Cradlepoint is the only company I could find that made something like this as it is a niche market, but this router worked perfectly right out of the box. I plugged in the Verizon UM175 USB modem and it connected without any effort on my part. Plus the built-in firewall allows me to configure this just the way I needed. I would buy it again (I only wish the cost was lower).

Using an old sprint sierra 5950u usb card in the basement.
Home desktop wired in through lan.
Printer with ethernet wired it.
Various work computers / laptop used elsewhere in the house through wifi.

Setup is amazing!
Attached card to router, provided power, attached to desktop, turned on desktop....that's it ! Instant access. No worries.

WIFI setup of router and laptops for access seemed tricky to me...because this was the first time for me to try this and I had no idea what I was doing...but it all worked and from then on....there was nothing to do but turn on the computers and start using them.

over the past few years.. I have tried belkins, a few series in linksys, dlinks, netgears routers.. So far this unit has the best range hands down..

Some other companies that make good wireless routers for homes and small businesses are 3COM, motorola, and sonicwall that I have also used.

I also like the feature of authenticating my PC to the wireless without 802.1x.

I also has wpa2 personal dual modes.. which is very nice because some devices not support AES or wpa2..

I've had this model router for almost a year now, and my experience with it has been excellent. I'm on my second MBR-1000 after the first was replaced with out question by Cradlepoint due to a firmware issue. So far this has been the most satisfying ownership experience when it comes to routers. Kind of a set it up and forget it kind of product, and I like that a lot.

I was in the market for a wireless router to connect several other household computers, and after reading mixed reviews on most other routers, I settled on this one because it had the best reviews of them all, and I can only think of one word to describe this router - awesome!

I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get a good signal to one of the computers, because it is located in the basement on the opposite side of the house as the router which is on the second floor, but I was amazed to see that the computer picked up a good strong 4 bar signal all the way down there. I'm very impressed. This router is a beast!

It's also very easy to install. The instructions are straight forward, and very simple. I was worried because I have no experience with setting up wireless connections, but this was so easy that I could almost do it in my sleep.

The only drawback is the price, but in my opinion, it's worth every penny.

Overall, this router gets a 5 star rating.

This is hands down the best home/SOHO router I have ever purchased, and I work in the IT industry and have used every major brand. It has lots of configuration options, its very stable, never needs to be rebooted, and the customer support is great. Cradlepoint releases new firmware very regularly, and they actually add features that customers request. This router should support 4G cards with the next firmware release too. Note that this is Cradlepoint model # MBR1000 (didn't see it listed in BB description). This router may cost a bit more than the other top-of-the-line brands sold at BB, but its worth every penny if you value quality, functionality, and reliability.

The MBR1000 does exactly what Cradlepoint says it will do, and I will say that it provides a great 300mbs consistantly. I'm one of those people who is held captive by lack of good high speed internet. Comcast comes within 1000ft of my home but refuses to wire any further unless each house on the block pays them $2800 each to lay the lines, ditto for AT&T supplying DSL.
So in order to get a decent internet speed I had to use the Verizon WiFi setup which required the MBR1000 to provide service inside my house. The MBR is set up for very nearly every WiFi USB modem you can think of and the list is constantly being up graded unlike with Kyocera's products.

We have a few new generations routers in use. All work well, but this is a standout because of the ease of setup and the fact you can use your aircard with it. It has great signal strength and doesn't seem to slow anything down. While a bit high priced, it's worth it if it fits your needs. We use in in our motorhome while on the road and parked. It's perfect for this when used with the 12v adaptor while traveling. Sitting out in the great outdoors doing email or checking on the latest news. The way life should be.

This product is awesome, I used to have the cradlepoint PHS-300 which solely creates a Wi-Fi hotspot but I was not able to use it as a router. This Product is amazing I have had it setup in my apartment using a Sprint Broadband card for 2 months and not dropped a connection once. I canceled my home internet and only use the card. It rocks and gives me the ability to hook all my gadgets up to my broadband card. Currently I have a Slingbox, Laptop, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and my smartrphone from time to time. I have never had a problem. This is a must buy for a broadband card user.

This item is totally worth it. I would tell anyone to buy it. Does what it says and allot more. Great for home or business.

After being hesitant at first, I got it home, tried it out, became one with it and started sailing the internet and felt secure and my laptop felt protected.

By the way the price, worth while investment but wish it was lower.

Since we live in the middle of no-where we had no way of getting a decent internet provider. So we went ahead and bought Verizon's broad band card/usb service and connected it to the Cradlepoint router and we had wireless high speed internet throughout the whole house. Set up was really easy but the price for the router was a little high. Overall a great set up and a must buy if you live in the sticks and cant find a good internet provider.

I got this router for my home because i have 3 people in the household that have computers and i own a sprint laptop ev-do card which i have to share and plug into each ones laptop and froward the connection.
With this router i was able to use my laptop card on 3 computers without having to remove a card.
The setup was excellent I just plug my laptop card into my router and go through the setup process in the router and when i was finished it connected right away! This was easy to even encrypt the signal and connect to.
it works not only for laptop card but cable/dsl modems too!
it is N based and very fast.
The only thing is it cost way too much for a basic router but sure beats cable/dsl service when i can use just my cellular phone or modem.
