I was under the mistaken impression that I would be able to use this adapter to play my GH, GH2, and GH80's by using my PS2 GH guitar controller on my PS3...errrr...WRONG! Try as I might, it doesn't work that way.
Now, if you want to use your old PS2 guitar controller on your PS3 to play GH3...ding! YOU WIN! Works great for that! Can't complain there, except that I have some very nice and lovely wireless guitar controllers that work just fine! So, if only I'd have read the fine print, I suppose, that's the moral to the story.

This product is a great alternative to buying another $50-$60 guitar. I already owned two PS2 guitars and then had a third guitar when I got Rock Band. The last thing I wanted was to buy a forth guitar. This adapter is a great solution. It allows me to use the PS2 guitar with Rock Band. In fact, I like it better than the Rock Band guitar because of the "click" when strumming. My only complaint is it is a little difficult to activate star power, but after a while you learn to deal with it. Also, you do lose the second set of fret buttons, menu navigation buttons, etc. but that isn't any fault of the adapter (obviously).
As for compatibility, I've tested and it works with PS2 versions of GH1 and GH3 on the PS3. However, GH2 for the PS2 does not work when using this adapter on the PS3. So unfortunately, it seems I will still be forced to hang on to the old PS2 (which sucks because the only reason I bought the more expensive version of the PS3 was so I could get rid of the PS2).

Things would have been much easier for PS3 rockers if Activision didn't block compatibility of their PS3 Les Paul for Rock Band, but at long last, there's a solution for those that don't like the Stratocaster.
I feared that this would be a letdown like the Pelican adapter but it works great. I've played 3 songs on Rock Band with the adapter and there are no real issues. Hammer-ons and pull-offs work as they should. The only knock is that star power/overdrive takes a few seconds to activate because it's a different mechanism than the PS2, which is not the adapter's fault. That's more than acceptable for me.
Overall, I love this product and it relieves a lot of frustration from the Stratocaster. At one point I thought of getting a 360 just so I could use the Guitar Hero controller but I'm really glad I didn't. As a bonus you can play Guitar Hero 1, no 80's or Encore though.

This product is awesome. I can use my GH 2 guitar on Rock Band and GH 3. I wanted a second guitar and I was gonna get TAC's Window Maker bass, but this is only $20, while a second guitar is $60. And I now use my good ole' GH 2 guitar all the time. I love that thing. There are a few minor flaws though. Star Power won't activate by tilt when you are playing a series of notes. And hitting select will deactivate orange and green frets as long as you have it held down (so you'll lose a long note). But the long note thing isn't a big deal, cause the tilt works a lot better on long notes. But this is perfect for those of us who are sick of having so many video game guitars laying around.
