I purchased this as an easy alternative to larger video cameras. I was really looking at the Flip, but the price on this one was better, and I thought it would probably be good enough. But I was not happy with the Vado. The video quality is fair, at best. The zoom is very poor and really not even worth using. The playback on the Vado itself has very poor sound quality, but when uploaded to the computer, it is somewhat better. At my daughter's recent concert, my sister used her regular digital camera (not a camcornder, just a point & shoot camera) to video tape it, and I used the Vado. My sister's camera did a much better job than the Vado. Her sound quality was better, the picture crisper and clearer than the Vado. And since the room was somewhat dark, the Vado's picture was very dark and fuzzy. My sister's camera captured my daughter perfectly in the spotlight. I was disappointed with the Vado. If you are looking for a fun camcorder to use for video email or You Tube , you should be pleased with Creatives VADO.
I own the Flip Ultra, the Flip Mino HD, as well as a VADO.
VADO is similar to the Flip Ultra, with a larger screen, and rechargeable battery. Picture quality is about on par with the Flip Ultra, but not as crisp as the much more expensive Flip Mino HD, or probably the VADO HD version.
The regular VADO is a breeze to use - just charge it and you are ready to shoot. Great for on-the-spot moment,and even better if you pre-plan and frame a scene.
If you have been wondering about video email -- try this! Friends and family far away or overseas enjoy short video clips. And why not use this for business too? I can easily imagine a video clip being of use for a job interview or resume.
Might even be the unique boost you need, to put you at the top of the list. This is high-tech the way it should be - Jetson's style EASY!

I wanted to find out if the new Creative Labs Vado Pocket Video Camcorder (Silver) was better than the Flip Video Mino Series Camcorder (Black) or the Flip Video Ultra Series Camcorder (Black). I myself am surprised by the answer I came up with. The real answer may be, "none of the above."
While all three are *good* devices for what they do, I am still searching for my perfect digital camcorder to come out at the right price. The short answer is the quality of video and audio on the Flip Mino is noticeably better than the Creative Vado, even when it's at its highest setting. However, for most users, the Creative Vado will probably meet your expectations at a much better price than the Flip Mino. The Mino's recent price drop makes the decision slightly harder, but there's still enough of a price difference to make the Vado attractive.

This is a relatively simple to use camcorder. The problems that I have with it are mainly about the operating system.
1) There is no menu to allow you to scan through the videos stored in memory. Instead, you have to press play, and then skip through to the video you want to watch.
2) Accessing the preferences to change the recording quality or to set the date/time is a bit of a pain. It requires simultaneously pressing the play and delete buttons, but only when you are standing by to record rather than watching videos.
3) Transferring files to my computer is quite easy, just like retrieving files from a flash drive, but Quicktime couldn't play the files properly without downloading an additional component. That is a minor issue, and it was handled in a few minutes, but it was a mild nuisance.
4) The microphone is not very good. It doesn't pick up sounds unless they are relatively loud, and the sound quality is relatively poor.

I like this little gadget. It's small, durable, and does the job it's supposed to. I ordered this to be sent to my brother's house and found my nephew using it way more than me!
The video was about on par with my CanonSD500 digital camera. Also, I use iSquint to change the format from avi to mpg. To me, perhaps the advertised price could be a little cheaper, but for the job it's a great addition.

What to say about this thng?
I really did like it at first, and I can say that i still do. its nice to have when im on the go and dont wanna bring the whole huge video camera things. but it doesnt have much quality to it.
It is, however, great for putting videos on photobucket and youtube! so if it was madea little better, i would be happier. :)
