I bought this TV six months ago and I am incredibly happy with it. I've got a PS3, a Dreamcast, a Wii and a Pioner CLD-D702 LaserDisc player hooked up to it along with a nice surge protector (I live in San Francisco in an apartment with really old wiring).
I immediately fell in love with the ability to calibrate the TV for each individual device. Instead of having long reference lists of sharpness, contrasts and hues for each one. A small deal, but it makes a hell of a difference between so many previous gen devices
PS3- Looks fantastic, but that's pretty much a no-brainer.
Wii- It doesn't fair well without happy component cables.
LaserDiscs- If you have any in CAV format, you're in for a treat! Because the CAVs 30fps interacts quite nicely with the 120Hz motion flow. My jaw was on the floor when I first watched Akira.

The TV arrived before the estimated date and in perfect condition. Everything was complete and in the box, and setup was very easy. We are really enjoying the HD picture quality and the 120Hz frame rate really makes a difference.

For me, this tv looks great when watching sports or similar during the day. When watching a movie at night, however, the picture is horrible. Way too much backlight bleed from the top two corners. I thought it must be a defect and had Sony ship out a new one ... same problem. Then they sent someone out to look at it and ended up telling me this is just the way it is. They might be right as looking around the net you see many similar complaints. Very disapointed - this is not the 5 star set as advertised on this site. Not much point to the blu-ray player I also purchased when the tv picture is so bad when showing a dark picture. Do not buy this tv if you want to watch movies.

This Sony Bravia 1080p 120Hz W-Series 40 inch is the best gift I've purchased for myself in years. Though technology is continuously advancing I purchased at a time when this item was at it's lowest just above $1,000. Because just about everyone else purchased their huge LCD HDTV's too early my "little" 40 inch is MORE advanced than theirs. This set has an AUTO adjust - meaning I was watching a regular DVD and the set auto adjusted to full screen. It also auto adjusted the cable HD channels to full screen the first time and it just stays full screen. The Cable HD channels are wonderfully clear and crisp however the 120Hz does not kick in. I think it's because the networks are not that advanced enough just yet. So it's just the 1080p HD that's at work. BUT when watching a Blu Ray DVD or playing the PS3 games THAT's when I can CLEARLY see the 120Hz working. I purchased special 120Hz HDMI 12 foot cables 10.3GBPS (from Amazon only $14 or $15) to ensure the picture quality is not lost. The picture

Received the Sony Bravia tv that I ordered on time and in good condition. Driver was very courteous and plugged in tv to make sure it was working but despite what Amazon said he would do, he did not put it on the stand or hook anything up. I did all the labor but it was not really any problem at all. Directions were very easy to follow and understand to set tv up but be sure you read them all the way through before you start or you may have to reset again from beginning. Picture was absolutley beautiful in hi def.and the sound really dynamic...lots of choices to tweek the picture and sound but not really neccessary right now. Did'nt even have to upgrade to a cable box but just went right into tv and picked up even more stations than I was getting before, including digital and many in hi def. Some really cool features include the tv guide selection on the remote control, but it took about 2 weeks for it to finally load up and work properly instead of the 24-48 hrs Sony said but my

The picture quality of this TV is absolutely extraordinary. Not only are colors vibrant, lifelike, and highly detailed in its gorgeous 1080p True HD, but the 120hz Motionflow technology makes the events you witness on screen literally come alive. If I had to choose two words to describe the picture quality of this TV, I would choose "smooth" and "breathtaking." I have owned this television for two weeks now and love everything about it. My PS3 and HD DVR look beautiful on display (HDMI hook ups). I have had no problems with it thus far and the television is performing to the standards that I was expecting. It is a great television for the price considering it has 120hz technology. I would recommend this television to anyone looking for a great picture and size, that does not want to pay a lot of money. Deffinitely a great value!

Ok ..so I got this TV about a week ago .. so far it works great .. the picture and the color looks fantastic .. hook up to the cable box, dvd player and the speaker system was a breeze ... all done with 3 HDMI cables .... no extra cables to mess with .. even hooking up my daughter's wii took seconds ...
So my tv was delivered by CEVA ... the worst delivery company Amazon choose to deliver my tv .. First I had a Saturday del bet 1200- 1700 .. which was ok until I had a family emergency and called CEVA to try and get a better time window .. the female customer rep was really rude .. and refused to work with me .. until I told her that I didn't need the tv that bad ... and to return it back to AMAZON ... she put me on hold for almost 20mins then came back and gave me a better time ...
So 2 guys came to deliver my tv .. who by the way did not have on the company's uniform ... they brought it in unpacked the tv .. hooked it up to the base and made sure it worked fine ... my only problem

This is a very nice television. No problems with delivery or set up. Picture is great. The only drawback is that the stand is unlevel and has to have shim to level the tv. From what I've read that has been a complaint from others.

This replaced my 1980 Sony KV-1913 and it performs beautifully. My only other close experience with a widescreen TV shows the Sony to be much better.

This Sony LCD performs beyond expectation and shows very clear pictures with details. I ordered one from PC Connection in July and the delivery was very timely and the setup was simple and straightforward. I'm glad that I watched the Olympics on this SONY. It provided very vibrant colors and images for all the events. The only minor issue is that it takes couple seconds to turn on the TV/ to switch between different channels. It's not a big thing but just annoying.

I have had my 40" Sony Bravia for several years and I LOVE the machine. My cable company gave me an HDTV card to insert and it has been smooth sailing every since. The bright colors are wonderful and the darks are clearer than I've been able to see them in the past on other machines. At 54... I can even understand and work the remote! The user's manual is also a bit more user friendly than others I have owned. I would definitely buy this unit again and recommend it to others. What could be better?? Well -- maybe bigger?

