse when I start up my computer and remembering to turn it off when I shut down. I do this to save battery life. I bought this here at amazon.com when there was a $10 mail in rebate offer. So I purchased it for under $30.
