The DVD player works well. The first one came with a remote that wouldn't work. I was sent a new replacement unit, both remote and player. That is fine. Excellent service of a defective part on original shipment. The service wins future business.

The DVD player seems very satisfactory, except that it is noisy; not to a great degree, but more than one of this quality would have. That makes it seem overpriced. I could recommend it, but only with this note. Vendors response was superb in timing and delivery.

Had this a few weeks now. Plays dvd's beautifully. Plays music cd's with no problem, but I just discovered it will not play high definition dvd's as advertised and am disappointed. Some dvd's make a loud noise when being read making the machine sound like it's going to take off when coming to the root menu but plays silently otherwise. Easy to set up and operate. Remote did not come with batteries, and would not work at first but I think it was just cold. Works fine now.
All in all, not a bad little machine.

This DVD player is great for the value. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but it has played every DVD I have put in it, and done it flawlessly. And as always, the service from Overstock.com is outstanding.

I was worried about ordering electronics sight unseen but there was no need to worry. The DVD player is perfect,Its easy to use , great picture, the player came to the house much sooner then I expected and it was exactly what it said it would be. Awesome value. Easy to purchase thru pay pal.

My DVD player stopped working and I immediately went to Overstock.com to find a replacement. The Philips DVD player is wonderful. I could see the difference between my old player and the Philips player right away when I viewed a DVD with this machine. The resolution is amazing and the ease of use is perfect. I am completely satisfied with my purchase. Of course, Overstock.com is my best friend when it comes to quality and bargain in all catagories.

This is a very sleak looking product. Wors well.. Only reason I did not do 5/5 is that is takes a bit long for dvd drawer to open. There is a delay to it. otherwise it is a great value

I am mostly happy with this purchase. I couldn't beat the quality for how much I paid. There were two small problems however, the AAA batteries for the remote were not provided and when I was going through all the menu features it had a disc lock feature that I accidentally activated and could not deactivate even with the help of the manual. This feature seems great if you have kids that you don't want watching certain movies, however I have found it extremely annoying. Other than that I'm very happy with this product.

I own several DVD players and this unit is one of the best. HDMI makes hook-up a breeze. Controls are no more complicated than any other and actually offer a few extra bells and whistles. I use it for DVDs and CDs and the quality for both is excellent. I'm using this particular unit with a 37" HD LCD TV w/ a surround sound stereo system. The unit gives true progressive scan picture quality and the HD upscale feature produces a near HD image. I've been impressed with Phillips/Magnavox Video endevours in the past couple of years having bought a HD LCD TV and another progressive scan DVD player prior to this unit. I love HD technology but this progessive scan player works wonderfully and will do me just fine until manufactures get off their high horses and bring HD DVD players prices down to earth.

Good quality, especially for the price. The only concern I have is that it seems really brittle, and I never seem to press the buttons hard enough (spec. the "eject" button- which can be pretty annoying).
Also, it's a little slow in repsonding.

I could not be happier with my purchase. The price was unbeatable, the shipping was extremely fast and the quaity of the product is great. Exactly what you would get in the store but without the hassle of crowds, not in stock, open box buy only, etc. I will definitely continue shopping with Overstock.

I just got this dvd player to go with my refub 37" Philips LCD that I bought at a good price from Overstock. I bought this player because it was pretty much the cheapest HDMI player I could find. I hooked up the HDMI (had to buy my own HDMI cable) but unfortunately you can't get digital coax audio output with HDMI until you upgrade the firmware to atleast v2.24. My player had v2.20 so I downloaded v2.27 from the Philips site. Took about 15 mins total of which 5 mins were to flash it. Then all you do is change the audio setting from PCM to ALL while the player isn't playing a disc.
Overall the player seems good for the price although it feels a little chinsey, especially in regards to the disc tray smoothness when it opens and closes. The remote is no frills and is very tiny but after a bit of use I found it quite functional. Fairly good all things considered, although I have yet to test the HDMI video vs Component vs CBVS to see if there is really a big difference in video quality. This