Bought this HDTV when it was $1450 and no shipping. Purchase was handled expeditiously and the product was delivered quickly via Fedex.
Nice TV. I see all the ones that others have from 2, 3 or 4 years ago and am overjoyed that I waited to buy this one. 120Hz makes a big difference, although there is still a little blur with some image motion. I have this combined with a Bluray player and wow!
This Sony is easy to figure out with a very intuitive menu and remote. I even use this as an external monitor for Netflix movies! and simply as a 40" monitor for surfing the web. I am definitely pleased with this Sony Bravia HDTV.

After much internet research I ordered the TV from Amazon.com. The price was great, the delivery flawless and the product is exactly what it is cracked up to be.

I've had my eye on an HD set for some time now. I've investigated other brands, the options available on sets, the pros and cons. The websites that I visited seem to have a very high rating for the Sony KDL-40W4100, even to the point of saying that the television has one of the best pictures across the board. I eventually decided to invest in this Sony product. And boy was it a great choice. The digital stations come in with incredible clarity and detail. The number and type of A/V inputs was also very appealing. I also invested in a HD Sony receiver and blue ray player. Although the HDMI cables are incredibly expensive, it is well worth it for the picture (and the digital audio). There are so many options on this tv that I haven't investigated all of them. The only draw back to this set is the learning curve for this kind of technology (which may be higher for me, not being technologically inclined). A very interesting option that stands out is the "Cinemotion", which I think is only available

We are enjoying our new HD Sony Bravia TV. It is our first flat screen HD. The picture is sharp and clear with easy controls. We are very pleased with our purchase

This set has a great picture. Works well with over-the-air antenna. If you are looking to upgrade to a digital tuner before February 2009, this is a great set to buy. Also the installation and set up was a breeze.

Sony Bravia W4100 Series has the best features for a tv in this price range. I too looked at the Samsung A650 but am glad I went the Sony. The remote on the sony is more intuitive, plus I didn't want the glass screen for the room I was going to use it in has a window facing the tv. The picture is amazing and the 120 hz is nice feature (I use it on standard mode not High)The Cinema Motion is great. The tv looks good in HD and Standard Definition and the picture looks true to life. The XBR series is alot higher in price but I rather have $700 extra dollars and a very nice tv. This TV is a tough act to follow.

I bought this KDL-40W4100 a few weeks ago. It looks awesome when using HDMI inputs. But of course looks even worse than a regular TV when viewing non-HD sources (as with any HDTV). My two real complaints are:
there are only 2 audio outputs from the TV: optical digital and stereo RCA-jacks. This will only support 2 external speakers (not center or surround sound). Bummer, as the TV's tiny speakers are quite lame.
And problem #2 is: the base stand that came with the TV is not level! Ridiculous! This precision-engineered widescreen HDTV now sits 1/4" higher on one side because the stand isn't level! So now I have to put a pad of Post-It notes under the left side.
Overall, this is a nice TV, but I'm still disappointed.

I ordered a KDL40W4100 SONY LCD tv on line sept.22 08 and recieved it in perfect condition on the morning of sept.24 08. AMAZON shipped it FREE by CEVA to my home .The driver was very friendly and courteous as of today I am totally satisfied with SONY AMAZON and CEVA KEN DOUGLAS Hardyville Ky.

I just bought it last week. And it was amazing how the picture and color and everything! It was delivered by CEVA and very much on time. The driver carried the TV upstairs to my apartment with me and carefully placed it on the stand. After I have tested and everything looked ok, and after I have signed the paperwork, he waited there in patience. Watched the rest the of the Olympics in excitement.

I arbitrarily chose Sony over Samsung, as I heard those were the top two brands. TV picture is great, easy to connect, watching movies with the basic DVD is stunning - seems like the center actors who they are filming stand out bolder on this TV, almost 3-D like.

"I've had my 40W4100 for 3 weeks now. I researched, researched and researched until I was worn out. I had narrowed my selections down to this or Samsung. I didn't like the TOC or gloss screen of the Samsung (my den has alot of glare during the day) so I decided on the Sony. And boy am I glad I did! This TV just blows me away! I have everything connected HDMI (Dish Network HD 221, PS3 and Onkyo 606 receiver). You will NOT be disappointed. You would not believe the WOW factor from my friends when they see it for the first time, and I find myself never wanting to go to bed at night anymore. HAHA....Nothing, and I mean nothing, is ever perfect! I can assure you the Samsung's aren't perfect, either. So from a true 40W4100 owner, BUY THIS TV, you will not regret it!!!!"

I ordered a Sony KDL-40W4100 HDTV. The price was the best by far. The TV is everything I expected and more. Unlike a lot of digital TVs, the Sony lets you add over the air channels by scanning and adds them without overwriting previously identified channels. This is a huge positive for anyone who lives in a rural, mountainous area and uses a TV antenna rotator. Satellite SD reception on this TV looks as good as a neighbor's satellite HD reception on his Sony HDTV. The sound is excellent. Any adjustments are made through a simple user friendly menu and allow a good selection of options.

Okay I really have no idea about these sort of things. I had to do a little research before spend that much money on a TV. I asked my very knowledgeable brother who recommended this as one of 15 TVs to look at. I went to Best Buys to see some of the models in action and liked the quality of this model but it was not what I wanted to spend and they would not price match off of a website. So I went to Amazon and found a great deal and free shipping from OneCall. Not to mention that OneCall was fast and easy to deal with. I could not tell you the specs of this TV but the picture and sound are (wait for it) awesome. I put in the Matrix after a relatively easy set up just to see, and there was no picture blurring the 120hz (okay this is one of two specs that I know) made a huge difference. It is a good looking TV, its nice to have a good picture along with something aesthetically pleasing (can't help it I'm an art student) and the picture is AMAZING for movies.I know after reading SO many
